Excellent all around.
Excellent all around. Excellent appetizers, mains, desserts, and drinks. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent as expected. I was concerned about the rooftop getting chilly but the heaters did a good job. Dinner during sunset was fabulous. I would definitely go back.

Whether you are a local or a visitor, dining at the Rooftop by JG Restaurant at the Waldorf Astoria is a not-to-be missed outstanding culinary experience. With sweeping 360-degree views of Downtown, Beverly Hills, Century City, West LA, Bel Air and Holmby Hills and more, it is simply a fantastic place to dine. I grew up in Westwood and drove down Wilshire Boulevard thousands of times and to see it from above is so special, too. The views from this restaurant show the intricate tapestry of Los Angeles architecture from small to mega-sized homes as well as sleek high-rise buildings and hotels. Love it! The weather was balmy today after a rainstorm and the cloud-filled sky was gorgeous. Meanwhile, we thought that the food is creative, flavorful and absolutely delicious. This was my third visit to this restaurant and today we split a great hamburger with tasty and crispy fries along with a pear and frisée salad that was the perfect compliment to the burger. My husband had the salmon dish which he thoroughly enjoyed. We finished up with a plate of three different cookies which we also split. On our last visit, we had the Cobb Salad that was great, too. The service was attentive and excellent! We definitely appreciated their friendly and professional demeanor. The tables are well-spaced so you can truly enjoy interacting with your friends or family. We prefer al fresco dining these days and this was perfect! This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyNice place, Weak service
Great panoramic views of the city, the food is fine, the service was okay. There's something off with the manager and she lacks the refined customer service for a Waldorf. Had an annoying incident that left a bad taste in our mouths. We had ordered a salad that came with chicken and asked for it to be replaced with salmon. We were told okay and no mention of an up charge. We got the bill $64 for a salad - they charged $24 for the salmon when adding chicken costs $19, so why not charge us just $5 for the upgrade. The manager claimed that the chicken given in the salad is so small that it doesn't count so we had to charge the full amount for salmon. How and why is this possible? Why would you even offer in the first place a piece of chicken that is so small it doesn't even register on the radar. Unbelievable.

First, this place’s view has sooo amazing and fantastic!! Absolutely, you have to reserve this restaurant. But it is worth to do!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat, but a little overpriced
The view and foods were amazing, I really enjoyed the meal. But some little dissapointments. It was little too dark in my opinion and felt a little crowded.

Stopped in multiple times over the course of 3 days as we were staying at the Waldorf. The first two days we did late afternoon/early evening drinks and light snacks prior to dinner reservations elsewhere. The bartenders here are very nice and personable, and were very attentive. Likely spent a good 5-6 hours at the bar over those days and enjoyed the time. The third day we did dinner here as our flight out of the country was a red-eye. We had a couple salads as we didn't want to eat too heavy prior to our flight. In the prior days we had some of the fries as well I believe. The food was fine as I recall. The beverage prices here are high, just fyi, but this is at the Waldorf rooftop, so what do you expect? Overall, thoroughly enjoyed the multiple visits here.

My mother and I enjoyed another segment of her birthday on the rooftop with outstanding service provided by our waiter, Nick. The weather was perfect to enjoy exciting views of the city and I highly recommend visiting on a quiet Sunday afternoon since the surroundings were clam and peaceful. Our dinner and desserts were stunning in presentation and totally satisfied our tastes. Triple compliments to the chef!!! The entire staff at the hotel was friendly and extremely professional. I would recommend this restaurant for groups of 6 or less, even though they can accommodate large parties, to better enjoy the calm vibe.

The Rooftop by JG is the perfect destination for date night, a VIP client lunch or for entertaining out of town guests. You can find food on the menu for the most discerning while enjoying fresh air and specular views. Book your table ahead of time or you may not be seated due to high demand.
Be the first to ReplyStunning views compensate for OK food
There is not a more magnificent view of Los Angeles than this rooftop. Even though it was cloudy, we could see downtown LA skyline. The ambience is lovely, especially the greenery walls, which make it seem intimate and warm. We were there last night, and although the restaurant is called "The Rooftop by JG," there is nothing to suggest it's a Jean-George restaurant. The food is OK, but not particularly tasty or spectacular in any way, except the prices. The prices (Cobb salad $36, pasta $44, burger ($40 something) reflected those of a Michelin-starred chef, but not the execution. We've eaten at several Michelin starred restaurants and they were all spectacular. This was not in the same league. Having said that, it's a must see location, and you can go there for drinks. Our visit was during cloudy weather and the views were still great. We were there previously when it was sunny and LA looked even more spectacular. Others must have passed on this thinking as we were there on a Saturday evening, and there were empty tables for the almost 3 hours we occupied our table. Not a good sign. One last note: the manager who responds to comments must cease a form response that does not address what the reviewer states.
Be the first to ReplyA nice meal with great views of the city
This is a nice quiet restaurant with great views of the city. The food and service were excellent. I would highly recommend. We ate here twice once for dinner and once for breakfast, and another time for a glass of wine.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible service and horrible attitude
I usually don’t write reviews, but in this case I felt compelled. Horrible service and horrible attitude. My wife and I invited friends who were visiting from new york to have cocktails at the rooftop. We were all looking forward to the experience at this heavily advertised venue. Shortly after we sat down the waitress literally kicked us out because we didn’t order a main dish! Apparently “you can only sit down if every person in the group is ordering a main dish”. Although we ordered appetizers and 5 cocktails, that didn’t qualify us for a table. The waitress didn’t even give us time to finish our cocktails, and just charged us and showed us the way out. You’d think that they needed our table to sit other people, but the restaurant was half empty. The server talked down to us and we all felt highly embarrassed and disappointed. The service staff could greatly benefit by undergoing sensitivity training and an attitude of inclusiveness.

I went there few days ago. I had a great experience. The rooftop offers one of the best views of LA. We got the cheeseburger and the sashimi, both delicious. I recommend make a reservation because it gets very crowded. We were very satisfied of the service, with one only exception: one the hostesses (she has very bright blue eyes and black hair) working that night was extremely rude and with a non friendly attitude.Such a pity our experience had to start with the wrong foot. But we still recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, even better views
We made reservations for lunch on a weekday. I figured it would get busier at peak times, so we booked earlier at 11:30am. We were seated right away, with a great table along the edge with stunning views. We were on our honeymoon and the hostess congratulated us before we were seated. Our server also did the same. Service was fast, polite. Our server even thought to ask me a dietary question based on how I had requested my dish to be prepared. It was very thoughtful. I had the lobster burger and my wife had salmon. Both were fantastic. We also had the tuna tartare as a starter. It was great, but a bit small portion for the price. When our meal was over, our server came by and gave us a complimentary dessert to congratulate us on our marriage. It was a really great gesture that we truly appreciated.
Be the first to ReplyWas hoping for a better service.
Travelled from San Diego to JG rooftop for a lunch and although we were super excited to be there, we were little disappointed: We had a reservation at 3:30pm but we didn't get seated earlier than 4pm. We asked if we can move a table at the very beginning as couple of tables with better view were open. We asked one staff two times about this but they didn't get back to us, when we asked someone else 3rd time, they said they are booked and they can't move us. Nobody showed up there for the next 1.5h (we left after)... We got our food, but had to ask for utensils 2x before we could start our meal. To sum up, the rooftop had a breathtaking view and the interior was on point. Food was ok and drinks were great, but you would expect a better service by paying $44 for a burger and $26 for a regular cocktail.
Be the first to ReplyGood views, no quality food
The restaurant is with great views and service. Unfortunately, the food quality does not match the class of the restaurant. Food in my opinion is below average for what you would expect. In addition, the kitchen is not able to keep up and therefore it does take quite along time to get your food. Make sure you order appetizers if you are hungry. This is the second time we were at this restaurant. I Will go back again for the views, not the food.
Be the first to ReplyOn top of the world
The view is what greets you first. If you can book a table around sunset it’s absolutely stunning but if you can’t it’s still a gorgeous 360° view. We ordered the sweet pea guacamole, grilled octopus (this was amazing), broccoli and kale salad, lobster burger, truffle burger and salmon. The lobster burger was our favorite! For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake and almond cake. Prices aren’t cheap but the ambience and food were definitely worth it.
Be the first to ReplyFirst Time in Beverly Hills
We stayed at the Waldorf and ate at the rooftop 4 times, once for breakfast but found it was more convenient in room. Once for a late lunch and twice for dinner. I can tell you there was not one thing that was not wonderfully prepared and delicious and the service was great! Not sure if it was because we were staying at the Hotel or we were a couple ... the seating was perfect! Even when it was busy both times late night. Off course it was expensive but it is Beverly Hills what do you expect and in comparison to the Polo Lounge this was the best hands down.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular (but bland salmon)
Magical. The hotel lobby, the rooftop, the venue, the service, the VIEWS!! Everything was perfect. I’m not easily impressed and we predominantly eat at nice restaurants, but Rooftop by JG is phenomenal… along with the prices being Astronomical! Angela, our waitress was endearing, knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, could not say enough good things. Mu black sesame salmon was a bit bland 😳😬 and for a 49$ of fish I would have expected better, but I was constantly taken aback every time I looked out at the view, so I didn’t complain. Highly recommend it!
Be the first to ReplyTotally worth it
It’s a great place, the food and drinks excellent. A very good choice for a brunch. Totally loved it. It’s a little bit expensive but it’s a must. Just an observation, all the personal is very nice here but the hostess, Kara, totally disappointed us. She was very rude to us and talked like she was doing a favor …. Terrible.

Good for solo travelers who want a panoramic view! This is a great bar, perfect service. It is airy and the floral arrangements are very colorful. Classy and chic, dress to impress! Great for business meetings but for solo travelers, easy to make friends at the bar!
Be the first to ReplyToo bad, eaten here two previous times
Take this with a grain of salt, covid not making anything easy. That being said, I was worried when the waitress finally came to our table and told us she would be providing excellent service. Not exactly, took several attempts to get anybody to turn on the overhead heaters. The menu we received was not up to date and seemed to be a mystery to our server. Squash soup came, Pea soup was ordered. The sides on the menu, not the sides that were delivered on one of the mains. The view is terrific and covid could not screw that up. On the other hand, seemed like they were shooting themselves in the foot. There were ways to even correct the mistakes, sorry about the wrong soup, it’s comped, but that was not the case. Cucumber Martini did not list simple sugar as an ingredient (all the others were), had to be remade, comped, no. Have no issues with charging full retail if that is what I was getting. Will try it again when the world is more normal, in the mean time, I would skip it.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing view and brunch
We had brunch on a cool Sunday early afternoon. Excellent cocktails and the most delicious green pea guacamole'. We had a delicious burger, truffle fries and a very tasty Lobster burger. Waiter was fantastic, atmosphere was delightful and the view is to die for........

Fantastic food, fantastic scenery, in resto (and out). Caesar salad was fantastic. Servers, too. Parking is not cheap (and neither am I) at $26 plus tip, but u can park across Santa Monica blvd for free after 8, I believe.
Be the first to ReplyGreat View and Great Service
Hey there! Two of us went for a staycation for one night at this fabulous hotel, and we had dinner here. The VIEW can't be beat. Go up in the daytime or night, it is great. Service was also great. Our server, Harmony, was very attentive. Our reservation was for 8pm and we were sat at 8:06pm. We ordered red wine to drink while we waited, so it was perfect timing. We ordered a lobster burger and fries to split, and a Caesar salad (We had an appetizer charcuterie board at Wally's before dinner, and we just weren't that hungry.). The lobster burger has a great taste, but was dwarfed by the bun. 1/3 of a larger burger would have been great, and we'd gladly pay more for it, because it was tasty. The fries were just ok, as they don't hold heat very well. The side Caesar was forgettable. Skip it.
