Trattoria Nervosa Toronto Reviews from The Last Year
Italy in Toronto
The attention was excellent. The food is tasty and well presented. The dessert (a tiramisu) with real ingredients. We had a couple of Aperol Spritz with good proseco. Great espresso coffee
Food is average.
Nothing to rave about, nothing too bad that I need to turn it back to the kitchen. Ambience is weird. We were seated on the 2/F, it doesn't feel much like a restaurant, it's a weird space with very quiet background music and very loud human voices/ noises. The light is flickering and the vibe is just so awkward. But food and ambience are not the reason why I gave a 1-star review. Read on...... I visited this "no reservation" restaurant in Jan 2024, and I didn't call in advance (because it says no reservation, why would I call?) and when I drove all the way from uptown to downtown, I saw a closure sign on the front door. I messaged the restaurant via IG and was told that they tried to update Google hours but somehow it didn't reflect the closure. They said they will make it up to me when I visit next time. OK so I messaged them on Apr 17, saying that I plan to visit on Apr 18. Since they don't take reservation, I don't bother to ask them if they can reserve a table for me. So I dine in on Apr 18, mentioned the case to the manager, and he told me "IG is managed by cooperate/ head office/ marketing team, we don't know about it. Let me take a picture of the IG conversation and I'll ask". We had our meal and when we asked for the bill, the manager came and explain to us that "since you didn't book in advance, we cannot do anything for you. If you do book in advance on IG, the marketing team would give us a promo code to give you an offer. Also, you didn't order dessert or espresso, so I cannot comp those for you." I was very put off by the way how the manager handle the case. 1) It's a no reservation restaurant, how the hell do I know I should make a reservation in order to get the compensation/ offer? 2) How would a customer know that there is no communication between the marketing team and the restaurant? It wasn't clearly stated that I must book through the IG marketing team in order to get the offer. 3) The manager could have offered us complimentary dessert and asked if we want it. The server only asked if we want dessert, but didn't mention it would be complimentary (and we don't really want dessert anyways) 4) Our bill is not small. We ordered a bottle of wine. We didn't order just 1 app and 1 main to share among 2 people. The manager could have just give us 10% off or comp an app (which is similar to the cost of a dessert) Keep saying that you are part of a big cooperation and that "nothing I can do" sounds very lame. I am not making things up, see the screen capture for more details. I rarely leave a 1-star comment, but I do think I have all the reasons to do so.

The best food and service and management in the Yorkville area. There is nothing close to this fine Italian dining restaurant. Everyone is warm and welcoming
Trattoria Nervosa THIS ITALIAN RESTAURANT in Toronto
Trattoria Nervosa THIS ITALIAN RESTAURANT in Toronto Canada was so good, I kind of want to go to Canada just for it THIS KALE salad is the only Kale salad I enjoy, Nduja Pizza Tomato sauce, fior di latte, smoked provalone, roasted peppers & wild flower honey. The pizza was outrageously tasty ! The flavors were all super rich and I loved the texture of the pastas here : Mafalde Ai Funghi Mushroom so good! 9/10 for me THE TIRAMISU was like a fluffy creamy delicious dream, strong and bold :) Follow me for more food vlogs - "LIVING WITH LUCI"

One of the better Italian restaurants in Yorkville, A1
One of the better Italian restaurants in Yorkville, A1 service and excellent food as far as ambiance it doesn't exist tables are cramped together and the decor is drab.

(These were taken from last year) Everything from the food to the staff is excellent. Whether inside or on the patio, it's a good time. I think the only think I was not super excited about was the pizza. It was good but wasn't great. I would literally return JUST for the tiramisu. Everything else was great. Personally I could come for just the appetizers and leave happy.
I spent a nice evening here with my wife and daughter.
The PROSCIUTTO E RUCOLA was superb . Just remember that the place can be busy in the evening and so you may need to wait outside (they put you on a waitlist and ask to stick around)
A touch of Italy in Yorkville
This trattoria is a touch of authentic Italy in the middle of Toronto, in the very trendy Yorkville area. Their potato soup with ricotta and bacon was absolutely outstanding as was the mushroom risotto with beef short rib. And one can order some great wines also by the glass, not needing to splash out on a bottle for a lunch. The restaurant runs on a first come, first serve basis, not accepting reservation so best to be there at noon for a lunch spot.
Dinner
It was my first time trying this restaurant. This Italian restaurant is located within Yorkville. A high-end shopping🛍️ and dining neighbourhood, nestled just north of Bloor and Bay. As an appetizer I tried the seared octopus - Polipo. As my main, I had the Branzino, Carpaccio Di Manzo, and Cesare Nervosa with the add on organic free-range chicken. Overall, all the food tasted fresh and delicious.

Dined al Fresco in early October after disembarking from a Great Lakes cruise. GF pasta was perfectly prepared as was the salad. Weather was perfect. My daughter & I really enjoyed our dinner.
Went for a quick bite with a friend after shopping.
Asked about portion sizes as it was between lunch and dinner so we didn't want a full meal. Server convinced us the salad options were too small to share. So we ordered 2 salads $16 each which were huge. Poor choice as we had to box the food due to server's lack of customer empathy and only concern with the check amount. No tip for that blunder do it was a lose lose for all !

Seared octopus was great and the mafalde ai funghi was deliciously creamy. The service was good as food got to the table quickly and I could get a spot on a busy day without much issue. The ambiance was also cozy. Not a lot of wiggle room between tables though...
Slow food - or service
Nice Italian-style restaurant in central Toronto. Good range of Italian-inspired dishes which tasted (the ones we ordered). Nice drinks as well and the prices were fair. A bit slow service, but not that bad.
Great food and service
Food was good. Service was good as well. Would recommend checking it out. I had the rigatoni bolognese, my wife had the Branzino. Friend of ours had the lasagna. All meals were good.
Delicious with great ambience
Because this restaurant is walk-in only, we arrived shortly after they opened and were able to get a patio table right away. The patio had a great atmosphere and we felt like we were in our own little hideaway. The food and drinks were excellent; it was the best fine dining meal we had on our trip. Our server was friendly and helpful. They don't substitute ingredients in their dishes, which wasn't an issue for us, but something to keep in mind. We loved our experience and look forward to returning! Definitely recommend.
Fly infected restaurant. Bad service
The place has amazing reviews and do not take reservations. We came early at 6pm and got a table. Unfortunately not even before the food arrives we were infested by flies. When we asked the serving staff to help with the flies we were ignored. When the food came there were even more. Since we weren’t helped with the fly situation we helped ourselves. We took out some natural essential oils (save for foods) to put on the table to try to ward the flies off. Yet we were approached by one of the serving staff to put them away because the scent will affect other customers. What about those ladies who came in with synthetic perfumes smell and fume up the room? Not a place I would recommend. I wanted to leave soon but we ordered food so we had to stay.
Disappointment
A disappointment, after a long wait for a table, the food also took a while and arrived cold, small portions, at our assigned table the sun bothered us on our faces. A shame.
Not to be missed, good value for money
Book before hand Otherwise, you’ll have a long wait Demand is very high, and it is clear why Fast service, good food, excellent location, good ambience and good value for money Not to be missed
Excellent food, a little taste Italy!
Excellent food and friendly service in this eclectic neighbourhood. A little corner of Italy in Toronto. Very relaxed with our young children
