Interesting Italian Menu - Good Off Street Parking about 30 yards South
There was some Very Good Food and Some OK Food. Believe it or not the best food was there Crispy potatoes that were on the side. The Very Best I have ever tasted. Our Salmon had to be returned because it was raw inside. My thoughts were that it was Frozen first. When they brought it back the second time it was good and a very generous portion. My side dish vegetable plate was Great and Big. Prices were pretty fair. The outdoor dining was pleasant and Larchmont is a fun street.

On a prior visit to Los Angeles, two years ago, we had enjoyed Vernetti's and recently we went with the same friends who had introduced the place to us in 2019. I had what may have been the most satisfying pesto dish I've ever had! My wife loved her branzino entree -- and our friends were quite satisfied with their meals as well. The service was prompt, helpful and pleasant. It is not inexpensive but it's worth it!

Came here by chance while searching for a place on OpenTable with outdoor dining & dog friendly - Vernetti ticks both. We had such a great time, that we ended up back here two weeks in a row since then. So I guess now is a good time to finally write a review.
There's a pretty good selection of dishes and each time I've tried to get something different. Although one dish in particular keeps calling out to me... Here's the list of what we've ordered, so far:
Ravioli Special App ($32) - The sauce on this dish was delicious, the beef was slightly bland and fully packed into the Ravioli. But the sauce was the real winner here.
Pappardelle Con Funghi ($24) - My absolute favourite. The first dish I tried here and definitely the one that is my benchmark against all the other dishes I plan to try. I highly recommend this, it's so delicious!
Chicken Parmigiano ($31) - Very good quality and enormous! As in it was a very generous serving. Literally had to take half of it home. Super tasty!
Bucatini Bolognese Special ($42) - Another delicious treat. This one is a special so they don't have it all the time. So if you happen to have the server mention that this is one of the special's for the evening - give it a try :)
Tortelloni Quattro Formaggi ($22) - Total cheese overload - I mean, but the good kind of cheese. The sauce is so yummy and creamy. I think I actually enjoy the white sauce based pastas more here for some reason, the flavour is just too good. I'm not really a big cheese fan, but willing to overlook it for the sauce in this dish.
Bucatini Pesto alla Genovese Con Gamberi ($32) - Fresh and great ingredients. But a little lacking in flavour.
Rigatoni Con Salsiccia ($29) - Super yum and yes a little bit of spice. I have been pushing my husband to try it lol and he finally did and loved it. And so did I - sharing is caring!
Chocolate Budino ($6) - Chocolate mousse, good but not out of this world. I definitely need to try the Tiramisu next time.
Pio Cesare Cortese di Gavi 2019 (HH $52) - Not so much a fan of this one.
California Pinot Noir * Challen 'Scarlett', Santa Maria Valley 2016 ($66) - Loved it, perfect balanced wine and pairs well with any of the dishes. Usually go for this one.
Quantity 4/5 - Good portion sizes.
Ambience 5/5 - Super casual with a really nice ambience. We always sit outside and it's great in the evenings with the cute lights. It's the perfect dinner spot, super cozy and good vibes. We always have a great time here.
Service 5/5 - All the servers are very friendly & accommodating and never have to wait long to be seated. We've always had really good service each time we've been here.
Taste - 4/5 - Everything is made with excellent quality ingredients and super delicious.
Parking - There's two public parking lots, one next door and the other is across the road from the first. There's also metered street parking, but we usually park in the spot next door and haven't had any issues so far.
Super homely, neighbourhood Italian dining with great atmosphere. Love the location! The highlights for me are the the Pappardelle Con Funghi (absolute fave), Bucatini Bolognese Special and Rigatoni Con Salsiccia. And there are definitely a few other items on the menu that are on my list to try next. I'm literally dreaming of when I can visit here again!
wonderful neighborhood bistro: tiny space but great food
This wonderful neighborhood is very full of young life, families of every age and variety..
Vernetti is this very tiny Italian restaurant that has had to move out onto the street while LA handles CoVid the way it does, but it still manages to provide you a fabulous, intimate, delicious Italian dinner with great pastas, the freshest ingredients, and a good wine selection at very fair prices.
We went for birthdays and, after they seated us in a place where we could be warm and intimate and have a lovely time right next to the building (rather than out in the middle of the sidewalk or on the street) they greeted us with complementary glasses of Prosecco in honor of the birthdays. How many people do that anymore
Their service is professional and attentive, well-timed and they’re extremely knowledgeable about everything they make especially because the food was incredibly fresh. The salads are quite generous.
We started with an arugula salad and a seived egg salad then followed that with rigatoni and branzino accompanied by a lovely Valpolicelpa Ripasso they even brought a birthday desert!. All in all a much better price, and definitely much better food, than so many of the other LA restaurants. This is a superior restaurant all the way around and gets a very high rating for very good reason.
You would be crazy to miss this on any visit or if you live there. We will be going back on our next visit.
Delicious diversion at their place or yours.
A real treat and delicious diversion. We have enjoyed some lovely full bodied wines and wonderful meals at Vernetti’s chic and quaint bistro on Larchmont. Thankfully, that same great culinary experience is available to go and Vernetti does not disappoint. I love Italian food (who doesn’t) but after a restaurant meal I’m often left thinking “ I could have made that”. But not with Vernetti. Their creamy polenta is rich and comforting, the fresh Buratta perfectly pairs with tomatoes and their delicious ciabatta bread. Generous meatballs in a flavorful tomato sauce accompanied by crispy smashed potatoes will satisfy even a picky eater. Thank you Vernetti for giving us a bit of diversion and pleasure during these trying times!

Dinner is great here with terrific pasta but the best is the breakfast at 10 on Saturday and 9 on Sunday. The variety is terrific. Best is the Frittata which arrives bot in a skillet and half can go home. Chicken sausage and eggs--the best. All good

Be the first to ReplyWe loved our experience at Vernetti
We met friends for dinner at Vernetti recently and were delighted by our experience. The four of us all had fish entrees (branzino, swordfish and salmon) and all were very pleased. I had the salmon which came with deliciously prepared potatoes. The service was prompt, helpful and pleasant. The prices are a bit on the high side but well worth it.

Had: Deviled egg crostini (2 pieces, lovely but would be more accurately called, an egg salad crostini w/anchovy); house cured salmon (would be better with a splash of olive oil, or dill, or something. Dry cured salmon with a lot of bread); Osso bucco (above average but way too much sauce which drowned the polenta and the meat completely and reduced the flavors to one thing and one thing alone). Sat at the bar and asked my server what was best. He was lovely and talked me through the menu with great aplomb and detail. Wonderful people work here and it's a very welcoming enjoyable atmosphere. I was even given a glass of fortified wine afterwards 'on the house' - unfortunately, the wine had seriously gone off. It was the dregs of the bottle and I was up half the night heaving it back up. I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but sometimes you need to.

Menu is diverse enough for a variety of diets, service is snappy and setting (indoors or out in the sidewalk) is cozy for a fun brunch, boozy or not.

Wanted a lunch a lunch on a Sunday and went more brunch. Got the Avocado toast with 2 eggs, fried potatoes, baked beans. Great. The dinner menu looks like solid Italian, reasonable priced. In the cute neighborhood of Larchmont, the smallest in LA. Great people watching, diverse. Free parking in garage across the street (at least on Sunday).
