Check it out . Never have I ever had alpastor so tasty. The salsas are out of the world . Staff is friendlier than mother Theresa

The best California Burrito I've ever had! The food came out pretty quickly after ordering & it was awesome to see them making fresh tortillas. The restaurant has some seating for you to enjoy inside (no outdoor seating). Great find & would go back again next time we're in San Diego!

This place HITS! The hand made corn tortilla is so fresh and you have to try the chipotle and cilantro sauces, they pair well with everything. What we ordered:- California burrito: 10/10 the steak was sooo juicy and tender- Carne asada taco: 9/10 - Al pastor taco: 7/10 not a fan of the jackfruit? or crunchy yellow topping but I liked how the meat wasn't too oily- Mary tierra fries: 10/10 the fries were crispy and well seasoned with fresh guac on top. The steak and shrimp were so juicy and flavorful too, absolutely delicious!

The Taco Stand came highly recommended to me by local San Diegan coworkers, so I had to go on my last day while visiting for work.I ordered a California burrito and two Al pastor tacos, and helped myself to their abundant (and delicious) salsa bar. The burrito was excellent, but I thought the guacamole kind of overpowered all other flavors of the burrito ingredients. The tortilla texture on the tacos were amazing, but again I felt the cilantro sauce slightly overpowered the flavor of everything else. I genuinely really enjoyed the charred flavor on the meat on both items, so I would have definitely loved to taste that a bit more had it not been for the large amounts of guacamole and the cilantro sauce on the burrito and tacos, respectively.Regardless, I'll totally come back because it was still yummy, and their salsas were great!
Be the first to ReplyI had two tacos: al pastor and Baja.
Both delicious. Atmosphere was fun. The service was friendly.

As if this place needs yet another review but I just thought I'd give my two cents. These were great tacos, but I don't know if they're as good as I expected after reading the plethora of fabulous reviews. What I will say is that fish taco blew me away because of the crunchy, crispy exterior and soft interior. I'm not usually a fish taco person but this made me reconsider. The tacos themselves relied heavily on the sauces for flavor so I'm not sure how great of a taco it would've been without it. There is also a counter in the back where you can load up with salsas, limes, pickles, etc. It also seemed to be popular with tourists so it was packed at 6pm, but didn't take too long for the food to cook. The location itself was central and the inside is modern. Overall, I think it was a decent place for Mexican food so I'm glad I got to go.

The Sonora taco was great! The Carne asada was definitely quality. There was a lot of people waiting in line and it didn't seem like there would be a place to sit before we got our food but it all worked out. People come and go. Seemed everyone enjoyed the food and ambiance of the place. Will be going back on our next San Diego trip
Be the first to ReplyI stop here whenever I'm in San Diego.
It's always delicious and the fresh, hot churros are a must. Service is good and quick. I love it!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely a 4 star spot.
Their carne asada is really good. 4 dollar tacos but worth it. They are not street tacos but a little bit upscale. Salad and sauces are great. Pastor was good. I love this place. Better than most taco spots in SD
Be the first to ReplyYou know this place is good if I am leaving a review.
That said, this place is BANGINGThe quality of ingredients, the customer service, the vibe of the shop and THE SAUCE gawd damn!!!Any time a friend is visiting SD I make sure they get a cali burrito and some tacos from here. Not only are the quality of ingredients top tier, the pricing is so fair I come here weekly. No other taco shop compares. Like Legitimately. Highest of Highest recommendations. If you are reading this go get it.

This place is so good & affordable that I almost cry myself to sleep about it. I'm from Orange County! San Diego will always have the best Mexican food at the best prices! The (corn?) tortillas are like my favorite ones I've ever had. The texture is so on point, thick, and a good vehicle for its components. The tortilla is textured well, robust, and doesn't fall apart easily while being cooked down enough to be delicious. I don't love tortillas so I'm rather picky on them. I got the shrimp and carne asada tacos. The proteins were cooked beautifully. I will be coming back next month to have a lot more! One of my favorite taco / burrito places, ever!
Be the first to ReplyMouth watering Carne Asada tacos.
Any time were in San Diego we make it a point to stop at the Taco Stand. My wife loves the Baja Tacos.
Be the first to ReplyBasically flawless tacos.
And you expect good tacos around here, after all we are in San Diego which is only about 18 miles from the Mexico border... The best thing about this place: they press the tortillas fresh for you when you order! Amazing.Everything I got here was excellent: the Baja fish taco, the pastor, the carne asada, all the different sauces, etc.

Shootout to Frank, he was attentive, hardworking and kind! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is fun. The outdoor dining area is extremely small and doesnt accomodage the large crowds that show up here so save a seat well in advance

My boyfriend has raved about this place and really wanted to take me here. However, since I wanted to explore a bit of DTSD, he was really compliant with bringing me to this location.Food was honestly meh. He suggested I try the fish tacos (both grilled and fried). I honestly didn't enjoy the grilled fish taco at all. I felt like the ones I had in the bay were better. The fried fish taco has a great crunch but again, not the best taste. I also tried the al pastor taco. This was more tolerable, but it smelled kinda funky. Before taking a bit, the smell of the taco creeped up my nose and it wasn't very pleasant. The last taco I tried were the shrimp tacos. Those were the best of all the ones I tried. As for the elote, it was my very first time trying it so I got excited. It's really good but I felt like the lime really overpowered everything that was put on the corn.Parking wise, park in the street. My boyfriend and I parked in this nice parking garage that's nearby. The quotes of the garage were priced differently to what we were billed and we didn't stay there too long. I wouldn't personally come back to this location as the parking and size of this place is not worth it, but am open to visiting other locations!
Be the first to ReplyHands down the best tacos.
The line was very much worth it. There wasn't much room inside to eat so we ate it in the car before heading home with a bad food coma.
Be the first to ReplyChicken Burrito was so great! The tortilla tasted home made.
Their pico from the bar was great to pour over the top as I ate to the bottom. The quak and beans were pulled together to really compliment the entire experience. Fantastic!!
Be the first to ReplyThe Taco Stand exceeded all of our expectations.
My husband and I stopped in San Diego recently and wanted to find a taco spot for lunch. We found our way to The Taco Stand and with the packed inside and line out the door, we knew we probably found a gem. Upon entering the establishment and getting to the front of the line to order, we were warmly greeted by the woman taking orders and she patiently answered my questions and let me take my time while placing our first time order without making me feel rushed. Once we placed our order, the wait time for the food was more than reasonable. We were a little worried about finding a table to sit in to eat as they had limited seating inside and outside for customers. However, people were constantly leaving immediately after finishing their food (or taking their orders to go), so we didn't have a problem finding a spot to wait for our food and eat it. Our order consisted of- a California burrito- Carne Asada fries- a Pastor taco- a Carne Asada taco- a Carne Asada quesadillaObviously we got a good taste of their carne asada which was FANTASTIC! Super tender and prepared well. Each of the items were generously packed with meat and their respective fixings. Absolutely loved the California burrito! I would highly recommend, though everything we ordered was phenomenal. All praises to share about The Taco Stand. Definitely a worthwhile spot to visit while in this area of San Diego.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my favorite place to get Mexican food in San Diego.
I used to live right down the street from this location for 2 years and would walk here at least once a week. There's a reason this place gets packed, with the line down the street during peak lunch and dinner times. I love everything that I've tried here. The California burrito is my go to comfort food. The tacos are amazing. Their salsas, especially the cilantro salsa is delicious with anything here. Their meats are well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The employees are awesome and remember you. There are manyyy repeat customers for a reason! I highly recommend this location when you're craving Mexican food!
Be the first to ReplyThis was my first time here.
We had heard it was a local favorite and decided to try it. I ordered a Mushroom burrito and cactus taco. Both of these were amazing and delicious. The burrito was large and I was almost unable to eat the taco but...it was too good to not so I was stuffed when I finished . It is a short walk from the Gaslamp district to here and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend eating here when in the area if you want authentic Mexican food.

I recommend this place for its taste, service, price, and quality of food. This is the place you are looking for when you want good Mexican food. It's a place you call in the "hole in the wall", but it's not. The Taco Stand has several locations and well operated. It taste so good! I ate at many fancy places in san Diego, but this was simply the best. Taco Stand's food didn't need much seasoning or fancy shit on fire or ingredients that don't compliment each other. I've also had lots of Mexican food. Me le gusta Mexican comestibles. And as you get closer to Mexico the food gets better... and so this place is as close as I can get in downtown San Diego. This place even makes its own tortillas for tacos. (Mira mi video!) I saw a woman pressing and frying the tortillas! I don't recommend the drinks here, unless you are getting cerveza or some other bottled drink. Because the horchata or frescas didn't get any love. They looked they were made by a kit you could buy at Costco. Highly recommended. Buy and take to go to eat at the beach!

A must try location! These tacos were so delicious! Me and my boyfriend were here on vacation and were craving tacos, thanks to Yelp, we found this place! And our craving was definitely satisfied. In this picture you can see how the tortillas are made so yes they are fresh! And The tacos is how it looks when you place a to go order. Get ready to wait in line but it is definitely worth it.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing tacos.
Recommended to go here by a SD friend.I got the Baja, Spicy Shrimp (Camaron), Pescado, and Al Pastor. My two favorites hands-down were the Baja (can't go wrong with beer-battered fried fish) and the Al Pastor (so juicy!).I was very surprised at how generous each taco was. So much meat, toppings, and sauces! I got 4 tacos and was stuffed (though... I'm sure I could've eaten more if I wanted to.... the tacos were so good...)Will come back here again.Wish they had horchata though, but still beyond happy with my experience here!

Flavorful Carne Asada with the nice charred edges that give your taco/burrito a fun texture in every bite. Reasonably priced and fast service make this a great stop for weekday lunch in downtown!

GO HERE! We love asking locals where they would go and multiple people from Uber drivers, to hotel employees recommended it and it did not disappoint. Good food good price. I would absolutely recommend the Spicy Shrimp and Al Pastor tacos. Let's just say we only had 24 hours in San Diego and stopped by here 2x!
