Banana Island Daly City Reviews from The Last Year
The food is absolutely delicious! Everything and anything
The food is absolutely delicious! Everything and anything you order will taste great. Their roti appetizer is absolutely amazing and melts in your mouth. The service can be slow at times during busy hours and always call ahead to reserve your table. The restaurant is near a parking garage and parking at the target and walking there is a lot better.
Parking in mall parking structure.
Food was tasty Roti Canali was their main attraction, crispy, doughy served with curry gravy excellent. Tofu sizzling platter very good taste with soft tofu and tasty gravy. Crispy pork ribs in red powder were not my favorite, a little chewy, and tough. Crispy seafood in Taro nest was good. The taro nest is mashed taro, deep fried in oil, good. Diet coke is available, and Thai ice coffee was also available. The restaurant was full for lunch on a weekday lunch. Ambiance lost to the noise. Service needs improvement. The wait person needs to be more attentive to refill water, get forks, clear dishes, and bring us our drinks, take check when we pay to leave. We cut them some slack as the restaurant was pretty full. We needed to wave down another wait person for each need. If the food was not tasty, I think we could eat else where. Overall, 3 stars out of 5.
Didn't know chicken satay was supposed to be this
Didn't know chicken satay was supposed to be this juicy!! Clean restaurant and restrooms.
Decent Malaysian food, but char kway teow and mee goreng
Decent Malaysian food, but char kway teow and mee goreng were more bland than expected. This storefront is difficult to find - we parked and walked around a bit to find the actual restaurant location. Parking is a challenge - expect to get your steps in! The roti canai was very good as was the dipping sauce. The papaya salad was tasty and fresh, and kids and adults alike enjoyed this meal. I will have to try other menu items in the future or increase spiciness level in the noodle dishes to see if that increases flavor content as well.
We ate here and they added tip without our authorization.
We gave cash tip to the waiter already but why would they charged us more than what we signed on the receipt? Very disappointing. Watch out people. I would not come back here, unfortunately
I hella forgot about this place.
My brother made reservations here for my mom's birthday dinner. Every dish we ordered was perfect and demolished. We started off with a soup that hit the spot. It was like an egg soup that filled all the holes in my soul. Next up was the roti with the curry dip- Deelish! Then the chicken wings- ummm YES PLEASE! Spicy and regular- we had both. We also had fried calamari, okra and beef. All so yummy! Each dish was enough for all of us and we didn't over-order! A definite win!
Came for lunch with 3 friends and will be back! Nice
Came for lunch with 3 friends and will be back! Nice ambiance, reasonable prices, great service, free parking and delicious food. We started with the light Roti canai with curry dip (a highlight is seeing the Roti canai made at a counter in the middle of the restaurant), followed by Monastery Buddhist mixed vegetables, Beef rendang, coconut rice, Hainanese chicken, Malaysian pork chops and a refreshing dessert of sweet mochi sticky rice with coconut milk, slices of mango and strawberry. The vast menu is mainly comprised of Malaysian, Thai and Singaporean dishes, but there are other Asian dishes too; eg, I spotted a Cantonese dish on the menu. Will be back to try other dishes!

Starting with 101 Roti Canai accompanied by a flavorful curry sauce. The deep fried fish with Thai sauce always hits the spot. Seafood noodles and pineapple fried rice are another great choice. The restaurant is bustling with activity! A busy restaurant often indicates that it's a popular spot, and it's heartwarming to know that both the food and ambiance are delightful. There is a parking garage that is free to park at. Afterwards, you can take a walk around the plaza to walk off the calories. This place always hits the spot.
A Taste of Southeast Asia at Banana Island! My experience
A Taste of Southeast Asia at Banana Island! My experience at Banana Island in Daly City left me with a mixed bag of impressions, but overall, it was a delightful dining adventure. Arriving on a bustling Saturday night around 6 pm, the restaurant was already half full, indicating its popularity among locals. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly staff, though their attentiveness waned as the evening progressed. However, their warmth and willingness to assist with menu recommendations compensated for any minor service lapses. The menu boasted a tantalizing array of Southeast Asian delights, and we wasted no time in placing our orders. The Roti, with its crispy exterior and soft, chewy interior, was a delightful starter that set the tone for the meal. The fried shrimp puff was a crunchy delight, bursting with flavorful shrimp filling. The main courses did not disappoint either. The Hainan chicken was tender and succulent, accompanied by fragrant rice and a zesty chili sauce. The Singaporean tofu offered a satisfying contrast, with its crispy exterior giving way to a silky tofu interior bathed in a savory sauce. The Singaporean noodles were a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, showcasing the chef's skill in balancing sweet, spicy, and savory elements. To round off our culinary journey, we indulged in the Nasi Lemak, a traditional Malaysian dish that was a symphony of coconut-infused rice, aromatic sambal, and an assortment of condiments. While the food was undeniably delicious and reasonably priced, the restaurant's ambiance could benefit from a bit more refinement to match the quality of the cuisine. Additionally, a tad more attentiveness from the staff would elevate the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Banana Island offers a tantalizing glimpse into the diverse flavors of Southeast Asia, with dishes that are sure to satisfy even the most discerning palates. With a few minor adjustments, it has the potential to become a standout culinary destination in Daly City.

Looove everything we ate! Fast and efficient service, lots of seating options. Overall great ambience esp for dinner!

Love love love their food! Sometimes service can be questionable when they are busy but the food flavor is awesome. Not to mention there is a parking garage right in front of it so that's never a worry.
Best food.
Excellent service. Clean ambience. Great place to go when want something tasty and a little different. Hidden away behind Home Depot
Good food and friendly staff.
. the price is reasonable. Location is in the back and the mall garage is next to it.. convenient.
I remember coming here often when I was much younger and
I remember coming here often when I was much younger and decided to give it a try. Of course, we got the roti canai and chicken skewers, two items that I definitely remembered were favorites. Other items were alright. Pretty big portions for decent prices. Roti canai - 4/5, paired with curry. Light and delicious, curry is super flavorful and is perfect with the roti. Chicken skewers - 4.5/5, six skewers paired with peanut dip. Each skewer has two or three big chunks of meat. Tender enough to bite into, but if you like to take the chicken chunks off the stick (like me), it can be a bit hard and you might fling it off the plate (lol). Volcano spareribs - 4.5/5, a big thing of spareribs coated in a sweet and sour sauce. Lots of meat! Although theres a puddle of sauce, the flavor isn't really overpowering and is just right. Beef rendang - 3.5/5, beef in rendang sauce. The beef is plentiful and tender. The flavor isn't that strong, but if you eat it the day after it tastes a lot better lol. The flavor is much stronger and comes with a bit of spice. Eggplant malaysian style - 3.5/5, I only had the eggplant and it was tender and juicy. My mom said it was lacking flavor and mixed more shrimp paste to the leftovers, which made it much tastier. Pad thai - 2.5/5, lacking in flavor and almost seems like it's missing something. Big plate tho.
Wanted to get a quick bite before a movie.
They have limited vegan options but they have some. All tofu dishes have egg in them. We ordered garlic eggplant Malaysian style that was very oily and ok in flavor. The mixed vegetables were delicious and cooked really well, crunchy. Service was very fast as we had only 30 min to eat. The place is spacious. CC accepted.
My last review.
We have been going to this restaurant for 20 years and today we made the decision to not patronize them anymore. We are a family of 7 plus typically a 12 of us at the table and spent 1000s of dollars there. The rudeness has been uncalled for by the hostess who had been there since we have been going there. Maybe it doesn't matter nowadays. We will be trying other places now. Too bad, my daughter wanted this restaurant for her birthday but we are done. Ipoh Garden Malaysian, here we come!
I've been here many times in person.
The ambiance is as expected for a typical Asian restaurant - loud and lively. The food is decent and reliable. I like their noodle dishes. You can't go wrong there. Parking is easy. The location is behind a parking lot.
Banana Island impresses right from the start, especially
Banana Island impresses right from the start, especially for first-timers like myself. The food here genuinely stands out, with the large roti and satay being particularly noteworthy for their amazing flavors. It's clear that everything on the menu is crafted with care and quality in mind. The ability to accommodate large parties is a significant plus. My experience with a group of 24 was seamless; we were comfortably seated at 3 large tables in the back, complete with a personal server dedicated to our group. This level of service and attention to detail in both the dining experience and the culinary offerings makes Banana Island a top-tier choice
How could you go wrong with the name like this.
Great vibes, fresh ingredients, and reasonable prices.
How Do Yo Get There?
This restaurant is poorly located. The view out front windows couldn't be worse....looking at a concrete parking lot. It is hidden in the West Lake shopping mall. Lots of seating with different sections. Good for large groups. Has bar and TVs. Large menu with lots of choices not found at other Asian restaurants. I had deep fried bacon wrapped shrimp balls. An interesting start. If fresher would be great. Also had a Malaysian noodle dish. The noodle seemed overcooked, or soggy.
Good food
We like their food. Roti, Malaysian pork chops, green beans, okra, chow fun and fried rice were all yummy. Restaurant atmosphere is decent, service was good and price is fair. There is a free parking garage right across. Only negative is the way inside to the restaurant is a small side road and pretty awful due to dumpsters on the street.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
