Tides Wharf Snack Bar Bodega Bay Reviews from The Last Year
Bummer
Our party was easily and smoothly seated. Apps and drinks came promptly. Bread and butter were very good as was the view. Full stop. Two of us ordered and were very disappointed with the crab cioppino (the most expensive thing on the menu). Did not taste fresh, odd texture to the seafood bits and the flavor was MIA. I lived on the Central and North coasts for many years and I appreciate good cioppino. This wasn't it. Another ordered crab cakes and they were mostly filler. She did not finish the meal. Another ordered steak medium rare and it was very overdone. And so on. Will not be returning.
Disappointing food
We came hungry, but dinner was a disappointment. My crispy fried chicken was overcooked and the pieces were boney and seemed to be mostly breading. The salad was only lettuce and grated carrots with a tasteless dressing. My husband's fish and chips had cold french fries and only OK fish. The view is great, but we wouldn't go again.
49th Wedding Anniversary
My husband and I both ordered off the specials. He had the Halibut which he really liked and I had a Ceasar Salad with Petite Salmon. We also had the Prawn Cocktail, which was very good ( no cilantro or onions which pleased my husband).

Ambiance: it's not about the food! It's about the experience. The Original Tides was in the Hitchcock movie "The Birds." The 1990's remodel has several things relevant to the movie including a perpetual replaying film on a replay loop, gift shop, seafood market and more. Yes it's tourist focused; so what. Gauge your expectations accordingly. The main dinning room is super clean, bathroom as well. THE VIEW SPECTACULAR!!! Try the beer Death & Taxes if you dare. The food is okay. Recommendation: the Calamari, Lingcod fish tacos, crab salad... The service is outstanding. The Tides is, IMHO, undeserving of the poor ratings here if you set your expectations accordingly.
I really enjoyed the memorable and history.
Our dinner was good. The restaurant does get very busy I would recommend making a reservation on the weekends. The evening does have a romantic vibe. It can be get a little loud when the restaurant is full. Our breakfast was tasty and the vibe was causal and calm. The views during breakfast and brunch are beautiful. You can watch the ships in the bay and the sea life.
The view was amazing, service was good as well the food.
Nice place with other shops to visit.
Save yourself the trip and $$.
.. I had a half crab... $26.95... dry. No flavor. Just awful really. Nice view but the view does not make up the poor quality of the food! Servers were polite.

Was nervous about trying this because the reviews but very happy we decided on this restaurant! Great service and food! It was a clean restaurant with a nice view.

Food is ordinary but decided to eat here since I had a voucher for either a free continental breakfast or 25% off other breakfast items. The window seats offer a nice view of the bay. You're right on the water. Service is good; friendly wait staff.
My wife and I had breakfast there.
For the moment we were being seated we were treated like 2nd class citizens by the staff. There were plenty of window seats available and we asked for one and was told those seats were reserved for "hotel guests only." She assumed we weren't guests of the hotel without asking. The service was slow and poor and the food was average to below. Overall, it was a bad experience and put a damper on our weekend getaway to Bodega Bay. I DO NOT recommend this place for anything.
Feels like seafood Denny's.
My fish wasn't good. My wife's scallops were tough and overcooked. Prawn cocktail okay. High priced for a low quality meal, overall...
Breakfast that is supposed to be free with lodge stay was
Breakfast that is supposed to be free with lodge stay was really substandard (fruit and muffin/croissants) so naturally you just order something else off menu. Staff at breakfast not very friendly. Ate there at dinner too. Staff was much better, but crab was very skinny. Not impressive. There has to be many other places you should go foe dinner Than this place.

It's a such a shame that this place is so expensive for such terrible food. They are wasting such a great opportunity to take advantage of a beautiful location on the water where they could offer a cool bar restaurant scene with live music on certain nights and really draw in more of a locals atmosphere rather than just ripping off tourists. The service was absent minded at best and the restaurant just felt like an assisted living facility where there can't be any flavor or spice in the food for fear of upsetting the residents stomachs. ANYWHERE would be better than this place. SAVE YOUR MONEY
Absolutely dreadful.
The food quality is just the worst I could not get through 1/4 of it. $30 wasted

We had a great meal and a great experience last night at The Tides. From the moment we arrived our server, Helen, was friendly and knowledgeable. She suggested some things but allowed us time to choose what we wanted. The fettuccine pescatora was delicious and cooked well. The sun was out and we watched the ducks and a sea lion from our seat by the window. I would definitely recommend this place and we will be back.
The service here is incredible! Helen and Paul are so sweet
The service here is incredible! Helen and Paul are so sweet and treat you like family. I'd come back again just to see them! I only stayed for a few drinks but the food looked delicious. The view of the bay is also beautiful. Would definitely recommend Tides to friends! -Kathryn
This was my first time back in years and I now remember why
This was my first time back in years and I now remember why I stopped going in the first place Extremely way overpriced for mediocre food . When you order a dinner that comes with veggies and steak fries and you try to sub just the fries for a side salad you pay $3.50 more for you loose not just the fries but the veggies to . You pay $5 extra for gluten free pasta to any pasta dish $107 plus tip for fried chicken w/side salad Bowl of GF pasta W/shrimp , clams and scallops (sauce was literally like water) shrimp and scallops were like chewing rubber Bowl of clam chowder (very buttery) No Drinks but water On the plus side the lady who kept refilling our waters was great and our waiter who was also the bartender was good . Wish he would have just kept the mask off while talking to us , he had it off talking to the guy at the bar but not with us . But whatever, would have been nice to put a face to the nice guy . Only reason the Tides even got a star is because of these 2 people Looking at reviews they just do not care
What a huge disappointment! We decided to take drive to
What a huge disappointment! We decided to take drive to Bodega with cravings for a fresh local seafood lunch. We decided on The Tides Wharf restaurant because they also offered an interesting cocktail menu. I ordered the cold crab sandwich as that was my specific craving. What a letdown. The Mayonnaise mixed into the crab was so sour it overtook the crab flavor. I forced down half the sandwich and took the other half home to feed to the chickens. The leftover sandwich never made it home. Had to throw it in the garbage on our next stop in Occidental as it stunk up the car so bad. The honey ordered the fish and chips. The fries were limp and soggy and the fish was anything but fresh. He also didn't come close to eating his meal and decided it wasn't fit to even throw to the chickens. My daughter ordered the hamburger, well done. It was served very rare. They did refire her order and it was presented as she requested. Each of us ordered a different cocktail. The cocktails were just okay, and certainly not worth the price charged. In fact nothing was worth the ridiculously high prices they charged. We don't mind paying more for good quality, but nothing experienced here was of any quality. No complaints about the service, but the food was so unappealing that we are unlikely to ever return.
Whelp, gave it another try.
Hoped for a better experience but it did not come to fruition! We came in for dinner on a Friday night and expected a dining experience in the actual dining room, however we were walked over to the bar! Super tacky!! The host that greeted us was less than personable made us feel invisible as he passed us off to the bar area when there were plenty of tables in the mall n dining area. (Check the date of this posting if you want to know who was on staff that evening.). Wanting to have a wonderful evening we let all of this go and enjoyed our table in the bar. The waitress was nice and the food came out quick. With that said, I will tell you my last post talks about sub average food. And it still is. If you are from out of town and you think you are getting real seafood, you are not! Go to a different restaurant for real authentic seafood from bodega Bay.

The cafe is a good place to down a few BBQ oysters and get a quick view of the bay. The oysters were huge, which was a pleasant surprise. Also, nice selection of memorabilia from the film that put it on the map. This place is solid.
Great location with views of the bay.
Food was good and waitress was very nice and gave suggestions on what to see in the area. Highly recommend.

GREAT LOCATION! But overpriced and server seemed annoyed to take care of us. Never refilled drinks...and it was water.
Service is a 5 star.
We had breakfast and dinner here. Latte and Mocha were delicious. For dinner, husband had the scallops and I had the garden burger with a side of the veggies. Veggies were delicious. The garden burger was burned and the avocado salsa was not worth the extra money. Scallops lacked flavor. The cheesecake was really yummy. For breakfast, I had the French toast and he had eggs, toast and bacon. His breakfast was 5 stars. The French toast was 4 stars. Again, the service is excellent. It's just surprising that the dinner entrees aren't more flavorful.
Would not recommend if expecting high quality food and service
First off, the ONLY reason to go here is for nostalgia, if you are expecting any semblance of true fish house food you'd be better off buying fish sticks from Costco and eating in, you'd enjoy the service and food much better. It's not just adequate food, it was also horrible customer service. With that said... We had a group of 10, all family getting together, which was important and meaningful as it doesn't happen often enough. Signed in as group of ten, walked in together but when the staff went to seat us they put us at 2 different tables that were not inviting for all to be a part of the experience, one big round one with 6 people and one little square one for 4, yes next to each other but rediculous. We were not asked ahead of time if we wanted to wait to be seated together or if sitting apart was acceptable. We had family members from San Jose and San Diego all coming together to visit for 1 day, this was not acceptable. We asked if we could all be set together, there were literally roughly 50 open tables when we were there, so it wasn't a mad rush or an impedence, the hosted seemed confused by this request, how long have they been in business? Really?! We asked if three square and rectangle tables could be pushed together that were right next to where we were being placed, with about 10 plus empty tables in the paremiter so we could sit together, she had to call over the manager, this is when it got even better. The manager, a woman, one of the rudest people I have ever encountered in the service industry came over to us, and she told us they made the 2 tables for us, and repeated it, my sister in law said that wasn't acceptable, explained we were family who hadn't seen each other in several years and we wanted to be seen together, can't we put 3 tables together? The managers response was so epic its worth a meme.. She said she couldn't put the 3 tables together because they didn't evenly match, one was square and the others were not, they didn't match. WTF, were we in sesame street?! Sdge repeated this several times putting her foot down on the topic, but literally after what seemed like 5 minutes in front of other customers she relented but not before making sure to tell us that they don't this, she will do it this time but not again, but I can assure you she won't have to worry about that at all as we will NEVER go back nor reccomend this place ever, and not just for the horrible attitude. They move the tables and we attempt to help with relocating the table settings, immediately she went attitude again and told us not to touch the place settings that they will move them. Chaos done so we sit. Waitress was pleasant, not as attentive for following up with refills and etc., but nice. The food... My husband had fish and chips, probably the worst looking fish I've seen in a while. It was dark and looked over cooked. It was adequate, mid grade overall. I had the halibut, cooked proper, moist and flakey, was supposed to have a butter sauce with capers, was more of a salty light gravy with no flavor. Salt seemed to be a cooking item on my food, i don't add salt to my food. My dish came with green beans and carrots, they were not snappy as typical for a dish like this, they were soggy but decent. I ordered the side salad for 3.50 because I didn't notice there were vegies with my dish, the side salad could fit in a coffee cup, was a few sprigs of romaine or red leaf lettuce with some shaved carrot on top then the dressing I ordered to be on the side was in the dish with the salad which actually made it even smaller. DEFINATELY not worth getting the salad in addition to any meal. So the summary is.. If you want to go there for nastalgia dont expect great food and great service, you will be happy if you get it and not disappointed if you don't. Definately will not go there again. The gift shop is neat however and worth a stop. Dissapointed over all!!
The Tides Wharf Restaurant
We went for take out to get soup. We bought England Clam Chowder and it was great. The atmosphere of the place was really nice with wood ceilings
Tide Wharf Restaurant, the Tide was out
We were excited to eat at the "Tide Wharf Restaurant on 835 Hwy One Bodega Bay, California. On a positive note, we didn't have to wait long to be seated and served, and this is where the positive ends. First I had to ask to have my water cup replaced, it had a nice set of lipstick lips on the cup, they were kind enough to change it and I received a fairly clean cup. We received our food, my wife ordered a hamburger and it was okay, and I ordered PRAWNS & CHIPS. When I received them they were burnt and dry and the fries seemed hours old. The waiter asked how it was, and I told him it was a terrible meal, he said okay, and never asked another question and went and got the check. Didn't offerer any thing to correct the problem and just handed me the check. It was the worst 60+ dollars I have ever spent at a restaurant. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE.
Disappointed
The staff were not pleasant and the food was not well prepared. The host did not smile and was like being welcomed to a funeral? We ordered fish and chips and the chips were cold. We will not return.
Don’t queue for a window, the view from the raised seating area is just as good.
If you want a table by the window the queue can be quite long. Take a table in the raised area and the view is still very good plus you skip the long line. The server was really nice and friendly. The food was disappointing at best. My chicken was a dried lump of cardboard. The chowder was gloop with very little flavour. My drink had more ice than coke. The nicest part of the meal was the bread bun they give you at the start. The price was average (but still too much for the poor quality).
Charm of the 80s with mass processing and unfriendly service
The most unfriendly barkeeper in over 20 years in the USA, living, vacationing and business trips. Loud, rude and completely unmotivated. Then he wanted my PIN (refused) because he was too lazy to go to a machine where I could enter it myself and said I was complicated. Since the restaurant has mediocre reviews, we didn't go there for dinner, what luck. They really need to do something for their image, the whole thing seems stuck in the 80s
Rude staff speaking foreign language
Absolute garbage. Poor food and entire staff has major attitude starting with checkin guy who refused to seat us by window with 2 kids despite it being 4pm and restaurant half empty. Lots of smug faces and speaking in foreign language. I'd stay away from this place.

Unsold listings bug?

Idk if this is related to the unsold listing % rule but I have listed 6 reservations and sold 5 of them and my unsold listing percentage is ~45%. For some reason the unsold listings have not been converted into sold ones. Does this happen only after the payment is released following the booking or is it an issue that needs to be addressed?
