This place the location isn't the best but this place is a must try! The food the drinks were amazing. All the drinks are yummy and the server will help you out with drink recommendations if you don't know which one you want. The food amazing. The guacamole and chips were yummy and fresh. The vegan enchiladas were so impressive! They had Bronzino that night and if they have it get it. It is so juicy and buttery! I'm going back again for sure

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yxta Cocina Mexicana and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. My party and I ordered a few different items and everything was outstanding. To start, we tried the guacamole, choriqueso, and habanero salsa. The guacamole was perfectly creamy and flavorful, and the salsa had a nice kick to it without being too overwhelming. The choriqueso was a standout for me - it was a delicious blend of melted cheese and chorizo, and the tortilla chips that came with it were the perfect vehicle for dipping. For our main course, we ordered the Yxta Tablita, which came with a variety of meats and toppings, including grilled steak, chicken, chorizo, cactus, and onions. The meats were all cooked to perfection and had great flavor, and the accompanying sides (rice, beans, fresh corn and flour tortillas, and guacamole) were all top-notch as well. Finally, we wrapped up the meal with the tres leches cake, which was the perfect sweet and creamy ending to a fantastic meal.Overall, I would highly recommend Yxta Cocina Mexicana to anyone looking for great Mexican food in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Amazing great tasting food! The guacamole was absolutely delicious and so tasty. The service was good, and waiters were friendly and helpful. The ambiance was perfect and music was great. I would definitely go back. It's a vibe, gives me Tulum, Mexico vibes. Tacos de papas 10/10 (chef's kiss). Camarones al ajillo plate was also a 10/10 (chef's kiss). First time there and everything was great! Made a reservation, me and my friend got there at the perfect time 7:30 wasn't crowded but wasn't super empty. The drinks were also very good! My friend tried the mezcalindo and I tried the special cocktail for the day which was a piรฑa,celery cocktail and it was so yummy! I couldn't even taste the celery.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, drinks and service.
Try the capirotada and the torta Al pastor and ceviche
Be the first to ReplyFood was pretty good and waitress was really nice.
But they charge valet even though I parked my car and the lot was empty half empty? Also we brought a cake and they charge $2 per person for that LMAO? They seem to really wanna penny pinch every situation and it ruined the entire experience - not even the charge but it's unnecessary and uncomfortable convo. Topping it all off the valet guy disturbed our table shortly after cutting the cake to ask for the $7 valet charge because he had to leave? Honestly the situation was just sad and embarrassing enough to ruin the experience. 2 stars for fumbling client satisfaction over a few dollars
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service and food! Best Flan ever.
We had the carnitas, pastor and asada tacos!

Yum Yum. My favorite thing to order their is the Carnitas and guacamole.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place! The food (and dessert) is sooo good.
The service is great and price is normal: Main dishes are around $20+ and drinks $15-17. The reason why I gave 4 stars is because of the parking situation. You have to pay $7 valet parking + tip so they park your car in front of the restaurant, there's no street parking because the restaurant is located in a corner of 2 major streets in DTLA. So technically, you have no option but to pay for valet parking. I don't like random people driving my car so valet parking bothers me But the restaurant is very good and I definitely recommend it!
Be the first to ReplyNice service and ambiance.
Same menu as Mercado, which is good. But heads up if you're looking for something new
Be the first to ReplyMy friend had made reservations for 8pm on Friday night.
..which we definitely did not need. When we got there, I expected a busy restaurant, but it was pretty empty, save for a few tables around us.We saw a few items that intrigued us...the guacamole, Chile Relleno, and the enchiladas de mole. I asked our waiter which one was more popular, the ceviche or the tinga...and he said...and I quote, "The ceviche is popular because it's prettier for the gram." OH HAIL NO...at that moment I knew...we effed up in coming here. I told him, "Well we don't care how it looks as long as it's good, so..." and he reinforced himself by saying that theirs was pretty good. It was decent at best. The guacamole was good...the mole sauce was ALMOST there...but pretty bland. The chile relleno was ok...not enough cheese for my taste and my Mexican friend agreed. The rice was pretty damn good though. As was the zucchini that they served with it. Great texture - not mushy. The drinks we got were non-alcoholic...or at least they tasted that way, but the water was good. Overall a very gentrified "Mexican" food experience. I will definitely not be coming back.

Let me tell you first the good: FOOD, service and vibe were great. The BAD things: definitely the expensive prices and on top of that YOU HAVE TO PAY PARKING. Even tho I'd come back

It seems that ever since Covid hit, the standard of everything has just gone to down the toilet. This place is yet another example of the large turd circling the toilet bowl before going down the tubes. I had heard so many great things about this place how amazing the food was here & after reading posted reviews I was convinced. Maybe because I had high expectations going into it, that I was so sorely disappointed. Looking back at it I guess we should of saw the 1st red flag: the very young girl answering the phone. She knew absolutely nothing about the menu or how anything was prepared or what items were included in any dish. Or even know the drink menu. She kept putting us on hold to "ask her manager". ย their signature margarita says it's enough for 2-3 drinks but in reality it was only 1drink. Which we attempted to confirm how that was normally served in order to determine how many drinks could be made from a serving. Which the girl indicated it was served in a pitcher. Turns out it was not anything resembling 2-3drinks but rather 1.But even my friend, who had vouched for this place haven eaten there "pre-Covid" apologized for suggesting the place & said the cilantro rice was like eating "day old rice". It was so hard (& not from being undercooked but from being OVER cooked) & just stuck to your teeth.
Be the first to ReplyYxta is one of my favorite places to have a margarita.
The Yxta margarita is delicious it's fresh & light. I tried the spicy strawberry guava margarita and it was delicious it was the right combination of guava and strawberry I was worried the guava would be over powering but it was not and the jalapeรฑo added a spicy touch, definitely adding to my list of favorites. I had the Pollo en Cuatro Chiles creamy, tender, the chipotle sauce smoky, mashed potatoes were a nice compliment and the roasted corn added crunch. Tacos de papa are always a hit, cabbage, queso fresco add some of the red salsa and it's hard to eat only two. My husband has said that their chips and salsa are THE BEST he even brought the left over chips home (face palm) :) Nayeli our server was attentive and sweet. Francesa was friendly and even gave us extra chips to take home. Love the food & service. Valet went up from $3 to $5 still a great deal for DTLA.

Had a show downtown at exchange and wanted to grab some Mexican beforehand. If you're looking for a nice sit down spot with great drinks and good food, I highly suggest. The guac is fantastic as is the Queso fundido as shareable apps. Good for small or large groups, they easily accommodated our party of 12 on a Friday night when I made the reservation only 24 hours prior.

Be the first to ReplySo here we go.
Another restraunt trying to Dr-fraud its customers. Come on guys! We haven't been here for a couple of years, but we went last Saturday (1/29/2022). We arrive in the parking lot and see a Valet Service sign. Now a bit of context, this is a small strip mall with about 3 or 4 tots tenants, one of which is Yxta. The valet service has a two signs indicating and indirectly pointing to a location to the right where it can easily be assumed you would go IF you would like to utilize their valet service. We saw another spot away from the valet service sign which was open. We parked there. As we are walking into the restraunt the attendant from the valet walks over and says that we must pay $7 if we park anywhere in the plaza. I ask why I need to pay when I'm not using the valet service. He says it is the restraunt policy. First of all, don't advertise yourself as a valet when you are really charging people for parking.I go in the restraunt and eat with the family. Upon paying I call the manager and ask him why they are asking customers who do not use the valet to pay and park anywhere in the plaza to pay. He essentially said that they can because they are a private lot. Hmm... maybe some lawyers can help me here but aren't they obligated by LA City code to have a certain number of parking spots. In fact each tenant is required. So after a lengthy discussion with the manager we leave and I walk over to the restraunt @Sampa next door and have a chat with the owner. He says they do not charge for parking at all and they have nothing to do with the valet guys. I explain how Yxta is charging for me parking in front of his restraunt and the owner is surprised. So it looks like Yxta has found another source of income by basically hijacking the whole parking lot for a valet service which is really a parking fee and unbeknownst to the other tenants they are taking in an extra $7 (at least from me that was how much it was). Know that when you eat here. They know they can take advantage of you as there is really not a whole lot of other parking available around the restraunt given the area it is located in.Really put a bad flavor in the mouth. As for what we orders: salmon (was slightly over cooked), half- chicken (was decent and cooked well). The salsa has changed to be more on the Chile de Arbol side.

They do say you get what you pay for! Although prices ย were a bit on the pricy side, I do say that every dollar spent here was worth it. From the moment we were greeted to the moment we were served, everything was great. We had a server by the name of Christopher. He provided excellent service and every time he suggested a dish or a drink, I was sold on the suggestion and was not disappointed. I am not an avocado fan, but my party ordered their guacamole and it was DELICIOUS! We had the Yxta Tablita with shrimp and it was good--not a frijoles negros fan though. Camarones al ajillo were also ordered and they were also very tasty. Had a Jamaica margarita, pineapple jalapeรฑo margarita and cucumber margarita and they were also delicious! I was in a hurry to get to an event and didn't have the time to fully enjoy everything this restaurant had to offer, but I am definitely going back when I am not worried about time to fully enjoy this restaurant all around.
Be the first to ReplyLow Key spot.
Nice ambiance and great service. Watermelon and strawberry margarita was good, slightly bland like a watermelon and strawberry flavored water, but made with real ingredients and not syrup. Definitely upgrade to top shelf tequila for $1 more, definitely worth the buck. All the flavors were were spot on, but the skin on the fish was slimy instead of charred to perfection; hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. I you can't cook the main protein correctly, it can ruin the whole dish. Blue corn tortilla was the star of the dish. I could really taste the hand pressed vs manufactured taste. It was divine. They serve chips, homemade, and salsa when you sit. Overall good visit. You must valet though.

The first time my boyfriend and I came here, it was because we couldn't get in to Cha Cha Cha.We finally got into Cha Cha Cha. Let's just say we won't be going back. Yxta is far superior, more affordable, and more chill, with architecture that I think is less topical and Instagram-centric than Cha Cha Cha. The food, service, and atmosphere at Yxta are all excellent. I had the jidori chicken and it was crisp and moist. The chips and salsa were nicely done as well. Our friends had the sampler and I enjoyed picking at whatever they didn't finish.I highly recommend it!

I noticed this restaurant on the ordering app Caviar, also known as DoorDash last week and I've always been curious about it and so glad to finally order! I'm actually writing this much deserved review after ordering twice. This is elevated but not "fusion". I'd say refined but still traditional. Delicious no matter what the label! You can tell they use high quality fresh ingredients. My chicken was so tender and flavorful that I bragged about it all day. Today I ordered the Chile Relleno and it was just as terrific. Also I want to point out the sides that are included are excellent. Keep up the great work! I plan on trying the whole menu! No pics sadly because I always dig in quickly!! I was worried it wouldn't travel well but both entrees came in perfect order. Packaged nicely. Hoping the world opens back up a little safer so I can dine in house. The neighborhood is definitely bad but I will risk it all to enjoy a great meal!!
