Never Again.
Unimpressed. Nothing to write home about, the food was just okay. I could barely find the ham on my Eggs Benedict. Confused as to why this place has such a high rating. Service was horrible. Screwed up one order, waited 10 mins for cream for our coffee, waited 20 mins for a cocktail. We’ve had better meals at a coffee shop in the middle of nowhere. Never Again.
Be the first to Replyvery good food, but small, round tables for two are not appropriate
Our waiter was very competent and attentive. The dinner was good. It was a shame that the asparagus was served in a cold bowl. This meant that the asparagus also got cold very quickly. For $12 you expect more here. The wine selection is very large. Unfortunately, the meal was very cramped at a small, round table for two people with a wine cooler, plate for the main course, bowl for the asparagus and glasses. In this price range you can expect more. You felt crammed in. The tables for four are definitely better here.

My birthday dinner was at Pembroke at the Hotel DuPont and it was excellent Dewayne was our server and he took excellent care of us. A champagne toast before dinner and a birthday tiramisu complete with a candle! Food was excellent, some of the best ever! If you are in Washington, DC go to the Pembroke and ask for Dewayne…like The Rock!

Absolutely amazing EVERYTHING! Server Adan was so incredibly friendly and helpful. Food was TO DIE FOR, great wine list as well. If you do not stop here for a meal while in DC, you need to ask someone for forgiveness. It was that good.
Be the first to ReplyTop-of-the-line service and delicious food
The most impressive part of this restaurant is its service: you are treated as if it were a Michelin-starred restaurant: from the servers to the maître d'. Even the day before, when I had called in worried about my reservation when the weather forecast called for sleet, I was reassured that there would be no problem should I need to cancel. Everyone made sure you felt important before, during, and after. The food was good: my dish was excellent because it was a bit different, but everyone else ordered prosaic brunch dishes, like eggs over easy or pancakes with a bacon side. All were pleased. However, I ordered the Maryland Chesapeake Crab Benedict. It was very crabby, and the rest as expected: perfectly poached eggs on a muffin with a creamy hollandaise sauce. The Benedict dish (and the eggs over easy) came with a tidy square of hash brown potatoes that was both attractive and tasty. I also ordered the honeydew melon juice as a beverage instead of orange juice. Good choice.

Had Thanksgiving Reservations and waited for about 30 minutes after to be seated. The place was packed and they looked like they were under staffed. Managers were very apologetic about our wait. We finally get seated and waited a few more minutes for our waiter. The all you can eat stone crabs and shrimp were good however I think that’s where their downfall is. So many people camp out at the seafood bar that they run over on time making them behind. The cocktails were good along with the appetizers. Our entrees were ok, the Short Rib was very tough and hard to eat. The fish was good but lacking some flavor. Desserts were very good. We would be up to trying again however not during a holiday.

What a lovely combination of wonderful ambiance, outstanding service (from Daniel) and excellent food, (tuna crudo, crispy salmon, chicken milanese, chocolate fondant and warm rolls were all great) We tried it for a birthday lunch and were so pleased, we will be back for dinner very soon.
Be the first to ReplyA lovely place for dinner!
The Pembroke was nested inside a hotel and a place we had never had an opportunity to try in the past. You are greeted with a lovely space, light grey and peach tones, comfortable leather booths and soft spacious chairs to sit in. The bar is vast and very welcoming. We were greeted by the very amazing general manager Bardia, who offered us a generous booth with a view in the restaurant in a quiet spot in the back. We started with a delicious Gin Martini and a Manhattan; both were very well made and the bartender was fantastic. For dinner we started with a Caesar salad that was really nice, although the romaine was not chopped it was easy to handle and the croutons were spicy and full of garlic. We also tried the grilled octopus and it was very tender and full of flavor. My husband tried the ribeye and fries; it was perfectly cooked and seasoned; the fries were more thick cut and I think very forgettable. Next time I will ask for the standard fires which were thinner and looked more interesting. I went for the buccani which is a tubed pasta topped with lobster and a lobster cream sauce. The pasta was well cooked but I thought there was very little lobster meat in the dish; more of tiny pieces with the flavor of lobster cream. Desert we tried the Profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce which I would skip. The profiteroles were not the soft, eggy texture they should have been and the chocolate sauce lacked complexity and flavor. We actually thought it tasted like Hershey syrup. The other desert we tried was the passionfruit tart which was well balanced and very good/unique. I highly recommend trying the Pembroke as it has been one of the most surprising dinners in we have tried in a long time. The atmosphere will make you feel welcomed, if not romanced. The best part was the people, from the waitstaff, bartenders and general manager we felt cared for and welcomed

Beautiful first class breakfast. I discovered that in Washington, unlike my home area in South Florida, that the better restaurants serve breakfast and brunch daily and take it as serious as dinner.

The entire experience at The Prembroke was fabulous! Food, service, staff, and atmosphere were perfect! The front of house staff were friendly and welcoming, attentive to every detail! Here are the highlights from our first visit to the restaurant. The Hybiscus Mojito mocktail, a refreshing twist on the Cuban punch favorite! Salads: Beets Three Ways - a delicate melody of red and yellow beets with a purée, and a carrot goat cheese emulsion in spectacular colors and contrast. Baby Iceberg Wedge - served with smoky bacon, grilled red onions, medly of cherry tomatoes, blue cheese chunks and dressing with chives. Entrée special: Striped Bass with fingerling potatoes, asparagus, corn succotash, and red pepper coulis with a lemon beurre blanc. A burst of fresh flavor and wonderful pairing. Tasty, succulent, crispy skin on the filet. Dessert: Profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce was a perfect end to our fabulous dinner.

Cool restaurant at the Dupont Circle, so easy to get to. We were there for brunch and hung out for the rest of the afternoon, a sign of how welcoming the restaurant is. Great service and quality of food, which is having my sincere recommendations.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience
I enjoyed a terrific breakfast at the Pembroke this morning. Both the yogurt parfait and the spinach/tomato benedict were, hands-down, the best I've ever experienced. On the parfait, the berries were fresh and ripe and the light drizzle of honey was a great touch. As for the benedict, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and served with the hollandaise over the hash brown was just incredible. Terrific service with friendly staff, as well. Highly recommended.

I was just finishing work and decided to ask my Husband to join me for an impromptu dinner. We chose The Pembroke, (Located inside the Dupont Circle hotel). The Manager, (Hicham) seated us. Shortly after being seated, we were greeted with a complimentary glass of Champagne. Great way to start the evening! Kierra was our server, and she was a dream! After introducing herself, she inquired about drinks. My husband, who isn't drinking alcohol right now was still deciding if he wanted to try a "Mocktail". I on the other hand was ready for one, (Alcohol of course! lol). I'm not a craft drink person. I wanted a drink that was not fruity or too sweet. Leo, the Bar tender is a Wizard behind the bar. He created a cocktail that was sublime! After our 1st course, (I had the tuna crudo, my husband had the grilled Octopus. Both were AMAZING!) my husband decided he wanted to try a Mocktail. The manager Hicham offered to make one for them. I didn't get to try it, but my husband could not get enough of it! Absolutely loved it. Shout to the entire staff at The Pembroke with special mention to Hicham, Leo, Keirra and Bardia. We hads a great time and definitely will be back! M. High

Coolest place for a drink in Dupont Circle area - great service, wine list and super cool vibe. Love to end the night here!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Thanksgiving Experience
I wanted to make sure to recognize this amazing team for executing a wonderful Thanksgiving event. Hicham Hazim and his team (I regret I didn't get the other male manager on the floor's name). The food and offerings were plentiful and delicious, and the vibe created really made a comfy and warm feeling.

The service here is fantastic, as is the food. Thee interior atmosphere is low key and quiet. You can have a nice conversation at a large table without having to shout. Ribeye steak was great. Tables are nicely spaced apart for privacy. Best meal we have had in about 6 months.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent place to Brucnh!
If you are looking for a nice pretty place to take a nice and pretty person the Pembroke is it! The food is good as heck! It's connected to the Dupont Circle which is an excellent luxury hotel that offers top-tier service.
Be the first to Reply1950’s cocktail bar meets trendy hotspot in Dupont Circle
The Pembroke is a casual elegant restaurant serving Contemporary American and Global cuisine located in Dupont Circle.I've eaten there more than once. In terms of options, the menu offerings are extensive,. Regarding quality and presentation of food, the restaurant were excellent… Some of the menu items I tried include: the beef tartare, grilled octopus, dover sole, wild mushroom fricassee, sweet potato and truffle fries - which were all very good. Everything was cooked to order. Portion size was appropriate for the price point and restaurant style. Customers can expect to pay roughly fifty per person, including drinks. Beverage wise, we tried Gingerly Pear'd, Niebla Mora, and the Sugar & Spice which were all very good. They also have a decent wine and bubbles selection. During this most recent visit, we did make reservations in advance, and it took approximately 0-5 minutes to be seated. Drinks came out fast. Appetizers came out fast. Main courses came out fast. The serving staff was hospitable and attentive. The restaurant itself is exquisitely styled and I’d best describe the atmosphere of the restaurant as being elegant and trendy. Regarding ambiance, the restaurant is naturally lit and the noise level is average. It is a good choice for families with small children. Scale wise, tables are appropriately spaced within one dining room, lending itself to the restaurant’s expansive feel. Overall, I would recommend and anticipate coming back again.
Be the first to ReplyMind blowing experience.
Absolutely beautiful. Outstanding restaurant form A to Z. Charming hostess, delicious food/drinks and outstanding service. The layout is beautiful and love the greenery and big French windows. Highly recommend this this place either for breakfast, brunch or dinner. It cannot get any better. Hands down the best restaurant in the DuPont circle area.
Be the first to ReplyA delicious and intimate experience
Everything about this restaurant was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, the restaurant itself was gorgeous, the atmosphere was very comfortable, and the food was extremely delicious! As far as pricing, it seems to be about average compared to most DC restaurants, and the food makes it all the more worth it. We went for brunch on Mother’s Day and enjoyed ourselves very much. I had the crab Chesapeake Benedict and must say it was delightful and would highly recommend saying so for yourself! It was fairly expensive compared to the other menu items, however totally worth it! The others I went with got the French toast and absolutely loved it. The breakfast sandwich was good, however not a favorite compared to the crab Benedict or French toast. The coffee was also delicious!!
Be the first to ReplyAmbience sometimes is not the determining factor
The setting is divine with uplifting flower arrangements haloed by sunlight streaming through the windows. The noise level is perfect, not a church silence but no need to raise your voice to be heard. The brunch crowd was diverse with many dressed in Sunday best for the occasion. The food was nothing to effuse over - very standard eggs Benedict were overcooked on a bed of crab that was charred rendering it flavorless. A greasy hash brown potato balanced the plate. The Hollandaise sauce was all that was notable. The coffee was served with a teacup saucer, thus did not fit so the cup wobbled. A cup of tea was served saucerless thus the teaspoon ended up on the table. I dropped a napkin and, when requested, the waiter brought out a replacement leaving the dirty napkin on the table. The service was slower than a DMV clerk. Getting the waiter’s attention was next to impossible then after getting it, his return jaunt took another eternity. Go here for the ambience and the possibility of having our waiter who neglected us allowing us to linger for hours when we probably should have left after 2. We never were asked about dessert (which we would have indulged in)…so good for the waistline too!
Be the first to ReplyAvocado Toast just OK
Avocado Toast was just OK, with an overcooked poached egg. I was expecting the best avocado toast in town. I tried a much better one at my nearby hotel the St Gregory. At Pembroke restaurant they automatically charge themselves with a 20% tip, and the service is not exceptional , I waited too long to get my check, I asked for it twice
Be the first to ReplyJust ok - I wouldn’t return.
Just average - there was nothing special here. The service was slow and the food was only ok. For the price this is below par.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
A lot of money was obviously spent on the interior decor here but the food does not match in quality. I ordered the Veal Milanese which arrived somewhat dry and no better than a wiener schnitzel from an average Viennese restaurant. I had forgone the carrot and ginger soup on the grounds that $16 for a simple soup that I can make at home is overpriced. The service was fine and the food arrived promptly. There are better options in the area.
Be the first to ReplyGood atmosphere and meal
Wife and I decidednto stop here for dinner after seeing all of the nice reviews. We had a reservation and we're seated right away, the waitress came right over to take our drink orders and explain the specials of the day. I ordered the ribeye, but the waitress returned and said they were out and I replaced the order with their flank steak. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but it was pretty close to well done. I thought about sending it back, but it was very tender with a great flavor. The fritzs we really good with the truffle shavings and chives. My wife had the black bass and she really enjoyed it. It was a good portion and had a rice reduction underneath. Other the the steak it was a great meal, still in the bubble weather it is worth a second visit
