The Ship has sailed
My ex-colleague and I remember fondly The Ship restaurant when it was at International Plaza, some 2 decades ago. We decided to visit this one at Shaw Centre for nostalgia. Alas, we both agreed memories are best kept tucked away. We shared 2 dinner sets - BBQ pork ribs and lobster bisque pasta. We upgraded the soups both to lobster bisque. Sadly, we have nothing good to say about the food. The lobster bisque was diluted - honestly, Jack's Place's lobster bisque taste better. The pork ribs were not tender, the lobster was bland and the pasta was soggy. Staff were polite, and that was the saving grace. We will never return to the Ship, it has sailed long ago.

Food good but Service terrible. Unless you can understand Mandarin or tagalog. Short change on sets as drink n desert missing unless you remind them or self service. Do not go in groups. That's when they.....you

Nice place for a meal. Clean. Good spread on the menu. Staff are helpful. Efficient service. Tends to be crowded during lunch.

Establishment was clean and reasonably maintained. Staff efficient and polite. Meals quickly prepared and well presented. Mid range pricing
Be the first to ReplyA Nostalgic Experience
My dinner companion had made a reservation and 10 minutes before we got to the restaurant, we received a phone call to ask if we were arriving. Strangely enough, when we were standing at the entrance of the restaurant, no one was there to greet or show us to our table. A team member approached us and when we told her we had a reservation, she muttered inaudibly and walked off, leaving us wondering if someone else would bring us in. Shortly after, a fellow team member did. This restaurant has been around a long time and I faintly recall having been here with my family in my youth. The portions were generous and I especially like the Garlic Bread. Be mindful that the Bombe Alaska (it says on the menu for two to four persons) is huge too, and may be considered a lot for two persons. It would be better for four persons though, in my opinion. The service was pleasant enough, despite the awkwardness at the start of our dining experience. For a spot of nostalgia, this is one restaurant one could have a meal in.
Be the first to ReplyStandard dropped
As a long time patron, who has enjoyed the fish soup since it was first introduced in the menu - I am severely disappointed. I went back for the fish soup for the first time since COVID and the standard has dropped - the soup tastes diluted, the fried fish is cold - not freshly fried like before. Hope management will bring back standardโฆ.
Be the first to ReplyThe new R with their big cars go fof cheap menu with fish soup as star . pathetic
Coinciding with the covid disaster , The Ship sank !! Keep your mask and enjoy an affordable menu, with fish soup etc complete with desert and cofee-tea !
Be the first to ReplyGood service
It will appear the only chinese food (which also seems to be their signature dish) is the fried fish noodle soup. Looks like every table seems to be have at least 1 customer ordering it. The rest of the menu is quite standard western food like fishNchips, pasta, fried chicken etc. Service is very good for sure.

Good service and food. We had pasta and noodles. Kids enjoyed the food. Staff were prompt, helpful and courteous. We will patronise again. Good job.
Be the first to ReplyServed another table with food left on our table for 5 minutes
I am horrified at the level of hygiene practice in this restaurant. The waiter served us 2 bowls of fish soup but came back 5 minutes later saying "sorry wrong order, you haven't touched hor?", took the bowls back and served it to another table. Although we have not eaten the food; we have been chatting right above the soups with our masks off! This is definitely not the kind of standard I would have expected.

I enjoyed the fried fish soup noodle, the fish is crispy & tasty, blends well with the milky soup noodle.

I ordered garlic bread at the Ship Nex, we were surprised they used normal bread to make garlic bread unlike The ship at show at least they used French baguette.
Be the first to ReplyRelic of the 70s
A relic of the past. Surprised that it withstood the pressure of decades. Located in a quiet corner of the second floor of a retail office building. For a Wednesday night, there is a decent crowd with approx 50% occupancy.
S$38.90 ++ (10% service charge and 7% sales tax). Half a lobster with a choice of ribeye, lamb chop, pork chop etc. Soup of day, a simple blueberry pudding or ice cream and a drink.
The lobster could have been more fresh and the ribeye steak better marinated and seasoned.
Strictly for fans of the 70s
Fish Noodle Soup
Recommended this place for fish noodle and it did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked fish and tasty noodle soup. Definitely recommend booking a table as it seemed to be very busy with some people waiting quite a while to get seated

For as long as I can remember, this place existed in the โ80โs till now! The decor has changed and the menu has been modified. Always remembered as a place for good value Western food! This evening we had prime ribs, half lobster and grilled lamb chops plus 1 soup, 1 Dessert and 1 tea, and a bottle of Australian red wine. Total bill S$174
Be the first to ReplyRecommended for a no-frills lunch or dinner
This is a no frills, retro-ish basic restaurant offering a spectrum of Western food with a spattering local cuisine. The restaurant has Hainanese roots but has since expanded its palette. Ambience is nothing to write home about, but the food is decent and good value. You wouldnt come here for a romantic date, but it's do nicely as a daily-lunch place. We had the very popular fried fish soup noodles. You may have to make reservations (for the fish noodles) if you want to try it as it gets sold out quickly. The set package gets you a drink/beverage and dessert. The fried fish soup (choice between with or without milk) was delicious, flavourful but not too salty. The fried fish was very well fried - crispy outside and soft inside, and it is served on separately so it doesnt get soggy in the broth. Also tried the chicken wings - quite large and tasty, but a tad too salty for me.
