Dishoom Shoreditch London Reviews from The Last Year
Best meal we had in London! Seven at our table -- we
Best meal we had in London! Seven at our table -- we ordered just about everything to share!!! Stunningly good. Among the favorites were the samosas, Black Dal and Chicken Tikka.
We had a very expensive lunch at Dishoom and I didn't think
We had a very expensive lunch at Dishoom and I didn't think there was anything special about the food, the service, or the space. The menu was unnecessarily complicated and we didn't want to invest the time needed to sort through it all so we tried a few of the waiter's recommendations. The food was good, but it was comparable to much less expensive Indian restaurants in the same neighborhood. I was not impressed and will not be returning.
I have been obsessed with Dishoom ever since I ate them for
I have been obsessed with Dishoom ever since I ate them for the first time years ago. It's super popular and everyone I talk to whether they are from here or visiting London seem to know it. Also evidenced by the fact that there was a 1 hour wait to get a table. They serve you chai and lemonade while you are in line which makes up for the wait...a little. The wait was 30 minutes in line and then got seated at the bar and another 30 minutes there before getting a table. Super good service, ambiance, and the food is delectable. I don't wait for an hour at any restaurant except for this one.
First time in London and I wanted to try some good Indian
First time in London and I wanted to try some good Indian food. I didn't get good Indian food, I got Amazing Indian food. I had the chicken ruby, rice, and garlic naan as well as an Old Fashion which had their own unique twist. Just to reiterate, the food was excellent, well portioned, though I could have eaten until it hurt. One tip. Very busy so make sure to get a reservation. If not you will probably not get a seat. Price was reasonable btw and the servers were great. Attentive but not intrusive. Lastly, casual fun atmosphere. You can sit inside or out. May go there again before I leave London.
Read lots of great reviews on this chain of Indian
Read lots of great reviews on this chain of Indian restaurants. We were starving at 9pm and Dishoom was open til 11:00pm. A quick U we ride to the location in ShoreDitch and a short 10 minute wait at the bar.... Brought us to a nice table. Tip: if you get drinks at the bar they just add them to your dinner tab. Food: portions were perfect for 2 people. We ordered lots of things: vegetable samosas, chilli chicken, masala prawns, garlic and cheese naan, chicken ruby(butter chicken) and a hefty portion of rice. Service was great! Servers were running all Over the place. It was busy at 10:00pm. Although tipping is not expected in London, the restaurant does add a service charge on your bill so just be aware.
Came by for breakfast and it was a world class experience.
Made a reservation via Google/SevenRooms and my table was ready upon arrival. Dishoom is located in Shoreditch and the 26 bus stops across the street from the restaurant. Entrance is on the other side of the road. Dining js available indoors or in the heated and covered patio. Started off with the chai and it was flavorful, strong, with a hint of spice. Moved on to the sausage and egg Naan for breakfast and it was tasty. The naan was light and fluffy while the sausage was cooked to perfection and the egg was slightly runny. Service throughout the meal was cordial and helpful
Food: excellent and well seasoned.
We ordered a large variety. Started with their garlic and cheese naan. Also got Vegetable samosas. Also had their grilled shrimp and chicken dishes ( similar butter chicken) and chili chicken. All very tasty. Price was matching their portion size. Staff: everyone was quick to help and provide refills on drinks. Ambiance: this location was very popular. We only waited about 10 minutes at the bar. We arrived around 9:00pm.
This is the best British Indian food I've gotten to enjoy.
It's a local and tourist favorite spot to visit! It fits the bill for all occasions. Highly recommend getting the house special (Black Daal) and house appetizer. We also ordered garlic naan and rice as sides. Overall, 10/10 recommend!
Such a fun experience last time we were in London! We were
Such a fun experience last time we were in London! We were able to score a table after only a short wait which I believe is almost unheard of here. Now that we've been we understand the hype. Service was lovely, atmosphere was warm and lovely, and food was delicious - especially the lentils. Loved the cocktails as well. Would love to try it again next time we're in London!
Dishoom is just as good as everyone says and it's not
Dishoom is just as good as everyone says and it's not overhyped (I was a skeptic)! The decor is vibrant and the restaurant has a nice ambiance. I went to the shoreditch location and they have outdoor and indoor dining. I was sitting in the outdoor area which was heated and incredibly cozy. Our servers were incredibly attentive - they filled our waters (but not too much), checked in on us, and brought us our food pretty quickly. I ordered the roomali roti, the daal, and the chili chicken. For drinks, I tried the Indian Gimlet and the Espresso Martini. I typically wouldn't have ordered the daal because it's something I could easily make at home but the daal was absolutely phenomenal. It was so flavorful and creamy but not too heavy. The roomali roti is soft and fluffy - perfect with the daal. In terms of my drinks, they both were really good. The espresso martini has chili in it, which added a nice flavorful kick to it. This is some of the best Indian food that I've had and I've been to India. I'm going to dream about this place for a while and hope to be back!!
