A trauma that is difficult to overcome.
From Alighiero to Anghiari I fear I have lived the most traumatic and denigrating experience I could have had in a restaurant so far. I was in this place with a group of 5 other people and we ordered 1 Tuscan appetizer, 1 tomato soup, 2 bringoli with ragù (overcooked), 1 tripe, 1 alpino chapel with truffle, 1 caramelized turkey with vegetables, 1 morsel beef. The dishes are absolutely banal and not at all in keeping with the Tuscan culinary tradition: all dishes which, especially due to the quantity of food displayed on the plate, can be cooked much better at home. The wine we chose, a 2009 Carmignano, had a finger resting on the bottom of the bottle and, moreover, we weren't even allowed to taste it. The prices are exorbitant for the level and quality of the restaurant and the dishes offered: the cover charge alone costs 4 euros per person. But the worst aspect was undoubtedly the owner. Immediately after consuming the meal we got up to go to the cash register to pay because we had an appointment for a guided tour of a village near Anghiari. The owner, however, abruptly invites us to return to the table because, according to him, 6 people could not stand in front of the cashier waiting for the bill, an attitude he did not treat equally to other people. After bringing the bill to the table, we return one at a time to the cash register to pay the bill and, like any group of friends, we expect to be able to split the credit card payment. The owner replies that this is not possible, as dividing the bill into 6 would have meant paying higher bank commissions and therefore invites, with no small arrogance, one of us to bear the payment in full. We point out to him that it would be nice for a restaurateur to warn customers in advance of this impossibility of splitting payments. In response, he accuses us of not having warned him of our intention to pay separately and, above all, he denigrates us for having ordered "only" 2 starters, 3 first courses and 3 second courses and for having got up from the table quickly, without even waiting for the get rid of. At this point, a show takes place that I feel uncomfortable even reporting. The gentleman continues to defame us, calling out various kinds of insults towards us, such as, and I quote: "if you are used to eating at Ikea, it's not my fault". At a certain point, in the face of our continuous protests, he even threatened to "beat us", to use his words, in front of all his customers. Finally, to stop this disgusting scene, I offer to pay the bill in full. The gentleman makes me pay and, the icing on the cake, issues me a first receipt of 16 euros against a bill of 168 euros. Faced with our umpteenth protests, he reissues the correct receipt. I'm only sorry that we had a commitment right after lunch, otherwise we would have filed a regular complaint with the Guardia di Finanza. I believe it is truly unseemly that a restaurateur of such para-criminal level can continue to practice his profession unpunished, recommended, moreover, by an authority in the world of food and wine tourism such as the Michelin Guide. I feel really disgusted just thinking back to the experience I had in this place.
To think badly…
Perhaps I could have overlooked the exaggerated prices of a place with mediocre cuisine and nouvelle cuisine portions or even the €4 cover charge in the absence of tablecloths and with self-service cutlery in the center of the table. Maybe even on the owner's grumpy ways during service, simply archiving the experience as not to be repeated. However, I cannot remain silent about what happened at the time of the bill, which I consider absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional and which made the experience more than terrible. The owner refused to accept a credit card payment unless there was only one card to be used (we were a group of 6 friends) or there was an increase of €5 each to cover the elusive commissions. To our complaints, to which he could have responded politely, trying to find a compromise with us, he instead began to offend us for not having ordered enough dishes, for having asked for the bill before he came to the table to clear the table (and to offer us the sweet probably), calling us a "not very serious" group (?) and inviting us to go to lunch at Ikea (?). The icing on the cake was that he threatened to beat up one of us who obviously pointed out his shameful behavior to him. We therefore preferred to pay according to his methods, only to receive a receipt of only €16 (compared to a bill of €170). Someone might think badly and put forward the hypothesis that perhaps the real problem for him was not the "commissions".
Never again
In a place where you pay 4 euros cover charge, cutlery in a basket on the table... a dog walking around the restaurant... the owner/manager very unprofessional, from the way he expressed himself to the way he dressed... . stratospheric prices for mediocre dishes and ridiculous quantities. Everyone very disappointed. There's no going back. (The cook, perhaps German, is kind but does not compensate for the mediocrity of the restaurant).
What a pity
Bad experience!!! I had dinner with my husband. Distracted welcome from an untidy and professional owner, I think. Average plates, leather-like placemat, cutlery in a steel basket, blue napkins... everything is not very homogeneous. Furthermore, the place is not very clean, tables half need cleaning and a dog running around. I add up the dishes taken to 37 euros, total bill 55 euros! 18 euros per service, a bottle of water and a glass of red wine. Wine of which we don't know what type because my husband was asked for red or white! What a pity.

Arrogance
Not a good experience, from entering the restaurant, greeted without any attention by this gentleman, the owner. When asked what wine he suggests, he replies that it has everything. There was no wine list, nor did he make us approach the cellar to choose the bottle, as he did with another customer. The glasses of red wine, filled who knows where and who knows what it was. We let it go because we should have gotten up and left. Mrs. Silvia sweetened everything a lot, with her smile and competence. Not to be repeated, unfortunately. It is always sad to see the ill will and arrogance of those who should be outside of likes or dislikes.

Very nice restaurant, with hundreds of bottles on display. Very welcoming host. Tuscan dishes cooked reasonably well. Medium-high prices.

To be avoided
The place is nice and the food isn't bad either but the small portions and the total lack of kindness and hospitality from the owner made our lunch here the only sore point of a beautiful weekend. I wouldn't go back and I definitely don't recommend it.
The most memorable restaurant of our 6 week trip in Italy.
We had countless wonderful meals but Sylvia and Gianni's was the best. Sylvia's food is sublime. We went back several times and tried almost everything on the menu before we left town. The food is delicious, creative and beautifully presented. The decor is historic but not pretentious and Sylvia and Gianni are wonderful people. My husband was nostalgic just now, wishing we could go there for dinner as we sit here half way around the world. That should tell you how good it is because it was eight months ago and we both still remember it with much love.

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
