So extremely disappointing.
We waited 45 minutes + to have tasteless pastrami sandwiches on really horrible, cheap bread, and tasteless blintzes with cheap condiments (horrible tasteless cherry compote, and apple sauce and slightly soured cream.) We went out of our way to come here based on the hype and reviews and I think they are just trading on the history of the place. It just wasn't anything special at all, quite the reverse. Full disclosure, our server was lovely and after waiting over an hour we were just too exhausted and hungry to complain. This sub par culinary experience cost over $130 and was a total waste of money. I will never go back and wouldn't recommend Katz's to anyone. There are several other options in NYC and I really, really wish we had gone somewhere else, I just can't overstate how extremely disappointed we all were with the food.

You will queue outside for a short while, queue when you get in, all part of a fantastic experience though. Great place, staff are very welcoming and of course the Pastrami sandwich was literally the best sandwich Iโll ever have.
Be the first to ReplyGreat pastrami sandwiches, and gelato next door
We had been to Katzโs years ago, it was a hilariously fun โonly in New Yorkโ experience, so decided to go back. This time, we joined the crush of people lined up at the cuttersโ counter to order a sandwich. As crowded as it was, we had no trouble finding a place to sit. They do still have a table service section, though they didnโt say so up front; it used to be along the wall but now itโs only in the far back section near the restrooms. The pastrami is still moist and juicy, and one sandwich can easily be shared by two. They used to have more bread choices, now itโs only (seedless) rye or a roll. The rye was ok, but canโt hold up to the mountain of pastrami and began falling apart. Il Laboratorio gelato is still next door, and makes a perfect spot to finish off your meal with something sweet and refreshing.

I took the classic pastrami sandwich, the meat was good, but not excellent. The price is too expensive for what it is and the quality.

Itโs what the YouTube review says it was. The pastrami is oh so good, tender, juicy, and what a size for a small Asian like me. Truly worth the visit.

If you like pastrami and are in NYC, you need to eat at Katzโs. The deliciousness of the pastrami on rye is well worth any wait you might have (and you will!). We loved the pickles and got a plain knish to try as well. Really tasty and filling - a half sandwich filled me up, so glad we split the sandwich. And hang on to that ticket they give you when you walk in the door! Itโs your pass for going in as well as out when you are done!

The taste experience you take away from this place, highly recommended in all the reviews for the pastrami, is simply unforgettable. We also tried another restaurant that offers it in NYC but it disappointed us.

Da evitare Igiene pessima Cibo pessimo a prezzi folli. Low food low quality, dirty place and they push us to go out just after ordering

As a first timer to NYC, this is one of the must go places in my list. Katz's Deli has been around for over 100 years, serving the same delicious Jewish delis.

Fab black and white cookies and sandwiches for this long standing deli, even at even at penn station
Be the first to ReplyLunch with dad
Where do i start I traveled all the way from Tennessee to take my dad out to lunch who lives in New Jersey when we arrived at the restaurant. My dad stumbled and almost fell down the tall 6 foot two black bouncer was so empathetic and amazing and he helped my father along into a seat he also was showed a lot of caring, he is an asset to your store. Secondly, this is the best pastrami sandwich Iโve ever had in my life and my father felt the same way about the corn beef. We will be back again thanks so much.

Itโs must have to visit in NY! For me one of best pastrami which I eat everywhere. Itโs a legend place to eat not healthy, but delicious meat

So cool to go in and see first hand the busyness that is Katz. Absolutely gave the family institute vibe. Busy but service is efficient, they donโt muck around. Tables all filled with people dining in. Even the people in line waiting in front of me were super nice and offered some elite intel on what to get. Friendly service once you get up! A great deli & a great product. They live up to the hype.

If you are visiting New York you have to eat at Katz's. For lunch I suggest to arrive at 12:15 to 12:30 so you do not have to make a line outside. Absolutely all the food is superb!

Ten mins wait outside and was with every minute. We decided to go straight to the end of the room for table service. Our server John was super efficient and explained everything clearly. We got two pastrami on rye, one Reuben and one fries between us. Four soft drinks also ordered. Bill came to $110 and left $20 tip on top of that. Would go back again for sure.
