Mosquito Supper Club New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
This was the gastronomic highlight of our time in New
This was the gastronomic highlight of our time in New Orleans. Hands down. Better than Peche. Better than Cochin, Commanders Palace and every other restaurant we tried. The ingredients are fresh. The technique is excellent. The presentation is artistic and exciting. The flavors are complex, subtle and hard to describe because they are using uncommon spices and ingredients. The portions are generous and the pricing, though expensive, feels well worth it. The service is professional, educated and excited about what they are doing. A fantastic experience.
Mosquito Supper Club Walk-in
Did a walk-in at the Mosquito Supper Club. For walk-ins they have some spots at the bar or in their courtyard. As NOLA presented some good weather we took the courtyard. Cosy dining with fresh ingredients made this dinner good, although the seasoning could be more on point for me. More spice and some extra punch to it would have done it for me. The waiter who took care of our table was amazing. He had so much knowledge 'bout the NOLA food culture and gave us a lot of advice of other good places that he would recommend. What a great service!
This is one of the finest dining experiences in New Orleans.
However, if you don't want a curated very tight series of dishes, in a family environment, don't come. This is a very specific place. If you are open to food sourced locally, prepared well, and served with care. Man. I love this place. Look at their website, make a decision. If you are able to, the best food I have had for while.
I was really excited for an interesting meal here, I came
I was really excited for an interesting meal here, I came around the holidays with my husband, parents, and brother. We're all adventurous diners and travelers so it seemed like a neat experience. I had a friend come with her husband and they highly recommended it. The whole vibe of the place was they kept saying they were here to make everyone feel right at home, and their focus was hospitality. So, my husband is allergic to oysters (we knew going in that he would sit that part of the meal out). I asked if he could have just a little more of the other items, such as the bread, and they said NO. I couldn't believe it, after all the constant hype about how they want to welcome you and make you feel at home, they wouldn't even give him another slice of bread (and especially for the price and the fact things are pretty much family style). The big table seating is generally fun, but we were sat next to the most sour of guests and it was so uncomfortable. They hardly ate a thing (again, deepening the insult that my husband couldn't just have a bit more of the other items being prepared), and didn't even say hello back or say anything if we asked to have an item passed. That's not the restaurants fault per se, but just know that by design you can't control your seat mates, and some times folks will lose out. But the final straw was that the owner/chef gave about a 30 minute speech about her approach to food and hospitality and it went on and on and on. It was very unwanted, seemingly by everyone. She kept asking if we all had questions and no one did...we just came to dine not for a recitation. It was so self centered and killed what little remained of a good vibe of our experience. I felt like I was in a Portlandia episode! This meal was my Christmas gift to family and unfortunately no one had a good time.
Unique dining experience to be enjoyed by foodie friends!
Incredible intimate dining experience! Our host and hostess eloquently described every dish in such great detail, it was culinary education in conjunction with an amazing meal. The ambiance was on point, we sat back patio near the backyard. Christmas lights sparkled almost representing firefly’s while Frank Sinatra (music request they gladly accommodated) played in the background.
Down right amazing!! The menu is different every day so
Down right amazing!! The menu is different every day so don't plan on using our pictures as a way to pick your dinner. Plus my pictures will never do the mean justice. Served family style in a small family house in a quaint neighborhood. This place can have a wait list that is like days or weeks so you cannot just plan to pop in. The wines are paired perfectly with each meal. Not one thing will leave you feeling like there was something missing. An absolute must come here!!!
Best boiled shrimp of my shrimp filled life.
One of the best bisques of my life. Lovely vibe and excellent service.
One of the coolest dining experiences I've had in New
One of the coolest dining experiences I've had in New Orleans -- and I've been coming to this city to eat for more than 10 years! We had a coursed chef's tasting with wine pairings from 2014 to celebrate their 10th anniversary! Mosquito Supper Club is a truly unique restaurant. Visitors often leave saying they felt like they went to dinner at a friend's house. Sitting inside a restored Victorian cottage in Uptown, New Orleans -- Mosquito Supper club hosts chef's tasting menus at 2 large communal tables, each set for 10 (and there are just a couple of 2-tops for a regular menu). Chef Melissa Martin, who started this place 10 years ago, was raised on home-cooked Cajun food -- and 90% of her restaurant's dishes were passed down to her from her mother. She gets nearly 100% of her ingredients from local fishermen and farmers, educates visitors on the history and flavors of Cajun cooking, and passionately advocates for the preservation of Louisiana wetlands and coastal communities. Her recent cookbook is titled, "Cajun Recipes from a Disappearing Bayou" -- and that's what she serves at her restaurant. Standout dish of the night: a crawfish bisque with stuffed heads: I've never had anything like it, but I want more! Honestly, everything from sweet potato biscuits, to the fresh salad, to the strawberry dessert was fantastic -- I just didn't have room to show it all!
Supper Tasting Menu x 2 = $270.
00 Wine Pairing x 2 = $130.00 Subtotal = $400.00 Service Charge (25%) = $100.00 Taxes = $51.00 Order Fee = $5.00 Total = $556.00 Have been wanting to try this place for several years and was in town and able to make a reservation a week or so in advance. Their cookbook is great. Cute place, a bit bare inside (at least in the room where we were seated). The table for two was a bit too small and the chairs not overly comfortable. There was another table for two across the room as well as a table seating either 8 or 10 people. The service was good but it did begin with some short explanations of what was to come, which left us wondering what to expect as other similar dining experiences have begun with a bit more information. The initial drinks took a few minutes to get which sort of left us wondering when they (the drinks) would be served. The food was good. The portions incredibly small. The wine pairings varied, in my opinion, from very good to poor. All in all, a lackluster experience at a very high price, and an experience that I would not want to repeat. I think stopping at the bar and having drinks and perhaps a few a la carte food items is the way to go. It's a neat place with a great concept and the website suggests they take care of their employees, including an offering of health insurance, all of which, of course, comes at a cost passed on to the consumer. In our case, the cost was $556.00 for two, with the wine pairings, plus a few extra bucks for additional drinks. As a former New Orleanian, the experience may be a bit wasted on me. Those from out of town may enjoy the show. We hope to go back for drinks and food, but will try the bar next time...if we can get seats.
One of the best meals I have had in my entire life.
If you can get past the high brow and pretentious attitude of some of the customers here, then you will be able to treat yourself to one of the best meals you will have in your entire life. The service, ambiance, and vibes (except for some of the other customers) here are great. But you come for the food and the food is amazing. There's no fancy Michelin restaurant technique and plates for instagram here. It's just food with amazing flavor that makes you feel like you're getting a real home cooked meal by grandmom. The food will transport you home or at least the feeling of being in someone's home and getting the best home cooked meal of your life. It's pricey, yes, but the money goes to support the staff having a quality life and the high quality of the food. It's worth every penny.
In a restored New Orleans house, this charming restaurant
In a restored New Orleans house, this charming restaurant was a perfect place for my birthday. Excellent wine, cocktails, food and service. We were, as per my request, seated on the screened in porch. Quieter than the rest of the restaurant, it had a pleasant breeze. Heaters kept us warm. In spite of the February chill outside, I was comfortable in shirt sleeves. We started off with sweet potato biscuits with Steen syrup butter. Delicious! The crab claws were plentiful and perfectly seasoned. The shrimp were huge and tasty. They gave us a special lagniappe appetizer- raw oysters and caviar. Wow! The oyster soup was OK. The last course of duck ( crispy and delicious), stuffed cabbage rolls, and winter salad was a hit. My daughter, who doesn't eat salad, loved it. The meal was finished off with a creamsicle. Light and creamy, with a delicious crunch alligator shaped cookie. I can't wait to go back!
Best dinner experience in New Orleans.
The secret garden dinner club. There is a vintage kitchen pots and pans store next door as well.
I struggled a bit to write this review, because I wanted so
I struggled a bit to write this review, because I wanted so badly for this meal -- our last dinner in NOLA at the end of a week-long visit -- to be fantastic. But I think my expectations were too high, so a few minor things left me feeling "meh" about the experience. As others have noted, I felt a disconnect between the sort of "take it or leave it" attitude on the booking website vs the welcoming tone of the host when we arrived. I had to psych myself up just to make the reservation (could I, as the website said, "handle" their philosophy and rules?) -- so I wasn't sure what to expect. But I resolved to follow the directions on the website, "check [my] energy" and try to enjoy the experience, and walking up to the house and settling in, the ambience was warm. The food was good, and some dishes -- the biscuits, the duck confit -- were terrific. But others (including, unfortunately, the oyster soup) were unremarkable or didn't seem cohesive within a course. I'm glad we chose the non-communal dining option, although we were seated next to it. And sadly, one of those patrons spent a *long* time, at several moments during dinner, bragging to the sommelier about their own travels and wine purchases, which kinda killed the mood for me. I realize that's not MSC's fault...but it was disappointing, and the food and service weren't enough to wow me.
We had a lovely experience.
I was nervous looking at some other reviews, and all those fears were quelled when we arrived. Service was 100% attentive the entire night. Food was fun and delicious. Ambiance was invigorating but not over the top. We opted to buy a bottle of wine instead of doing the pairing, and I was pleased with that decision. Though our table mates did the pairing and enjoyed it. Lastly, I emailed them at the last minute with a request for gluten free, and to my surprise, they accommodated it. Highly recommend. The only awkward part: sitting at a communal table, I found myself trying to extract conversation with other guests who seemed content to just sit there. But after a few drinks, everyone lightened up and it was a blast! Next time, we might bring some ice breakers to get the convo flowing more easily.
Amazing food in a beautiful location! The chef and staff
Amazing food in a beautiful location! The chef and staff really nail the locally sourced, traditional Cajun recipe inspired concept. Everything from the starter to the dessert was delicious, the staff was attentive and clearly passionate about both the food and the locally sourced ingredients. Try the communal tables for a fun "dinner party with strangers" experience or get a smaller table for just you and your friends. Side note, the non-alcoholic drinks were on point! The coffee cherry soda was especially tasty
Unique experience with delicious, local and fresh meal.
We had heard of the supper club from friends and we were very pleased. Tables were family style and reservation had a seating which left an intimate family style experience with an old classic New Orleans home. Crab jumbalaya stood out as the best thing we ate along with the oyster soup. Had the wine pairing as well, which was nice to pair specifically with the flavors but if you're a drinker, they had a bar available. Supper lasted about 3 hours and we ate well. Fun experience for a night out!
Ethereal! 🦀⚜️🍑
Unsure what all these other cranksters are upset about - this was hands down one of the better nights of my life. Creative, tasty food and delicious cocktails, and great company at the community table. It’s an investment but worth it. I was also thrilled to read that creator Melissa Martin, in addition to her steadfast support of local producers, works tirelessly to support coastal hurricane recovery efforts.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.

This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
