Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
Nice location on the harbor.
Not crazy loud but it is kinda loud in here on a Friday night. Our waiter Conner D. was great as well as the hostess this evening. Only negative was I felt the mahi tacos could use a little crema as they seemed a little dry. The fresh kettle chips were a great touch though. Calamari was some of the best I have had in a while. Overall the food and drinks were great.

Definitely recommend stopping by and saying hello to "Conner D." absolute top notch service... Super friendly and fast table service
We spent a special evening celebrating our 49th wedding
We spent a special evening celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary at the Brigantine Portside Pier. We were seated on the patio at the perfect table where we dined and watched a beautiful sunset. Our waitress, Kelly, made this anniversary a very special one giving us the perfect amount of attention and taking care of us in every way. If you have the opportunity to enjoy a meal here be sure to ask for Kelly as your waitress, you will be glad you did. My wife had the swordfish and I had the grilled swordfish tacos, both were prepared perfectly. Calamari strips for an appetizer are a must. As a final note to Kelly, Thank you so much for making this anniversary dinner one of the best for both my wife and I. We will definitely be back.
Consistently excellent service.
Great views of San Diego bay. Excellent wine list and cocktails and beer. Very nice and tasty dishes. This is a great place to catch some nice views of the bay with a drink and friends.

It was nice other than when we were outside it rained, and we were escorted in quickly. So our waiter forgot about us for a while. It was busy, so it wasn't terrible because it was the end of our service. Other than that food was a little pricey, but amazing view from the outside seating.

Great ambiance and service! The octopus appetizer was delicious. Would come back again and try new entrees!

We came by to Brigantine for lunch after seeing such fun vibes by the water. We were seated on the patio in the back and while it was warm out it was quite breezy outside. We preferred the grilled swordfish, Mahi Mahi sandwich, and fish and chips. Everything was super yummy. I personally had the swordfish and felt it was a tad over cooked. The lemon butter offered more flavor to the fish. The Parmesan risotto was so delicious and a massive portion. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal!

Visiting from Orange County, I wasn't expecting much from a seafood restaurant in a tourist hot spot, but I was wrong! I had the classic fish tacos, oysters, clam chowder and the sword fish. I had plenty of swordfish from other fine dining seafood restaurants, and this has to be one of the best I've had. The swordfish was very tender, tasted fresh, and cooked well. The classic fish tacos had a very good flavor. Clam chowder had a great balance in flavor, and wasn't too thick or watery. Just the right consistency. The oysters were great also. I didn't get that grit/dirt/rock pebble in the oyster, which I hate. The oysters were clean, and horse radish tasted house made. We sat at the patio with a beautiful view of the navy & pirate ship. Our waiter was great, and made sure we were well taken care of. We were staying at the hotel across the street so we didn't have to deal with parking, but it did look like it could be a bit challenging during the busier times. Very modern upscale vibe, but relaxed dress code. Just found our new seafood spot next time we are in the area, which is often.
Great food, great service, and beautiful views of the bay.
Excellent place for a date night or lunch date, or to celebrate a birthday. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. The drinks are awesome, recommend the passion fruit margarita and the Rye Old Fashion. Paid/metered parking is available adjacent to the restaurant. Recommend to sit inside on cold windy days, but patio seating heaters may be turned on upon request.

I've always passed by this place and finally decided to give it a try. The food was great but the biggest standout was our server, Veronica. She was so sweet! My fiancé and I love espresso martinis but unfortunately there were none on the menu. She was able to suggest an alternative drink made with coffee which turned out to be fantastic! We felt very taken cared of throughout our meal.

Was unpleasantly surprised after my first dinner at Brigantine. To start, I was very excited to try this spot on the water and hide high expectations given that it's right on the waterfront next to the Star of India. Ambiance: exactly as gorgeous as I expected. Service: average. Waitress was friendly and attentive, bar tenders were standoffish and the drinks were poorly crafted. Tried the Yuzu martini, which was awful. Tried the gin/prosecco cocktail, which tasted like straight lavender syrup. Had a glass of wine ... what can I expect, it was a Decoy cab, which was the waitress' suggestion. If that's the best they've got, it's a problem ... Food: this menu is extremely pork and shellfish heavy. I got the miso salmon, which was soggy and on top of what I would describe as a cream cheese base and frozen/reheated stir-fry veggies. The Brussels sprouts had absolutely no flavor. The toasted s'mores dessert tasted like a brownie-mix out of a box. No depth, too sweet. Not sure if I'd come back. I think the quality of anything consumable here is tourist-grade at best.

I hosted an event here at Brigantine Portside with about 30 guests in a private beautiful room. The room was the perfect size with such an amazing view of the water and private access to the balcony by the water. Michelle was who communicated with me about details of everything and she was so sweet and answered every single question i had, and it was a lot of questions! Chanel showed me the room and again, she was very friendly and answered any questions and noted what we wanted to do on certain details. The day of the event, Brigantine made my event perfect and mostly due to the amazing waiter, Forest. Forest was literally the best! Such a professional, attentive, kind, and respectful guy. He was excellent and I cannot say enough nice things about him! Honestly everyone said the food and drinks were amazing, the ambiance and vibe was perfect! I would recommend Brigantine to anyone, whether its just a casual/fancy dinner, or for an event like my own. The one thing I will say is if you are doing an event then the service/tip automatically included is pretty hefty compared to other places I researched so that was one thing we weren't so happy about, but we made the decision to still have the event here and we were not disappointed with the service in the slightest!
Amazing food & views, and the service was impeccable!
Amazing food & views, and the service was impeccable! Highly recommend Eugene as a server he truly is wonderful & made the dinner top notch.
A must when in San Diego :-D
Friends had already taken me over some time ago, it was a great experience so I was very happy to go back. Even if I knew the fish is excellent, I ordered a burger (my boyfriend liked it so much he almost stole it from me ... hahaha!!!) and it was delicious. Our friends ordered calamari fo share so we got a little bit of everything. Not to mention the desserts ... yummy!!! Let me say if an Italian says a restaurant is good, it really is because we are so fussy about food. And I have to say we were attended by the sweetest and most professional waitress - I hope I remember her name well, Kelsey ... she has beautiful ginger hair. Thank you so very much for a lovely night.
Another good evening
This visit confirmed what our last one was, a truly enjoyable experience. We had a table with a nice view of the bay, the service was attentive without being overbearing and the food was delicious. This is a large, busy and popular place so make sure you have a reservation to avoid a long wait. There are several other restaurants in the Brigantine family in the same location.
food was ok. service was terrible.
food was ok. service was terrible. seated with no issue. chose to sit outside. staff might want to mention that conversations will periodically be impossible due to jet aircraft noise. They did not mention this. Table was clean but no setup. Ordered apps, apps delivered, still no setup. Asked a passing server for a setup. Waited, No setup. I had to get up, go inside and help myself to a setup from an empty table. Thus, our apps were several minutes removed being hot but still ok. Not even half-way through the apps when entries arrived, compounding the error. For this price, one would expect service slightly north of what is available when ordering a footlong. So many unforced errors.
Worst Service in San Diego
This review relates to the Top Sail bar. Absolutely appalling service. Ignored, then waited 15 minutes to be served with a glass of wine. Asked if I could plug my iPhone in and was told no, due to ‘liabilities’! Was then offered a seat 10 feet from the bar but told I had to settle my tab and start a new one! Another 15 minute wait. Was going to have food but service was so shocking decided to go. Nobody even acknowledged us leaving. Great location, but worst bar I’ve been to for service in San Diego.
Absolute best seafood!
There is 6 of us girls that go on a yearly trip, this year we chose San Diego, was absolutely the best! We were referred to the Brigantine by a friend who had just been there. Wow! It was fantastic, the waiters were top notch, checked on our every need, the atmosphere was spectacular. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. It is a "Don't miss" if you visit San Diego!
Good Food; Good Service and Good people watching!
Spectacular view and excellent food! Service was pretty good. We were lucky enough to be seated over looking the ocean and had a perfect view of the sunset.
Birthday lunch
We came here for my birthday and we had a wonderful lunch. At first, I was a little disappointed because we were not given an outside seating even though there were a lot of vacant seats outside. The not-so-friendly hostess said that if we don't have a reservation they can't give us outside seating, which I kinda understand. The only thing that I didn't understand was they gave outside seating to the people who came after us and didn't have a reservation either. I heard the hostess telling them the same thing she told us but they ended up giving them an outside seating…and it's for a table of two also. I wished they could've granted my request since it was my birthday and I did mention it to the hostess. Anyhow, the mood changed because our server, Diana I think her name, was very friendly and very accommodating. We enjoyed the food, they were all very good. We had a wonderful experience except for the hostess who almost ruined my birthday lunch. This is just one hostess who doesn't know how to smile, the other gals were very nice and friendly.
A very memorable lunch at Brigantine (Portside Pier, San Diego)
We had an excellent lunch at Brigantine (San Diego). We were seated on the patio right above the water and overlooking the pier. It was a dream environment. We had their clam chowder, lunch special (Halibut stuffed with crab, sun dried tomato risotto & broccolini) and fish & chips which was the best I’ve ever tasted. We have only great comments to say about the above dishes. For dessert we had the mud pie and bread pudding, both are very memorable. We will make going to Brigantine a tradition when we go to San Diego. We can’t forget our server, Merry C., she was very pleasant and helpful!
