République Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year

I had a delightful meal at Republique, enjoying the mushroom toast and granola. The mushroom toast was savory and perfectly seasoned, while the granola was fresh and flavorful. The ambiance was charming and lively, making it a great spot for a meal. The service was excellent; the staff was attentive and ensured a wonderful dining experience.

Finally had a chance to come here To visit, I thought this place just looked photo perfect, I'm so surprise that their pastry are amazing, not too sweet, lot of different flavors inside, my favor is the raspberry sesame lemon cake, the only down side was they sold out too fast, the vibe is really good, love it!
I'm not sure how I ever skipped reviewing Republique.
I don't come here often but Republique is just THAT PLACE. I feel like you can almost order anything here and it'll be good. From the pastries to the food, it's hard to find something bad at Republique. I came here yesterday after a long time and there was a line out the door. I do recommend coming as early as possible but with that said came here around 9ish? and although the line seems pretty bad, it moves pretty quick. From them, you can order all your pastries and food and then if you decide to eat there, then they'll give you a cup so that the waiters will bring it to your table. It's super easy to go ham on ordering everything on the menu... Regardless...the potato pancake is prob a must. There aren't any misses but this one is a bit unique so you really should order this. It's almost like a hash brown(the pancake ) but better lol? Everything just works on this dish and I could eat this all day. My lobster omelette was awesome. It really sounds so simple but when you do it right, it's just on a different level. I'm that type of person that only orders dessert when I know it's good...and Republique's basque cheesecake is top tier. You know when you eat something so good, you frown about it....yea that was one of those things imo. If LA wasn't so far away(and I just don't like coming to LA in general), I would frequent Republique way more often. Truly Republique is one of a kind. I never had anything from their dinner menu before so this is based only on the breakfast stuff.

Came here on recommendation by a friend and this place was delicious and beautiful! I love how the setup of the store is you order and then seat yourself, and walking by where they are preparing food really gives it nice vibes. I cannot imagine how packed this place would be on the weekend. I came on a weekday for brunch at 11 and the line was out the door and the cakes were already sold out!
5/5 Super cute interior and fast service.
Loved the pastries and coffee was delicious
Hands down, the single most uncomfortable dinner I've ever
Hands down, the single most uncomfortable dinner I've ever had. And I paid $300 for it. They sat us at a tiny table in a cramped corner on a bench with a brick wall behind me so that I scratched my elbow every time I lifted my right arm. I could not wait to leave, and the meal took forever. Service was on the slow side. Were they trying to get us to talk? Maybe, but the music was so loud that's all I could hear. So what about the food? That's the 3 stars. Took the server's recommendations, and was pleased. The baguette was warm and toasty. Heirloom tomato salad was simple but nice. Super popular I guess, because every table seemed to have it. The pork belly looked raw and I had my reservations, but it tasted incredible and the caviar on top was the perfect touch. Our favorite dish was the lobster campanelle. The texture of the pasta was dense and chewy, just perfect. And though the sauce was on the sour side, (lemon maybe), it worked nicely here. And finally the short rib. Good but nothing special. Was so full by then I could easily have skipped this and saved my back 20 minutes of torture. So overall, it was good. But if they try to cram you in the dungeon corner, assume you pissed someone off.
The food, service, and ambiance were wonderful.
Unfortunately, some cad put their gum under the seat and ruined my suit pants.
Food was great.
It is basically self serve. One of those places where you choose your pastry, then your entree and get a number and then your hot food is brought to you. Breakfast was great. Herb and cheese omelette with lovely green salad. Pastries looked better than they tasted. A bit on the expensive side.
The dinner experience at Republique was pretty impressive.
Of course, when you arrive, you have to pay for their valet parking or take an eon to find some sort of parking. As you pass through to their front entrance, the outside architecture looks deceptively barren, save for chairs and benches. As you go in, however, the architecture and decor just blows you away. With its open kitchen concept, colorful tiles, and 2 storied red room with one side filled with various wines, the place leaves you wondering what other unique things there could be. Once you sit down and start ordering, the waiter will let you know that the dishes are meant to be shared. We ordered the Bluefin Tuna Toast, Burgundy Escargot En Croute, Hiramasa Crudo, Earth Crafted Garden Baby Lettuces, Wood Fire Roasted Cauliflower, Campanelle, Liberty Duck, Black Hawk Wagyu Zabuton. We also added a baguette with their Normandy butter and 4 cheeses: Afterglow, Ossau Iraty,Pipers Pyramide, and the Roquefort. The service itself was fast and everything was explained very well. The first thing to come out was the brown butter corn soup, which can be described with salty, buttery, caramelized, gingery, and corn. As the soup runs down your throat, the salty flavors from the butter and the sweetness of the corn spread out across the tongue like a blanket and simultaneously the ginger taste hits the back of your throat just like how spice can sometimes hit the back of the throat. The texture is thick and you could tell that the soup has really fine powders of what is probably corn and other spices in it. The second dish was the Bluefin Tuna with caviar. This dish was extremely smoky with a sweet and sour note similar to the dressing that you would get on a salad at a Japanese restaurant. Overall, it was really good, but my expectations of being elevated to a higher plane were not met. (Especially since I never had caviar and I expected it to blow my mind.) The next dish to arrive was the Escargot, and this dish was especially surprising to me. I have had Escargot once, and it was not good at all. Unlike the one I had before, this Escargot was soft, salty, but not overpowering at all. Additionally, there were some other herbs that elevated the flavor, such as garlic and basil, just to name a few. The Crudo that came out next was pretty good. The fish they served was a good quality, and the sauce was like mini fireworks that would hit your tongue with spice that would disappear just as fast. However, the fruits, such as melon, were not as strong and couldn't counteract against the extremely sour notes of the sauce. The Earth Crafted Lettuces also had an interesting combination of flavors. The taste of the Lettuces started out with some sort of sour lemon sauce that slowly morphed into a creamy and then to a more meaty taste similar to that of a toasted hamburgee bun. Our party surmised that they the creaminess was probably from the avocado the meaty flavors taste were from the seeds. The texture was pretty much what you expected from a salad. The Cauliflower is essentially the normal spiced Cauliflower with yogurt, plum, and pistachios. The taste of the spiced Cauliflower would soon be overtaken by the sourness of the yogurt and then balanced out by the plums. This balancing act would then give way to the meatiness of the pistachios. This dish was a little on the heavier side, but it was balanced better than the crudo. The Campanelle had campanelle noodles that can only be described as a memory foam pillow. The dish itself was a tomato based dish that was sour and spicy. The lobster lended a bit of sweetness to the dish and was not rubbery at all. The Duck was a really well-rounded meat that was neither too fatty nor too dry, and it had a pretty good blackberry peppercorn sauce. However, I was hoping for some more. The final dish, the Zabuton, felt like I put a 100 lb weight with how heavy the dish was. The flavors were really Smoky, and the amount of umami was like a truck As a fancy place that you would go out and celebrate at, I would rate this place as a 9.1/10

Been meaning to try Republique and finally got to when my friend was visiting from overseas! They do not take reservations for breakfast and lunch, but don't let the lines scare you away. It actually moves quickly and there's plenty of seating to go around. The tables are mostly communal, so this may not be the spot for you if you need a lot of personal space. The ambience is beautiful. The historic architecture and high ceilings are very romantic! Food: Mushroom Toast - the mushroom topped with hollandaise sauce was perfectly creamy and the eggs underneath were impressively fluffy and moist. Hard to avoid the mess when eating this dish, be prepped to get your hands dirty! Granola - farmers market fruits, yogurt and granola. Pretty pricy for what it is, but the fruits were fresh and the granola was to die for. Overall, this is a great spot to take your friends to an LA brunch. The dishes here are pricy (arguably overpriced) but the quality is there! I'd definitely go back when showing friends around the area, but probably not outside of certain occasions.
Excellent omelettes and desserts
The food was excellent especially the Lobster omelette as well as the pastries. We went multiple times and enjoyed it on each occasion
Don’t go on weekends.
Poor service. Orders confused. Long wait. Service staff seemed overwhelmed. Don’t go at peak times. Way too crazy. And not fun.
exquisite meal and perfect service.
equisite meal. amazing service. great eye for detail. It's everything a top restaurant should be including "TOO MUCH FOOD". ha. From the cocktails to the dessert, we were well taken care of, and I enjoyed every bite.
Great anniversary dinner!
Dinner exceeded our expectations, both food and service. Selected lettuce salad, scallops, cauliflower, halibut. All were done superbly with great sauces. Rafael and Meggie were attentive and helpful. They even surprised us with a great dessert. While not inexpensive, definitely worth the price.
Republique
This place is so cute! You order at the front and sit anywhere you like. It's huge inside. They also have an upstairs and a patio. I don't know how they find you! All the food I walked by that other people were having looked AMAZING! I had the French Toast. SO GOOD! All their bread looks house made and you can see into the kitchen where they make it. They also looked like they had a lot of good pastries in the front. I also had a caramel latte which was so good and they put a heart on it. My friends had the Matcha Latte and the Ube Latte. The Ube one was very good. My friend also had the mushroom soup and caesar salad that came with a sandwich. Again, everything was so delicious. My friend recommended this place to me who has lived here for 20 years and now I know why. It must also be very popular with a lot of influencers because I saw a TON of people taking pictures and videos. Very friendly customer service as well. We went for breakfast/brunch obviously but they are open for dinner as well. They do have parking right beside the building that you have to pay for but if you are willing to walk there is some neighborhood street parking around the back. Definitely one of my top places here! Can't wait to go again!
For all the hype I heard and red about République It
For all the hype I heard and red about République It didn't meet my expectations at all . The set up for breakfast / lunch is very chaotic as food runners are rushing madly and can not provide a good or friendly service and therefore not a relaxing experience at all . The food not that great either except the hot baguette which cost 13 $ !!!
The ambience was great, but the food in comparison to the
The ambience was great, but the food in comparison to the price was mediocre. Service was very good, but paying $46 for a SINGLE scallop is absolutely crazy. $72 dollars for half a chicken? whack. The best part was the baguette and the phenomenal lobster pasta, but that's about it.
Housed in a historic building that once served as the
Housed in a historic building that once served as the iconic Campanile restaurant, Republique boasts an inviting ambiance. Built in 1928 by Charlie Chaplin and designed by architect Roy Seldon Price, the soaring ceilings, adorned with intricate moldings, create a sense of grandeur. Whether you're dining in the airy atrium, bustling bakery, or elegant dining room, every corner of Republique exudes charm and sophistication. Upon arrival, you wait in line to place your order, are given a number, find your table, and the server brings your drinks and food. The pastry case is so beautiful. Republique's menu is a culinary tour de force, showcasing the talents of its acclaimed chefs, Walter and Margarita Manzke (owners of Wildflour Bakeries in the Philippines), and celebrating the vibrant flavors of French cuisine with a modern twist. From the freshly baked pastries and artisanal bread that greet you at the bakery counter to the exquisite small plates and decadent mains served in the dining room, every dish demonstrates the restaurant's commitment to quality and innovation. The quiche offers patrons a taste of Parisian perfection. With its buttery richness and a subtle hint of salt, the crust provides the perfect foundation for the creamy custard filling. Each bite yields a yummy blend of smoothness, with the velvety custard giving way to tender morsels of filling that are comforting and indulgent. One of the highlights of dining at Republique is the opportunity to indulge in their expansive pastry selection, featuring an array of tempting treats crafted with love. From flaky croissants and buttery kouign-amann to rich cheesecakes and indulgent éclairs, there's something to satisfy every sweet craving. Additionally, don't miss out on their inventive cocktails, expertly crafted with seasonal ingredients and creative flair, complementing your meal perfectly. In conclusion, Republique offers an unforgettable dining experience that combines exceptional cuisine, great service, and a stunning setting. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, enjoying a leisurely brunch, or simply craving a taste of French-inspired elegance, Republique will surely exceed your expectations and leave you longing to return for more.
Don't be afraid of the line.
We went for brunch with friends and immediately got anxiety when we saw 60 people waiting at the door. The wait was around 20 minutes and they have a lil window where you can get coffee and pasties while you're in line. They have a cute outdoor area so bring a jacket. There were 6 of us and we all shared and picked at all the deliciousness. The wait staff was smiley and helpful! Highly recommend.
Well worth the effort.
We enjoyed generous portions of food and good service at lunch time, even though it was very busy and bustling. It became clear that you order at the entrance and can then choose where to sit either in one of the dining areas or at the patio. The menu was comprehensive with French and American dishes featured. It may be a little out of the way but a comfortable half hour walk to the Grove shopping area and Farmer’s Market. Not that many people walk in LA unless they are a tourist like us!
We had the party of 8, so we could only do the preset menu.
Menu priced at 130$ pp. You can order additional items and drinks if you would like. Our waiters were nice and super accommodating. The restaurant is spacious and beautifully decorated. Food was amazing. The cheesecake was to die for!
The food is delicious but the dessert/bakery is where it is
The food is delicious but the dessert/bakery is where it is at! The atmosphere is pretty chill and the structure of the building is cool. I like the communal center table Idea. Service was good as well.
French or French-inspired cafe/bakery/bar/restaurant
French or French-inspired cafe/bakery/bar/restaurant (depending on what time of day you go or where you sit). I've been here a couple of times for dinner, but never for breakfast/brunch. It's heavily weighted on one of my experiences here (more on that later), but I would probably consider this one of my favorites, if not my favorite restaurant in the city. I first came here for a work dinner a few years ago and already loved this place based on the delicious food, wonderful service, and vibe. The standout was a whole roasted chicken dish that was served on this wooden board. My other experience - and possibly my favorite dining experience of all time - was a collaboration between the restaurant, my favorite local spirits/wine store, and Beam Suntory. With the purchase of a ticket, we sat in a private room upstairs, essentially got to do a tasting menu or try a good portion of the menu at the time, got a visit from Walter Manzke himself, and got to try different Japanese whiskies, including sampling some components of Beam Suntory blends (e.g. Yamazaki) that you couldn't even purchase separately. As a big fan of whisk(e)y and the food here, this was as good as it gets. I pretty much enjoyed everything and probably won't/can't go into detail of what we had (especially since some of the items may be seasonal or not available anymore), but the meal included: - Big eye tuna and caviar toast / potato and leek beignets - Oysters - Kanpachi crudo - Margarita's famous baguette with Normandy butter - Octopus and garden of little gems salad - Butternut squash agnolotti - Bucatini - cacio e pepe - Chanel islands rock cod - Sonoma County duck breast - Thao Farms cauliflower - Desserts: assorted sorbet, caramelized white chocolate sabayon, salted caramel chocolate cake Just a sample of the whiskies we got to try: -Yamazaki 18 sherry, cask strength, single cask -Yamazaki 21 mizunara cask strenght, single cask The space - this space has a lot of LA history with the original structure getting built by Charlie Chaplin back in 1929. I even remember coming here when it was Campanile and La Brea Bakery a bunch of years ago. I read that they even brought in lots of tile, Yakal wood, and wrought iron in the form of raw material from the Philippines for the most recent iteration in this space. With the history, the high ceilings and beautiful aesthetics, this building is iconic. Definitely trying to visit again soon to try their breakfast. That kimchi fried rice looks and sounds amazing. Parking - of the few times I went, I was able to find street parking within a short walk. There's also valet parking. Again, keep in mind, I haven't been for their breakfast service, so not sure how the parking situation is during the early part of the day.

My family and I came here for brunch and ended up having a quick bite. The setup is cafe style where you order at the bakery counter and take a numbered metal coffee mug to your table. The ambiance is charming with both indoor seating and an outdoor patio, and we opted for the latter. Food: - **Buttermilk Pancake**: I tried the buttermilk (blueberry) pancake, and it was absolutely delightful. The buttermilk pancake was fluffy with a good texture and generously sized, almost like having a short stack in one serving. It came loaded with blueberries and was thick, accompanied by a side of syrup. At $19, it's definitely a shareable portion if you're not too hungry. Service: However, the service was a bit slow, and the numbering system for orders was confusing. While I didn't encounter any issues with my order, one member of our group never received theirs and had to get it refired to-go. Overall, despite the hiccup in service, the delicious pancakes and pleasant atmosphere make this spot worth a visit.

Food was very interesting, pastries however Delicious!!!! Had a latte which was decent. Ambiance is very nice definitely cafe like. Now as far as service the staff was nice but wish they would have been more helpful ordering and guiding through the process. Will come back for Pasties.

Coffee , Pastries, cakes and even water (lol) tastes so good. Love this place. Only downside is Parking fee starts from$14.

Shakshouka was amazing! Pastries were my favorite I don't remember the name, but was caramel and pistachios on top incredibly delicious! The matcha and the golden milk latte were to die for! The French omelette wasn't my favorite though no flavor but the rest was good!
Outstanding Venue, Fare & Service
A busy and buzzing restaurant with a good mix of people. The menu is very good and the food was outstanding, with a special mention to the Dover Soul which was a highlight! Also had the Potato and Leak Beignets, Black Truffle Risotto, Cheeses and the Tiramisu, not forgetting the famous Baguette! All was really good. Service from our waitress was exceptionally good as was the advice and recommendations from the Sommelier who pointed us to a Sicilian number which certainly hit the spot! We were visiting from Australia and would certainly head to Republique when next in LA and have already recommended to Friends who are heading over.
Wonderful food
Excellent, Michelin star-worthy cuisine that really can’t be faulted, but … $12.50 for bread?! C’mon, guys, don’t be greedy.
Great food & baked goods
Wow! Great food, quick service, beautiful room. Do arrive early as the restaurant gets crowded and the pastries sell out. There was much to choose from, and a lot of different cultural cuisines from around the world.
Fabulous lunch and amazing pastries!
We had lunch New Year’s Eve here and everything was delicious! From the coffee to the mimosas; the brunch and pastries we took for later -everything was amazing! Get there early and be ready to wait in line. It’s open seating once you order and pay. Beautiful space inside but we found seats outside and it was lovely! Highly recommend a visit!
Best Restaurant in LA
Magnificent ambiance and pastries. Plus, it is a Michelin restaurant. Be sure to come early because it fills up pretty quickly! Enjoy in advance!!!
The Butter of Kings!
This space is beautiful as it was built in 1928 by charlie chaplin. it is a bakery by day and a lovely restaurant at night. Beware that the butter that comes with your baguette is $12 but it is imported from France and will spoil ANY other butter that you have in the future. Also, their leek and potato soup was a poem - also I had the endive salad and cod and it was all gorgeous !!!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
