Big T's Restaurant & Takeaway Hull Reviews from The Last Year
Yes, yes and yes!!!! There wasn't one thing I didn't like
Yes, yes and yes!!!! There wasn't one thing I didn't like here! I had fried green tomatoes, corn, fried okra, fries, flounder, whiting, key lime cake and red velvet cake. It was so good I forgot to take pictures, that never happens. Every time they brought something to the table I started devouring it! The service was amazing and everyone was super welcoming and friendly. The prices were very reasonable and when the owner came to bring our food he told us they have all you can eat crab legs so we definitely have to return to try their sauce!
Poor
Normally love this place but got takeaway today ordered 2 fish 1 Pattie 1 chips and 2 mushy peas didn’t get the Pattie peas where cold chips looked and tasted like they had been kept warm from yesterday won’t be returning
The food is excellent but check your Togo order before
The food is excellent but check your Togo order before leaving the building. I was missing a few things that I paid extra for and was a little disappointed. I will be more diligent next time I get my togo order.
Have always had a great experience, dining in or picking up.
They know how to prepare seafood and never disappoint. The shrimp and grits is delightful and unpretentious - it's straightforward, without all the extra frou-frou other restaurants seem to think should be added in. The shrimp are always tender, never overcooked, and the grits are creamy and medium textured as grits should be. All of their fried fish are delicately breaded with good, fresh flavor and texture. Their sides are spot on. Orders are delivered quickly from the kitchen. The dining room reminds me of all the best little local seafood joints I remember from my younger years living on the coast - small, clean, a few tables, large windows, and comfortable. Nice spot for casual dining.
Been looking for a good seafood spot for awhile and kept
Been looking for a good seafood spot for awhile and kept passing here and hearing good things so we finally tried it for ourselves. The inside is very spacious and can accommodate various party sizes. The menu is your standard seafood variety with the crab boil being the highlight so that had to ordered. Honestly the prices were more than they should be for the portion size so I didn't even get a main course and got the fried pickles which were delicious. 2 entrees and an app with 3 drinks almost put me in triple digits, so for as good as it was I will try another spot to compare before making a second stop. Food is fantastic though, don't get me wrong...Still worth trying if you are in the area though!
Great fish best in Hull, small size fish is generous!
What can I say? We haven’t been since last year and it’s great 😊. We all had the small fish and chips with mushy peas (pictured) for a reasonable £7.95. If you’ve been before you’ll know unless you’re really Hungary this is enough, more like a regular or large size would be at shop fish and chip places. The fish is always very white and fresh much better than the frozen stuff you have out of your freezer at home, and the batter is crispy but thin, the chips are perfectly cooked and mushy peas are tasty. There are lots of other items on the menu if you prefer like fried breakfasts. We all had ice cream to finish. The staff were mainly new this time. The interior is modern it has images of Hull FC, Hull KR and Hull City for sports fans and about the local fish supplier they use. P.S- They have a takeaway next door too near the benches were workmen seem to like to go for lunch.
I ordered the Big T's platter with flounder and shrimp.
The flounder was crispy even after 15 min ride home the shrimp not so much, but still delicious. The portion size was amazing for the price. The hushpuppies were also good. If you're a fan of homemade tarter you won't enjoy theirs, it was different but still good.
Great
This was a great restraint to go with family quick service and warm food as expected tastes banging lovely chippy and the gravy was delightful don’t get me wrong I would definitely go here with my sigmas again
Please please please save your money.
I would have given 0 stars but that was not an option. This was the worst fried seafood I have ever had. I have come here several times because my sister lives nearby Everytime I come I say I am not coming back. I am not a person to leave reviews but they charged me $2.60 for a piece of kraft American cheese and put it at the bottom of these tasteless grits. I don't even think it was 4 oz. $80 meal for my sister and I to eat salty seafood with no other seasoning. I should have continued back to Atlanta or blessed another establishment with my money. This place is also a dump. I am all for a hole in the wall if the food is good. The service is not great either. I expressed my disappointment and the waitress looked at me and did not say a thing. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!

I stopped in on a layover one weekend and the food was delicious , especially the farm raised bream, WOW!!!
Nice fish & chips
Started using this fish shop when my regular shop on Kingswood closed. The fish and chips are far better and also better value for money. The batter on the fish is lovely. Will keep using this shop and recommend it
Great little restaurant on Sutton Fields
My favourite place in Hull for fish and chips. Always good service and excellent value for money. Me and a mate both had the small haddock and chips with mushy peas for £7.95, which was very nicely cooked and a good sized portion. I'd like to try the all day breakfast next time I'm down there, because it looks great, but I'll probably go for the fish and chips again once I smell them.
BIG thumbs up!
Fast becoming maybe one of my favourite chippy's, only have to be in the area, and we're there for something to eat. Previously we've had fish and chips, and the fish was cooked perfect, the batter crispy, not at all leaving you with that greasy feeling you sometimes get at some chip shops. Today we stuck, with pattie chips and mushy peas. For my foreign friends, it's a delicacy in this city, 😂 (basically mash potatoes, bit of sage, onion, battered and deep fried), It's just something Hull people have been brought up on One thing I like are the mushy peas here, and the chips, are cooked perfect every time we've been, next to no scrappy ones. Although I thought today's portion was a little on the smaller side to previous portions, yes I'm greedy and I noticed.. But yeah really I've never had a bad meal here, enjoyed every meal. I'm so tempted to try that megadon fish, they do. It's a good chippy people
Food was good and service was great.
But for some reason a lady walked up to me and my friend while we was talking work stuff and cursed me and called me a name. Kinda crazy. But coming from Cali I am used to that kind of stuff. Not sure I'll eat there again. But it was a nice restaurant other then what happen. Hope you can enjoy yourself when your there and not have hate given your way.
