We were disappointed with some elements of the service. The staff were fairly blunt and un-accommodating. We asked for a bottle of Prosecco and were given a ยฃ70 bottle of sparkling wine without being told the price until the bill came. I think they could do more to improve the customer experience

I loved my meal at this restaurant. People have complained about small portion sizes but I thought they were perfect for sharing with a partner. The waitress let us know her recommendation for how many plates and sizes we should get and it worked out well. The wine options were great. I would come back here again.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding dessert & Vieille Noix couldn't quite rescue the evening
The restaurant is an open plan dining room and kitchen with a clear industrial workspace feel. The seating is arranged so that we could be sharing a table with โnew found friendsโ. The tapas style menu {the restaurant is a British & Spanish small plates eatery} changes frequently and the central chalkboard shows the food, wine and other drinks on offer. Our waiter advised on the amount of food we should order and the waitress seemed well informed about the background and flavour of the wines although neither offered suggestions as to pairing the wines with the plates that weโd ordered. The sharing plates were interesting but all the โsaucesโ dominated the main ingredient of each dish. I wanted the mushrooms, the asparagus and the calรงots to be the star of the show but were lost. The accompanying sauces were good, especially the spelt over the asparagus, but I wanted to savour the main stars. We ordered 2 of the larger dishes; the trout and the ray wing. The ray wings were very good but my lips were left with a salty glaze which took a while to lose. The trout was possibly the most disappointing dish. Our white wines were left unfinished. None of them were exciting and didnโt really do anything for the meal. A plus for the restaurant, the price per glass was in correct proportion to the full bottle price. Of the 4 desserts on offer, we found that the choice quite simple. It was then only one left after weโd eliminated the other 3. Why dress up a crรจme brรปlรฉe with rhubarb and rose ? A rum baba {this dish seems to be making a bit of a come back} is ok if you like rum soaked cake. A plate of unknown cheeses is always a risk. BUT โฆ wait because we did order the Caramel ice cream choux bun, chocolate & praline which was a success. We also paired this with the Vieille Noix from the โAftersโ list. This combination was a success but sadly not sufficient to rescue an overpriced, disappointing experience.

Lovely relaxed setting, super friendly staff. Fab food presentation. The portions were on the small and pricey side but they were all extremely delicious. The wine selection was excellent and even the dessert list, which looked pretty standard on the board, all surprised us when we tucked in. This place has set a new standard for creme brulee ๐๐ป
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced pretentious nonsense
The portions are not only small but lack substance. The cuttlefish I ordered was barely the size of a shrimp cut so small that the chef must have used a scalpel. The mussel risotto was bland and most of the rest was too salty. And obscuring everything in squid ink seems like a grifter's gambit. The wine list is ridiculous - a ยฃ10 bottle priced at ยฃ60. It's also very noisy. Absurd and pointless .
Be the first to ReplyGood food, good bread, and good lunch
We had a very good time sitting at the bar watching the service in front of us, the place is small and the service relaxed, so if you want table cloths and silver service this might not be for you. The menu changes daily and we were treated to good octopus and whipped cod roe with beetroot amongst other dishes, The rum babas was a great way to finish the meal. It was the day of the FA Cup game so the place was busy and full but from our vantage point we had a great time. Oh and the bread is very good.
Be the first to ReplyDon't go!
probably the worst service i have encountered in London! decent food, avoid the seabass, avoid the wine (it's all too natural and tastes vile!)
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced food very tasty but wouldnโt go again.
Positives: The food was very good, and there seemed a nice vibe. Negatives: The dishes were hugely overpriced and some dishes came out cold. Service was so bad, the staff seemed to prefer to talk to each other than wait on tables. The white wine was undrinkable so my friends had to go for red and my lager was so small and they had a head on it that took up a quarter of the glass. We were sat next to the door and kept getting a freezing draft as the customers and a member of staff kept leaving the door open. So annoying. Then the waitress seemed to remember we were there when she pestered us to leave as our time was up. Would never go again and do no recommend.
Be the first to Replya great meal
sat at the counter, the waitress was a sour puss but for the rest what an amazing meal. I ordered the Sea Bream, the toast with pork fat and anchovy, the cod salad, the lamb and a cheese plate. All were very simple, not over seasoned but the favor of each dish was amazing, def. worth it to go back
Be the first to ReplySuch a disappointment!
Really disappointing visit, the staff were either too busy or just plain bored to engage with customers. To order food we were advised to take a photo of the blackboard, no printed menus. One starter was sent back as we had the vegetarian pasta option that arrived cold. It was reheated and came back burnt. Main course was sent back as also cold. When sending second course back the waitress response when asked is this acceptable to have to return food twice , I am getting it re-heated what more do you want me to do! Restaurant far too dark to the point you couldn't see the food you were eating. It's ok to get things wrong but it is how you deal with correcting things is the issue. Western Laundry failed miserably on both the quality of food and the quality of service.

We were staying in a friends apartment for the weekend, across the street from the Emirates Stadium where a certain London football team resides, and this lovely restaurant was recommended to us. It's quite hip and trendy but thats okay, there was quite a broad selection of punters in there, all thrown in together, sharing tables that had chalk lines separating the seats with the guests names written on the table. I think the next time I come here I'm going to give them a false name like Tarquin or Sausageface or something silly. Anyway, seating arrangements aside, lets move on to the important stuff. The menu is also written in chalk on a blackboard on the wall, which for those of a certain age and in quite subdued lighting could possibly be an issue although our waiter was very helpful in reading through it with us and was more than willing to answer any questions we had. It's a sharing menu, as is quite common these days, sort of a tapas kind of thing where you're given small but very tasty dishes to tuck into, you'll need at least six of them for two people. First up was a fried sprat on pork fat toast that was small but packed a flavourful punch, it was delicious and a great way to begin proceedings. Next was Mussel escobeche on a small slice of bread with very delicate pickled onions, again, tiny but superb flavours, by the time this one was over I was very pleased with myself for picking such a good restaurant on such a cold and miserable evening! Lamb sweetbreads, cooked to perfection with spinach and about a pint of tarragon butter, this was the highlight for me, mouthwateringly fabulous. Spinach and tarragon was a new one for me, brilliant. Hake, which I love, again perfectly cooked with pureed celariac, celery and fennel. It was about this time that it occurred to me that the chefs here, like all good chefs everywhere, are not in the least bit afraid of butter and may god bless them for it. Such a great choice of veg to go with the beautiful fish, so tasty. Last and I'm sorry to say, least, was Baked cuttlefish with fideo pasta and aioli. Unlike everything else we had, this particular dish sounded like a great idea but was poorly executed. The pasta was baked with the ink and barely a mouthful of cuttlefish with a dollop of way too thick aioli. The flavour wasn't bad to be fair to the chef but it wasn't great and for ยฃ23 it should have been mindblowing. However, that being said we had some wonderful food, some wonderful wine and a five minute walk home, so I'd call that a winner.

Really lovely restaurant. Cool setting, lovely ambience, a lovely neighbourhood spot off the beaten track that you genuinely wouldn't know existed. I've lived in London for 11 years and I'd never heard of Drayton Park as an area before, despite it being super close to lots of stuff I did know. Low lighting, candles and a real buzzy atmosphere in this place. Service was friendly, very efficient but not at all in your face. Plenty of information given about each dish if you asked for it. The menu changes almost daily so to get an idea of what you might be eating their insta is the place to go. We enjoyed radicchio and onion tart, leeks with tromopettes, plaice with herb butter, grated brussell sprout and fondant potato and pheasant with port and sage. All delicious! Washed down with very affordable and quaffable house wine. No room for dessert! Go here for somewhere different that none of your mates will have heard of. You won't be disappointed.

Service crisp and concise. Super people! Great ambiance, and a positive vibe. Food unexciting and over promised. Natural wine extortionately expensive, no other options.
Be the first to ReplyLovely food in a relaxed atmosphere but by no means cheap
I took my wife here on her birthday and we had some fabulous food which was worth sharing with someone special. Would have had 5 stars from me if the menu was easier to read. It's a blackboard on the wall and my sight isn't perfect (but not that bad). It would have helped if the waiter had taken the time to help us understand what was on the menu - many of the dishes were unfamiliar to us so lots of googling ensued. What we got was brilliant in places and nothing was anything other than great. I'm not sure about the wine - v expensive for what we had I thought.
Be the first to ReplyReally nice, interesting small plates
We've been twice with friends and family, and have had a lovely experience trying a medley of interesting foods. We'll be back as the menu changes often, and while it's not a cheap experience, it's definitely a special one.
Be the first to ReplyArrived in anticpaition, food very good, service lacks finesse. It was my birthday celebration
We arrived at 2.30 for lunch. Ordered drinks and lovley pickles and bread. Then one member of staff appeared and said the kitchen closes in a few minutes you must put your order in. The urgency was not highlighted at the time of booking and anyway that is not the way to encourage fine dining in a relaxed manor. The menu is written on a board on the wall. You have to photograph it and share with your table. The writing is not clear and what if we did not have a phone? the wine and food were very nice. The young gentleman waiter was charming. Throughout the meal however there was noisy building works happening in the road and building adjacent. Despite us raising this as an issue the staff did not apologise We were alowed to order deserts which were very good. We then ordered coffee and about 10 minutes later we were told there was no codffee available. They would be grinding more for the evening. Why not for us? And as we paid and were getting ready to leave...one of the staff said "please can you leave we are getting ready for this evening". Service needs to be delivered with politness. The young man who served us was charming and we felt that he was given the chanrge of delivering messges from on high. Not good!!!! A restuarant with arrogance that lacks service Just a litlle thought and custome care and it could excel. But at the moment it needs improvement. It is the service from on high that needs a review and the Laundry can not rely on junior staff being the messenger Go on you know you can do it. Encourage us back!!! You are letting yourselves down its the ambience and food that keep you afloat
Be the first to ReplyReally disapointing
We have eaten at the restaurant in the South west, which was fab. We use the bakery in Hornsey a lot, which is also excellent. First time we came here, the service was poor, but the food ok. This time a thoroughly disappointing affair. we were met by a clearly uninterested front of house. We sat at the counter on stools without backs which were awkward and uncomfortable. We were directed to the menu on a large chalkboard to make our selections. Nobody explained the menu to us, including that these were all meant to be shared and would come out when ready. When one personโs โmainโ arrived but the other wasnโt sent out until that was finished we were confused and asked - at which point the sharing model was explained and an apology offered. Then the 2nd โmainโ arrived, over-0priced pollock, but was burnt. We sent it back and asked for it to be cancelled which was honoured. They offered free desserts but we were fed up by then. We then got the bill which included a service charge. I was too embarrassed to ask for it to be removed but felt I should not have been put in that position given they already knew service had been suboptimal. The menu is very overpriced in general - lobster spaghetti at ยฃ29 came with a few small pieces, incredibly overpriced for what came. So disappointing, would not recommend given the level of service and price.
Be the first to ReplyGood food but outrageously expensive
Lovely ambience. Great, imaginative food, BUT very, very small portions, especially sharing as a table of four. Very, very expensive and average wine. Would not visit again for these reasons. Way too expensive for a neighbourhood restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyNot fot me
Very expensive for what you get. I didn't get the sharing concept. They bring new dishes but not cleaning plates from the previous. I had lamb it was like old shoe. People sit an inch away from each other, very claustrophobic. But the chef has a good taste buds, but portions tiny. So I wouldn't come back
Be the first to ReplyStrange experience
The restaurant is a little off the beaten track and is quite a unique proposition, with some interesting dishes. The food we had was really good on the whole however, however the portion sizes were very small and not befitting the price. The staff, however, were very rude when it came to settling up. We took the service charge off and were accused of 'stealing someone's wage' which isn't how the service charge works. We mentioned this to the manager and he didn't care which was rather strange too. So, a bit of a mixed bag. Food was nice but small portions for the price. Staff not friendly if you don't pay the service charge. Manager nonplussed.

Westerns waits for you!
I had no expectations as Iโd not chosen this restaurant. It sits on a beautiful residential area in Drayton Park. Long tables give a sense of sharing, which is the philosophy of this restaurant - sharing plates are what they do well. 3 of us shared some small and large plates.
Service was impeccable. Staff so cheery. It was Gregโs first night but you would never have known it. He was great!
Dishes we loved were: the baked cuttlefish with fideo pasta, garlic leaves and romesco. And a rhubarb pud. Seasonal, local and fresh produce.
A gem!
Brilliant!
Fantastic food with a huge variety of dishes, friendly staff and brilliant wine. Canโt recommend highly enough and will be returning.

First time trying this restaurant and I was not disappointed โฆ wonderful atmosphere and the service of excellent!
Watching the kitchen staff prepare all the food was a great experience and to top it all off .. the food was amazing!
I will most definitely recommend and return!
Sensational
Had the tastiest meal here with a friend. We were sat at the counter, with a perfect view into the kitchen, able to watch the amazing team with together. The food was some of the best we've tasted, and between us we've eaten in a lot of high end restaurants. Knowing the food is sourced with such care and consideration, made it all the more tasty! The staff were knowledgeable about all the dishes, able to answer all our questions about the ingredients that were new to us. Beautiful atmosphere with the warm orange glow of the considered lighting made this a perfect experience. Reluctantly recommending this place, just hope I can get booked in again soon!

A great welcome and exceptional service. The tasting plates were all delicious, the mackerel and crab plates in particular. Excellent wines accompanied each course, suggested by a very knowledgeable manager. We moved outside for coffee and liqueurs by which time every table was full and there was a great atmosphere. A super evening and I look forward to returning soon.
