My wife is Filipino and it's hard to find good, authentic
My wife is Filipino and it's hard to find good, authentic Filipino cuisine outside of NYC. But Tropical Hut has it. We stopped by to get a quick bite to eat, but the food was so good we bought a bunch of stuff to bring home. Excellent Longanisa and Tocino, Really good Pork BBQ, great garlic rice, Dinaguan (my wife really liked it) and really succulent, rich, crispy Lechon. Really, really good. A bonus is it's also a small grocery. We'll be back for sure.

We stopped here for lunch as our halfway point between Boston and Mt. Laurel, NJ. My bf and I shared a combo meal with rice, diniguan, and beef caldereta. Dinuguan: the cooked pork blood was fresh with lean pork meat without any unwanted fat that you'll find in a typical turo-turo restaurant in California. Seasoning and vinegar was on point with just the right tanginess. NOT GREASY!!! Beef Caldereta was divine and was not greasy at all. I've noticed that all their dishes were not greasy at all even those dishes that were cooked with coconut milk. Espasol and buko pie were great dessert selections as well. Lastly, the men's restroom was clean.

This is my go to place whenever I'm craving for something. Service is fast. They have the turo-turo (point-point) system. If you don't know the name of the dish, you can just simply point at it

Good choice of Filipino dishes which you can buy through their combo meals or per container. A corner is designated for a mini-grocery but mostly for snacks and condiments. They also do catering or you can order by tray. So happy with this place because it so conveniently close (Spring Valley-Nanuet), instead of heading to another Filipino place along Rt 304/Bardonia.

I was so happy to find a filipino restaurant/grocery spot in Rockland County. Very authentic food just like my family would make growing up. Not only can you get a really tasty meal but you can also pick up all your favorite snack and frozen goodies to take home. I stopped by to pick up sky-flakes and a plate of lechon kawali w/ garlic rice. I'll definitely be coming back!

Everything about Tropical Hut makes you feel at home. The people and owner are very sweet people that treat you with kindness from the heart. Outstanding Filipino restaurant. Come to Tropical Hut!

I enjoyed the food here very much, and I'm glad to see novel cuisine options in Spring Valley. The opening of a new unique restaurants is indicative of progress. My "beef" with this place is that I wasn't sure exactly what I was eating - hence why I don't love buffets. I'm pretty sure I was eating beef, and I was also slightly bothered that there were no veggie options to choose from; I had to choose two types of beef and was given a huge side of rice. The decor is very festive, and I felt that the staff were trying their best to be helpful. Will most likely return - but not for the lunch buffet.

Wish they use less plastics for dine in but what do I know right. This place is perfectly located on our way to Costco and parking never issue. Also with the liquor shop next door, you can get a quick bite here after all the shopping. We wanted to come here for a while now since we moved upstate partially. After being sick of Costco hot dog for a meal, we decided to drop in here for a quick snack. The noodle is the must here. You can get a meal combo with a drink for around $10. There are so so much snack. If you are Filipino, it's like a candy store here. They have so many dishes to choose from and that will require at least 10+ visits to eat them all. Space is reasonably spacious. I think they can arrange the seats and shelves better than it is at the moment. The decor can use some updating.

My husband and I were SO thrilled to find this Filipino restaurant in Spring Valley. Filipino cuisine can feel like a rarity in this area unless you cross the bridge to NJ, so we tried almost every dish when we walked in. We even bought some groceries in their sari-sari-styled entrance. All of it was superb! We loved it so much that we catered Tropical Hut for our wedding rehearsal dinner. Our guests still rave about the lumpia and sisig -- and so do we.

The food is delicious and the service is great. You have lots of choices waiting right as you come in. Next time I visit here I'll sit down and eat. Before I left I also got some desserts to take home with me. When around here, stop by you won't regret it.

OMG first time trying Filipino food and this place made my tummy very happy! Love everything here! Taste amazing and love the menus! Pork with coconut milk was my favorite. All the meat dishes are amazing and melted in your mouth. Ended it with Halo Halo, the famous Filipino dessert! I am so happy I found this place!
Be the first to ReplyFilipino food is good.
They have a variety everyday. They have more specials on the weekend. I just don't get the $1 charge for the container for the soup to go... Good thing I was watching the lady ring me up... she even charged me $10 for it... that's when I found out about the fee for the plastic container
Be the first to ReplyFood was tasty but beef was really fatty and all the food
Food was tasty but beef was really fatty and all the food in the hear trays was so lukewarm, I don't know if it would be considered safe. I'd give them another chance because I like supporting local mom and pop eateries. They also have a grocery store for Filipino products. Next time I'd order off the menu instead of from heat trays. The desserts look tasty.

We always drove past this place and we decided to go in and try it. Tropical Hut showcases Filipino classics and comfort food. I felt like we took a dive into the Philippines and were dining in someone's house the way they make it with handed down family recipes. The platters we ordered were the rice + 2 meat (chicken, pork, beef of varying styles) and they were about $8 or so each. The portions were very generous and the flavors were out of this world!

Hellloooo Halo-Halo! They do it right here with crushed ice, evaporated milk, ube, sweet beans, sugar palm kaong, jackfruit strips, nata de coco gelatin, ice cream and flan. So, so good. Nothing takes you back like a nostalgic sugar rush from the happy snacks of childhood. If the ice cream was Ube flavor, this dessert would be perfect and I'd be 5 years old again.
