I can not say enough great things about this hidden gem!
I can not say enough great things about this hidden gem! Booked a last minute night here with 2 friends. The Ocean House is so charming and very clean! Jared and Colleen make you feel right at home. It's only a block from the beach so it's the perfect location. We ordered food and sat on the porch and drank wine at night and in the morning had a wonderful breakfast and drove the complementary beach cruisers around the beautiful town of spring lake! Can not wait to go back!

My husband and I truly enjoyed our recent October stay at theBeautiful Ocean House in Spring Lake. Our king room #20 was ideal and each day the included breakfastWas delicious. Afterwards we relaxed on the expansive wrap-a-round porch with a cup of coffee and the Sunday paper in hand.We later used the complimentary bicycles, and checked out theSpring Lake sights suggested by innkeepers Colleen and Jared Kaloostian who treat their guests like family. We now look forwardTo our next visit to the Ocean House in Spring 2020.J. Manning

Location - good, not great. It's a short walk to the beach, but not on the water.Staff - friendly and accommodating. Room - didn't get any sleep due to the mattress being rather old and worn. Every time I rolled over, the springs would wake me up. Window air conditioners were loud and not very effective. And no cool air in the bathrooms. So it's a sauna in the bathroom. No air conditioning in main foyer or hallways. The air on the third floor was stifling. Coolers are not allowed in the rooms, or on the beach for that matter. They do provide a refrigerator to keep your items cold, and an ice machine so that was nice, but we would have preferred to keep the cooler in the room, not the 100 degree car. Beach badges are not included in the room fare. With the $$$$$$ summer rates I imagined they would throw in the badge, but that's not the case.Breakfast was tough to get down. Buffet style. We opted to eat out the second morning. Limited overnight parking; about seven cars. The rest have to drive down to the beach and walk back. Not that far, just another distraction. They have free wifi, but it didn't work in our room. Ever. They do offer free chairs and beach umbrellas which is nice. The town of Spring Lake is a great location with plenty of fantastic restaurants and the beach is nice as well, except for the price of the badges and the no coolers allowed rule.If this was $119-$129 I would say that would be a fair deal. Next time I'll be headed to the Hampton Inn.
Be the first to ReplyHad an awesome weekend at the Ocean house.
The service was awesome. Being a Southern boy sometimes I worry about having to deal with rude Yankee manners but everyone here was super nice and engaging. One of the proprietors even went as far to show me a bunch of historical photos of the area. Also, their dog Penny is a sweetheart you can generally find here lounging around in the lobby (hang in their ol girl). Most importantly, the food was awesome, perfect for curing my reception hang. I had some coffee cake at this place that was so good I had sit down to catch my breath. They also make a great pot of coffee and have Ice coffee available all day. I never thought I would say this but I cant wait to go back to the Jersey Shore.

We had a king suite. Yes, it was sorta small and of course it was OLD and could use some updating but it was good over all. High ceilings, comfortable bed, nice sitting room. Awesome location just one block from the beach and three blocks from town! Nice wrap around porch with cozy seating area. I agree with previous reviewer that one small AC unit in BR was not adequate for the whole space (on the hot third floor), but the BR was downright frigid. Breakfast was good. We ate there only one morning, but really enjoyed the spinach quiche, ham, fresh fruit salad and juices. Coffee and iced tea is available all day. I did not partake of the complimentary beach chairs or umbrellas but ran into guests using them on the beach today and they were definitely not top notch. BYO beach stuff! The staff was super. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

From the outside this place has all the charm you would expect. The porches are beautiful and the common rooms are nice. The real issues begin when you enter the rooms. They are awful. Furnishings are horrible. I would call them "garage sale" quality, but that would be too nice. It's like they grabbed the stuff from the curb after a garage sale that nobody would buy. When we walked into our "suite", lol, (hardly a suite) we were hit in the face with hot, stale air. There is no air conditioning in the sitting room or the bathroom. The bedroom door had one tiny a/c unit that barely cooled the bedroom so the bedroom door had to remain closed which made the rest of the suite unbearable. The furnishings were old and dingy, not quaint and charming as you would expect. This place needs a total overhaul. The included continental breakfast was barely edible. Outrageous that they charge over $400 a night for this place. The staff was pleasant, but they obviously aren't spending their time trying to fix this place up. Would definitely never return.
Be the first to ReplyA gem.
Lots of Victorian charm, without overdoing it. Clean rooms and a fantastic, accommodating staff, who were very helpful with restaurant recommendations, making reservations and calling a taxi for us. Great location, just a block from the beach. Wonderful wrap-around porch, where you can bring your morning coffee and breakfast, or sit and relax all day. Bicycles, umbrellas and beach chairs available. My friends and I loved it and vowed to return.

Wonderful place to stay! Quiet and charming :) The staff is great....very attentive....clean rooms and small breakfast in the am. We stayed on the 3rd floor with a private bath and we were very comfortable. The location is great as well. Most places in this area are older, so expect the vintage atmosphere. The rooms are very well kept and the caretakers were exceptional.

At Ocean House B&B, Collette was warm & hospitable when my husband & I arrived on Valentine's Day. It was one of the coldest day this year so we were thankful that the room was warm & cozy. They had coffee / tea & tasty biscotti out for us which was a plus. Breakfast was better than I had expected. Overall the best place we had stayed in by the Jersey Shore & it's only 1 block fm the beach. I highly recommended it.
Be the first to ReplyWe had my daughter's baby shower at the Ocean House.
It was a beautiful fall day and everything was perfect. Colleen is so lovely to work with. She did everything we requested to make it exactly as we wanted. She worked so hard cooking and serving and making sure everything was perfect the day of the shower. She set up the favors table in the doorway of the Library and the gift table in the Parlor. Everyone entered via of the beautiful front porch and walked past these lovely rooms on the way to the Dining Room.Michelle was at the front desk when we arrived and she helped us set up the favors table. A large group of overnight guests had just checked out and they already had all the tables set up in the front rooms and the Dining Room for our event. Becky and Kristen were so efficient setting the tables, serving everyone and then bringing the gifts from the Parlor into the Dining Room. Colleen and Jared were so hospitable and made everyone feel so welcome. They did such a beautiful job. Everything looked so beautiful and the food was excellent. The whole day went so smoothly. Everyone was commenting on what a beautiful venue it was and how wonderful the staff was. Some of the guests from out of town said they wanted to come back and stay overnight. Thanks Colleen and Jared and staff for such a great day!
