Omg we got the appetizer seafood tower, no regrets it was so good. Main course's excellent too. It's expensive but what on Nantucket isn't.
Be the first to ReplyOk I cheated: we didn't get tue LOBSTER TRAP's lobster roll.
What we uad were made to order and were great nonetheless. FISH AND CHIPS. The fish used was great! The batter was yummy and held together very well. The fish was flaky. The chips were perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. SHRIMP CHIPS was a great choice. Crunchy, juicy and full of flavor. Im embarrassed to say we had CHICKEN FIGG NO ERS but we had kids, what can I say. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned too. Takeout window only during lunch.

Our family ordered clambakes from this restaurant and were so disappointed. There was hardly any food in the containers, majority of the clams were not edible, lobsters were over cooked, half the orders were wrong or even missing AND they charged gratuity for takeout! It was a complete waste of money. THEN we went to Cisco brewery, turns out they have a food truck there. We ordered chicken fingers and the chicken was literally raw. Completely raw. I could not believe it. They would not reimburse us but wanted to remake the chicken for us. Like I want to eat their food now.
Be the first to ReplyFirst let me say the waitstaff couldn't be nicer.
As for the food, absolutely awful! Ordered the swordfish without the "blackened" seasoning. Tasted like iodine. It was over the hill. Probably why they don't offer it without heavy spicing. My wife ordered the Cesar salad with crispy chicken which was mushy and the dressing was must have been out of a big lot economy bottle. Again, dreadful as were the stale cheap croutons. Guessing this place is good for lobster and nice bar. There are reasons why other places have lines and this place is pretty empty. If you want a nice dinner, avoid this place!
Be the first to ReplyNot sure what the hype is about this place.
We did get seated immediately which was great and the waiter (who was the bartender) was very nice and attentive. He was juggling tables and the bar. Was looking forward to scallops, out, steamers 86d. Ok clam chowder was great as was the raw littlenecks. Hubby and I wanted to share a three lb lobster.. guess what- you got it, out. Ok so we ordered the two pounder which was flavorless and tough. Maybe I'm spoiled from Long Island but I've never had a lobster with no flavor (I went home and tested for COVID) negative! Just a tasteless lobster. My daughters hot and buttery lobster roll was delicious and not easy to find (most places have the cold rolls). I will say that the cocktails were delicious and we had one comped for all of our frustrations. All on all I would return for something other than the boiled lobster just call first to see what they are out of.
Be the first to ReplyFor starters, the prices here are outrageous.
If it wasn't for the 10/10 food, I'd give it a much lower rating. I had the lobster roll, sweet potato fries, and clams. It was all super fresh and extremely flavorful. If you have a lot of money to spend and like good seafood, this is the place for you.
Be the first to ReplyFirst of all - this restaurant is OPEN.
Secondly, the food is AMAZING. We ordered so much food, and it was all so good. We got the Bacon Bays, the Clams Casino, a 1lb boiled lobster, and a lobster roll. So delicious. The lobster was perfectly cooked and fell out of the shell. The appetizers were amazing. The bacon wrapped scallops were poppable and addictive. The clams casino were savory and warm. 10/10 recommend for seafood in Nantucket.

This review is for their food truck, not their bricks-and-mortar establishment. I encountered the truck last fall at Cisco Brewers and couldn't pass up the opportunity to see what a Nantucket take on familiar New England items like lobster rolls would be.Indeed, at $25, the lobster roll didn't come cheap, yet it wasn't unreasonably priced for a captive, event-based option. There was a very modest amount of lobster inside, accented nicely with a ginger-horseradish aioli. It was OK - not mindblowing, but not bad either. Similarly, the Nantucket "bacon bays" - 7 pieces of scallop wrapped in bacon and complemented with aioli and lemon - were a bit petite for the $15. Not unreasonable, but these certainly weren't whole scallops either. The wait wasn't unreasonable given the hordes of preppy revelers crowding the venue. Again, not bad for a captive option, but, having spent much of the afternoon on foot exploring Nantucket, I was roaringly hungry and wolfed it all down in an instant, with room in my tummy to spare.

Some of the best lobster I have had in a long time that includes the Clams and Mussels. We live in South Carolina and the shrimp they served as and appetizer were as good as any that came off Forest Gump's Shrimper!!!! Cannot say enough about the service.....Most Excellent thank you!!!

When you make it through the onions there is good-sized and a good amount, of lobster meat. Well-proportioned mayo. Just so much onion. The chowder is good, but not amazing. Though, it is thick and has a solid amount of clams and potatoes so it's still pretty good.

We were super excited to try The Lobster Trap while visiting Nantucket. We dined in on a Sunday night. We had made reservations but it was not busy at all and were seated promptly. We chose to eat outside on the patio since it was a ย pretty Fall evening. We started with drinks and the calamari appetizer ( we wanted the bacon wrapped scallops but were informed they were out)The calamari was ok- nothing special by any means. The beers were cold though a tad pricey .We heard that we needed to try the stuffed lobster at least once. I decided to get a regular 1.5 pound steamed lobster and my husband had the stuffed lobster. Both came with a side. It takes quite some time for the baked/stuffed lobster so be prepared to wait. They present the streamed lobster in a unique way! I was just excited to get the bib :)The steamed lobster was good with the warm drawn butter. The stuffed lobster was not to my liking at all and I'm glad I didn't get it too. It had way too much dry breading ( or whatever it was) making the whole thing not good. My husband is not normally picky and even he didn't love it :( He forced himself to finish it ( scraping off most of the stuffing )At the end of dinner our bill was given to us when I noticed a $6 charge for a side salad. I asked our server about it and he was kind of rude and condescending. He never mentioned an up charge for the salad I didn't even want. He told me to pick to sides and offered the salad as one. I chose a house salad with ranch dressing and got a Caesar salad instead ( they were out of ranch apparently) I could see he didn't give a crap and wasn't even apologetic in any way. He simply walked off.All in all it was ok dinner. Nothing to rave about- maybe that's why they weren't busy at all

This Eatery offers a menu of mostly lobster , crustaceans , sandies and salads. a good alternative to the haute cuisine places around town, It's ย Joe bob's kinda place where he can just have a clam bake or steamers with a beer after having a martini....Joe Bob says check it out and gives it a thumbs up for straight forward crustacean food

I've never given six stars to a restaurant so I wasn't sure how. So I posted the one, and I hope Yelp assumes the other five. Anyway, from the start this restaurant was just what we needed. First, because of its reputation it was the only place we could get into on a Saturday in August. Thank goodness after all these years more people don't like it it or we couldn't have gotten in here either! Second, though we were six adults, and the restaurant was almost completely empty, the hostess seated us at a table for 3 (by adding a chair in the aisle where servers walked by throughout the meal). This helped us all grow closer as a family, since we had to interlock our knees under the table and coordinate movements like "I'm going to switch legs now" and "I'm going to eat now so don't move your right arm." It was the kind of physical proximity we could ordinarily only get in coach class on an airplane. (And the meal cost a little less than plane tickets.) Plus the table was right between the kitchen and bathrooms so the food got right to us. Next, because I asked for a different table, the manager, who initially tried to throw us out, applied an automatic twenty percent tip to our bill. Again, exactly what we needed. It took all the guesswork and math out of trying to calculate a tip. Not that we would have given less. The server was. (Not a typo- he just was.) To encourage us to eat our food the old fashioned way, he didn't bring us silverware until after the food was served. That was fun! Like being a kid again. He also didn't bring the bottle of wine we ordered until dessert. If he'd brought it when we initially ordered it, we probably would have had another bottle and spent way too much money - or gotten a little tipsy. (We walked to the restaurant but still...) ย So kudos to that waiter, who had little nicknames for each of us. Like "big guy" for me, since I've put on a few during COVID, "lovely lady" for my 20 year old daughter, "dear" for my stepmother, and "boss man" for my son. It made each of us feel so special- like we were on an authentic Southern Plantation! ย Then there's the food. I didn't know I could appreciate undercooked fried clams so much. The batter was still so doughy and gooey that I didn't get that guilty feeling I usually get when i eat crispy fried food. It was like raw clams with cake batter on them. Very unique take on a traditional dish. Sorry: One bit of criticism just so the place doesn't seem too good to be true: the cookies in the ice cream dessert are dry. I don't recommend it. But now I'm just nitpicking. Focusing on the positive again, after dinner we all had a nice walk home- and after only 50 minutes! They had us in and out of there so quickly - because they promised our table to three people with a 9pm reservation- that we were able to get on with our night and not linger on the hard wood benches we'd been squeezed into. Just when I thought our Lobster Trap experience was over- at 1215am- I was awakened by my stomach, as the whole delicious meal was moving up to my throat. ย Thank you, Lobster Trap, for this. See, I'd bought some Pepcid a couple of years ago. And it's been just sitting in the medicine cabinet. But because of the quality of all the great restaurants up here I've never had a chance to test it out. It took going to the Lobster Trap to find out the Pepcid was a waste of money. Even though I took two tablets, I still threw up those fried clams, and the tiniest bacon wrapped scallops I've ever seen. I actually wasn't even sure there were scallops inside the bacon on the toothpicks when I ate them. But at about 1am, I finally saw them. So shame on Pepcid. And thank you again Lobster Trap! It was just what I needed!
Be the first to ReplyService was friendly and food was overall tasty.
However, we did not feel the food or the ambience justified the high prices. $18 for a kids meal consisting of 5 shrimp and French fries is simply ridiculous.

We had an excellent dinner here! Our waiter (Louis) was friendly and on top of everything we asked him. Service here was excellent which we had found lacking on other restaurants on the island. A few of us got the chowder, which was delicious. For entrees we got lobster and scallop rolls. Both were very good. We would definitely come back here in the future!

Came here twice, because we had such a wonderful experience! Staff is so friendly and welcoming. I'm not a huge seafood person, so I got baked chicken instead of haddock, and it was so yummy! My boyfriend had the lobster roll and he said it's the best he's ever had! Highly recommend :)

Why pay less? $100 lunch for 2 is getting away cheap. So you might as well enjoy, eat well and eat whatever you want. I came here for the "Connecticut Style" Lobster Roll ($34). Claw and Tail meat served warm in a nice crisp roll. MEATY, they pack it well with TASTY, DELICIOUS, Lobster. Every bite was ECSTASY. The Coleslaw was very good, could have given a larger portion. The French fries were crisp outside and tender inside. The best I have had in Cape Cod. My girlfriend chose the fried Scallops Roll ($28) and she was pleased. Again served up with Coleslaw and French fries. For a starter we tried something new. Steamer Clams ($25) that you remove from the shell, swish them around in a broth to remove sand and grit, dip into butter and enjoy! I am glad we tried them. Service was friendly and efficient. Bathroom was clean and odorless. Make sure that you have a big breakfast on shore before coming here for the day. Any restaurant you choose for lunch or dinner on the island is going to be wicked expensive.
