Tripea Madrid Reviews from The Last Year
Barracks treatment
If you are addicted to 'tiger's milk' and enjoy barracks treatment, Tripea is your tabuco. While they were 'feeding' us, I remembered "The City and the Dogs" by the Marquis of Vargas-Llosa, whom I don't see eating here. Rigid hours, killer stools, an elusive wine list, being left with a half-baked bill for dessert, is the price you have to pay for a 60-euro menu that, nobility obliges, is quite delicious. The Vallehermoso market, where Tripea is located, is in decline. Almost everything empty, half abandoned, it seems obvious that the Tripea boom has its days numbered
On the way to the star
Roberto Martinez, a top chef, triumphs with his Nikkei cuisine, undoubtedly heading towards a Michelin star. Their mussel ceviche is simply spectacular, always standing out for its freshness and exceptional flavor. A true culinary genius who delights the most demanding palates with every dish he creates. An unforgettable gastronomic experience on every visit!
Overrated
Overrated. It is not a negative review, since the food is average, but it is by no means worthy of such great reviews. No dish stands out from the average. On the t-shirts it says: "Come and Flipa" Not at all.
Peruvian Asian Tapas with a very distinctive flavor!!
Peruvian/Asia meets tapas at a high top shared table, very few places, so reserve!! Chef Roberto Martinez really livens up his flavorful dishes, it’s a set menu, small plates but so delicious! Oysters, ceviche’s, dumplings, beef cheeks and a wonderfully revisited rice pudding. Definitely worth a stop at this cute market!!
Worth trying but not more than once
Fusion dinner with fixed menu. Apart from the dessert which they could easily avoid, all the dishes were excellent. Unfortunately, the wine list is very limited and offers unknown wines. We tried one and it was a disappointment. Sin. You may like the setting inside the market or not - personal tastes - but I don't find it suitable for a place that wants to offer itself in the high end. However it is worth a visit at least once!
“Eat and be amazed”
The best food stall in a market in Madrid offers an incredible tasting menu with authentic flavors and a unique gastronomic experience
Very rich menu, horrible music
Tripea serves a menu of 8 dishes plus 2 for an extra 15 euros. In general we liked it a lot. It costs 50 euros for the base. We left quite full. The atmosphere is a continuous table with 16 seats. It looks like a meal with friends. And now the but, is it really necessary to play reggaeton at full volume??? What horrible music! Fix that...
A single quality menu
It has only one menu and it is actually quite delicious. They have a high table for all diners, except for a low one for when there are four people.
A Michelin-starred meal at the highest level with culinary delights and flavors from Peru to Southeast Asia in Spanish style
• Ambience: 4/5 • Service: 5/5 • Starter: 4/5 | 5/5 • Main course: 5/5 | 5/5 | 5/5 | 4/5 • Dessert: 4/5 = Conclusion & price-performance ratio: 4.6 • Ambience: 4/5 The “Mercado de Vallehermos” market hall, built in 1930, is one of the oldest market halls in Madrid. Unfortunately, it is not actually the prettiest market hall. Regardless of this, the restaurant we ate in today looks comparatively modern. At first glance, it doesn't look like a Michelin-star restaurant, but that's not what matters in the end, it's all about the taste. The tables are all stylishly set, with modern crockery and cutlery. The water carafes in particular made us smile slightly. • Service: 5/5 We were asked again beforehand whether we had any allergies or intolerances, which I found very professional. The staff were extremely friendly and well trained. For each course, we were given detailed information in fluent English about what we were being served. When I asked again, everything was even explained to me in writing. • Starter: 4/5 | 5/5 As I have now found out again, the starters were: 1. Candied and fried artichoke, peanut sauce, Bearnesa Huacatay, cecina, pickled red onion, sansho pepper and lime 2. Ceviche tuna “Carretillero” in acevichado gazpachuelo, calamar chicharron, roasted sweet potato, shallot, shisho and anticuched oil The second course was my absolute highlight. It is impossible to describe - it was fantastic! • Main course: 5/5 | 5/5 | 5/5 | 4/5 Here too, I was told in detail what exactly it was: 3. Grilled octopus “Tiger Milk Parmesan cheese, pine nuts and Botija olives”, Thai basil pesto, crispy quinoa 4. Hot ceviche mussels in the wok “The classic tripea”, Leche de Tigre with Aji Amarillo, noodles, panko breadcrumbs and chili, Lapsang Souchong black tea, red onion, dill 5. Siumai filled with bacon and cheek, Kam Lu sauce with passion fruit, mint, fried shallot in combination with home-cooked Bao filled with grilled pork fillet, Rocoto cream, fried egg, quail egg and seasoned potato chips 6. Steamed and smoked cheek in bay leaf, Tom Yum soup reduction, pure roasted celery, pickled carrot, roasted Hoisin pears, sugared peanuts, 5 Chinese spices The fourth and even more so the fifth course really convinced me. These filled dumplings were incredibly delicious and my personal highlight. • Dessert: 4/5 The dessert unfortunately didn't suit my personal taste, but it wasn't bad anyway. This is: 7. Creamy rice pudding with coconut milk, chicha morada, balsamic vinegar, blueberries, lotus biscuit, kumquat candy, crispy rice, beet powder The taste reminded me a lot of a mixture of the typical rice cakes and rice pudding. = Conclusion & value for money: 4.6/5 You pay around 50.00 euros for all seven courses, drinks are of course on top. My personal recommendation here is the "Tripi Sour" cocktail for 8.50 euros. I think the price for everything is more than reasonable for such a variety of dishes. The portions are smaller, of course, but they are completely filling. It is important to enjoy the food slowly. The menus change every six months, which is why it is never boring here. It is also important to mention that you should definitely make a reservation as soon as possible. There are only around 20 places available and they were all booked up on a Wednesday lunchtime. It will certainly be no different at the weekends. Afterwards, I was able to take a nice souvenir photo with the boss and the whole crew. I have never done that before - it was a very special experience for me. I will definitely be happy to stop by again on my next visit to Madrid. Many thanks to the whole team!
Upset…
We went to Tripea with quite high expectations… and the experience disappointed us. The food was delicious, but very uniform, too much so. We started with some dry artichokes with hardly any flavor; Then three delicious ceviches although they seemed the same with three different presentations, with hardly any variation in flavor. The same thing happened to us with the meat: the three dishes had a very uniform flavor with hardly any differences between them. And the dessert, also delicious, was visually the same as the previous dishes, even the flavors were reminiscent of the previous dishes. The worst: the chef. His explanations when leaving the dishes were bad, he conveyed boredom and lacked detail and interest. The rest of the restaurant's employees explained the dishes with more passion and detail. In short, a disappointing experience, not to be repeated.
Brilliant
Outstanding experience. Very good food. Great value for the price. 100% recommended. The menu consists of 8 dishes and some more can be added.
Imaginative food, tremendously uncomfortable place
It is in the Vallehermoso market, but that does not mean that the high, long table at which the 16 diners who eat at once sit cannot be a little more comfortable. As simple as putting a bar on the table to support your feet and placing chairs with greater lumbar support. The meal is long - two hours at least - and at the end people touch their waists... Regarding the menu, it is very good. Some things - the ceviche sauces - are a little salty but they are good. Everything rich. Maybe too much. The dessert, original, like everything. It's interesting and not expensive. A menu of 8 courses for 50 euros is a luxury. Another issue that can be easily improved: the water should be colder… In any case, the warm water and the chairs are worth it… because everything is good!
