Impossible to find a better okonomiyaki restaurant than this place! Kimchi horumon goes well with beers and we ordered twice lol Foods come out quickly and I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. We will come back again soon
Be the first to ReplyWe recently had the pleasure of dining at Yaki Yaki Miwa.
Tucked away on South King Street next to Sasabune, this cozy teppanyaki specialty restaurant offers an array of delicious okonomiyaki, negiyaki, and modan-yaki dishes, along with steak, seafood, and yakisoba. We started with the sweet onion salad, topped with dried bonito flakes. This appetizer provided a refreshing and crunchy contrast to the savory dishes to come. We also indulged in the super pork tama okonomiyaki, a fusion of flavors and textures. The combination of cabbage, flour, eggs, and grated mountain yam created a light and fluffy pancake-like base, while the tender slices of pork added a rich and savory depth. Accompanying the okonomiyaki was the garlic fried rice, a satisfying dish that perfectly complemented the bold flavors of the meal. We also tried the korokoro steak, cooked to perfection on the teppanyaki grill and served piping hot at our table, and the steamed clams infused with white wine and garlic. The plump and tender clams had a burst of briny sweetness, followed by the subtle tang from the white wine and warmth from the garlic. Paid parking is available in the lot behind the restaurant by scanning a QR code. This made it easy to quickly pay for our parking online, with the fee being a reasonable $1.50 per hour. There is also free street parking on South King Street right in front of the restaurant. However, it's worth noting that street parking wasn't available until after 6:30 p.m., so if you have an early reservation like we did, opting for the lot might be the way to go. Despite the restaurant's small size and bustling atmosphere, the service remains efficient, with dishes delivered in a timely manner. However, during peak hours, there may be slight delays in service as the staff strives to accommodate the influx of diners. Whether you're a fan of teppanyaki or simply looking to try something new, this place is definitely worth a visit. Just be sure to make a reservation ahead of time, as seating is limited and in high demand!

Reservations are a must, as this place is popoular with very limited seating. First of all, there is parking in the back (entrance is on S. King Street right after the restaurant (look for a very narrow driveway which is one-way going in). Parking is NOT FREE. Scan the QR code on one of the red signs and pay by the hour (we paid $3 for 2 hours). Once you're seated, you'll need to scan the QR code on the wall to access the menu. The three of us ordered a bunch of dishes to share - all were amazing: - sweet onion salad (onion and dried bonito) appetizer - regular Sobameshi (noodles and rice stir fried with cabbage, shank meat) - seafood modan-yaki (okonomiyaki with noodles folded into the batter) - grilled mixed vegetables - cheese tama okonomiyaki (no noodles) - pork negiyaki (my fave!) All of our dishes were prepared on the L-shaped teppanyaki grill, then delivered to our table on the warmer located in the middle of our table. The warmer did its job of keeping the food hot as we enjoyed our food. There is a time limit (which we were unaware of ) - I believe it's 2 hours. Our server gave us a "last call", so we ordered the Miwa's Toast with Ice cream (we asked for one scoop of vanilla, one scoop of green tea). It's very simlar to the honey toast from Shokudo - just not as big, but just as good - the bread is from Epi Bakery and is sooo soft! I highly recommend this dessert!

I was craving okonomiyaki and stumbled across this place on yelp and decided to try it out. We got sat at the counter where we were able to watch the chefs prepare everyone's meals! This place seems like a very authentic Japanese restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! I especially fell in love with the sweet potato dessert with matcha ice cream and would come back for that alone! The costs can add up quickly but Id recommend this place and look forward to coming back for the okonomiyaki!

If you're looking to be transported back to a little hole in the wall in Japan, this is the place. We ate around the menu and nothing was disappointing. Great for a group of friends and kids. Don't tell anyone about it. Small with few tables, let's keep it a secret.
Be the first to ReplyOkonomiyaki is something a little harder to find in Hawaii.
Yaki Yaki Miwa is a great place if you're in search of a good okonomiyaki. On top of that, I highly recommend the sobameshi, scallops with ong choy, garlic clams and yakisoba. Although a little warm, I enjoyed sitting in front of the main teppanyaki area so we could watch the chefs prepare the food. If you're not at this area, each table has a small teppanyaki griddle but this is to keep your food warm, not for cooking on. The inside of the restaurant is pretty small so you'll want to make reservations. There is limited street parking (metered) and parking in the back also. Service is good, food is good, you can't go wrong here.

best okonomiyaki on the island!! their other menu items are incredible too! the service is really good as well.

I usually forget to update my reviews, but I've only been to this spot twice and both times were absolutely great! I knew it was worth an update because even though my visits were years apart, I was impressed both times. Yaki Yaki Miwa is theeee spot to get okonomiyaki. Other items on the menu look delish as well (regretting not getting the fried rice), but you're definitely coming for okonomiyaki of some kind. If you're comfortable, sit at the bar(?) area to really watch the action. They make it, and most other menu items to order, right in front of you! So fun. It's like a show. It's pretty simple in that way, but I like to see everything come together. It's also a small space, so even if it's crowded, it's still comfortable and full of action. It has a good vibe to it. I suggest starting slow with your ordering, as the food is more filling than I realized, and the dessert is an obvious must have. Go with a friend so you can share everything--you won't regret it! I really loved the modan-yaki we got. Definitely my favorite of the night. And the toast dessert with ice cream?? Can't be beat. I hope to be back sooner than a couple of years!

The Okonomiyaki sauce was too sweet for my taste, but everything else was good. I would try again.
Be the first to ReplySmall little restaurant but the food is amazing.
We got spicy cold cucumbers for appetizers, very refreshing. Mix negiyaki is recommended by our server also amazing. We can't stop eating the garlic fried rice, no kidding you need to try it to believe it. We sit at the bar area and watch the chef cook super fun to watch and eat good food at the same time. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

I've been craving teppanyaki so bad since we got back from Japan the other month. I am SOOO happy that I stumbled upon this place!!!!We called ahead of time to make sure they had availability, which I recommend doing as the restaurant has limited seating inside. We came in not super hungry and I'm honestly really upset about it LOL I wish we had been starving. I wanted to try so many menu items, but we settled on the Pork Kimchi and Beef Modan-yaki.Pork Kimchi: Super flavorful, great portion for the price, tender meat and nice, crunchy, kimchi. Beef modan-yaki: I love that they let you put your own bonito and seaweed on top at the table. We split it into four quarters and yummmmm. So savory, perfect amount of sauce, not too much batter. It reminded me of the okonomiyaki I had in Osaka last month. We really really wanted to order more, but didn't want to stuff ourselves. Both of us agreed though - this will be a regular spot for us when we're on the island. Also, the service was fantastic. Both waitresses that helped us were incredibly friendly and kind!

Went here for the first time last night craving some Okonomiyaki! Made reservations a few days in advance over the phone because I read on Yelp it was highly recommended to make reservations since the restaurant is pretty small. Super glad we did as when we arrived at 6pm for our reservation, they were turning away customers that did not make one because they were fully booked for the night. We ordered the Super Pork Okonomiyaki, Mix Modanyaki (had a mix of seafood and meat), Beef Modanyaki and Mochi Cheese Okonomiyaki. The mix Modanyaki and Mochi Cheese was my favorites! The Pork did not have as much pork as I would like so it was not very filling. The chef cooked the food for us and served it to us so we did not have to cook anything ourselves like usual Okonomiyaki places. My friends also ordered garlic fried rice which I had a little and it was aromatic and flavorful! Definitely will order this next time we come back. One thing I can say about this place is they make their food and season their food like in Japan, very authentic. Felt like I was back in Japan! For four people, the bill came out to about $100 including tip so not bad at all and we were all pretty full. Planning our next time to come back here to try other things on their menu!

I guess you can't walk in? It was still early about 7 in the evening and me and my husband were turned away because it was by reservations only. You should put a sign outside if that was the case...
Be the first to ReplySooo tasty! It's like you're in Japan! The most Lehi
Sooo tasty! It's like you're in Japan! The most Lehi okonomiyaki restaurant! Get the tonpei, mochi cheese okonomiyaki, beef tongue, sobameshi, and tamago yaki! They are all so delicious. Asahi on draft and a grapefruit hai ball ade excellent drink choices! For dessert, their honey toast with green tea ice cream hits the spot! This restaurant is small so make reservations for sure! Also park on the street or you have to pay in the lot behind the restaurant. I recommend 5/5 it's my new favorite place to go with coworkers!!
Be the first to ReplyLittle hole in the wall Japanese spot.
The okonomiyaki is really good, best on the island. The restaurant has locations in Japan and is really authentic. The yakisoba is also good and the octopus.
Be the first to ReplyWe really enjoyed our meal here.
Went as a family to celebrate a birthday. 9 of us got seated and since it was our first time we had a bunch of questions. The gal working was really nice and recommended some great dishes. The natto lovers enjoyed the Natto Negiyaki. They ended up ordering a second one since it was so good. The kids enjoyed the steak which was tender and nicely seasoned. The other okonomiyaki dishes we had was perfectly cooked just like in Osaka. I have to say that the 2 people working busted their butts. They were short staffed yet served a full restaurant with excellent food. I would definitely go back to enjoy a taste of Japan located just a few miles away from me.

Great spot to eat Japanese food, popular with Japanese nationals and locals. Best to make reservations. Parking is located behind the restaurant- access on Keeamoku.

Been wanting to check this place out for a while, and so glad that we did! We pretty much loved everything that we ordered (I think we ordered half the menu. Lol)Prices are definitely on the high side, considering that their portions are VERY small. But because of the quality and service, we'll definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyYaki Yaki Miwa is a branch and franchise from Japan.
Chef Yuji is good friend of mine and one of the best cooks I've met. The restaurant specializes in Teppanyaki which includes anything from Japanese A5 Wagyu, Scallop from Japan, Vegetables. But the real treat of these restaurant is the Okonomiyaki, Yakisoba and Omurice. Probably as good as it gets when it comes to these true soul food from the Kansai region cooking of Japan. Its just of those classic delicacy that you have to treat yourself. The chef really knows how to season things in a subtle manner so every bite you get is full of umami and perfectly balanced maillard goodness. He has three different setting of fire and heat, so the food can be cooked in perfect manner. The show of teppanyaki is really about understanding the fire and controlling the heat. Yujisan is a shokunin who mastered this technique years ago hence he is the only person under control when it comes to doing the main cooking. It is going back to Japan when dining here, perhaps even better than many of the teppanyaki, and okonomiyaki places in Japan.
Be the first to Replytry the deluxe set.
great place for large groups with kids too. teppanyaki style with okonomiyaki tama and the modan style, excellent, also garlic fried rice great. osaka style! enjoy the grilled steak pieces, dipping sauces and seafood along with veggies. plain rice extra. dessert to top it off
Be the first to ReplyWe may grill here in Hawai'i but in Japan Teppan is just
We may grill here in Hawai'i but in Japan Teppan is just about everything.Yaki Yaki Miwa has been on my mind for quite some time and honestly I try to take Mom places since we haven't traveled well I haven't traveled for over two going on three years and she hasn't even longer. So I try to take her to different places, places that she would love so I called for reservations and was lucky to have one just in a couple hours.Located on the corner of S King and Keeaumoku parking is available in the back though it's not free there are lots of street parking as well.Place is quite small so certainly reservations are recommended as we entered we're instantly greeted "Hi Irene!" lol we were then seating right at the teppan counter shielded by plexiglass with a slot on the bottom to serve plated meal. Mom wasn't thrilled as I knew she's a proper seated table gal and pretty much hates I mean hates "bar" seating all you see is her look of disgust as the server kindly approached us and asked if we wanted something to drink she was still mumbling about our seats and why we were here lol! Looking stunned he left as I calmed her down omg and we ordered drinks two iced green tea.As we scanned the menu she instantly tells me Okonomiyaki! Okonomiyaki! I want that haha!!! So we started with Potato Salad as our appetizer which is a huge scoop on a bed of lettuce with egg and onion mixed in topped with crumbled crispy bacon yummy!! Absolute Japanese style I've come to be so familiar it was just a fantastic as I ate most of it.....oops!!We then ordered Pork Yakisoba...ya it's good trust me I really don't know what else to say, the chef has the load of seasoning beside him and he aint shy with it it's so lightly seasoned but full of flavor is that possible!?! YUP!Before our yakisoba was made I see him starting with the Okonomiyaki that turned out to be ours but as it takes time to prepare it's started earlier so it's wise to order it if you're interested in it. We also ordered one more thing Sobameshi (soba as in yakisoba and meshi is what Japanese refer to rice) we got the half of the regular which includes noodles, rice, cabbage, konnyaku, shank meat and green onion. To be honest this was my favorite of all items we ordered! Just the right of everything I wouldn't change anything it was so yummy I'd instantly have it again...my own bowl lol!!!We did share it all so and the portion seemed small which is certainly not the case it was just perfect we did have enough room to share a dessert and got the "Sweet Potato with Ice Cream" it's a scoop of prepared sweet potato grilled with a scoop of vanilla or matcha ice cream. The sweet potato grilled gave it a Azuki vibe which I thought was a creative twist was mopped it all!Chef is constantly on top of things and made sure we're all taken care of, the staff is such a delight and just watching it all right before our eyes is amazing. They do have a few tables for a max party of four with a hot plate in the center is not for cooking but to place your order and to keep it warm...cool!Everything is made fresh to order yet it's done so proper and fast, mom was amazed and even spoke to the chef of how she had a great time the both converse in Japanese and it just made her day and still talks about it.We're never to old to experience new things and I plan to take her places even when she's doubtful lol!!Thank you!!どうもありがとうございます!!^_^

Amazing place! If you can only get one thing from this place, definitely get the beef tongue. It is so good and very thick!
Be the first to ReplyI love a good okonomiyaki! With the filling, crispy
I love a good okonomiyaki! With the filling, crispy outside, and sauces making up the perfect bite!! I went with a couple of friends since it was all of our first time. We read reviews that parking in the back was no longer free so we just street parked along king st. Our reservation was at 630 PM and it was a little empty but by the time we left closer to 830 PM it was pretty full. They have a variety of okonomiyaki, negiyaki, sobameshi, and noodles. We decided on the Miwa's Tama Special okonomiyaki, cheese tama, today's dynamite, kimchee sobameshi, and two desserts. We were a little confused if we would be the ones cooking our food since there was a hot plate in the center of the table, however, that's just there to keep the food warm which is also nice! My favor I ate was the today's dynamite. It was so creamy and cheesy definitely a must. I think the filling changes everyday or maybe every week. The okonomiyaki was also very tasty and I suggest getting a couple different ones and doing family style with your group. I will be back to try out the different flavors and combos for the okonomiyaki!
