Ume Brooklyn Reviews from The Last Year
My friends and I had a great time dining at Ume! As soon as
My friends and I had a great time dining at Ume! As soon as you enter the restaurant you feel a calming aura. You take your shoes off and wash your hands to be welcomed with an outdoorsy garden dining area. We tried both the mocktails, cucumber yuzu and the peach one they were both SO good and refreshing. I got the cucumber yuzu drink which came in a big bowl to sip on which was funny and satisfying to me. The peach one had a very natural but strong crisp peach flavor to it. I also tried my friend's plum wine which was sweet and perfect to complement with the sushi. We all got the set, you start off with a side of soup which had a strong umami and seafood taste to it, great way to start the meal. It is suggested to eat the pieces from left to right, following the sheets suggestions on the seasonings to go with it. It was fun to test out the seasonings and try out different combinations, you really can't go wrong with any of them! I personally loved the chutoro, akami, and salmon. I loved the ghost pepper salt as it had a good kick to it, the kirami wasabi, yuzu, and hickory salt! The rice was also so good and was seasoned perfectly! I normally don't eat a lot of rice but was happy to finish all of it with all the seasonings mixed in. The service was super friendly and prompt. They even so nice to accommodate us even though we were running a bit late. We were also celebrating a friend's birthday and was surprised with complimentary ice cream with kinako and honey!
Very affordable omakase experience.
The fish layout and dips and dressing were all beautiful and fresh! My main downside is that the king salmon was replaced with boiled baby squid which I wish they told us because that is NOT an equivalent trade at all. But other than that a very interesting experience. You take off your shoes and sit on a pillow which killed my back and after walking all day my feet stank and hurt my friends noses. But all in all food was good. The standout dish was the chirashi bowl... OMG. It was delicious. I still think about it. It had toro uni and much more. Every bite was a slice of heaven. If you go here you have to get a omakase set or something of equal or greater value just a hard up
The most unique and prettiest omakase experience I've had!
The most unique and prettiest omakase experience I've had! We booked a table for 6 and this is a traditional Japanese restaurant where you take off your shoes and wash your hands before entering into the dining room. Our server led us to our table outside and you sit on a mat where the table is fairly low. You have to either sit criss-cross or on your knees. The menu is prix-fixe so everyone must order the $78 omakase but that is extremely affordable in my opinion compared to other cities (ie; SF). We chose to add sake and a supplemental ikura-don box. The omakase platter came out and was beautiful. Truly the prettiest omakases I've ever had. You get 12 pieces of sashimi that is beautifully prepared, 6 pieces of nori, a rice bowl, a small platter of seasonings. The menu itself includes instructions on how to best eat the omakase and what seasonings are recommended with each fish. It was a lovely experience and was essentially deconstructed sushi that you assemble yourself. Personally I loved this experience since it was engaging and allowed me to add on as much rice/seasoning as I preferred. I enjoyed tasting the different seasonings and brushing the soy sauce on to each hand roll. I can tell the chef put in a lot of creativity and effort into the menu which was beautifully executed. Servers were also extremely friendly and knowledgable. It was our friend's birthday and they gave us 2 ice cream dishes for us to enjoy, very kind! I'd definitely come back to dine here when I'm back in the city. 10/10 experience!

Easily a new fav omakase spot!! I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Unlike your traditional restaurants, you have to take off your shoes before you are seated. The atmosphere provided the perfect ambiance, cute for a date or just a night out with friends. Service was top-notch, with a very attentive & friendly staff. The attention to detail for was very well thought out. The fish was paired perfectly, and I loved that you are the creator of every single piece. Each plate is curated in such a beautifully artistic way. Each bite was a testament to the quality and care put into sourcing the ingredients. The chicken mushroom scallop miso soup was one of the best miso soups that I've had Overall, for the price, Ume is a stellar spot for okakase and definitely has been added as one of my favs. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable meal!

I think this is more of a place to go for vibes and aesthetics (it was really pretty not going to lie). I did enjoy taking off the shoes and sitting on the floor to eat, reminds me of living back in asian. The sushi was mediocre. This is definitely more of a fun place to go hang out with friends and stuff.
AMAZING!! all the sushi was excellent! i loved every single
AMAZING!! all the sushi was excellent! i loved every single bite, some favorites were the negitoro, uni crab, and the shima aji! each piece had a slightly innovative take which a collection of nine sauces/salts to use. they also had nori sheets and rice to make your own hand roll. the most impressive part of ume is the fact that they were able to change my opinion on certain fish! based on past experiences, i was under the impression that i was not a fan of madai, but the madai at ume was so tender and clean. aside from the sushi, the soup and drinks were also excellent! the soup had a rich mushroom and bomito flavor, my boyfriend was flabbergasted with how fast i drank it all. the yuzu cucumber matcha was so refreshing! in addition, service, impeccable. so professional yet personable. silvia/syliva (caught their name, not how to spell it) absolute angel. explained everything so well, and was so conscientious. i had a soy milk allergy and she came over and made sure everything was okay for a complimentary birthday dessert (which was also delicious) such a special place, and we are seriously considering also implementing the same dining style in our apartment when we get home. so happy to spend a birthday here :) (sylvia/silvia, i hope u get a raise u were amazing)
Beautifully designed, but not too overly pretentious, Ume
Beautifully designed, but not too overly pretentious, Ume serves intricately built sushi sets that fit in contemporary art museums. The interior is adorable, with guests having to take their shoes off at the entrance much like entering a traditional Japanese home. The "outdoor" seating area where we were situated was completely enclosed with greenery dotted here and there. Service was top notch, as expected at these fancier places, as our waitstaff made sure everything was up to par - extra salt, water, etc. while not being too constantly distracting. The main star of the show was their signature set that came with 12 beautifully crafted sushi pieces, rice, miso soup, and an assortment of salt accompaniments. The flavors of each piece was so varied and interesting, especially having to figure out which salt paired with what was a bit overwhelming at first. However, when I leaned more into how I wanted to eat the sushi, then it was a lot more of a comforting experience. This is a great place for an intimate dates with very picturesque food!
Must visit! Great and high quality fish.
The best ambiance and service. Desserts are a must try as well.
Ume is literally a dream.
This is one of the best dining experiences I've had in NYC and I cannot recommend enough. Everything is so meticulously thought out here, from the initial entrance (where you're asked to wash your hands and take off your shoes) to the food itself. The service is incredible and the ambiance is amazing -- nobody would ever be able to guess they're in Williamsburg, instead of Japan. The food, in my opinion, is where Ume really shines. 12 pieces of sushi for $78 might be expensive anywhere else, but it's an absolute steal in NYC for the quality alone. Each piece of fish is so well prepared, and arranged in a beautiful way. My favorite was either the scallop or the salmon, but literally everything I ate was delicious. My favorite part of the meal, though, were the different sauce / salt pairings they give you. This absolutely made the meal, and is such a unique and lovely take that I haven't seen anywhere else. Essentially, Ume curates different wasabis, sauces, and salts from around the world (we had salts from places like Iceland and South Africa!). They provide a pairing guide as well, although you don't necessarily need to follow that. You're definitely encouraged to play around with what you like best! TLDR: Ume is 110% worth it. Go for the food, stay for the service / ambiance. Truly can't recommend this place enough.

It was my first time trying omakase and this experience was wonderful! Vibes 10/10: When you first walk in, you ring a doorbell and a server will come out and explain that you have to take off your shoes and wash your hands before you enter. Our table was in the garden and it was so pretty. It is a little bit chilly if you go in the winter but the heater is blasting and they have fleece blankets for each table. Food 10/10: The menu was quite helpful and all of the fish was delicious. I loved how I got the freedom to choose the sauce for the fish and got to experiment with a lot of flavors. The soup was so good too! Service 9/10: Docking it to 4/5 stars because of the service. I very much understood that the seating times were strict. My friend arrived 10 min later than I did and was not able to be seated until she arrived (which is standard at most restaurants). I was just confused as to why our food came out very slow though. We probably only had about 45 minutes to eat before we got kicked out.
A true enjoyable cultural experience.
Upon entering you are greeted and asked to remove your shoes and wash your hands. You are then escorted to your table to eat as you sit on cushiony floor pillows. The presentation of the de-constructed Omakase is beautifully thought out and is accompanied by an array of salts and wasabi. Along with the fish you are given soup and seaweed wrappers letting you choose to wrap or not. In addition to the Sushi Set we ordered the Everything Don dish and Tokubetsu Junmai Souden Sake to drink. If you enjoy sweet sake this is the perfect one. The service was seamless with our waiter guiding us thru the different flavors. It's such a wonderful experience but be sure to be on time because seatings are very close together.

Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
