Toro Boston Reviews from The Last Year
Really great food, good atmosphere, fun menu and good
Really great food, good atmosphere, fun menu and good service . My only critique would be that they should maybe remove a two top to make some more room, we had to move our table to get in/out of the booth. Aside from that, it was great!
I had impeccable service at the bar.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff who were more than willing to make recommendations. I was dining alone which is tough with tapas, so wish I could have tried more dishes but I was stuffed after the dates and grilled octopus! Highly recommend!
Top Top Tapas
We went with some local friends who have been multiple times and it was possibly the best Tapas I have had. Amazing knowledgeable staff who could not enough to help. Food sensational. So much flavour. We loved it.
Toros got to be one of my favorite restaurants in Boston.
This was one of my first restaurants I went to when I moved to Boston 3 years ago and it holds up year after year. The food is delicious. The oysters are a must and so is the pork steak, mushrooms, and gambas. The bravas bomb is the most iconic. The service was great even in a torrential downpour our server still got us our food and even gave us complimentary duck wings for the weather and they were absolutely delicious . Located in the South End this restaurant is a great vibe and has great ambiance.
Ok
Good service. I must start by a positive, service (Matthew) was great, the terrace was nice. Had the Bone marrow, ternera tartar, chorizo, vieiras, fig and mojama. Bone marrow was a bit too sweet, mojama was really good, tartar was great, chorizo not so much, more a sausage than a Spanish chorizo. Good wine list, all and all not enough to come again…honestly, not Spanish enough.
My experience at Toro was mixed.
Bonnie was the rudest and most condescending manager I've encountered. Her attitude detracted from an otherwise very good restaurant. While everything tasted good, especially the foie gras, but I wished the portions were larger given the price points.
Tried this place out.
Have to say I was disappointed with a few things. First of all the manager Bonnie is extremely rude. This type of person should not be working in any hospitality type job. The food is very good but the prices are unreasonable compared to the sizes of the plates. The portions are EXTREMELY SMALL. We ordered many dishes and left the place hungry with a hefty bill. If you like getting ripped off give it a try. Otherwise there are plenty of better options. Oh and the place is very tight, it feels like you're having dinner with the tables that are next you. Kind of kills the mood.
Small portions, high prices, meh execution
We ordered classic tapas-- we could. not believe how small the portions were for the prize. Cerdo Iberico was great-- GTOTM drink was nice--after that not so good-- bread was served in small portions so we had to keep asking for refills, the tortilla was so salty it was indedible [yet they charged us for it], the churros were greasy and the so called chocolate tasted like Hershey's drizzle... also first restaurant in years that did not check for allergies...

Not sure why this place has such good reviews, I was very underwhelmed when dining here. Although the presentation of each dish was nice, I can't say that there was any dish that had a wow factor. Except for the empanada, most of the dishes lacked flavor. And the quantity of some of the items was not worth the price, given the lack of flavor. The service was good, and the place was packed, but there are much tastier places to eat in Boston.
Overall the food and drinks were good but the loud and
Overall the food and drinks were good but the loud and crowded atmosphere unfortunately detracted from my enjoyment. Food: All the dishes were very tasty albeit on the pricey side. The octopus was our favorite, it was super tender and went perfectly with the accompaniments. The tuna was very refreshing but a disappointment considering the price tag. Service: The waiter was attentive and gave great recommendations. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is the primary complaint about the dinner. It feels much more like a crowded bar with the music and bumping shoulders, which is a shame considering the premium price of the food. We were so packed that the kind waiter had to pull out our table in order to access the inner seat. It was hard even to hold conversations without having to repeat every sentence. It just feels mismatched if you were drawn to the restaurant by the food.
Fantastic food, service and ambiance at Toro! Great
Fantastic food, service and ambiance at Toro! Great vegetarian dishes, we especially loved the paella with tofu and the carrots. The eggplant and the goat cheese were also good.
Fantastic.
We had so many dishes and everything was so good. The mushroom and potatoes were among my favorites. Can't go wrong with churros as a sweet option. The place itself was smaller than I initially thought but it made for a super nice dinner ambiance. This is a tapas place worth trying out! You can't go wrong!

Food: Asado was so good - bone marrow was small but delicious. I loved with having with bread. It had different flavors every time I had it and they were equally delicious. Vegan paella was not too bad. Would've enjoyed more if there was more seasoning. The rice bottom was all burnt too much that I couldn't enjoy it. I usually like the bottom layer as it's crispy but this time it wasn't edible. Other than that, food was nice, staffs were friendly. The restaurant is very crowded and packed with people as it is really popular.
A Hidden Gem
Last night, I stumbled upon Toro on Washington Street while celebrating my daughter's birthday, and what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! This tapas bar exudes style and charm. The food was simply amazing, the drinks were top-notch, and the ambiance was truly spectacular. However, what truly made the evening memorable was the impeccable service we received, particularly from our server, Joey, who went above and beyond to make my daughter's birthday special. The only downside was the parking situation, which is understandable given the nature of the area. So, plan accordingly as finding parking can be a bit of a challenge. Nevertheless, this minor inconvenience doesn't overshadow the overall fantastic experience at Toro. Despite the distance from my home, I'm already planning to return with my spouse and friends because Toro is undeniably worth the trip.
Worst Boston experience
My partner made a reservation two weeks ago to have dinner at 7:30. We showed up early to see if perhaps we could have dinner earlier. We were told no, and to come back at 7:30. We paid for an Uber to come and drop us off at the restaurant. Upon arrival the host claimed that we did not, “confirm our reservation” despite us stating that we would return at 7:30 because we did not cancel our online reservation. Another staff member came to speak with us and was extremely rude. The hostess became defensive and lied that we had not confirmed anything with her. This place could have accommodated our reservation as for we had no special requests. I will never return and I hope you all consider twice before booking a reservation at a restaurant that DOES NOT honor an online booking system. Try many other places, except this one. I rate this -100/10 on customer service.
Avoid at all costs if you value your time and sanity - do not go to toro!!!
The service was abysmal, with staff members had a level of incompetence and rude behavior that was truly astonishing. We were left feeling neglected and frustrated, ultimately leading us to end our dinner plans and leave early. It's a shame that such a renowned establishment failed so miserably in providing even basic hospitality. Avoid at all costs if you value your time and sanity - do not go to toro!!!!!!
The food is always great and the ambience is fun and lively.
It's likely going to be full, leaving you with quite a wait. However, the host staff makes every effort to get you seated as quickly and easily as possible. The bartenders are knowledgeable and patient. It's not ideal for groups, because space is so limited however, It's a great Saturday evening date spot if you're looking for something that feels hip and fun.
It's not even one star.
Literally the worst place I've ever been to. The front desk and waiters were so rude. And disrespectful. Do not ever go to this place ever.
Toro is dark, loud, and intimate.
The music is blasting fun bops, but the tables are incredibly close together. For a dinner for 2 at 7pm on a Saturday, we were gently ushered out around the two hour mark. While I understand that they are turning tables, it would have been nice to have a warning when I made the reservation. Food was good but not amazing. Brussels sprouts were undercooked. For a shellfish allergy, the only seafood options were two raw tuna dishes since the cod croquettes were already sold out. Roasted eggplant was solid. For someone who doesn't eat red meat, there was no token chicken dish on the menu either. Not docking stars for the menu, but more flagging it for others. Would probably just go to Barcelona the next time I'm craving tapas instead of dealing with the chaos of getting a table at Toro.
burrata 3.
5/5 - burrata with some sort of citrus fruit? it was pretty good gambas al ajillo 4/5 - grilled really well and has good flavor pulpo a la plantxa 4/5 - octopus cooked really, really well valencia paella 3/5 - not too much flavor, but decent sangria 3/5 Spanish tapas that are pretty good! I'm honestly not sure if Barcelona is better than here. Toro is a bit smaller inside, but similar vibes as Barcelona as it is a bit dark and on the louder side. Nothing overly loud or dark though. Service was very good. Quick to take away plates and good timing in between plates. We had made a reservation ahead of time and had no issues once arriving at the restaurant. For parking, there are plenty of metered spots outside of the restaurant.
It was ok.
I had gone to Barcelona a week before (another tapas restaurant nearby) and it was WAY cheaper with very comparable food and drinks. Basically got the same amount of dishes/# of drinks and toro was almost double the money with tip. Very small and weird all the bar seats were reserved, no room for walk-ins or anyone to wait. The servers also cleared dishes and drinks too quickly when we weren't even done with them etc. I like to load my sauces on, don't steal my plate with it until I'm done. Overall probably wouldn't be back, nothing special.

I stopped into this place on a whim and boy am I glad that I did. Very small place with a TON of flavor. The tostadas with the tuna was insane. Flavorful and fresh and the cilantro pulls the whole thing together. The burrata and radish dish was next and I was pleasantly surprised. Radish can be so bitter, but the burrata mellows it nicely. The nuts and citrus also add a sweet quality that makes this cold dish sing. Next was the flank steak. WOW! I wasn't expecting the punch of flavor this steak had. The star here was absolutely the sauce that accompanies the well seasoned steak. Lastly, the house sent over the deviled eggs. I'm not a big fan of anchovies, but they went well with the eggs and eventually took a back seat to the rest of the flavors of the dish. In addition to great food, the place is very well kept and the staff is incredibly accommodating and amazing. My server was wonderful making great recommendations and providing just enough attention without being bothersome. Overall, Toro was a home run for me. I'm looking forward to getting back there for another great Friday evening. But MAKE RESERVATIONS! It gets packed very fast!

Really enjoyed my trip to Toro! Came with a group of 4 and were able to split a bunch of small plates. The patatas bravas, goat cheese, and empanadas were definitely the highlights for me!! Delicious. We also got the paella, and sliders as well as a pitcher of sangria. My only complaint is that everything was super expensive, but it's such a popular spot so I do get why!

The food was fantastic! Some of the best tapas we've ever had. Our favorites were the filete ibérico and the cachete de res. The deviled eggs are underrated and delicious! Service was very friendly and fast. It has a good ambiance too- my only complaint is that it was a little too dark and a little too loud. Otherwise, we loved it!
spectacular.
went for birthday dinner and they gave a special birthday menu - great vibe great food great drinks great atmosphere and more affordable than anticipated
This was a good restaurant/bar.
The food felt authentic and the paella was so good! I'd go bar. The ambiance was great in the evening, in terms of lighting.
Great food and atmosphere, a little too tight at the bar
Great atmosphere-very much like similar places in Europe-very friendly and knowledgeable bartenders on food and drink. The Gambas al Ajillo (garlic shrimp) was the best I have had anywhere-get extra bread to soak up the sauce (the bread was also excellent). The Iberico pork flank steak was also stellar-same chef for both-a young kid-clearly a talent. Loved the burrata with citrus, radish and pepitas. The Bodegas Ugabe Rose I believe from the Basque region was superb-dry w a little fizz. Only complaint is that there should be one less seat at the bar-both of us were bumping elbows w our neighbors and had the feel of being in the center seat on a plane. Looked like the communal table or the seats at the bar near the window. Lives up to its reputation.
Wow!!!
Phenomenal!!! Incredible!! Top 10 Tapas!! Service, food, drink. All on point! We'll be back!! Staff was the best. Don't change a thing!!
Take me to Espana! Amazing Spanish tapas at this South End restaurant.
Take me back to Espana! Fantastic tapas and attentive waitstaff at this Spanish restaurant in the South End. The tomato pizza was good. The octopus, empanadas and potatoes were flavorful and very good. The beef sliders were very good! All tapas were cooked to perfection! The churros and chocolate sauce were excellent! The bird in/on the fire drink had a kick to it and was really good! We will return to this restaurant! Amazing food and atmosphere at this Spanish restaurant!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
