Spain Restaurant Cranston Reviews from The Last Year
i love spain! gorgeous restaurant with great service &
i love spain! gorgeous restaurant with great service & delicious food. i get the mushroom pasta almost every time i go, it is my favorite! cute spot for date night, highly recommend.
Just Disappointed
I was so disappointed at one of our favorite restaurants! First I cannot believe the drink prices. We went to the lounge before dinner and 6 mixed drinks which cost $93.00 (not including tip)! Not martinis or on the rocks just 6 one liquor mixes. We sat for dinner at 6:15pm on a Friday night, and we're given the specials when our waiter came back 15 minutes later to tell us they were out a meal that 2 out of four members of our party members wanted to order! That is unacceptable for a place like Spain!!! We had a 50 minute wait for our food to be delivered. The arroz con pollo portion was much smaller than it used to be! My son loved the tuna special which is the reason for the two stars. The other two pasta dishes were average at best.
Love Spain, wasn’t fond of the sole dish.
I have been to Spain before and always enjoyed the experience. The service is always beyond excellent. This time I tried a dish on recommendation from the server and was not impressed. The sole was battered and fried and then covered with a sauce that soaked the batter coating and made it sloppy and wet. To me it’s either fried or it’s in a sauce but not both. I will go back to the other seafood choices next time. Everything else was very good. Big portions and a beautiful room always make for a satisfying night out.
Food, service and ambiance are all top notch.
This is the best restaurant in the state of RI. The server, Peter is the best!
Delicious Food and absolutely beautiful decor.
The dessert tray is my favorite part!
Spanish cuisine and dining at its best
From the moment you walk into this restaurant you know that you are in for something special. The hand painted mural on the wall of the old world and of Spain are enchanting. The food: To say it was delicious and well presented, like a work of art is an understatement. My wife and I are from the Caribbean so our preference is for food full of wonderful flavors and Spain Restaurant of Cranston did not disappoint. The sangria was perfect and they picked up on my wife's birthday and made it really special for her with a lovely version of birthday greetings sung in Spanish. The service matched the establishment and the food. It was attentive but not overly so. We will be back!

One of my favorite restaurants in RI! I came here on a busy Friday night and self parking was full but I was easily able to valet. Valet is complimentary and quick. The ambiance is always great. Very romantic and one of the best atmospheres in the state for a candlelit date night with your honey. There is art work along the walls and high ceilings with beautiful lit light fixtures. For an appetizer I always order my all time favorite *drum roll please* : Gambas Al Aijillo (garlic shrimp in olive oil and spices.) The sauce is so good I like to dip my bread into the garlic spice sauce. The shrimp is always so flavorful and comes out sizzling on a cast iron pan. I also got the calamari, it comes with all rings (no tentacles - huge plus for me) and they were tender and breaded in a nice batter topped with peppers and olives with a house made cocktail sauce on the side. For an entree, I got Sole Franchaise - had a thick classic sauce served with mashed potatoes and string beans. The portion size was good with 3 pieces of sole. I also had Pollo Al Limon (lemon chicken/picatta) and it was seared in lemon sauce with a light batter. For a side I added in a pink vodka rigatoni. I asked for fresh Parmesan cheese and cracked black pepper on top. The sauce was creamy and thin and the pasta was very good. *Chocolate-holic Alert!* For dessert, I had the Mud Mug which is molten chocolate truffle centered cake with vanilla bean ice-cream. It was very rich & decadent and paired very well with the icecream.
Delicious food and I'm never disappointed.
Sangria is delicious and the service is 5 stars. I love that it's so big but it feels intimate and you can focus on your party.
Food is amazing.
Service is amazing. A bit pricey but totally worth it. Beautiful decor and great ambiance.

Good food and flavor except the shrimp empanadillas, which were a huge disappointment (super thick dough and minimal amount of shrimp). The fish was deliciously seasoned and the salad was especially fresh. If they would use compostable takeout containers (instead of plastic) to show some support for sustainability, friends and I would be happy to order from them more.
I have to admit.
..I haven't been here since graduating from URI with my degree in Spanish Education. Everything was just as fantastic today as it was in the 90s - the service, the food, the atmosphere. My mother insisted we go here for my birthday since I love Spain and all of its cuisine. They come right away with water and bread and get you started on the drink menu. The sangria was delicious, just like we used to make in Spain by the river. My mom is elderly & they treated her like a queen. We got the gambas app, which was delicious! A couple of us got the paella and it was enough for four people. It was just like I have on my trips to Spain. Crispy rice along the edge and LOTS of seafood. My sister got the salmon and she adored it. This is not your typical tapas bar. Although they have lots of apps, the entrees are your meal here. Everything was excellent. And although the prices are higher than other restaurants, you get what you pay for! I recommend coming here on a special night: anniversary, graduation, birthday. Live it up! Spain restaurant...looks like you are here to stay. From this Rhode Islander turned Bostonian...bravo y muy bien hecho.
I always love going out to eat.
I haven't visited Spain in years! I was excited to return! I had a hard time selecting what to eat, as so many menu items were calling my name! Overall, enjoyable!

Been here a couple of times, food and service are always excellent. Tried something new this last time around and something from the special menu for valentine's week.
In no hurry to return...
The decor and ambience is lovely and the bar and wait staff attentive and friendly., but the menu is confused - is it supposed to be Spanish? Italian? It resembles no menu I've seen in extensive travels in both countries. The only way it might appear to be authentically Spanish is that the options for vegetarians are very limited - and frankly not very good - which is absolutely the norm in Spain. The meat eaters I was with all seemed to enjoy their steaks and other dishes. It seems the place is popular with people celebrating birthdays - unfortunately the staff will sing on such occasions, and by about the sixth rendition of "Happy Birthday" to other tables in the time we were there it became more than tedious.
Not what is used to be...
I had been coming here, every year, for my birthday dinner as I used to absolutely love their paella. Unfortunately, this time I was rather disappointed. Granted, all the food ingredients were plentiful and rich. However, there was a complete and total lack of seasoning. No salt, no pepper, no paprika, no garlic and most of all, NO SAFFRON! On top of that, my husband ordered one of the specials which ended up being all of a variation of chicken parmesan with eggplant. That too, had no seasoning whatsoever. Oi vey, the quality of HOW they prepare their food has taken a hit, and although I know that saffron is an expensive ingredient, it is still MANDATORY for a paella. The service was great, as usual.
