Uni Boston Reviews from The Last Year

Came here for a dinner with co-workers! The sushi obviously is amazing. Their sake selection was pretty generous. My first time trying the Tamago, I was most surprised that something so simple could taste this good. I'd gladly come back here!
Uni Boston a place to go.
The fish here at uni is next level the fish is fresh and is very unique with many different flavors that explode into your mouth. The fish has different types of fish you would have never thought could be an eating fish but this place made it possible. The inside was very upscale and high end. The waiters very nice and respectful towards you and your family. The waiters also told me recommendations and if you got sushi the waiters told you what the fish was. There was many good pieces of food. My favorites are the Maine Uni spoon it was Sea urchin, quail egg, Osetra Caviar, and Yuzu on one spoon it was flavor packed. Another favorite was Octopus sashimi in warm sesame oil and with Ginger tamari. My favorite thing was the barracuda sushi the barracuda was blow torched to a little crisp and had A sakura flower on the top. The barracuda was easily my favorite food from Uni. This is a definite to go place if you are craving sushi and you are in Boston.
Fastest $600 spent in my life.
We ordered several dishes for an experience that we expected to be extraordinary. The service was much too fast, we didn't even have time to taste the dishes. In addition, they brought the starters after the sushi.... The service was not up to the price. No refilling of wine or water. The costs ??? Much too high for the quality/quantity. Almost every dish was super spicy but it wasn't even listed on the menu. The atmosphere, blah. In short, I unfortunately do not recommend. Very disappointed for the price...

- Was recommended by a friend of mine to try this spot who raved about it. I had heard mixed reviews previously but decided to make a reservation to catch up with some friends as a late bday celebration. We came on a Thursday right when they opened at 5:30 pm. - The tables are fairly close to each other which can be uncomfortable for some. Chairs are comfy and overall interior is dim lighting accent colors of dark and light brown. - We opted out of the tasting menu as there were a couple of dishes we knew off the bat we wouldn't enjoy. The star of the show was the toro! So buttery and melted right in your mouth. Very delicious! - We ordered miso soup, the korobuta spare rib, hamachi sashimi, salmon and avocado, spicy tuna, toro and a couple of other items. Our server was very attentive and surprised us at the end with sake as we were celebrating a bday. - Overall, it was good but nothing wow or special. There's better spots in the city and at a better price point.

The service was MIA, we had to ask for our drinks and even for soy sauce... in a Japanese restaurant! Our dishes came out in rapid succession, and we had to pile the dishes as they weren't cleared. It was evident our waiter wasn't interested in doing his job, at least not with our table. The food was expensive and the service poor, possibly the worst combination for a restaurant. I informed the hostess who offered the manager, but by then all we wanted to do was leave. Would not return or recommend!
Service was MIA
It’s unfortunate that poor service will ruin your experience. The restaurant was less than half full in our section, and other tables were getting good service. We had to ask for our drinks and even for the soy sauce! In a Japanese restaurant!! The plates came out so quickly that we had to pile the uncollected ones on top of each other, and request they be removed. The waiter clearly didn’t care about us, or doing his job. As we were leaving the hostess asked us about our dining experience, when I said less than ideal, she asked if I wanted to talk with the manager. At this time all we wanted to do was leave. Over priced food and poor service… the worst two things in a restaurant. Would not return or recommend.

Hands down the best sushi in Boston! UNI has quickly earned its place as my go-to for celebratory dinners with my partner. Fantastic place to impress a date or family with a cool and fun atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming service ties this delicious experience together. We can't wait to go back!

This is one of those places that's overly precious -- expensive and serves very tiny plates, and snobby to boot. Dark ambiance. It seemed the server did not like that we didn't order as much as he wanted, and he took it upon himself to ask our kids if they wanted more bao (which of course, we would be paying for). Atrocious behavior. The tiny servings tasted fine, but skip this place if you want to enjoy dinner for a reasonable price.
Food was good, but service could've been better.
There was 2 couples beside us and manager decided to come by and check on everyone(including couple on each side of us) but us. It wouldn't have been noticeable if he wasn't the only person in a suit and he decided to skip over only us for some reason.
The uni was fresh and toro was just so so.
I'm pretty sure the yellowtail and seabass aren't fresh... I've been to so many sushi places and this is by far the worst. It'd so fishy and didn't have any taste. this is such a scam!
Great date spot.
One table with a loud kid really did not fit in here. The decor is great. I wish they had their own bathroom so the vibe wasn't broken up by a long walk through the bright hotel lobby. Dinner at UNI has an intimate atmosphere and the staff were helpful and friendly. Barracuda sashimi was good, not the most flavorful but I enjoyed it. The tako was a little oily, as advertised, but delicious and a good portion. The drinks here are always great; really creative and cover a diverse range of flavors for all preferences.i do wish the food had wowed me more for the price. It wasn't the best sushi I've had but everything was good.
Wow! Uni never stops surprising.
Fantastic food, kind service- especially at the bar. Very creative, always fresh. Local fresh fish, fun sauces and flavors. Love Uni and consider it one of the best restaurants in Boston.

Busy, trendy sushi restaurant not far from Berklee and Newbury Street. Fantastic service, good people watching, interesting and unique sushi, home of the spiciest spicy tuna roll that I've ever eaten! The start of my meal was disappointing with the worst cup of miso soup I've ever had. Absolutely no flavor to the broth and was served luke warm. My fears were soon put to rest with some rich and creamy yellowtail and fatty tuna nigiri. The Kurabuto spareribs were saucy and a bit on the sweet side. The star of the meal was the fried chicken bao bun. The chicken was crunchy and flavorful and the bun soft and pillowy. The food is pricey and served tapas style with small plates intended for sharing. I'd go back for the bao bun alone, but the spicey tuna roll must be experienced! I had tears in my eyes.
Best in Boston
Elegant interior, excellent staff who were friendly and generous with their knowledge. The Ngiri was our favourite closely followed by dessert.
A bit overrated
After wanting to try Uni for years, I was a bit disappointed and underwhelmed. When ordering, I would stick with the items “from the kitchen”. The chicken bahn mi was very good as were the wagyu dumplings, but there is nothing really special about the sushi that you couldn’t just get at your local sushi joint and the prices are unnecessarily excessive. Atmosphere is very noisy and tables are rather close together so it’s not really romantic inside. It was nice to try but I wouldn’t go back.

The vibe in this restaurant was great! We sat in the upstairs section. It's a little more lively, yet dimly lit, than the restaurant on the lower version. It's exactly what we needed. The place was happening for a Monday night. Our waiter was upbeat and helped us navigate the menu. We ordered a bunch of things to share: Bay scallop sashimi White truffle hamachi (special) Shrimp tempura Chow fun noodles Apple salad Spicy yellowtail roll Everything was really great and unique. My favorites were the bay scallop, chow fun noodles, and apple salad. I loved the citrus in the bay scallop dish. The texture in the chow fun noodles was unique and the freshness of the apple salad was great too. We ordered a bottle of sake to accompany our meal. We added on the spicy yellowtail because we were still a little bit hungry, but the items above were enough to fill our stomachs, but not feel overstuffed. This was a great place and dinner!
Great sushi spot in Boston.
Visiting from LA, I consider myself a sushi connoisseur. The sushi/ nigiri were presented nicely. They would compete with Nobu-ish establishments. Uni spoon were worth a second visit. The oysters also tasted fresh. Toro was from the best cut of tuna. Service was worthy of five stars. Busy place but the ambiance was great!!
Fabulous good, but way too noisy…
Fabulous food. One could almost just point to anything on the menu and do very well. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented . An exceptional team service effort. But I agree with the prior rating. The noise is overwhelming, almost to the point of getting up and leaving. Much more than a “lively vibe”. Tone it down with some ceiling baffles!

On a rare night out with the wife, we thought Uni could be magical. We love sushi. We're happy to splurge on our time together. The rub is this place is gas station takeout quality for Michelin star prices. We did the omakase. Thinking they know the best stuff. They upsell you on a better one, which should have been a sign that this is more a marketing effort than a culinary effort. But we did it. The first course was these "uni spoons". It's sea urchin and raw egg yolk. It's gilding the lily with can't miss ingredients, so sure it was great. Oddly for a very expensive signature item that the waiter made sure to hype up, it came in a dingy little plain spoon. Perhaps somebody in the kitchen thought this was elegant simplicity. To me it just seemed like somebody had nicked the silverware from a public school dumpster. Not to judge a book by the cover, but it was a real sign that something's off with this place. Note to self: Next time I'm paying through the nose for a hyped up restaurant and something is so clearly slipshod right from the start, just walk out. Let them sucker somebody else in. Thus started a parade of dishes that went from mediocre to bland. Hamachi, one of my favorite fish, came out as a rubbery square with a pear (?). It tasted like... pear. Oysters came with some sort of pomegranate thing that ruined the oysters. Not a good sign when you just scrape it off to try and enjoy the oysters. A tataki seemed like they tried to sear the edges gently with a torch, but was just dry and cooked. Lots of the food seemed to have been kept under a heat lamp. From the wontons with some gross sweet thing inside that had crumbly pasta pulling away from soggy bags that had clearly been left in the broth too long. A plate of four types of fish was all equally bland and dry. And they don't even use sushi rice. I get the impression there's an attempt to be creative, but really they're just getting ahead of their skis. The guys bringing you dishes mumble through a description while avoiding eye contact. They tell you basically nothing. One described our scallops as "madai" which is not the Japanese word for it. Why not just use the English word? Kind of shows the lack of care the staff takes with the whole thing. Each course came out wham-bam one after the other, making it hard to even talk never mind slowly enjoy things. I get you're trying to turn the table, but don't be so damn obvious about it. And then the bill comes. We're pondering if we should salvage our rare evening together by going somewhere nearby. And staring at that bill made me a bit angry. If you're going to charge Michelin star prices, at the very least don't suck. But it's just treating me like a money cow, happy to chomp on dry hay and still willing to squirt that sweet milk of money out of my udder. Do yourself a favor. If you want the Uni experience then just go to Grubhub, sort by star rating, and get yourself the cheapest one star available. If you want sushi go somewhere else.
Cute spot.
But the quality of the food and drinks were terrible. I asked for a lychee martini which is a fairly common and easy drink to make, they didn't have it. Food quality was just bland and ok. You can get much better quality and better tasting food elsewhere.

The food is delicious and you can feel how dedicated the chefs are to maintaining a diverse menu with unique flavors and preparations of seafood. Their famous Uni spoon is a must-try on your first visit. Even all the dessert options that we tried were delicious. An impressively lengthy list of fresh nigiri options. Customer service and friendly staff made the experience even more pleasant. The only drawback in my opinion would be the price- great for special occasions but a little expensive to visit causally.
Boston's Best Restaurants that are most frequently booked by customers of Uni Boston
Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
