While the food was undeniably tasty, I left feeling a bit
While the food was undeniably tasty, I left feeling a bit unsatisfied due to the small size of the skewers and their relatively high price point, ranging from $6-10 per skewer. Despite this, the selection of skewers was impressive and the quality of the ingredients was evident.Of the skewers I tried, my favorite was the unagi yakitori, which had a nice char and was perfectly seasoned. The chicken skewers were also good, but not as standout as the unagi. The short rib was another highlight, though the portion size was quite small for the price. While I enjoyed the food, I found myself needing to order a lot of skewers to feel full, which added up quickly in terms of cost. The service was friendly and attentive, and I appreciated the staff's recommendations on which skewers to try.Overall, while Yakitori Totto is a bit on the pricey side, it's worth a visit for its high-quality skewers and impressive selection. Just be prepared to order a few more skewers than you might expect to leave feeling full.

Yakitori Toto is always my number one choice restaurant whenever I visit the city. Service is alway exceptional!
Be the first to ReplyThe food is incredible.
Great variety of Yakitori as well as other wonderful Japanese specialties. Feels like you are in Tokyo. Service always prompt and professional. I live locally and eat here once a week.
Be the first to ReplyAs always great food and service.
Every time I'm in NYC I need to stop by this place. Can't wait to go back. The reservation system on the website is a great feature. We had a party of seven and had no problem getting a table.
Be the first to ReplyIt's really good tori.
And the waitress is so friendly and efficient. I remember she have worked here at least 7 years.
Be the first to ReplyGood place to stop by for some food and drinks.
Most of the meat was cooked well, but could use more seasoning. The chicken skin for example was a bit bland, but the lamb chop, chicken wings, and pork were all delicious. For dessert, we also got the green tea affogato which was smooth and creamy. We definitely recommend that after you finish your yakitori.

Generally the food was pretty good, with some dishes standing out in terms of seasoning and preparation. But given the price point, I felt like I should be expecting more. Also, the overall experience was a bit underwhelming. For starters: my friends and I arrived right on time for our reservation, but we still had to wait an extra 5 or so minutes to get seated. We even saw a couple who arrived later get seated before us, which was odd. Additionally the service felt very rushed, although that might just be driven by how busy the place was. And the restaurant space was small, leaving very little space for folks to move about.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but, this place creates a wonderful, intimate vibe. The steak skewers are to die for!!! Great place for a date or to meet up with friends. I'd recommend securing a reservation.
Be the first to ReplyGot a variety of skewers and sat at the bar.
Each skewer was generous and I have to say don't skip on the wagyu. It was the highlight of the meal! I also enjoyed the cucumber as a palette refresher and the crispy rice with salmon was amazing. Usually other places only offer crispy rice spicy tuna so this was a refreshing change!Service was friendly and it was fun getting to watch the skewers grilled from the bar. Definitely recommend making a trip in if you like izakayas!

Solid spot with table and counter seating for your yakitori fix. Skewers: the highlights were definitely unagi and chicken. Wagyu was disappointingly tough! Quick service but make sure to make a reservation prior as this spot seemed quite busy and full for dinners!

A small place that fills up pretty quick even on a weekday (for lunch). Looks like they have a lunch set menu but we opted for the regular menu to try out their yakitori. Favorites were: pork neck, agedashi tofu, chicken skin, wagyu, and enoki wrapped bacon. Staff was kind, checked up on us several times, service was not too slow but not quick either, and the food was delicious! A casual spot to grab some skewers and sake/beer.
Be the first to ReplyWas going to give this place 4 stars until I got dessert.
The place was tiny but we got a good seat near the window (party of 3 people). Only 2 people working but they both were attentive. Food tasted amazing, but the portions were small and kind of expensive. Sadly they were out of the pork belly appetizer which I really wanted to try. Anyways, the green tea mochi ice cream dessert was out of this world! It tasted homemade; I never had anything that great. Soft, chewy and fresh. Amazing!
Be the first to ReplyA little pricy, and it's surprisingly dirty.
ย Just nasty AF.... but it's delicious and they've got great service.โ
Be the first to ReplyOrdered yakirori scallion rice bowl for $16.
Pros: - Moderate price. - Great Protein (chicken) with good flavor. (Authentic Japanese YakiTori) - Scallion Shoyu rice tastes good with egg and yakitori. Very good combination. Cons:- No Veggie except for scallion. No soup. But it's okay for the price of the rice bowl.

Hidden gem in Hell's Kitchen! Small yakitori bar on second floor was packed on Monday night. Great cuts and quality of yakitori with good local vibe. Definitely coming back!

This place is absolutely amazing! We watched the little clip of this place (available on their website) of Anthony Bourdain eating here, and were further motivated to get out here after reading all the great reviews by other fellow Yelpers. It definitely did NOT disappoint! We made a reservation a week or so in advance. Headed in for a dinner and got ordering right away. Things then started flying out of the kitchen in quick order.I know a lot of people have been raving about the skin, but to me, that was far from the highlight of the night. What REALLY stuck out to me was the heart - and the piece that comes right after it in the menu (that is escaping me right now) which is the part adjacent to it. I'd never tried it before and I fell absolutely in love with it! It could be a pretty strong flavor if you aren't too comfortable with the other inner parts of the chicken (it actually felt a lot like liver to me) but if that's something you like, then this is definitely down your alley!Ambience-wise - the place was a bit on the small side, and pretty packed (as one would expect). But it was all very comfortable and we got a great seat at the bar so we could also see the chefs at work. The wait staff were also very efficient and attentive throughout our meal.Although it was a little pricey - with all said and done, I'll definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyCame with a group of 5 friends for dinner.
Left feeling underwhelmed and hungry Food: I typically don't add salt to my food, but many of the dishes were distinctly underseasoned. Just a pinch of salt would probably have elevated all of the skewers to another level - Gyoza: standard pork dumplings- Karage: standard fried chicken- Dashi Maki Tamago (Japanese rolled omelette): sweeter and lighter compared to the American version - Agedashi Tofu: Only comes with two pieces, but if you're a fan of tofu, then this is a nice light appetizer- Roast Beef Don: not bad! Sliced beef with sweet and salty sauce over a bed of white rice. Would recommend ordering at least one don as you might not be full with the skewers aloneSkewers: - Wagyu: delicious highly recommend - Pork neck (Ton Toro): tasty! We got a second order of this one since we were still hungry ย - Chicken Thighs (Momo): pretty tasty - Chicken breast (Negima): I prefer the chicken thighs as the dark meat typically has more flavor than the breast - Chicken Skin: wish this was crispier. Wouldn't order this one again - Okra: covered in bonito flakes, so you can see them "moving." Not my favorite preparation of okra though - Shiitake mushroom: needed more grilled flavor and SALT Service/Ambiance: Service was almost too attentive in the beginning as the waitress came by 4 times in the first 10 minutes to see if we were ready to order even though we were still perusing the menu. There were multiple fruit flies at our table, which was super annoying because they kept trying to land on the food. Since we came as a bigger group with a reservation, we are able to have one of the tables that was set apart from the regular areaOverall: Never feel full from eating skewers, so this place may not be for me!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was fairly decent but I would caution against
The food was fairly decent but I would caution against large parties. I called about two weeks in advance to reserve for around 15 people and was told that we'd need to spend a $50 minimum. I interpreted this as the whole party needing to spend at least $50 total and even asked "For everyone, right?" and I was told yes. There was some miscommunication there and I definitely should've been clearer with my question, as it was only after we had sat down that we were told that it was per person. I did feel absolutely awful that everyone then had to spend more than they were already planning, but luckily everyone was very understanding. I do understand that I was rather daft to think she was talking about everyone in total instead of per person but I do wish we could've gotten that clarification over the phone instead of after we had already sat down and ordered. What was especially odd was that I had a friend that heard that this place was great for large parties -- they had come with parties of 10+ before and never had had this issue. 5 people is a bit different but I'm just not sure what the cutoff policy is for this $50 charge issue to come into play. Other than that, there weren't any other issues with the restaurant. We still had a good time and the staff were pretty nice and understanding.
