Still as good
Their unagi still as good and fresh that they dare to serve without the sauce. Now they have add beef to their menu. Although their bill did not indicate service charge, they have already added
Be the first to ReplyAll day was so disgusting thanks to the unagi! 因为难吃的鳗鱼饭,严重破坏了心情!
The unagi is just way too fishy, cooked well but failed on material. Neither wasabi, shallot or pickles can cover the fishy taste. Rarely can any dish make me angry on site due to the disgusting tast, but this unagi don did.

Crispy outside from the charcoal fire and smooth melt in your mouth inside. Unagi at its best. Price reasonable for the quality.
Be the first to ReplyA Jekyll & Hyde Restaurant?
As early as 2018 I have heard about this this very tasty Japanese unagi restaurant known as Man Man. Was told you must wait at least 45 minutes. Never got to try it until this month and I went twice. There are many opposites for this reataurants since 2017. 1. Since 2017 to 2022 there were 20% total of rating for 1, 2, and 3 stars, which is rather high normally the chance of a good restaurant imo is below 6%. Best part is most complaints were about service. What? A japanese restaurant with bad service? I just came back from Tokyo and their service are impeccable unless they don't like foreigners and even then they are not rude, like when the waiter accused me of stealing a toothpick box without even checking if its still there at a restaurant just beside the Apa cheap hotel at Roppongi. See, opposite. 2. No reviews since 2022. 3. Another gripe from the complains - 40 minutes eating time. Agree. A mite too short, but normally most restaurants do not usher you out immediately the time is up. 4. Present situation: I wanted to compare the great unagi I had at Narita to this now known as Unagi Tei. And the result is? Its as good as Japan and may even be better. Grated fresh wasabi is a great idea and they should not abandone it, perhaps a mixture of pre grated wasabi and a small stalk of wasabi would be a better combination. Even the beef was as good as those I had at Kawogei. Service has improve I think. Expensive? No, price is dependent on value. For what you have and taste, its not. Unagi from live to your table. Still as crowded as ever. Oh one more thing for newbies visiting the restaurant - its at the back of the building. Spend 15 minutes looking for it and its Ubagi Tei, no more Man Man.

Service was very bad. Was told very haughtily by a waitress that we had to finish our meal in 40 minutes .
Only 3 tables were filled and there were 4 waitresses. Yet we had to ask for tea to be refilled.
Wasabi is now an extra $1. The sauce came in little containers which were insufficient. You had to ask for the pepper and seasoning.
Quality of food has dropped from pre-Covid.
Will hesitate coming back. There are better unagi restaurants.
OK-rated unagi outlet with tasty mentaiko
We had to wait half an hour for seats - queueing outside the restaurant. It was on a Saturday dinner hour (6,30-7,15pm) so the outside heat was bearable. We were unimpressed with the unagi bowl served with fresh wasabi. Saying that I enjoyed their mentaiko very much.

I wanted to give feedback to chef cos got so much bones in one of the unagi. Chef super defensive and got angry at me. Service is bad, not going anymore!!!
Be the first to ReplyPre-grilled, not freshly grilled
Very disappointed. Food was served in 5 min. Unagi was obviously prepared and grilled much earlier, and presumably kept on low heat grill because the bottom, the skin, was so hard as if it was kept grilled for extended time. The hardness of the skin ruined everything.
They no longer serve wasabi root.
I do not recommend this place, at least the Central outlet.
Trading on past glories
I popped in for an early lunch to Man Man to see if their Unagi was still good. I didn't get a chance to find out. Despite no real queue and an empty restaurant I was asked to leave until my lunch partner arrived.
I do understand that when you're the hot ticket and there are people waiting, you've got to manage the crowd. But when the place is empty, it's a 2 minute ask and only one person? Seriously? Silly rules for silly people. There are other, better choices within a short walk.
Treat your customers right and they in turn will support you. Treat them badly and they won't be your customers for long. Man Man still imagines that the world will beat a path to its doorstep.
Nope - We'll not be back.
Good food but Terrible Service and Inconsistent quality
I've been here 3 times and all three times I had ordered the same eel don. The first two times the food was good. On the third time, I received a bowl that had a terrible cut full of bones. I choked three times throughout the meal.
When I tried to feedback to the staff, they were very defensive and insisted that their eels are just bony. I often eat unagi and I know how to eat it and how much bones is normal. This was a terrible cut. After this experience I highly discourage people from coming here. The food might be good but it is hardly worth the possibility of choking or the disgusting service of the staff.
Great unagi
A top top quality eel restaurant.
Freshly cooked in front of your eyes.
Most dishes have unagi with a Japanese style rice bowl.
Delicious.
Melts in the mouth!
The restaurant at Keong Saik Rd had limited seats but was cosy and pleasant. However that meant we had to queue for a fair bit of time. But the food really lived up to the hype! We had the Hitsumabushi which had a generous portion of unagi that really melts in the mouth! Also, the fresh wasabi was superb.
Be the first to ReplySurprisingly excellent lunch!!
This little place is tucked around the corner of the first block on the street. A warm welcome in spite of the current COVID situation and we were seated quickly at our table. Great view of the fresh unagi being cut and prepared through the glass pane looking into the kitchen.
The dishes were very well explained in the menu: clear photos and words, and best of all, when we ordered, the dishes arrived actually looking like the photos. I think you know what I mean.
The unagi was as you would expect: fresh. That doesn't seem to say much but how many places do you eat at where the unagi is not swimming in tanks next to you and prepared as you watch it?
My dish was not covered in any sauce at all: and you could truly savour the fresh, light unagi with a crisp skin underneath. It was simply suberb!!
I've heard that others have commented on a muddy taste to it. I do apologise but my unsophisticated taste buds could not detect any of that.
This was the best Unagi meal I have had in years. And the quiet unimposing surroundings made this a meal that I would happily (robustly) recommend.
And yes, I SHALL return
