Bummer
Our party was easily and smoothly seated. Apps and drinks came promptly. Bread and butter were very good as was the view. Full stop. Two of us ordered and were very disappointed with the crab cioppino (the most expensive thing on the menu). Did not taste fresh, odd texture to the seafood bits and the flavor was MIA. I lived on the Central and North coasts for many years and I appreciate good cioppino. This wasn't it. Another ordered crab cakes and they were mostly filler. She did not finish the meal. Another ordered steak medium rare and it was very overdone. And so on. Will not be returning.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing food
We came hungry, but dinner was a disappointment. My crispy fried chicken was overcooked and the pieces were boney and seemed to be mostly breading. The salad was only lettuce and grated carrots with a tasteless dressing. My husband's fish and chips had cold french fries and only OK fish. The view is great, but we wouldn't go again.

My husband and I both ordered off the specials. He had the Halibut which he really liked and I had a Ceasar Salad with Petite Salmon. We also had the Prawn Cocktail, which was very good ( no cilantro or onions which pleased my husband).
Be the first to ReplyCharm of the 80s with mass processing and unfriendly service
The most unfriendly barkeeper in over 20 years in the USA, living, vacationing and business trips. Loud, rude and completely unmotivated. Then he wanted my PIN (refused) because he was too lazy to go to a machine where I could enter it myself and said I was complicated. Since the restaurant has mediocre reviews, we didn't go there for dinner, what luck. They really need to do something for their image, the whole thing seems stuck in the 80s
Be the first to ReplyWould not recommend if expecting high quality food and service
First off, the ONLY reason to go here is for nostalgia, if you are expecting any semblance of true fish house food you'd be better off buying fish sticks from Costco and eating in, you'd enjoy the service and food much better. It's not just adequate food, it was also horrible customer service. With that said... We had a group of 10, all family getting together, which was important and meaningful as it doesn't happen often enough. Signed in as group of ten, walked in together but when the staff went to seat us they put us at 2 different tables that were not inviting for all to be a part of the experience, one big round one with 6 people and one little square one for 4, yes next to each other but rediculous. We were not asked ahead of time if we wanted to wait to be seated together or if sitting apart was acceptable. We had family members from San Jose and San Diego all coming together to visit for 1 day, this was not acceptable. We asked if we could all be set together, there were literally roughly 50 open tables when we were there, so it wasn't a mad rush or an impedence, the hosted seemed confused by this request, how long have they been in business? Really?! We asked if three square and rectangle tables could be pushed together that were right next to where we were being placed, with about 10 plus empty tables in the paremiter so we could sit together, she had to call over the manager, this is when it got even better. The manager, a woman, one of the rudest people I have ever encountered in the service industry came over to us, and she told us they made the 2 tables for us, and repeated it, my sister in law said that wasn't acceptable, explained we were family who hadn't seen each other in several years and we wanted to be seen together, can't we put 3 tables together? The managers response was so epic its worth a meme.. She said she couldn't put the 3 tables together because they didn't evenly match, one was square and the others were not, they didn't match. WTF, were we in sesame street?! Sdge repeated this several times putting her foot down on the topic, but literally after what seemed like 5 minutes in front of other customers she relented but not before making sure to tell us that they don't this, she will do it this time but not again, but I can assure you she won't have to worry about that at all as we will NEVER go back nor reccomend this place ever, and not just for the horrible attitude. They move the tables and we attempt to help with relocating the table settings, immediately she went attitude again and told us not to touch the place settings that they will move them. Chaos done so we sit. Waitress was pleasant, not as attentive for following up with refills and etc., but nice. The food... My husband had fish and chips, probably the worst looking fish I've seen in a while. It was dark and looked over cooked. It was adequate, mid grade overall. I had the halibut, cooked proper, moist and flakey, was supposed to have a butter sauce with capers, was more of a salty light gravy with no flavor. Salt seemed to be a cooking item on my food, i don't add salt to my food. My dish came with green beans and carrots, they were not snappy as typical for a dish like this, they were soggy but decent. I ordered the side salad for 3.50 because I didn't notice there were vegies with my dish, the side salad could fit in a coffee cup, was a few sprigs of romaine or red leaf lettuce with some shaved carrot on top then the dressing I ordered to be on the side was in the dish with the salad which actually made it even smaller. DEFINATELY not worth getting the salad in addition to any meal. So the summary is.. If you want to go there for nastalgia dont expect great food and great service, you will be happy if you get it and not disappointed if you don't. Definately will not go there again. The gift shop is neat however and worth a stop. Dissapointed over all!!

We went for take out to get soup. We bought England Clam Chowder and it was great. The atmosphere of the place was really nice with wood ceilings
Be the first to ReplyTide Wharf Restaurant, the Tide was out
We were excited to eat at the "Tide Wharf Restaurant on 835 Hwy One Bodega Bay, California. On a positive note, we didn't have to wait long to be seated and served, and this is where the positive ends. First I had to ask to have my water cup replaced, it had a nice set of lipstick lips on the cup, they were kind enough to change it and I received a fairly clean cup. We received our food, my wife ordered a hamburger and it was okay, and I ordered PRAWNS & CHIPS. When I received them they were burnt and dry and the fries seemed hours old. The waiter asked how it was, and I told him it was a terrible meal, he said okay, and never asked another question and went and got the check. Didn't offerer any thing to correct the problem and just handed me the check. It was the worst 60+ dollars I have ever spent at a restaurant. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE.

The staff were not pleasant and the food was not well prepared. The host did not smile and was like being welcomed to a funeral? We ordered fish and chips and the chips were cold. We will not return.
Be the first to ReplyDonโt queue for a window, the view from the raised seating area is just as good.
If you want a table by the window the queue can be quite long. Take a table in the raised area and the view is still very good plus you skip the long line. The server was really nice and friendly. The food was disappointing at best. My chicken was a dried lump of cardboard. The chowder was gloop with very little flavour. My drink had more ice than coke. The nicest part of the meal was the bread bun they give you at the start. The price was average (but still too much for the poor quality).
Be the first to ReplyRude staff speaking foreign language
Absolute garbage. Poor food and entire staff has major attitude starting with checkin guy who refused to seat us by window with 2 kids despite it being 4pm and restaurant half empty. Lots of smug faces and speaking in foreign language. I'd stay away from this place.

. We ordered several different items. The fried shrimp was good, but the oysters were small and the other items on the seafood platter were tasteless.

Short staffed. We were seated right away and served water and bread, but waited almost 20 minutes for a server. She apologized profusely and didnโt realize that we were in her section. Crabcakes and scallops were delicious! The vegetables were fresh and cooked and seasoned nicely. A full, beautiful plate! Pricey.
Be the first to ReplyGood choice.
Big place with plenty of parking. Some nice views of the bay. Varied menu and portions were quite generous. Crab cioppino was very good, somewhat messy, as was the clam legging. The chocolate cake was decadent.

Disappointed. We were looking forward to local sea food and the experience. The Tides Wharf did not give us that. We stopped in for a afternoon snack. Ordered the fried calamari. It was ok. Also ordered a house salad. Just lettuce and shredded carrot. That's it. What a waste. Hubby got a beer and I got a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary wasn't bad. Nothing special. Throughout the day we tried to figure out were to go for dinner but since we were staying at the Inn at The Tides across the street we ended up back at the Tides Wharf restaurant for dinner. Seated us next to a table with a loud child. So romantic! Not that much appealing seafood on menu so Hubby got a steak and I got the special. Pesto Cod. Mine was bland. I had to add salt. Cod was mushy. Vegetables were good. They have a large wine list. So I had a glass of wine. We both were not satisfied. We ended up back there in the morning because our hotel gave us coupons for Continental breakfast and 25% off if we order something else. The Continental breakfast didn't appeal to us so we ordered. I ordered a mushroom/pepper omelet. It was tasteless! There was no cheese! They should put that in the menu. Hubby got some eggs. Hash browns were so so. Again........bloody mary just ok. Do I recommend this place? NO NOTE: 2 stores in building. One is a great store for souvenirs. (Shirts, gifts) Expensive but nice. We bought us each a Bodega Bay shirt. And there is a fish market also with food items, wine, picnic items. Really nice.
Be the first to ReplyNot a Good Time
I have spent 35 years in the restaurant business so when we eat out we do so with a very critical eye. The food here, at least breakfast, is a joke. We ordered a cheese and mushroom omelette and corned beef hash and eggs. The omelette came as a mushroom and ham omelette and had to be sent back. It came back very quickly and quite overdone, dark brown. The potatoes were burnt on one side and mushy in the middle. The toast came dry, not even butter on the side. Flavor was bland. I love corned beef and hash. For $18 I figured this would be pretty good. I should have taken a picture but left my phone in the car. What came was a flattened pile of mush. No chunks of potato or anything resembling corned beef. The smallest portion I have ever seen. It actually looked and tasted like canned. One poached egg was slightly runny the other was very close to being hard boiled. Toast was dry with no butter offered. The portion size was probably worth $8 as a kids meal. I was actually embarrassed. The restaurant was clean. The employees had on matching shirts but one had a puffy jacket over the shirt and another had what looked like an old flannel shirt over hers. The manager came out at one time and directed everyone to clean the chairs. But she never walked around the room and conversed with guests. We wonโt be back. Sadly the experience was so bad, it just couldnโt be a one time occurrence. Service was lack luster with no real sense of caring.

Had seafood while watching boats and the sunset. Linguini in clam sauce was terrific. Crab cakes good too.
Be the first to ReplyShould have sent it back.
My wife and I ordered the Fish and Chips. I asked what was the fish and was told Cod - really! The fish was breaded, heavily breaded ,and detracted from the taste of the fish. The chips were old and cold. The restaurant was obviously for the tourist trade as they didn't expect you to come back. At $33 per plate it would have made Hitchcock shudder
Be the first to ReplySolid enough
The prices are kinda high in here but the views are great and the seafood-based breakfasts seemed perfectly good to us. It's like most of the wait staff are on some sort of youth training scheme, but they did the job ok.
Be the first to ReplyGood for breakfast
I ate here a few times for lunch also. The prices are reasonable and the calamari was excellent. The breakfasts portions are large-for me- and good coffee. Also a bartender that can make a not to sweet Margarita made this place worth going back to
Be the first to ReplyReincarnation of a famous restaurant
The Tides Wharf on Highway One in California lies just opposite the resort hotel the Inn at the Tides and during our stay we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner there as the restaurant at that hotel is closed at the moment. This current restaurant is part of a small shopping complex that also has a food shop and a gift shop within its walls. It was but some years ago to replace the original Tides Restaurant building that featured in Alfred Hitchcock's movie the Birds buy which was burnt down. The food there is mostly quite good. The breakfasts were good but although we had some nice meals in the evening too a couple of dishes at that sitting disappointed a bit. However the staff are all very nice, service is good and the atmosphere is nice too, particularly in the situation of sitting right next to the bay looking out of the big windows and sometimes spotting the seals that come in nearby when the tide is low in the mornings.
Be the first to ReplyTourist trap with sad food and grossly overpriced dishes
The one thing this place has going for it is the waterside location in Bodega Bay. Nice view of the bay, but not much else. Service was slow. Menu was ultra-expensive for what you actually got. $30.50 for a hot crab sandwich which was much more bread than crab. And $25.50 for the cold version which tasted like poor quality crab salad and not much of it either. Give me a break. Maybe we should have gotten a burger. Wine list was average/OK but also pricy. There are other places nearby that look far better so I'd seriously consider skipping this place.
Be the first to ReplyOk lunch on the bay
Ok lunch in Bodega bay. It is pricey and my meal was nothing special. Service was average, again nothing special. The birthday girl had never been to the area and she enjoyed her meal and the view of the water so I am thankful for that.
