I recently visited the restaurant next to the hotel I stayed - Park Hyatt Vienna and regret to say my experience was far from satisfactory. The main issue was the waiter's behavior. Instead of being welcoming, he was dismissive and at times outright rude when we asked questions about the menu. This set a negative tone for the entire evening. I wanted to share this feedback directly, as respectful service is the foundation of any good dining experience. I sincerely hope this matter is addressed. This is the 3rd restaurant I visit today in vienna and everywhere else the service was just fine, not sure whats going on with this place ????
Great Food, Slow Service
We were a group of 4 at Bel Etage, a truly beautiful restaurant. All of our dishes were excellent, but we had to wait one hour to place our food order! The restaurant was extremely crowded and there was a group that arrived just after we did, yet received their main course (Wiener Schnitzel) while we were still waiting to order!

"Zum Schwarzen Kameel" (the black camel) was initially opened in 1618 as a spice shop. Then it became a coffee shop, and now it also has a restaurant. I was here for dinner, and I had "Wiener Schnitzel vom Milchkalb mit Erdäpfel-Vogerlsalat" (Veal schnitzel Viennese style with potato and watercress salad). Food was excellent, and so was service. Prices were high, but food was worth them! After dinner, I took the occasion to buy some of the "Delikatessen" they sell here.
Stale and cold
There seems to be more hype than actual good service. The food seemed to have been microwaved. It was served late. The cakes were stale, and felt more than a day old! The coffee was cold, as if it was made and then left to be forgotten. For the price and the hype not worth it
We were handed menus, then sat for 20 minutes.

This spot came highly recommended by a local, and we spotted a Michelin Bib Gourmand sign in the back window--pretty impressive! My partner and I visited this morning, and it delivered. The ambiance is classy, like a refined café, nestled in a busy, upscale part of town with a sophisticated buzz. We had two courses, each item in order of preference: Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese on Bread - Silky salmon, creamy spread, and a standout start. Egg with Mayo on Bread - Simple yet tasty, with a nice richness. Shrimp Open-Faced Sandwich - Fresh and good, though the bread stole some of the show. (Note: The bread is softer and white-floured, more refined than Buffet Trzesniewski's.) Austrian Boiled Beef Tafelspitz - Excellent with horseradish, a hearty highlight. Vegetarian Pasta - Great texture, though the name escapes me--still enjoyable. Overall, it's a solid pick with a polished vibe and great flavors. Worth a stop if you're in the area! I (person of color) went with my friend (white) for breakfast, about 45 minutes after opening. As with any European restaurant that offers outdoor seating, we asked if we could sit anywhere, in which we were told yes. After sitting, we waited for about 8 minutes and were not provided menus. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived, since it was so early. There were about 3 other tables already there. My friend got up to grab a menu. We noticed that people who arrived after us were seated and provided menus. About a minute after grabbing the menu, the waiter came by to ask her if we needed a second menu. When we were ready to order, I waived at the guy who was standing next to our table and can see us clearly, and we were ignored. Again, other tables who had arrived after us were seated, provided menus, and had their orders taken. We left after 15 minutes of waiting. After reading other 1 and 2 star reviews, there are other people with similar experiences. Notice that the restaurant is not disagreeing with any of the reviews. Typically, restaurants can comment on reviews, apologizing and saying that they will utilize the feedback for future improvement. There is not one comment from the restaurant for this purpose. If this does not persuade you to not eat here, then consider that the prices might be very expensive for a basket of bread. There are other places in the area, Cafe Mozart, Segafredo, etc, with significantly better prices and just as delicious (not that we would know what the food here tastes like as we were never served). If you are still reading and thinking this is about money, we walked in with Louis Vuitton bags after making a purchase. This store is located next to several luxury and designer stores, with in a maximum of a 2 minute walk. So clearly this has nothing to do with the appearance of customers who may or may not have money. There might be another particular word to describe the wait staff, but that is not appropriate to be used in a review forum. I suggest eating literally anywhere else, as this seems to be the only restaurant in the heart of Vienna, surrounded by a significant amount of tourism, that offered terrible service.

We came here for dinner after work and got seated inside since it was freezing outside. The waiters were friendly, but a bit slow. 2/5 Schnitzel - very bland. It needed some sauce and maybe the potato salad was supposed to be the sauce but it needed a mayo or tartar sauce or something. Was a little disappointing 4/5 Desserts - loved the many options of desserts in the glass, there's both sweet and savory desserts. I suppose this is normal of Viennese/austrian food to taste this way. Not a huge fan.

Outstanding service (Shout out to Richie!) We sat on the heated patio on a very rainy day, but the heaters kept it comfortable and there were lap blankets, too. I popped into the inside bakery for some small sandwiches and desserts selection and had them add it to my order by giving our servers's name. We had coffees, also. This was one of the highlights of our visit, honestly and loved it for ambiance and high-quality of their treats. The cheese sandwich with salt-topped bun was the best bite we had in 10 days all over Germany and Austria. The dessert (chocolate with raspberries) was outstanding, especially with my cappuccino. Also: it's cigar-friendly! My husband appreciated that, even though he didn't have a cigar. Good to know for future reference. Also want to add: we don't know it was an awesome place to visit for the history of it. We only researched after we were home and even more grateful to have popped in for a little visit on our trip.

Visited for lunch, and although the food was nothing special, it was good and the service outstanding (as opposed to what I was expecting from some of the reviews. Got a table fast, and my waiter was prompt and friendly. Had the beef consommé soup and ham with horseradish and bread. The soup was just average but the ham was really good. Nice place with beautiful outdoor seating. I would do it again.

Lots of trendy folks at this eatery across the street from Prada and Rimowa. I've had better schnitzels in the past but this one was nice in that it was less greasy. No Preiselbeeren with this schnitzel but maybe that's how they do it? The waitstaff were attentive unlike the other reviews. Make sure to check out the sandwich display near the front. If you like to be seen and be seen in Wien I think this is the place to be. For authentic Austrian fare you can also go to other places in the Inner Stadt.
Mediocre
Food was mediocre. We had the goulash and the schnitzel - no flavor at all and very basic. The wedge potatoes were frozen and probably the schnitzel as well. Too bad for the location.

The food was mediocre and the morning after I had dinner at this place I had some of the worst food poisoning I ever had. I had a huge problem understanding my server because of how loud it was in the restaurant. It also took ages for me to receive my check.
I would never recommend this place ever.
The food was terrible and it was obvious that the restaurant gives no care for allergies. We specifically ordered an item on the menu that had no nuts but when the plate arrived to our table it was covered with pesto. Because of this my son had my husband's goulash. It turns out the day after my son comes down with terrible food poisoning. This was detrimental to our trip to Vienna. My son continued to have these issues three days after he had eaten the goulash. Almost forgot to mention how the service was terrible. At the end of our meal we waited for the server to come back to our table for the check. We ended up waiting for longer than 20 minutes for one of the servers to notice that we were finished. We asked him kindly if we could get the check and he gave us confirmation that he was. We waited 5 more minutes for one of the servers to bring us our check but none seem to have realized that we had not received our check. Another waiter then approached our table and we asked him for the check. This did not end up with us receiving the check. It took the staff 10 more minutes for us to finally receive our check. After signing the check we realized that our server incorrectly calculated the amount of gratuity we were supposed to pay. Be safe and stay away from this place.
Quality! whether you order olives tapas style or Wiener Schnitzel
One of the oldest restaurants in Vienna, located near the Schottentor on Ring, walking distance to many hotels. Went there with different sets of friends. A reservation is recommended and easly arranged online, especially for a holiday weekend. Tables arranged so you don't overhear other conversations. Attentive service, very friendly and ooen to replacement orders. But to the food: all fresh, local, tasty, honoring their great tradition. They import their own wines, quite a selection. But, of course, also other wines and champagnes. Unfortunately, our companions were on a no-sugar regimen, so I only walked by the dessert presentation which looked fab. But they sell their own chocolate truffles, so you can take home memories graced by the black camel. One hump and double EE!

My Austrian friends warned me about the grumpy waiter syndrome in Vienna and this guy won the prize. So unnecessarily unpleasant. I had a nice light breakfast too bad for the attitude. It's a beautiful place. Was lively at night when I walked by.

Pretty aggressive and unfriendly personal staff!. The man waiter was almost throwing our dishes on us and he was tripping over my sister’s chair all the time without even say sorry! (and there was enough space!!!)
nice place to have a lunch if it is not overcrowded
We toured the area and took a dive in. it was quite crowded, but still we found a table for 2. If you intend to relax and have a meal it's definitely worth while. No hassle and no one pushing you around. Some are for coffee and some for a meal. We had beef soup and a veal dish, which were up to our expectation taking into account the full house. To some it might come somewhat expensive but this in the center of the city, so it would not be appropriate to judge the place by that. All in all we were satisfied with the menu, We would recommend anyone strolling around to enjoy this restaurant.

A memorable Christmas Eve lunch
We were downtown Vienna on Christmas Eve at noon and the entire area was buzzing and packed with locals and tourists alike. Christmas Eve 2022 fell on a Saturday which compounded the throngs of people flooding the promenade. Everyone was celebrating the last few hours before everything shuts down for Christmas Eve (which typically is 4 PM at the latest). We wove our way through the celebratory crowd on the street and eventually made our way into this bustling restaurant, Even though it was overflowing with patrons, they somehow found us a table for two that allowed us a great view of all the activity in the restaurant and on the street The service we experienced, was absolutely outstanding! Our waiter was extremely attentive, even though this restaurant was packed to the hilt. The food was excellent as were the drinks. The vibe and the busyness added to the Christmas atmosphere, it was electrifying and enjoyable to be a part of. We enjoyed watching all the activity while feeling thankful that we could experience a Christmas Eve lunch, Vienna style. What a wonderful experience and memory it was!

Centrally located, this coffee/light fare / bar has all the attributes of a restaurant while preserving the charm of a viennese caffee. The waiters are courteous and prompt, the little outdoor tables are covered with white napkins.It was cold but there are warmers everywhere on the wall .The white wine was excellent and the simple soups of the day well made: We had the a beef bouillon with a dollop of semolina and pumpkin soup.Both were good.The little sandwiches of freshly sliced ham on the bone were good as well.This small but delightful lunch did not break the bank either.I will come back for sure !
