The real trattoria experience
This is a very good place to enjoy true Italian food. What you get is top ingredients and tasty food. We try the cannoli meet that was very good. I would prefer a little more spicy but is a matter of taste and I ask for hot sauce. Also the pasta pomodoro Was very good, there’s nothing special in this dish except the quality of the pasta and tomato that was delivered. The staff was very kind and they have a good selection of wines. I don’t give 5 stars only because I already have better experiences for less money, NY is truly expensive and I bealive the rating should be in line with our experience but if I had to qualify just for NY it would be 5 stars. Overall is a solid 4 stars. Truly recommend

Good restaurant with a few drawbacks. The restaurant is recommended by the Michelin Guide (no star). I can't quite understand this. The calamari friti and the homemade papardelle with oxtail ragout tasted good, but not outstanding. The ragout lacked a bit of depth. In Germany, no Michelin recommendation would have been given. The restaurant is very poorly lit and incredibly loud, so that even two people can hardly have a conversation. We would visit the restaurant again.

Simple, efficient, intimate, quiet, good atmosphere, nice decor, good wine, very tasty food and very good service. Nothing exceptional but everything was "right" and well done. Most of the time, we don't need more than this.... And this not easy to find. They did it 10/10 Thank you.

Restaurant on 28th Street, very easy to reach both due to the adjacent subway station and its proximity to Times Square (reachable with a comfortable walk across Broadway). Perfect dishes, nothing to envy of an Italian restaurant, with prices in line for the city (€25 for pasta with tomato sauce and the same for pasta and beans). Truly a good solution for those who want to be on the safe side.

We found this Italian trattoria after visiting the Empire State Building. Very kind staff, we ordered homemade spaghettoni with tomato sauce. Good choice! Pasta al dente and sauce well made, I never expected it here. Wide choice of Italian bitters too. Sometimes I struggle to find the bitterness of the boss in Italy but here it is 😍 recommended

We reserved a table the same day. The staff is warm and welcoming. My wife had the Brazino which was excellent. I had the Lasagna which was a little heavy. I enjoyed my meal. I would eat here again

We were served by a number of friendly, helpful servers. Our salad, pasta and dessert choices were excellent and cheerfully split as we requested. The atmosphere was cozy and the noise level low.

A real Italian restaurant in NYC. The waiter was very kind and offered us some dishes off the menu. Pasta cooked al dente, as we Italians like it, generous and tasty portions. Obviously the bill reflects New York standards, so it was high, but it fits!

Superb cuisine with lots of bang for the buck even if it's not cheap. Well-chosen wine list with helpful expertise matching exotic labels with menu offerings. There's a nice vibe here, waitstaff and front team seem to be happy there.

Wonderful birthday lunch with my granddaughter - wanted a special restaurant to celebrate this birthday. Took the train from Providence to meet her and she picked this restaurant. Wonderful choice! Mauro, our server, was so professional and so wonderful I can't thank him enough for making this day special. the food was wonderful - the service was even better. Go there - you will be so happy you did.

Stumbled on this place a few blocks from my hotel on a rainy evening. Had dinner and wine at the bar and immediately felt comfortable and well taken care of. Nice wine list and menu, with recommendations from a low key and friendly bartender. Had the house made rigatoni with seared octopus and a spicy red sauce - outstanding! Excellent, can’t wait to go back.

Called in on our last night of the holiday without a reservation to a warm welcome. Loved the buzz and decor in the restaurant. Service was excellent. Good choice on the menu - yes it was on the more pricey side but we knew that going in. Food was hot and delicious. Enjoyed our meal 😊
Be the first to ReplyFood ok but be ready to spend time and money
The dishes are solid Italian fare - pasta made on the premises and cooked al dente. Nice selection of wines, also by the glass. Service has potential to improve: food arrived promptly, but settling the bill took ages. Not good. Don‘t expect much change from $200 for two, esp. when having wine and/or starter or dessert - high prices reflect the central location.

Our family of 3 made online reservations for dinner. All the staff and servers were extremely welcoming and friendly! Fresh bread and oil on the table, a knowledgeable server helped with explaining dinner menu selections. I had dietary restrictions to adhere to, and they followed my request perfectly! I was appreciative. Mushroom appetizers, meatballs were delicious! Squid ink home made pasta was a delicacy and amazing! Branzino fish was perfection. We saved room for dessert- ordered cannoli of course, and the Italian cake was delicious with expresso! A 5 * experience! We will be back. !
Be the first to ReplyExpensive however food and service excellent
Visited with a family party of 7 this evening. Food and service excellent however the price charged for a local restaurant with the addition of local tax 10% and a 20% service is not particularly great value for money. Great food but it’s only pizza at the end of the day! Rated average given unrealistic prices with gratuity and taxes

A treat of a meal. Food utterly delicious, great drinks and impeccable service and decor. Thoroughly recommend if you’re looking for somewhere special to eat not far from the Empire State Building.

Delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere for a solo female which is not always the case. Attraction ambience too.
A staple for good Italian food in a warm ambiance A+++
Great Italian (and Sardinian!) good. Smooth, cool ambiance, always warm and friendly. Great cocktails and desserts! A staple. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal, but very few diners
We had dinner on a Monday evening at the end of the fourth of July weekend. There were only four tables occupied while we were there, which was quite surprising. The food and cocktails were excellent - housemade pasta and tasty sauces. Service was attentive and helpful in chosing between dishes.
Be the first to ReplyNot true italian. Costly
Pesto spaghetti overcooked. I really don't know why it's so difficulyt for american restaurants to understand that pasta must be served "al dente". You need just to take off pasta 1 minute earlier than the usual. No need to be a great chef.
So i paid Pesto spaghetti 20 dollars. LOL.
Friday Night Fare
This quaint family owned and run restaurant was the perfect end to a day in the city. With an early reservation - 6:00PM - we began with a cocktail - I had the Barbarossa which was delicious. For an appetizer we settled on the fried fungi, which were scrumptious. We split the Pizza San Daniele - which was perfect when complimented with the Rughetta e Parmigiano insulate. Within our party we also feasted on one of the dinner specials - salmon, while another had the Gnocchi di Ricotta di bufala al ragu di vitello and finally the linguine alle vongole veraci e vermentino. Each was different and delicious in its own way. We topped the meal off with an order of tiramisu with five spoons. It was light yet filling - a wonderful finale to a delightful meal. Service was excellent. I will return when we’re back in the area.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a last minute choice
This was a last minute choice and we were very happy. Our hostess was warm and pleasant and our server Francesco was outstanding. Appetizers were very tasty and our mains were excellent suggestions Pappardelle and oxtail , ravioli with stuffing. Chianti was beautiful and desert was yummy.

We came across Ulivo by accident, and we weren't disappointed. It feels like you've walked into Italy. All the dishes we ordered were tasty and obviously made fresh. The server was friendly and efficient, offering recommendations from the menu. We will definately be back!
