W Toronto Reviews from The Last Year
Don’t choose this hotel unless you have no choice
The room was small and decorated like a 3 star hotel. Bathroom and toilets are tiny as well. Service was generally bad, except for one staff who was kind enough to give me all the amenities needed (I didn’t ask for her name but I wish I did coz she’s the only nice one) Very rigid about check out time. Fire alarm during our stay, had to walk down. All this for cost of almost CAD500 per night. Unless you value the location, I would say stay away from the hotel. You can get better ones nearby.
Great Location
Great location, next to Metro. New clean and nice rooms. Friendly stuff. Fridge in the room with bad cooling. Water power in the shower is insufficient. But rooms are new and beautiful, good beds.
We loved our stay at the W.
The room was huge with a convenient sitting area. The luxury bath products were luxurious. The location is excellent with lots of great spots in the area and also the subway underneath. Overall the staff were wonderful. We breezed in around 10:15 pm after sitting in 5 hours of eclipse traffic and kitchens had mostly closed. Tired and stressed, we plunked down at the living room bar and Roche's kindness and chill vibes really made an impression on us. He gave us great recommendations for our stay. We came to toronto with only a lose plan of what to do and between Roche and the concierge walked away with enough recommendations to sustain us through our stay. The skylight lounge was also gorgeous. Definitely more of an upscale vibe but the bartender there was fun too and made up cocktails on the spot for us. Be aware that their self park garage has extremely low ceilings. The valet option was $75 a day so we took the valets suggestion and parked in the surface lot at church and bloor for much less. The only downside is the paper thin walls. You'll hear your neighbor taking a wiz... and their alarm, and so forth. But def would stay here again.

Roche & Fareba were Incredible!
First time to Toronto and a Canadian friend suggested that I book the W Toronto. WOW. It's not just 'staying at a hotel'--- the W Toronto makes it an entire beautiful experience. I have had great experiences at W's before in the US, but this was above and beyond. The hotel is gorgeous. Sit around the fire in the lobby at night with snow falling just outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, or sit around the swanky bar with bartenders who are incredibly welcoming, diverse, and cool. I booked a standard room and it felt like a piece of art-- highly creative, thoughtfully designed and gorgeous. We hit Skylight, the lounge at the top of the W, twice throughout our trip and even brought new Canadian friends back with us there and they loved it. While the entire staff was great, I want to give a special shoutout (and thank you) to 2 staff members in particular: Roche, one of the lobby bartenders was the first person we met after check-in. Roche was exceptionally kind, undeniably personable, and just made our evenings around the bar an incredible time. Me and my friends looked forward to having drinks there before dinner just because he made it such a warm and friendly environment. Thanks R! And the cleaning attendant on our 11th floor: Fareba. Each day as we would come out of our rooms Fareba would ask us how we slept and see if there was anything she could do to make our stay better. I have literally never had this kind of kindness and attention from any hotel cleaning staff anywhere in the world besides Disney Cruises. Some days she put extra waters in our rooms just because. My coworker who stayed in a room across the hall had the exact same experience with her. Fareba took such pride in her work and it truly made our mornings just a little brighter each time we saw her. Thank you!
A great place to stay in the heart of downtown
I stayed here for 2 nights on business and was quite pleasantly surprised at the experience. The room was incredibly well appointed and meticulously clean. Bed and pillows are super comfortable and the in room dining service was remarkably quick and the food was excellent There is a great coffee bar and market around the corner. A great place to stay and would highly recommend it
The W Toronto
The hotel and the staff are amazing. The experience begins with the valets who were quick to help and always smiling. The check in was seamless. As for the rooms they were modern and sleek. The hotel is centrally located to downtown with many cute places to grab a meal. There is even an Eataly down block! For us the highlight was dinner at the hotel restaurant on the 9th floor. The executive chef, Michael Hawryluk, created a wonderful and delightfully delicious menu. The setting was upscale casual and comfy and romantic. I would highly recommend having dinner there. Also, Michael came out to see how we were enjoying the meal and it made us feel like we were old friends.
Birthday Weekend Retreat
Booked into the W for a couple nights and reserved two rooms for a birthday weekend in the City. One double queen faced the city and one faced the courtyard. Both rooms were well appointed with enough space for 3-4 people to share the room. the courtyard rooms would be very nice in the summer as it has a "see-and-be-seen" vibe between the lobby pavilion and the surrounding rooms. The city room was on the back side of the hotel so it was quiet and also not super bright in the morning (good for us). The service was spectacular with lovely little touches like a handwritten card welcoming us to the hotel, birthday balloons, chocolates, champagne and cake pops. It helped us feel welcomed and settled in for our stay. All of our interactions with the staff were super courteous and professional from check-in to waiting for our pickup. The building is from the 70s so the ceiling heights in the older sections are are lower than what you'd expect from a new building, but the space well designed with sophisticated touches and they've added new features where they could. One thing I noticed is that the nice light bars in the hallway are being damaged by the cleaning staff's trolleys unfortunately. Not too sure how that's going to hold up for the long hall. We had breakfast at Public School which was very nice, a little expensive, but honestly, this is Toronto so get used to it. All the breakfasts in our group were well executed and service was on point and attentive. On our first day, the main dining room was full so they extended service to us in the coffee house which was above and beyond. One small gripe was the main floor washrooms. The sensors on the sinks weren't working very well and need some repair. These washrooms are shared by the restaurant as well as the public so I can see how they get damaged, but it is a touchpoint that needs to be attended to.
W Hotel - hard to find up front but I'd 100% go back
The room was good. The bed was good. The staff are great. It was clean. It is super close to everything. Starbucks is next door inside a grocery story. I attended the W twice in January. I am Marriott and received a room upgrade both visits, with the first being "bigger" than the second. However, overall the rooms were very similar. I do not see a need to get the "bigger" room for cost. It was a lovely hotel. My issue was finding it. And for Uber eats to find it. There are two "in" doors -- one directly off Bloor and one up a parking ramp. DO THE PARKING RAMP door. It is way easier for suitcases. My first trip I went in the door beside the big "W" on Bloor and landed in the restaurant. I had to drag my suitcase and carry on up the 5 steps. It wasn't a nice welcome. But the "main" doors up the parking ramp had nice doormen to open them and help you along your way. Once you get inside, you follow the "hotel" signs and go to the 6th floor for the lobby - up an elevator. It's not entirely intuitive. But once you do it once, it makes total sense. There was construction nearby but I did not hear it at all. I saw it out the window and expected to hear it, but not a peep. The sound from room to outside was great. No sound. The sound from room to room was questionable. But that may have just been my neighbours with loud music one evening. And they turned it off at a reasonable time. The bathroom is a "shower booth" and a "toilet booth". The shower has a hand held and a rain show head. Good pressure. Good toiletries. The soap by the sink is face cleanser in the pump bottle, not hand soap. Maybe only I need that memo but just in case, heads up. I brought the shower gel out, it was nicer than the bar soap for the sink. Funny little thing happened on my first shower... the toilet gulped until it flushed itself down for no reason. It was odd and made a funny noise enough for me to think someone was in the room (I was alone) and for me to poke my head out and check. I narrow it to toilet and watched it bubble gulping. I was entertained but can't entirely explain it? It worked fine before and after and did not affect the shower. The lights are a techie delight. I am not a techie. You hit a button and the curtains and lights all go together. Multiple times I tried to turn on or change a light and the curtains would open against my will...with me naked. Oi. Its neat. And fun. But also, regular light switches have worked for ages for a reason. Second to the light switches, in my first room / first visit, the curtains worked very well on the switch. The second visit, they did NOT work on the switch. They easily opened and closed with your hand, like a normal person. I actually preferred it. Some people may prefer the power curtains. I guess it used to be another "Marriott" brand hotel and was converted to W recently-ish? It's not listed in Uber etc. And for food deliveries, I had to go downstairs to meet / find the driver. One left my ice cream on a table near the ground level elevators, and I can't say I blame him. Its confusing. You need a key care to access floors 7-11 later at night/ early morning. I didn't seem to need it during the "regular" daytime. I did notice there is not true office space for working. Perhaps that was just the room level I booked. There is a Chesterfield of sorts with a coffee table ish thing. My second room also had a "tv tray" style mobile table that was heavy as a rock and not entirely mobile. My first room had great electrical plug access. My second room was a different ballgame. I could make it work but had my watch by the sink, my phone on a super long cord etc etc. Doable but odd for nowadays. It was such a perfect location. And clean. And lovely. I'd 100% go back. It's in town without being "blue jays/leafs" traffic style downtown. Great food nearby. Great services. Easy access to transport. Safe - I felt very safe to walk after dark , alone, as a female.
Great hotel but….
This is an upscale hotel in a great location. The staff are fantastic. The rooms an open concept with all that you need and Davines amenities in the bathroom. Nespresso coffee maker. Bed is comfortable and pillows were fantastic. My only complaint is that I was there for three days and not once was my room serviced. The privacy light was off and I was in meetings all day. I don’t really need much but to have the water and the coffee replenished would have been nice. I had to seek out a cleaning lady to get a bit of coffee. Once in the middle of the night I woke up thirsty but was out of luck. Some of my collegues said the hotel went above and beyond however this was not my experience. I would recommend the hotel however if you are the type of person that likes things replenished be aware that you may have to chase it down a bit. I didn’t want to chase them down. By the time I was back in my room I was tired and wanted to recharge before we went to dinner. I wanted to get ready and didn’t want them to be there freshening up linens and replacing items
Great spot in Toronto
The hotel is just WOW from the moment you step foot on the property. The valets were all so helpful and cheerful. Check in was smooth and the rooms are great. They are very modern and have a great vibe. I want to shout out to Mike from Skylight as he was an amazing server. He recommended dishes, was very knowledgeable and check in on us just the right amount. Thanks Mike. Speaking of Mikes, we were lucky to have met the executive chef who is also a Mike in the elevator. The food he prepared for us was nothing less than spectacular. I know that he kitchen was busy, yet he came out to check on us and it made us feel like we were dining in his actual home. Everything we ate was delicious and had a great twist on traditional middle eastern foods. The truffle labneh...no words! Also, the venue has a very sophisticated design yet comfy and relaxing all at the same time. Sorry we did not have time for the lobster hotdog, but maybe next time. You must try the Skylight Rooftop, it is a 10 out of 10!!!
Affordable Luxury in the Heart of Yorkville
The old Marriott on Bloor has been transformed into the W and I'm here for it. The W brand is upscale/funky vague mid-century modern decor with a vibe. They've added a fab bar/lounge space - the Living Room - on the 6th floor, which is also where you check in - and on the ground floor a cute cafe - Public School. Cheeky names. The only reason we didn't go to the rooftop Skylight was because it was Halloween and the hotel was overrun by costumed party-goers. The rooms are extremely cool - open-concept (so no boxed-in bathroom space but seamless transition from room to couches to shower behind a clever room divider that holds the sink with a kind of floating mirror integrated into the design), gorgeous upscale touches (a full bar set-up with sleek shakers etc), excellent linens, towels. This is (at the moment) affordable luxury in the heart of Yorkville. Highly recommended. Listen - the Caesars were $20 but the bar is gorgeous -
Nice Hotel and Nice People!
The W used to be the Yorkville Marriott, but without this prior knowledge I would never have noticed because the transition was absolutely remarkable. Everything was brought up a couple notches and the added W touches definitely made the best of this older building. That being said, the team here definitely was a highlight to me, especially Kurtis and the W Insider team, who went above and beyond for our special occasion. Thank you Kurtis for everything and we'll definitely come back and say hi again!
New, which is always nice BUT - there are some fundamentals
New, which is always nice BUT - there are some fundamentals that are poorly considered and/or designed. There is no desk in the room. One low wobbly side table - no way to do work. I asked where there might be a quiet work space in the hotel - there isn't one. All restaurants and bars have music playing so it's not even possible to work or have a call in one of the public spaces. In the room the layout is awkward. The bedside light is on the far opposite side of the bed from where the table is. After showering you have to exit the shower area completely and reach around the door to access a towel. The basin tap placement interferes with logical tooth brushing and hand washing movements. And the sink itself is black, so it shows every drop of soap and toothpaste from first use so looks kind of disgusting all the time. Overall this place just doesn't work for a typical business traveler and seems to me to just be trying too hard to be cool.

First time in Toronto for a mother/daughter trip and this
First time in Toronto for a mother/daughter trip and this hotel was beautiful, convenient and walking distance to a lot of great places to try. Very impressed with their friendly staff and find their amenities, restaurants, and rooms very creative and unique. It's whimsical decor is fun and inviting! Really quite shocked at some of the negative reviews, but you can't please everyone! To slam a business for its uniqueness and atypical floor plans or improvements is not very nice. I love it here and would consider to stay here again the next time I'm in town!

I love this hotel It's a bit hard to find but service was good The room was stayed at was an upgrade and the receptionist was so sweet We landed at 10:30 am and it was quite early for check in but they got a room ready for us by 11:30 While we waited they served us a sparkling drink. So thoughtful The room is nice though there should be more bathroom counter The only bad thing is that the hotel forgot to call me when I asked for a wake up call. No worries. We made our early room call The bellhop was the best There was a marathon so the street was blocked and the Uber could not find us. He walked blocks to locate our Uber. Now that is service!!!

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

I am having a tough time contacting and elucidating a response from AT Support. I had a listing at 6pm, which was a mistake as the actual listing reservation was at 11pm. This got somehow approved by AT, and a customer bought this from me for 6pm. I want to cancel this listing and refund customer , but there is no way of doing this ! This is so frustrating and making me lose hope on AT. Can someone help me please?

Banned from Resy for selling reservations- Do we have a rat on our hands???
I am new to this app and started off by selling a polo bar reservation and then quickly sold one more reservation. Not long after I received emails from Resy saying all my reservations are cancelled and I am being banned from Resy for life. How could this have possibly happened without a rat telling Resy that I sold the reservation. I need some advice on this situation and let’s catch the rat!
Give the best answerBid and Buy Instantly
I have a big ongoing and it also shows someone is working on my bid. Today I see there is a " Buy Instantly " option at my portfolio showing same price I've bid for a reservation. I'm a bit confused, since my money has already been deducted from my credit card for the bid, do I need to pay one more time for the Buy Instantly? If I choose Buy Instantly, can I cancel my bid ( while someone is working on it )? Thanks!
