Nami Nori Williamsburg Brooklyn Reviews from The Last Year
Perfect spot for dinner
This place is so great! Delicious, freshly-prepared sushi. Lovely, light and welcoming restaurant and the food is fantastic. We shared some small plates to start (the tempura vegetables were amazing) then had sushi and finished with the mochurros. Just so good, and safe for coeliacs.

I've tried Nami Nori a couple of times, but was never WOW'd at any particular roll or appetizer; in fact, I feel like the toppings overpowers the flavor of the fish. The toro roll, or should I say... scallion roll with a side of toro, was the most disappointing. Toro is typically my favorite raw fish to consume, but the mountain full of scallion makes the flavor & buttery-ness dissipate. I've had it twice now - for the second time, I took off 3/4 of the amount & the scallion was still too overpowering. Plus, the toro wasn't fatty enough... unfortunately:/ The appetitizers are also just mediocre, but at least the clams taste fresh!

This location is just as delicious as the WV location and it's even more spacious and sceney I took my friend out to celebrate a special occasion. I actually prefer sitting at the bar because they serve you one piece fresh at a time rather than at the tables they serve you the flight all at once The server was super sweet and sent us a treat to kick off our special meal. We then enjoyed two perfectly paced vegan temaki flights. We also started off with the spicy tuna appetizer - good portion and tasty- and we shared one maitake temaki because I had to have it again. Don't forget to save room for dessert. They're perfect for 2 mostly full people or even 4 stuffed people. I dream about those crispy warm chewy mochi churros with lemon curd dip
Love everything from the menu.
My favorite dishes are furikake fries with mentaiko mayonnaise and top neck clams and coconut shrimp.
Really love this spot which is across from McCarren park.
The interior is so chic, bright and airy. We made reservations for the outside seating area for my dad's birthday lunch and they were so accommodating of our newborn and stroller (although I obviously recommend booking at non-busy time as we did to simplify for all). We asked our waiter to choose an array of starters and then we each had temaki sets. I was blown away by the unique offerings at Nami Nori particularly the top neck clams, tempura misto, clam soup and the nami nori salad. Sake selection was tasteful. The temaki was high quality and divine! Will definitely be back!
Fabulous date night at Nami Nori.
We both order the signature set which was phenomenal. Every piece was creative, so fresh and better than the last. We shared the tempura misto, wasabi cucumber tataki and the spicy tuna dip. The wasabi cucumber was a great choice and the green that we needed for the meal. Could have passed on the tempura. I loved the spicy tuna dip but my boyfriend said he rather grab more handrolls next time. We also got the mochurros and tbh, it's a pass for us. The WBurg location has a liquor license and the fun cocktails are not to be missed! Im not a fan of lychee martinis and my boyfriend ordered one off the menu and it was probably the best ones I've had. Attentive staff and such a beautiful venue. It's always so hard to get reservations but we saw plenty of open seats on a Saturday around 730/peak dinner, so definitely try walking in.

Nami nori is one of my favorite places to eat on special occasions. Not only is the food amazing, but their service goes above and beyond. It's a really cute place for a date night or just a night out with friends. I made reservations for our anniversary. Definitely make reservations cause they get so busy! Sofia, our server, took really great care of us! We were offered free presecco for our special date. We also ordered a few cocktails called the wake up call and the colada. They were delicious! We got the spicy tuna dip and tempura misto. MUST get the tuna dip. Wish we got two! We also ordered their signature and classic temaki sets which were really good and we also created our own with the spicy lobster, crispy spicy crab, toro scallion and the salmon serrano. You really can't go wrong here! They were all great! I wish we had room for dessert, but we were stuffed after that. Thank you nami nori for making our anniversary special.
The food is Amazing, prepare yourself for taste buds love.
Service is flawless, staff knowledgeable. Even the reservation, seat person. THATS MY HOMIE., she is on point. Ambience simple, clean. Fits well with all other interactions.

I was able to walk in to Nami Nori without a reservation on a Monday night. We got the signature and felt the sushi was ok. Some of the hand rolls had a lot of wasabi that overpowered the fish, and overall the extra toppings overpowered the taste of the fish. I also didn't understand the need of the plastic wrapping and felt that it just made the hand rolls harder to eat.

A cozy spot for sushi hand rolls tucked into the heart of Williamsburg -- I. AM. OBSESSED. with literally everything about this spot. The interior is modern and sleek, and it's fairly easy to get a reservation in advance. I didn't care much for my drink, but every single dish was delicious. Highly recommend the Potato Salad and Salmon Dip to share for the table and the Lobster Hand Roll is a MUST. The fish is fun and I love the modern twist with all of the dressings and sauces. I appreciate that there are lots of vegan options too, would totally do a mix since they're yummy too.

Always such an amazing experience 10/10 As a celiac, a huge perk is that it's fully gluten free! We got the clam soup (so rich and soothing), tempura misto, furikaké fries (DEFINITELY add the mentaiko mayo) and a bunch of temaki rolls. For dessert, we absolutely love getting the churros with the lemon curd (mouth watering!!) The service is always great too
Well Executed Japanese Food
Went to the Williamsburg location. Excellent handrolls. Some really special flavour combinations. A bit noisy and drink selection a bit limited. But overall excellent food at good value for what it is.
Unique dining experience
Very unique place - mostly sushi but all shaped like tacos. I recommend ordering a set that comes with 5 pieces that are brought out as they’re ready. I also enjoyed the churros for dessert. Definitely a young vibe, most seating is at a counter top next to other parties. Really cute place, and the entire menu is gluten free too!
Really Bad Welcoming
One of the city's popular temaki bars, Nami Nori offers open-style sushi hand rolls. The extensive sake menu was also one of the reasons we chose this place. Classic Set ($28) with 5 different options and we also ordered x.o. Scallop ($9) and Toro Scallion ($12) from Signature Menu. I am not a sushi master, but I’ve enough knowledge to evaluate it according to my own experience. None of the products were at a level that would convince me to come back here. Plum Sake ($12-umeshu) and Tensei ($15) that we tried as accompaniments were very pleasing Sakes, we recommend you to try them if you come across them. The other bad point was that the receptionist tried to kick us out when we asked if there was a table. She stated that the place was closed and they couldn't help. While we were waiting in front of the door, we saw by chance that another customer was accepted and we learned that the kitchen was open with the info of another employee. Maybe not about food but It was the worst place I've seen in NY regarding customer relations. . . . #kaimbros
Just so so
I went to Nami Nori for lunch with my family. We made reservation at 12:00, its opening time. But the service is not good. There was no friendly welcome, and the waiter was inattentive at our table. The food is just so so. I feel uncomfortable to unwrap the plastic paper covering black seaweed. I will not return to Nami Nori.
Misleading Claims and Disregard for Celiac Customers at Nami Nori Williamsburg
I had an incredibly disappointing and concerning experience at Nami Nori Williamsburg, a restaurant that claims to be dedicated to serving gluten and celiac-friendly food. I don’t usually write reviews, but the blatant disregard for my health and safety have left me no choice. Upon arriving, I made sure to inform the waitress about my Celiac disease. I was assured that Nami Nori’s entire food menu was in fact all gluten free and the only gluten they served was in the form of beer, but gluten-free beer options were also available. So I proceeded to order a gluten-free beer and when it arrived I made sure to check the label, just to be sure. I didn’t see any signs being gluten-free… After a few minutes, the manager later approached me and admitted that the beer was, in fact, not gluten-free and would bring the actual gluten-free beer in just a moment. If I hadn’t checked the label, I surely wouldn’t starting drinking it! Later the server approached me and carelessly claimed this was an "honest mistake.” Despite her initial apology, the waitress proceeded to avoid me for the rest of the evening. She wouldn’t talk to me but had no issue acknowledging the rest of my party. It is deeply disheartening to witness such unprofessional behaviour, especially when dealing with a health issue as critical as Celiac disease. As someone with Celiac disease, I rely on restaurants that genuinely prioritize the safety and well-being of their customers. Nami Nori's false claims and the subsequent mishandling of my dietary needs not only put my health at risk but also undermine the credibility of their supposed dedication to gluten-free dining. I urge those with Celiac disease or gluten sensitivities to exercise extreme caution when considering dining at Nami Nori Williamsburg. Their disregard for the health and safety of their customers is a grave concern that should not be taken lightly. In summary, my experience at Nami Nori Williamsburg was deeply disappointing and troubling, marked by misleading claims, a lack of understanding, and a dismissive attitude towards customers with dietary restrictions.
Fresh and light meal
We booked a last minute lunch reservation after having a craving for sushi during our trip. It was our first time having sushi in this style. I had the tuna poke, spicy tuna, yellowtail, spicy lobster, and spicy crab dynamite along with the matcharita drink. This was in our top 3 meals during the trip. Everything tasted fresh. Try this place at least once and find out for yourself.
Unconvincing sushi variety in loud restaurant
40.73020 -74.00309 This Michelin Bibi Gourmand restaurant combines a Japanese restaurant with a Japanese Pachinko arcade with dance music blaring from speakers. The acoustics are terrible in this modern and minimalist interior. People scream at each other for lack of soundproofing. Not the familiar quiet environment in Japanese restaurants. So not a place for a romantic dinner. Maybe outside on the sidewalk is better. In June 2023, we ordered the signature set ($32) from the temaki counter in a packed Friday night restaurant. I do not remember seeing temaki or hand rolls in Japan. Nami Nori is a fusion kitchen with many Asian influences, not just Japanese. It is similar to sushi, only sushi is rolled. We ordered the tuna poke with crispy shallots, x.o. scallop with tobiko & lemon, coconut shrimp with green curry, lime & cilantro, serrano salmon with ginger, myoga & tosazu and cucumber black sesame, shiso & plum. The hitachino yuzu lager 12 was not available and neither was an alternative. The five temaki ordered tasted good. Good use of wasabi. But was it special? We didn’t think so. Next time, go back to the familiar sushi train without bad soundproofing and dance music and let guests focus on what is important: the food combined with service and environment. Not recommended.
