an incredible dining experience.
the plate is obviously fabulous: excellent and magnificent. all your senses will be engaged since in this 2-star restaurant you are encouraged to eat certain bites with your fingers! a delight ! some dishes look like small gardens or paintings. we were won over and will come back quickly. a special mention to our young waiter whose smile was matched only by his diligence in describing the dishes to us.
A permanent miracle.
It's a miracle that isn't a miracle. Racine is one of the greatest restaurants there is, an extraordinary experience, a unique place, discreet, humble in its approach but incredibly generous, a timeless place, gentle, cozy, caring and all of this is magical. subtle, scholarly that leaves nothing to chance. You are welcomed by the small brigade, young, courteous, immediately attentive, in a sober, refined place, which has gained in density since the reorganization of the decor. You are immediately struck by the beauty and calm of the place. The room is organized around four tables, only a maximum of 14 privileged guests take possession of a place whose bay windows overlook the small garden of the restaurant. Madame Tanaka maintains this self-effacingness which is one of the hallmarks of the place and welcomes each guest with incredible kindness. The sommelier, also humble and discreet, is of formidable competence: listening to the customer, wherever he comes from in terms of his knowledge, he guides the gastronome with tact and efficiency. At the piano, the conductor, a gifted man of limitless modesty, directs a small brigade that we see working silently. The dishes that come out in the dining room are incredible: line dressing, of absolute beauty, serving the product and the taste. 10 appetizers come to you and are each time a wonder and a little uppercut: it's precise, long in the mouth, crunchy, melting, subtle, simple and sought-after at the same time, it's sublime. 3 dishes then arrive then a dessert, and five fabulous sweets which conclude a lunch at 130 Euros in a two Michelin star where 10 appetizers, 3 dishes, a dessert and five sweets will leave your stomach intact, in great shape, fulfilled by all the senses which remain alert during the four hours that the enchantment lasts. The play of textures, the precision of individual tastes which on the plate once brought together reveal themselves in a completely different dimension, the raw product, noble or more modest, becomes in the hands of the chef the gold in bar, the harmony that emerges from each plate, all of which makes the chef's cuisine unique and singular. It wins everyone's support without discussion and without harshness. It is a miracle that we salute every time and that every gourmet must have experienced at least once in their life: you will come away dazzled, transfigured, transformed.

Chef Tanaka is an esthete who sublimates all the products he chooses to offer, in all their forms as far as vegetables are concerned. The plates invite us on a journey that is as visual as it is gustatory: great art! Like the light wooden table with its light accessories too, the decoration of the room is minimalist with a beautiful harmony of wood, fine golden stripes and a very beautiful quartz wall (or similar stone with crystals ) As for the service, the waiters follow one another in a veritable ballet to bring and remove the different dishes. The sommelier is a high-quality professional: discreet and very competent, he explains perfectly why he has chosen a particular wine to accompany the dish we are about to taste. His choices are excellent and allow you to make great discoveries! Thank you all for this incredible adventure with you!

We had an absolutely incredible experience at Racine for my birthday dinner. The reservations open up several months in advance and fill up quickly, but if you keep checking the website, there are often cancellations within a week or two of the date. I ended up snagging one of these cancellation for my birthday, which was amazing! Racine does a single seating per evening, with only about 15-20 guests spread around tables at the restaurant. You are seated promptly, given a couple of options for a tasting menu, and offered both a by-the-glass and bottle wine list. Since we were in Reims, the by-the-glass champagne options were interesting and thoughtful, and we went with those rather than doing a wine pairing. The dinner itself is actually a series of individual bites of food, with each of the courses consisting of several different items. It was all absolutely beautifully designed, and the taste was phenomenal. The staff were exceptionally attentive, which is to be expected when there are only a few guests, and Chef Tanaka serves several of the courses himself, which was a nice treat. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite serene. It's a quiet place, it looks over a garden, and the tables are spread far enough apart to give a lot of privacy. It was a very relaxing meal overall. Despite the cost, I would definitely go back to Racine if I visited Reims and could get a reservation.
