Great place for tacos and chips
Great fish tacos. The best was the chips and salsas though. Extremely delicious. Black salsa, creamy avocado salsa, those were my favorites. This is San Diego and the best tacos in the world but I’ve never had salsas like this.

Tacos was totally amazing! We also tried the Mexican corn and that was to die for. Their salsa bar has a great selection and the 2 we tried was super yummy. Every thing fresh and flavors were the best! We are visiting and hope to get a chance for another shot!

Excellent food, nice service and nice staff! This place is small, but the food is fantastic! I love the tacos, the burritos, and churros! The salsas is are pretty good, but not amazing quality. He had the California burrito as well as several of their tacos. All very very good! Parking is no good in this area though, so beware of that.

Fantastic tacos. We had the Sonora, Caldaron, and el Pastor. All were fantastic. The super fresh tortillas were the secret.

Not gourmet but gets 5 stars.
Great taqueria. Fast and professional service. Small area in and outdoors for eating.
I had asada and chicken asado tacos last night after the play at civic auditorium.
I’m goin back today for lunch.
Certainly rivals el gordo.
BEST TORTILLA IN TOWN! 😊
The first time I tried this joint it was in Wynwood, Miami. I’m gonna say it’s the best tortilla I’ve ever put in my mouth, it’s soft, very corn-y (it’s that even a word lol), melt in your mouth and of course delicious!
My favorite it’s Camaron, served with melting cheese with that tortillas oh my…. My mouth is watering while I’m typing this!
Also you can see them making your order since the kitchen is open kitchen. There’s a salsa bar so u can take as many as you like!
Verdict: I will definitely come back!
Quick and delicious
A great place to grab a quick bite, we ordered to go and the staff was friendly, the service was quick and the food was delicious

Amazing food at this tiny shop. Literally the very best Carne Asada burrito I have ever had! The steak was a perfect medium rare. The salsa selections left nothing to desire. If you like amazing Mexican fare then this is the place for you. I could whine that the chips were a bit stale, or that the place was crowded. Boo Hoo, if you are in San Diego and don't give this joint a try you should be ashamed of yourself!! Try the corn on the cob for a whole new delight too.....
Be the first to ReplyIn four days, we went there twice
The Taco Stand is busy. We went twice while visiting San Diego and both times there was a wait, but a wait worth it! We had fish tacos, carne asada, and Nopal tacos. Everything is made fresh, which is why you will wait a little longer. This place is a "Must Do."

THE BEST CARNE ASADA TACO I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!
Our first order of business after landing in San Diego and dropping our luggage off at the hotel was to get some bomb tacos, of course. My friend had found this spot, which was about a 10-ish minute walk from our hotel in Downtown. We arrived on a Thursday at around 1:30 and there were only a few people ahead of us, but a steady influx of people after us. You order your tacos (which was maybe a 10-15 minute wait), pick it up when they call you, and seat yourself. There are that many seats but it seems like most diners don't linger around. They just eat their tacos and leave. Luckily, we were able to nab two tables together for our party of 8!
I had the carne asada, al pastor, and baja (battered fried fish) tacos. The carne asada was AMAZING. Normally, I'm iffy about getting this because the steak tends to be dry and/or chewy. But not here! The meat is cooked fresh to a medium rare and is so tender. It's topped with cilantro, onion, salsa and guacamole, all great accoutrements but if you add their cilantro aioli (which you have to ask for), it really takes the taco over the top. The al pastor was a close second. This was topped with cilantro, onion, cilantro sauce, and pineapple. I normally don't like cooked pineapple, but this one was good. They use fresh pineapple as opposed to canned. Unfortunately, the fish missed the mark for me. This one was topped with cabbage, cilantro, tomato, onion, and chipotle sauce. Maybe I waited too long to eat it but it wasn't really that crispy. The chipotle sauce was also a bit too smoky for my taste buds.
We also ordered some fries to share. Originally, I was eyeing the carne asada fries (which is a meal in itself) but we were each getting three tacos so we agreed it might be too much food. We made the right choice because the other girls got it and said it was a bit much. If you do want to get it, I would recommend getting fewer tacos. We ended up getting regular fries and didn't regret it. They were perfectly fried and seasoned, and again, was made even better when I dunked them in the cilantro aioli.
I was so stuffed afterwards. I can eat but I think three tacos and even regular fries was a bit too much for me. Two tacos + the fries would have been the perfect amount. Still, I really wish I had enough stomach capacity to have tried one (or at least a bite) of each. The nopal sounded interesting, especially since I haven't eaten a whole lot of cactus (if any?) in my life. I will always choose meat over veggies.
On our last night in San Diego, even though we were already going to a Mexican restaurant for dinner, I took my sister here right before dinner (who missed out on the first round) because I wanted her to try the best carne asada taco I've ever had in my life. I'm not sure if she said the same words about it but she said she enjoyed it too. (Note - this was on a Saturday at around 6:30 pm and it was SUPER busy, so there was a wait. I would recommend placing an order ahead of time for pickup).
I wish they had great tacos like these in NYC!
Great fast food
The place is a good takeout sort of place with great shrimp quesadillas, mushroom tacos, carne asada tacos, and baja tacos. Others I'm sure are tasty as well but these are the favorites.

The B.E.S.T. Tacos!!
Al Pastor Tacos, corn on the cob, chips and guac! Oh my!!! The corn tortillas are handmade. Everything was fresh and delicious. So very yummy!!! We’ll definitely go back before our vacay is done.

I am a life long fan of tacos and my Mexican family takes pride in making some of the best carne asada. My uncle even has a piece of metal he'll give to a butcher in the thickness of how he wants his meat cut.
I went to the Taco Stand on B street with a co- worker and we were blown away by their carne asada and pork tacos. I am giving them 4 stars because I didn't think their refried beans were as great.
It's no wonder they have a line out their door at lunch time. Definitely a must go to Mexican food place.
