The Dorchester London Reviews from The Last Year
Elegent service
My partner was looking online on where to take me for an Afternoon Tea as a surprise treat for my birthday and Dorchester Hotel came on top and there’s a lot of review mention this server Anuar and we were lucky enough to get him as our server and it’s true enough he’s not the best, he’s truly is the greatest. Arrived at the lobby and was guided to the Promenade where Afternoon tea is served, it’s a gorgeous opulent promenade, it’s just beautiful with amazing flower arrangements. Greeted by lovely hostess, was offered to keep our jackets to cloakroom and tag was given promptly a few moment after we were seated. Was greeted elegantly by Anuar and menu were explained well and he definitely know what he’s talking about and he knows champagne offerings in the Afternoon tea service very well and we decided to follow his suggestion with Laurent Perrier Rose Afternoon tea package. Sandwiches was served shortly, duck egg was my favourite, the Dragon Well tea (was delicious) as suggested by Anuar was served just before scones and pastries were brought to the table but we loves the earl grey flavoured ice cream sorbet palette cleanser. Scones were devine, love the apricot jam but i’m sorry your pastries is just boring and tasteless …… and where’s the chocolate ……. is it too expensive ……. Candle lit birthday cake was presented and I was surprised and delighted. Was thinking to rate the afternoon tea 4 stars because of the pastries but Anuar saves the day, he’s confident, elegant, stylish. We noticed that whatever he did, he just attracted attention from everyone in the room. He’s intelligent too, he can talked about anything, he’s like the Wikipedia, can talk about Bloomberg, forex, stock market, Cornish or Devon way scones, Taylor Swift, John F Kennedy, he’s so smart, a waiter who not only read The Economist, Fortune magazine but also Billboard and MTV. Thank you the Dorchester for a memorable Afternoon tea and Anuar is just irreplaceable, he’s one of a kind, you won’t find someone like this everyday and keep up the good work.
Decent afternoon tea but could use improvement
We visited The Dorchester for a vegan afternoon tea in April 2024. The setting was lovely but the food and service were a mixed bag. The staff were extremely friendly but our teapot was placed on a serving table to the side so that only the server could reach it and our tea cups rarely re-filled. We weren't offered the chance to change our tea selection until we asked and our tea was cold for most of the service. We had an appointment two hours after our sitting and the pace of food delivery was so varied and slow we had to ask them to hurry up. As a result we had large gaps in our service, followed by a rushed end. We tried several vegan afternoon tea options during our time in London and The Dorchester offered the best savory sandwiches of the bunch but their dessert was very bad. Overall, we preferred our tea experience at Brown's over the Dorchester.
A splendid landmark is even better.
I returned to The Dorchester after a five year absence and have concluded that this is the most beautiful hotel in London and one of the best in the world. The staff beginning with Madeleine at the front desk and Jeremy Dawson, the front office manager (who personally greeted me), could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. I was initially placed in a large executive room that had literally just been beautifully redecorated but it was terribly overheated due to under-functioning AC system. The very conscientious Madeleine offered me two upgrade options: a newly redecorated two room suite or a smaller deluxe Hyde Park view room with a door that opened unto a small balcony. I chose the latter and it was perfect for me: easy to cool off with the door open and exquisitely fitted out. (The bedding remains peerless.) It is rare to be someplace where literally everything a guest sees is beautiful but The Dorchester is such a place. Every one of the public spaces from glorious Promenade to the upper floor hallways to the elevator itself reward an aesthete's eye. I can think of no other hotel that deploys colors and pattern so well, bright in its public spaces, pastels in its bedrooms. My every interaction with the staff from the housemaids on up was friendly and gracious. I was made to feel very welcome indeed. I know of no better hotel in London. If you can afford it, it is worth every pound.
Wasted money
Afternoon tea, it was a lot and pay too little, we will not return. Completely everyday food at a far too high price, no atmosphere like the other big good ones, we'd rather go to the Ritz. Looked like a construction site with a bad self-image, don't understand why people bother to go here.
Our First Visit But Not The Last
Wow, where do we start to explain our Dorchester experience. This was our first visit to the hotel the purpose was for afternoon tea. When we arrived at the hotel the entrance into the Promenade was a real wow. The welcome was very personal. We were seated in comfortable seating the table was impeccable set. We were described as VIP guests and that is how we felt throughout the afternoon. The afternoon tea and ambience was excellent fresh sandwiches, scones and cakes served with endless fresh pots of fine tea. We are normal people but appreciate being spoilt and that was the case at The Dorchester. Too many staff names to remember all so pristine in their appearance with charm and professionalism to match. Taylor the Promenade manager was very efficient making regular visits to our table to check everything was to our liking. A memorable day at The Dorchester, one that will be repeated in the near future.
Dorchester event joy
Went to a charity event at The Dorchester and got exactly what we expected. The event ran beautifully and the food was incredible. The staff were a blur as they ran the well rehearsed plan to serve and feed an event room full of people. It was superb. The day was a sensational experience and we loved every minute.
Red carpet treatment
Customer red carpet treatment at its best. The food, service and atmosphere was amazing The hotel looks incredible since they started the refurbishment, it was my wife's birthday, she was treated so well, polite staff, wishing her a happy birthday with a cake at the end of the meal. It was a once in a lifetime, the lady playing the piano added to the wow factor Thank you
A slice of heaven in London
Stayed at the Dorchester for a work event and loved every minute. Great location.. The newly renovated rooms make you feel like you are at home. The service is top notch. Bed was so comfortable. The hotel was very clean and loved the smell fo roses when walking into the lobby. I look forward to returning in the future.
Very classy, very British.
.. From the doorman who opens the door for you to the hostess who takes your coat... everyone was very polite and friendly. Just go, you won't be disappointed
Luxury vibes
Every time I'm in London, tea time at the Dorchester is a must. A luxurious atmosphere reigns there, the piano to accompany our tea which is always fabulous whatever the season. The English service makes you feel really privileged! The hotel is so beautiful that visiting it is already an attraction to do. I would come back as always when I am in London. Xoxo 😘
Fantastic as always, brilliant weekend
It’s been a couple of years since we last stayed at The Dorchester, but it felt like yesterday as soon as we walked through the doors. The hotel itself has undergone major renovations since we last visited, but it is still The Dorchester! Literally everything has had a makeover and it looks amazing. We visited this time to kick off a milestone celebration, and once we were helped through the door, we were met by Michelle at reception who very kindly showed us to our room, which was lovely. I can’t name every person who helped us, but everyone was so nice and helpful. I’ve said this before in other reviews, but I always feel it’s the people who work at a hotel that make the stay special, and literally, from the moment the doormen greet you, until you leave, every single person is there to make you feel welcome, and nothing is a problem. Dinner in The Grill and breakfast in The Promenade were amazing. The Vesper Bar is still the place to be for drinks, but honestly, you could spend forever at the hotel. Alas, our one night ended all too quickly, but we will be back and won’t leave it so long next time. Thank you everyone for making our weekend special, and for all the extra touches that were very thoughtfully put in place for us G & C
Who would I be if I didn't indulge in afternoon tea.
There are endless options in London but if you're looking for one with class, quality, and elegance, this is where you should go The interior is absolutely gorgeous and you can smell fresh flowers all around (as expected from a placed named Orchid Room). These finger sandwiches are by far the BEST I've ever had at afternoon tea. They are a meal on its own with distinctive flavors. I was super impressed by how soft the bread was and the filling ratio. Esp the cucumbers, it was packed with flavor and felt so fresh. AND they ask if you want seconds?!?!?! After, you get a quick seasonal pre-dessert to cleanse your palette. For us, it was a macaron ice cream sandwich that was light, airy, and flagrant The scones were so crumbly and just the perfect compliment for the condiments. I LOVED the clotted cream so much that I honestly would have just scooped it into my mouth if it was socially acceptable The lemon curd was also excellent, balancing out the richness of the cream with a lil bit of zest. When desserts rolled around, we were pretty stuffed so we took most to go. They felt too sweet/dense but nonetheless enjoyable! PSA: rose tea has a laxative effect. Drink in moderation. We were visiting London in mid-September and chose to have
We were visiting London in mid-September and chose to have afternoon tea at The Dorchester. Having had tea before at a wide range of hotels from The Charlotte Street Hotel to The Savoy, I have to say that we were disappointed in The Dorchester. The setting was gorgeous, but our service was lackluster at best--very inattentive. And not really the fault of the hotel, but there was a couple next to us that was clearly making a Tik Tok video and were constantly--and I mean constantly--recording each other at every step of their tea service. It was really distracting as they kept bobbing up and down to get the right "angles." The food was fine, nothing that unique or spectacular. Given the wide range of choice for high-end teas, I was kicking myself that I chose wrongly this time.
I've been so excited to visit here.
Unfortunately, we sat awkwardly at our table for over 30 minutes without any staff coming to help us. All while other people were served. I even ask led for help. And nobody was sent to wait on us. For a location known for their service it was so disappointing and we ended up leaving our table without acknowledgment. This was the place we most wanted to visit on our trip and the biggest disappointment. I recommend picking any other place down the street.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Appointment
I was waiting on the transfer for name but it hasn’t happened yet and my reservation is tonight , will it be an issue that is hasn’t changed into my name yet
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Just got scammed!
Thats unfortunate but you can always get your money back if they cancel the reservation.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
