Ramen Nagi San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
I never thought Ramen Nagi would make its way down to San
I never thought Ramen Nagi would make its way down to San Diego. Being from the bay area, this spot was really popular in both Palo Alto and Santa Clara. I only went once because the line was SO long -- about an hour wait? And after that, I never thought I would visit this restaurant again. I was surprised when they opened one at UTC (along with many other ramen spots like Silverlake and Menya? Competition must be hot), however this place is the only one I've seen with a line forming before doors open. It could be because of how little tables they have available here. Service here is fast, because they are trying to turn tables over quickly with how fast the line grows. You fill out your order form ahead of time, and once you get seated, they'll serve you within 10 minutes. I have had and enjoyed both the Original and Spicy king. The ramen here doesn't come with eggs and toppings are pretty minimal, so you have to do add-ons. If I am recalling correctly, they don't serve alcoholic beverages here either. This isn't a restaurant you want to linger in; I'm sure you'll feel the pressure of leaving once you're meal is done. You also walk to the register to pay instead of the servers taking care of your bill. To avoid a long wait, I would suggest getting in line before they open around 4:30-4:45pm and/or come on a weeknight. No reservations or waitlist -- you have to stand in line to secure your place. I could imagine on Fridays and weekends they get pretty busy here. Plan accordingly!
I came here to meet a friend and long story short my friend
I came here to meet a friend and long story short my friend and I tried the food here and it turned out the ramen here is awesome even though the line is long but the restaurant service took initiative to take the order while wait on the line, not to mention also that the vibe in this restaurant is very Japanese ambiance that really threw me back when I was in Japan before and after all this is one of the restaurants I recommend strongly to eat with friends and family with reasonable price too. hope this helps.

Had to come back a second time and the green king was sooo delicious! It's a basil/pesto base tonkotsu and it's extremely rich that comes with bacon and cheese! the bacon is extremely crispy but didn't really notice the cheese. I got the pork belly this time instead of the chashu it's a MUST, so much better than the chashu! It's so deliciously fatty and seasoned very well. I got normal salt and oil, heavy garlic, but if you're getting the geeen king I would recommend none/light oil honestly because the pesto already has sooo much oil. It's pretty heavy, so I would opt to get the green king occasionally. But overall such a delicious and rich broth!! Service was great, we came at 4:50 on a friday evening and was seated around 5:10. It was a bit cold at the tables outside and the servers didn't mind turning up the heater!
Very good tasting ramen for a good price.
The line is long, but it moves way faster than it looks. The inside is very small, but they give food to you very soon after you sit down, and you're in and out in no time.

I tried this place with my girl friend recently and it was really good!! There seemed to be always a nice long line because of its good quality but I can say it's worth your time and waits!! We got to have vegetarian noodles and the texture of the noodle was right and the broth was delicious!!! Can't wait to go visit again!! Keep up the good work Cheers
Please don't waste your life and money on this! Food: Salty
Please don't waste your life and money on this! Food: Salty (even with normal salt level). The ramen is an assembly line for precooked ingredients. A fast food interpretation of Japanese Ramen. Service: exceptionally poor service. Requires costumers to order before you have a seat. Can't even bring a couple of coffee and if you do so, they will take it away. Ambiance: the long line is not due to it's popularity but their inefficiency. Extremely long waiting time even though assembling the ramen only takes less than a minute. It's totally a type of hunger marketing. Please vacate the space for other real restaurants. Thanks!

We tried Ramen Nagi for the first time and we arrived early in case there was a big line. We fortunately arrived 15 minutes before it opened at 5:00 and one of the staff members went over the menu for us. We were seated really quickly and they had community seating. We ordered a Veggie King and a Green King. I really enjoy the broth of the Veggie King, it had good flavor. I also liked the Green King which was a pesto/basil flavor soup. While I did enjoy the ramen, it didn't meet my expectation for it. My family really hyped the ramen and told me it was because I didn't choose the "good" flavors. In my opinion, maybe my choices weren't the "best" but I shouldn't feel bad for choosing something that I thought I would personally enjoy. The Karaage chicken we got was also ok. This place was definitely on the pricier side for but I would definitely come back here to try the other flavors cause I did have a good experience here.

Ramen Nagi is located within UTC mall and there is usually a line to be seated. Someone will review the menu with you as the line progresses, so you'll be able to place your order as soon as you're seated. I ordered the Red King with extra tree mushroom, seaweed, and an egg. The meat was cooked well, but I felt that the broth was bland and I was expecting more for the price when dining at this restaurant.

This marks my third visit to Ramen Nagi, having previously explored their spots in Century City and Arcadia. Unfortunately, this outing left me a bit underwhelmed, making it my least favorite so far. I stuck to my usual order - the Red King with light tare (salt), normal oil, heavy garlic, and chasu pork, spiced up to level 5. The Saturday lunch line seemed daunting from the outside, but kudos to the swift service as we were seated promptly. The free side dish tradition continued, but to my surprise, there was only one option, and the bean sprouts were noticeably saltier than I remembered from other locations. Diving into our ramens, the flavor was undeniably good, but the saltiness caught us off guard. My husband, opting for the Black King with light salt, echoed the sentiment of an unexpected salt overload. While Ramen Nagi undoubtedly crafts a mean bowl of ramen, this deviation in saltiness left us feeling less than satisfied after our meal. Curious if it was just us, I checked with others, and some didn't notice the saltiness issue. Could it be a quality control hiccup? Overall, I'd still recommend Ramen Nagi for their generally excellent ramen, but this particular visit didn't quite live up to the high standards set by their other locations.

3.5ish stars... It didn't blow me away. I may have an unpopular opinion here, but still open to coming back. The hype for this place was everywhere!! Plenty of friends have enjoyed this, there's ALWAYS a long line every single time I walk by no matter the day of the week, and I've seen them numerous times all over social media. While I was expecting the best ramen ever, I was a tad underwhelmed. I stuck with the Original with Chashu pork, egg, cabbage, and thick noodles. The ramen was alright; it just was not memorable and I've had better. I did like the egg and the texture of their thick noodles the best. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say maybe I should've ordered the Red or Black King instead of Original - it looks a lot more flavorful than Original. Will review again once I try those. Ordered gyozas and they were so small. I don't think I've had gyozas that small before. I did see the neighboring table order chicken karaage that I do want to come back and try. The process of it all was very smooth. We arrived around 4:50pm and the line was already long but moved pretty quickly after opening. We were seated after 30 minutes of waiting in line, but they have an employee explaining how it works and you can check off what you'd like while you're still waiting, which speeds up the process a little. Service was okay. Although no complaints, service wasn't memorable. I was surprised that the food came out really fast though, felt maybe less than 10 minutes. Restaurant is very small inside but also many tables outside. Not like we had a choice, but I'm glad to sit inside because it was warmer during dinner.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
