Zuma Boston Reviews from The Last Year
Top-Shelf Eating And Restaurant Atmosphere.
Zuma Boston is a Japanese restaurant bedded in the 2nd floor of the 4 C's Hotel. It features a unique private dining space with floor to ceiling glass windows: a classy environment. The restaurant is inspired by the izakaya style of Japanese dining in which dishes are brought to the table continuously through the meal. The menu is dynamite with items like Salmon & Tuna Tartare, stellar Tempura, Robata Skewers, Wagyu Beef Sushi and more. I dug into Miso Soup, Crisp Fried Calamari and Sake Marinated Chicken-wings...................a super delicious trio. Zuma is a top-shelf eating and restaurant atmosphere.
Best service and food was amazing.
We love the food and all the drinks we're great. Beautiful ambience and I would definitely go back again.
Best contemporary Japanese food in the Back Bay Area-- Zuma
Best contemporary Japanese food in the Back Bay Area-- Zuma offers an immensely enjoyable fine dining experience. Prepare to spend about 2-3 hours here for an incredible 4 course meal, worth 5 stars. For a fixed price you get unlimited appetizers, sushi (nigiri & maki), one entree per person, and one dessert platter for the table. Ambiance: We came for brunch on a Saturday and were seated right by the window on a very comfortable sofa seat. Service: the staff is incredibly kind! Shoutout to our server Claire, who wanted to give us the full experience for our first time, and went above and beyond in her insights and assistance. We originally ordered 3 appetizers, but she spoiled us and brought us one of each to try. Food (Appetizers, 1): The appetizer selection consisted of edamame, spicy fried chicken, vegetable tempura, breaded sweet potato, dressed corn, and sweet peppers with lime. My favorites were the spicy fried chicken which came with a chili sauce and a lemon slice (my favorite!) and the veggie tempura. The vegetables were lightly battered and fried which I enjoyed, and the chicken was cooked very well. Food (Sushi, 2): The sushi was extremely fresh and absolutely delicious. I'm not a huge fan of raw fish, but I was more than eager to try the offerings. There were 4 rolls to select from-- we ordered the spicy tuna, kappa (ginger-cucumber-avo) vegetarian, and salmon-avo roll. Absolutely incredible! The spicy tuna was my favorite-- super flavorful and I really enjoyed it as tempura. The kappa and salmon-avo were delicious as well. The rice on the sushi was of high quality, and stuck without being technical sticky rice. Food (Entree, 3): BEST PART. BEST STEAK EVER. WOW. My mom and I both opted for the 4oz spicy beef tenderloin and my mom's boyfriend got the salmon. The beef tenderloin came with red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, and a soy-chili sauce. Cooked medium well was the way to go. It was so juicy. Had we not had been so full from the other courses, I would have finished my mom's off as well. 20/10 rating in my book. My mom's boyfriend reported that his salmon was incredible, and the crust was fantastic. Food (Dessert, 4): We started off with complimentary shots-- we got the virgin berry shot and espresso martini shots, both very good! The berry one reminded me of a fancy strawberry popsicle. Then came the dessert platter, which was INSANE. It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sherbet, mixed fruits, a coconut-tapioca pudding, chef's daily pastry selection (chocolate chip cookies!), and mochi ice cream. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The sherbet was rich and tart, my favorite. The cookies were freshly baked and the mochi ice cream was so soft and creamy, definitely the best I've had. Overall, the dining experience at Zuma was absolutely incredible, and one we will never forget. Thank you, Zuma!
Great food and experience
Reservations were simple to make and they have a system to easily and properly confirm them. We showed up early and our table wasn't ready. So, we sat at the bar for one drink. No napkins with our drinks, something I have not seen before. Bartender was smartly dressed and low-cut top. We were nicely dressed, but most other people there were not (shorts, polos, street clothes). Our table was ready when our drinks were finished and it was clear we were not ordering another round. We were escorted to our tables, through the restaurant that was pretty full with other customers. The celling was quite high and the decor modern and happening. But it was quite loud with talk, and no music. More noise than is relaxing for a nice dinner. We ordered another set of drinks, bottled water, several appetizers, and main courses. The staff (not the waiter) messed up and poured tap water. Then I told her that we ordered bottled water, so she took the tap water away. Then the next girl came and started pouring tap water again with new glasses. Then the waitress came and apologized for the mix-up, but we stuck with tap water at that point. The drinks came with a large square of ice, that yields a far less watered-down experience. The Salmon/Tuna appetizer was served on a slab, on top of a whole bowl of ice. The salmon was a bit fishy, the tuna was better. Crackers were made in house. The Japanese peppers were delicious and enough of them to share. We ordered several different stakes, each pre-sliced up nicely, with amazing dipping sauce. All delicious and served to perfection. Deserts were a work of art, and lots of chocolate, caramel, ice cream, and more. Portions seemed small, but I got filled up by the end of the meal. No offer to cover our valet parking fee. Maybe I should have asked? It did not seem that many people used the valet because my car was left right in front of the hotel the entire time. Most people will absolutely love this restaurant and their experience. A few people may feel it is the best meal they ever had. And I sincerely doubt that anyone would not like it. Bring a date, celebrate an anniversary, a special birthday, or a big job promotion. You will not be disappointed.
Zuma is a great place to go for the ambiance and their food
Zuma is a great place to go for the ambiance and their food is solid. It's located in the Four Seasons, up the stairs. Make sure to make a reservation! Usually there's a bunch of tables available day of but I believe reservations are required anyways. Dress code is basically no activewear or sweats but whenever I have come here, seems that everyone just wears all black. They don't have the best sushi in the city but it's lovely for dinner with friends or birthday dinners. I do like their desserts. Service is always great and attentive. Parking can be found on the nearby streets such as Huntington Ave or can park in one of the garages.

Zuma Boston has became a favorite date spot for my boyfriend and I. We splurge on special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries so be prepared to spend at least $150+ (that includes drinks and tip). I'm not sure how quick you can get a table without a reservation, it's best to make one with how busy they get. Service is always great and I love the cozy, romantic vibe it has inside. Their bathroom and outside lobby make a great spot for mirror selfies and instagram pics. Food and drinks have consistently been excellent. I LOVE their uni (sea urchin). It's so creamy and fresh, you can tell they really use top quality. I've had bad uni before and it's not a pleasant taste.
Swanky Izakaya where the drink requires almost as much
Swanky Izakaya where the drink requires almost as much attention as the food. The Takahasi Cooler is a blueberry, blackberry, mint, lime and apple vodka concoction that I would highly recommend. Would also try the Yamatochi Cooler, a refreshing tequila, mint, ginger, lychee, elderflower and lime libation. The food is masterly crafted and presented, for which you will pay handsomely. The basic Omakase runs $138 and the premium is $168. Try Zuma's tempuras, either the rock shrimp with chili tofu (Ishi Ebi) or the softshell crab katsu with wasabi mayo and fennel salad. The Robata (grilled skewers, similar to Yakitori) is always yummy, and my personal favorites were the grilled scallops with pickled plum, shiso, and mentaiko butter. There's the signature black cod marinated in saikyo miso and wrapped in a hoba leaf, and a selection of 4 different Wagyu's. As for grilled seafood, I was pleased with the Alaskan king crab in a ponzu lime butter, although that alone will set you back $79. This is one of the few Japanese establishments where I would order some of the more exotic and mouthwatering cuts of sushi or sashimi. I would spring for the Chu Toro (medium fatty, my favorite) or the Oh Toro (very fatty) tuna, as well as the Uni, but only if the Uni is from Japan (do not waste your money on Uni from Maine), so be sure to ask ahead of time "where the Hni from?" Before ordering. The entire dinner will set you back a mini-King's ransom, so start saving now!

Zuma was an excellent dinner for me as a vegetarian- excellent service and plenty of vegetarian options Fried tofu - 5/5 Shishito peppers - 5/5 Veggie sushi - 5/5 Chocolate molten cake - 5/5
For 129 on sunday lunch, i do not recommend.
. so many other places serve much better quality sushi and sashmi at a fraction of the cost. You're paying just for the restaurant being at the four season... It's basically yamato quality with less options... save your money and avoid

Service was good, their reservations go by fast so you should reserve them in advance. The omakase had more flash than substance, you get a lot of food for the price though. I really enjoyed the nigiris, I would have ordered more à la carte! The steak was underseasoned but the sauce made up for it and the fish had great flavor. The sashimi was nothing to rave about. The flavor had so much potential but overall the food was mediocre. It's a cute and fancy place. 10/10 vibes.

Zuma Boston delivered an exceptional brunch experience that left an indelible mark on my taste buds. The highlight of the meal was the all-you-can-eat sushi and appetizers! The diverse selection ensured a culinary journey that satisfied every palate, from fresh sashimi to creatively crafted appetizers that showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality. My wife and I did the premium omakase this past weekend and it was an amazing experience. The decor is very nice and the restaurant feels intimate. The cocktails were awesome, thought slightly on the pricey side. The food was fantastic. Everything was delicious and artfully plated. Each course was amazing. My personal favorite was the scallops, but the steak was a close second. Our server, Stephanie, was great. She was attentive and informative and provided excellent drink pairing choices. I would love to have a server like Stephanie any time! We had a small snafu during dinner and Stephanie leapt into action and took care of us. She really took the dinner from a 10/10 to a 12/10!
We ordered multiple things from the menu.
Everything was good. Drinks were okay. Nice ambiance

We walked through a very spacious and beautifully designed space to take our seats. To whet our appetites, we ordered a Japanese Manhattan and Japanese old fashioned. The drinks were excellent. For our main course, we ordered the chirashi maki, sea bass sashimi. the rice hot pot and the black cod. The food was absolutely delicious. Nice experience to celebrate a special occasion.
We got the signature omakase and it hit the spot.
Skip your meals for the day because they bring you a TON of food. My favorites were the salmon tartare, the soft shell crab and the beef. MVP of the night was the black miso cod - it was oh so delicious!!! My least favorite dish was probably the scallops as they were a tad overcooked. For cocktails, I highly recommend the raspberry martini! And make sure you leave room for the chocolate lava cake dessert!
Outstanding Sushi and Asian Cuisine
Zuma Boston is kind of hidden away in the Four Seasons, but definitely worth a detour or special trip. It is actually very close to the Pru and Newbury Street area. Great place for a date night or celebration. The sushi is really top notch across the board. Other standouts are the black cod and truffle edamame. They also have a location in Las Vegas, which is likewise excellent.
Elegant space with wonderful wood panels.
Food is flashy and moderately tasty. Really a restaurant for Las Vegas. Very overpriced for the quality of the food. Wine list is limited.

This was one of our true first "night on the town"
This was one of our true first "night on the town" experience post COVID and it was amazing. COVID regulations: We had to book 2 weeks ahead for a party of 4 due to limited seating capacity. We arrived and were told that we had 90 minutes to dine. Tables were spaced apart and hand sanitizer was placed on every table. Overall, we felt it was both a safe and efficient dining experience. Ambience: The restaurant was spacious with huge windows and high ceilings. There was a sense of grandeur with their use of wood and the glass containers holding their wine glasses over the bar resembled a unique chandelier. The restaurant wasn't quiet but it also wasn't loud. Our group could easily communicate. Again, we went during COVID and although they were fully booked, it probably wasn't their max dining capacity. Food/ drink: A few of the cocktails were pretty creative and tasted great. We also got a bottle of sake with the expert recommendation of our waiter. Since it was our first time there, we opted for the omakase dinner and we weren't disappointed. I've had a few omakase dinners in which there's a personal relationship built with the chef as you watch them prepare each dish and piece in front of you with care. Although this portion of the experience was missing, the food was one of the best I've ever had. I could imagine the care of the chefs who made our dishes. The fish was fresh, the food was perfectly paired, and the food was perfectly balanced. Overall: The experience was fantastic. Our waiter was attentive without being overly annoying. He was there when we looked up and checked in enough times between plates. He was also knowledgeable as we asked questions and recommendations. Thank you Zuma for giving us a fun and safe experience to start off our eventual return to normalcy.
Superb service, inventive flavors, fun atmosphere
My husband and I dined at Zuma with our grown kids a few weeks ago. The servers were kind, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was imaginative and delicious. The ambiance so lively and fun. We highly recommend Zuma for your next evening out!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
