Good with insufficiencies
Overall a pleasant stay but expectations are compared to location and price. This isn’t a cheap hotel and it is a 5-star hotel. Our room was quite nice, not corresponding to the room seen on the photos but still nice. Bed is comfortable and room is pretty and functional. The bathroom has room for improvement though. The shower is a bathtub which is very unhandy. Prefer much more a walk-in shower. The shower head can barely reach from the middle to the end of the tub where you can place it hands-free. The water has difficulties going down the drain. The screen to protect water from going everywhere is short and water will go out into the bathroom. Not convenient. There handsoap on the sink is in a lovely antique styled dispenser which however you press once and little soap comes out and then you cannot press anymore unless you manually lift it up before being able to press one more time. Unhandy! Behind the toilet there is an irontube with water inflow, that tube hasn’t been dusted for I’d say years. A thick layer of dust! Service at reception is decent. Very impersonal but it is what it is. Spa was good without being mindblowing. Will review inhouse restaurant in a separate review. What dragged the final rating under sufficient was due to the last day. Or rather evening. We had been out dining and returned at 9:30 pm. The parking was completely full. So full that we had to back out navigating narrrowly between cars. We then found a spot not very suitable for parking and went in to adk where we could park and the response we received was that the parking is full because a lot of people came to their restaurant but that we could drive out and find parking on some of the streets surrounding the place. When we asked if there was a parking section for hotel guests vs those coming for the restaurant the answer was no and that we could go down at midnight and see if we could find a spot again!!!! So a 5-star hotel where you stay 3 nights and pay not little for a room, they value the restaurant guest that is staying for a few hours more than their own guests. Very interesting concept and a very poor choice of management. This alone puts the vote to an insufficient!
Disappointing
During my recent stay in your establishment, I was confronted with a series of inconveniences which greatly tarnished my experience. As soon as I arrived, an unpleasant smell, which I could compare to that of "a ski boot closet", permeated the room, probably due to a problem with the ventilation duct. Despite my remarks, reception denied any presence of odor, which left me perplexed and disappointed. The spa, a place of relaxation par excellence, did not spare me either. The edges of the swimming pool, invaded by mold, betrayed a blatant lack of maintenance. I took the initiative of capturing these shortcomings in photos which I have at your disposal. The shower, for its part, was not to be outdone with a siphon of more than questionable cleanliness, inhabited by old hair and mold, testifying to a lack of attention to detail. Even aspects that might seem minor in another context, such as the duvet placed inside out and the presence of piles of dust on the floor in the room, took on particular importance in the context of a Relais & Châteaux establishment. , where excellence is supposed to be the norm. Accustomed to quality establishments, this experience was particularly disappointing for me. The architectural beauty of a hotel cannot compensate for poor service and cleanliness. Your “house” does not honor the Relais & Châteaux brand, nor the French hotel ranking.

We had lunch in this very beautiful place, we had been planning this for many years. A friendly welcome, an aperitif setting in a lounge. The sommelier is very pleasant and mischievous. A very beautiful culinary discovery was offered to us. Refined, tasty, the dishes follow one another and surprise. From appetizers to dessert, it's a delight! The chef, whom we saw in the courtyard upon arrival and behind the window of his kitchen upon leaving, greeted us with a wave of his hand. The outfit of the waitresses and waiters is original! It's a change from the strict black suit! Will the star be awarded to the chef?

Disappointing stay
Overall we were very disappointed with our stay and remain on a bitter note, which will not allow us to recommend this hotel, which is not 5 star. Regarding the reservation, it was easily made via the hotel website, but, upon confirmation, the request was not processed in its entirety and it was necessary to call the hotel (missing spa and meal reservations at bistro). In terms of the room, although pretty, it was not cleaned nor the beds remade between the 2 nights of our stay. A maid came by, we asked her to come back a little later, knowing that we would not be in our room between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. It wasn't a problem, she said. However, she apparently never returned. Regarding the meal at the hotel restaurant, the service was extremely noisy, crowded and disorganized. A multitude of waiters and sommeliers cluttered the space, making it very noisy. During the meal, we had no less than 8 different servers and information was not passed between them. The food, although good, was constantly covered in fish roe, hiding the flavors of the region's products. We left this meal completely exhausted. What to say about the Spa: we were presented with the different equipment, then, as we were unable to get the ice machine to work, we went to ask the person at reception for advice. His response was: you can't make it work because it doesn't work. Why, then, not tell us this when she presented it to us? At the bistro level, the service is just polite. When asking for information about the wine, we were curtly told to look on the menu… The breakfast is excellent, but the service again leaves something to be desired: no/few waiters, which meant that we only got our drinks after having finished our plates. It's not very pleasant, it must be said. And finally, at the end of the stay, the bill was wrong, the menu charged at the hotel restaurant did not correspond to what we had consumed. The person at reception, although attentive, was not capable of making the correction. We still had to wait. For these reasons, we do not recommend this hotel which is not up to 5 star standards. The fact that the room was not cleaned is, from our point of view, unacceptable.
Beautiful Itami-Jura alliance
Very nice table with a newly arrived chef. The dishes are very well made, mention of the scallop tartare and spaghetti. The service is at the level as well as the setting certainly very pleasant in summer. Non-starred chef who should quickly win his first star.
So much better this time.
We used to come to Chateau de Germigney for more than 20 years, often more than once a year. No we haven't been there for more than a year. Too much had changed in a not very positive way. And we haven’t eaten there last time because we really disliked the cooking of the then new 2 star chef while we loved to eat the great food of the longstanding former chef. Because things at the restaurant have now changed again, we wanted to give it another try. And were not to be disappointed. Francesco di Marzio knows how to cook. No wonder, having worked with Anne Sophie Pic before, another great chef. We had the four course menu and just loved every single one. Loved it so much that we really regretted that the delicious spaghetti portion was a bit on the small side. After four courses you do not feel hungry anymore it was just so good that you wanted another bite. Service was friendly, a mostly new and young crew in a rather unusual attire, if we dare say so. And we had the pleasure of meeting Francesco himself having finished our dinner, a very nice young man. We assured him that we will come back for more spaghetti. The hotel itself underwent also a few changes. The team at reception was quite different than the one we met last year. Very nice, very helpful. Not being happy about the fact that «our» usual room had no carpet anymore, strangely two different kind of drapes on the windows and had also lost the drapes of the four poster, we were offered another room that was recently refurbished. We trust that no 17 will look better when we will be there next time. And also the garden shed, not looking up to scratch and not befitting a hotel and garden like this. No turndown service anymore. Of course we can turn down a bed but after all the hotel boasts five stars now... All that said, we are happy to return again in the not too distant future. We did miss it.
ROSELLA HOUSE: EXTRA!!!!
Finally !!! We wanted to return to this magnificent place thanks to the change of chef and we were not disappointed, quite the contrary...New decor, new dishes, new signature...Many flavors, improbable combinations but which work wonderfully...Everything was delicious (even the olive oil was exceptional). Well, we were a little frustrated with the spaghetti with caviar dish because it was so delicious that we would have eaten more 😋...Really faultless... Efficient, smiling service, good advice from the sommelier ... The only thing we regretted was no longer seeing the old photos that littered the reception wall. Apparently, it was the former chief who removed them, it's a shame, we removed part of the soul of this castle.... In any case, we really welcome Francesco Di Marzio to our region, hoping that he enjoys it... Thank you to all the wonderful team who gave us a memorable time....
calming setting
Lonely castle, comfortable and cozy, allowing you to take a break for a weekend. The spa has everything you need to relax. The price of a night remains a bit expensive. Breakfast, although relatively expensive, is of high quality. Very caring staff.

We spent 2 days at the Château de Germigney and we found it very pleasant to be woken up by the manager who didn't even say hello 3/4 of an hour before we asked for breakfast in the room and who called us to tell us that she is all alone and that she cannot bring it up and what's more, when we left I realized that she lied to us since she was not alone there was a waiter with her in a 5 star castle relay this is unacceptable
