Koberl At Blue San Luis Obispo Reviews from The Last Year

Great ambiance, wonderful drinks, superb food and very friendly, competent staff makes this one of my favorites in San Luis
This charming restaurant on Monterey St.
has been one of the premier dining establishments in the City of SLO for many years. The food is consistently very good but our most recent meal on a busy Saturday night was a disappointment for two reasons: One, the restaurant ran out of bread (how do you do that?) and, two, the kitchen closed before 9pm, meaning "No dessert for you! -- here's your check!" This continues a recent very unfortunate trend in San Luis Obispo of restaurants that treat prominently posted hours (9pm closing for this one) as aspirational or best-case-scenario, depending on whim and business. Does it matter than someone might drive 30 miles to arrive for an 8:30pm meal? Apparently not to these folks. Our waitperson told us that a cost-benefit analysis had been undertaken and a decision made to close the kitchen as early as possible. OK, but should tips be rolled back to 3/4 of 20% too? Cost-benefit perspective...? On the bright side Korbel At Blue didn't close between our appetizers and the main courses. But given the high-handed approach to the spoon trade by city restaurants like this one, that may be a coming detraction.
We went here last night and the food was very disappointing.
We are vegetarians so we ordered the lettuce wraps which were tasteless. I ordered the mushroom raviolis which came out cold and had to be returned. They only give you TWO medium sized raviolis with some greens on top. Seriously, TWO raviolis for 25.00! The creme brûlée caramelized sugar was pretty thick and the custard was runny. Despite the lackluster meal, the service was quite nice! Overall, a disappointing experience that cost close to 150.00 without tip! We will not return.
This is a pricy restaurant for San Luis Obispo.
I enjoyed the cocktails, service and ambiance. The entree portion size is too small. I had a very small piece of halibut that was overcooked and came with one mushroom ravioli and a few spinach leaves.
This is one of the premier dining places in San Luis Obispo.
The ambience is quiet yet elegant. The service is incredible and the food is ... perfect! Whether you are a resident or a visitor, give your self a special treat with diner at Koberl At Blur. I think you will be very glad you did.

Picked here for our anniversary dinner and wasn't disappointed. Service was personal and left nothing wanting from us. The floor was full of families and smaller tables, everyone was respectful and enjoying themselves. Thanks for making our SLO visit very nice.
Simply the best place to have a cocktail in SLO town!
Simply the best place to have a cocktail in SLO town! Jeremy and Anika are wonderful hosts and the drinks are delicious! You simply must try it!
Delightful service.
Upscale and inviting atmosphere, and mostly TINY portions. Our Fuji apple salad had exactly eight leaves of lettuce. Three small scallops for an appetizer. The surf and turf special featured a dainty filet medallion and a miniscule "lobster" tail that we swore looked like a small prawn. One small butterflied prawn--maybe four small bites total. We should have sent the "lobster" back, but our server was a delightful angel, whom we all were smitten with. She even warned us about the small "lobster," but we sadly ordered it anyway. The creme brulee was burnt in places and the sugar-crust too thick, with a narrow layer of custard underneath. It too was worth sending back, and clearly prepped by someone inexperienced in fine dining. You'll end up spending around $100 per person and leave hungry unless you fill up on the delicious bread (which we did). One last thing, the duck confit was exquisitely prepared and definitely the highlight of our meal. Have also heard the lamb is excellent. But in a high-end restaurant, shouldn't one order with confidence and not have to dodge this and that?
First, the good points - warm and cozy ambience, good
First, the good points - warm and cozy ambience, good cocktails and the waitress serving us was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the good part ends here. I called a few days ago to reserve a table at 7:30 PM, and I was told that everything is booked at that time, and 7:00 PM is the only slot available. A bit strange, since half the tables were empty at 7:30 PM when we were dining there. Leaving that aside, our appetizers (chicken pot stickers) were disastrously bad - raw, uncooked dough with little filling inside. Our waitress graciously offered to change the plate, but sadly, what came back was worse than before. The new dish had exactly two potstickers - one was burnt, and another half-eaten one was thrown in - we were amazed at what is being served as a pricey appetizer. Does the chef not look at what they are serving, or is it some kind of crude revenge for reporting an uncooked dish? We did not touch this and sent it back (the restaurant did not charge us for this dish, but this spoiled our dining experience). The entrees were bad as well; the seafood grill was bland, the accompanying risotto was extremely dry; the pork chop was mediocre at best and the side dish was extremely corn-heavy. We did not have any intention of staying for dessert and left as soon as we could. Bad experience!
Disappointing
Dinner was much less memorable than several years ago. Cocktails were watered down, tasteless and expensive. Small salad for $16 with one lettuce leaf and not much else. Total bill for two was $200. Ridiculous. Used to be $90-100 for same meal. We wont be going there very often any more.
Too much money for too little food.
Great atmosphere, great service, but not so great food. The halibut, itself, was well-cooked and tasty, but it was advertised as coming with raviolies. I got ONE ravioli along with a little cooked spinach. We ordered the crab chamboisse (sp?) as an appetizer, which were basically crab balls or puffs. They were quite small, and there were only 3 on the plate. It was difficult to split the third one because there was a crab claw inside it. They were fairly tasteless, and not worth $18. We had a fruit cobbler for dessert, which was advertised as having a granola crust. The fruit part was delicious, but we couldn't find the granola crust anywhere. For the high cost of eating here, it wasn't worth it.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
