Good food and good service.
We sat in the shaded outdoor area . One of the better restaurants in Funk Zone.

Everything from the food, the service, and the ambiance was immaculate. Definitely worth the drive even if you're coming from out of town! The cornbread and the pork ribs blew my mind!

The Lark has a charming outdoor eating area that welcomes diners with vertical greenery and outdoor heaters allowing ambiance and comfort to be in tact even on chilly evenings. The menu offers a variety of flavor combinations and after tasting many appetizers and main dishes, all are filled with unique ingredients and masterful flavor profiles. The Brussels sprouts were incredibly flavorful with chopped dates providing a sweet balance to the savory sauté or roasting oils and spices. The fried chicken was a huge winner as the crispy breading was perfection. The service was fantastic and they helped us decide the perfect amount of food to order and their suggestions were very helpful!

The Lark in Santa Barbara is hands down the best place to eat in town! Every time we go, the atmosphere just blows us away--so inviting and perfect for any special occasion or a romantic date night. Although it's not the cheapest option in town, every dish is worth it, making it my go-to spot for a fun night in SB. The service here is always top-notch; you feel taken care of from the moment you walk in. And the food? Absolutely impeccable. It doesn't matter what you pick from the menu, it's going to be delicious. My personal favorites are the brown butter cornbread and the hope ranch mussels--they're out of this world! Also, if you're here in the right season and looking for a cocktail, the Summerland is incredible. If you like Whiskey, it's the perfect drink to start off a memorable evening. I can't recommend The Lark enough. If you find yourself in Santa Barbara, make sure you give it a try--you won't regret it!

Came for brunch in the hipster "funk zone" area, at the fairly well-known restaurant, The Lark, for my first time. Service was friendly and great, although our food came out a bit slower than expected. Still, the hostess, waitress and bussers were all informative, fun and kind. The food was fantastic! My spouse loved the shakshuka, as it was powerfully flavorful with cast iron to have that roasted touch. We could've done without the green olives in it, but more for personal taste. My chicken and waffles were also excellent. The waffles were surprisingly light and crispy, with some heavy honey butter to kick you in the mouth. Fried chicken was good. We enjoyed our mimosa flight- particularly with the sparkling wine/champagne served in a separate chilled container to dole out for the flavors (pomegranate, grapefruit, orange and cranberry, iirc). All the other sides like the oyster and hangover fries were well-suited to curb any remaining appetites. Love the decor too, particularly in the booths. Very charming, and classy, while still chill. Easy to find this restaurant nestled with other shops, pastries and coffee. Definitely would come again!

Welcome to the most below average dining experience of your life... Showed up and seemed like no one was prepared to have us there. Staff was nice. Seemed like the hostess was doing more than she is paid for and entertained us while our waitress lagged. Super awkward experience all around server was okay. After reading all this and you still decide on coming here for dinner, get the brussel sprouts. They were the only thing that impressed us for our grand total of $240 (for 2 of us) So disappointing
Be the first to ReplyWe sat outside.
It is a great patio area and sheltered from any wind. The food was exceptional. It was the best meal we had in Santa Barbara. Our group started with several small plates, including beets, crudo and Brussels sprout's. For the main course we tried the fried chicken, pork ribs and fish. The fried chicken was fantastic. Everyone loved everything we ordered. The service was top notch as well. Highly recommend The Lark for a nice evening at an upscale but casual restaurant that epitomizes Santa Barbara.

The lark's ambiance was very cozy and vibey but that might have been my favorite thing about the experience. We got the beet salad, the catch of the day, and the brown butter corn bread. The cornbread was my favorite of the three but even that didn't blow me away. Service was fine, but we probably won't return just because there wasn't any standout dish for us.
Be the first to ReplyThis is such a great place in Santa Barbara.
We first visited a few years ago and loved the food, but didn't have outstanding service or a great table location. It still didn't ruin our experience. During this visit, we had a different yet equally bad seating location, but the service was perfect, and the food was delicious! We tried the cornbread (DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!), the Brussels Sprouts (yum!), the oysters (Skip this one, it was the only let-down of the night), the ribs (Great), and the Mussels (Ridiculously tasty!). We finished with a delicious matcha ice cream with macadamia nuts and coconut. Manager, Patricia, was so welcoming and made sure that we had a great experience, and we sincerely appreciated it. 100% recommended restaurant in Santa Barbara.

My wife and I made a reservation here to try out their coastal and Texas-inspired dining experience with shareable plates. The food comes out as it is prepped and the expectations were set high but fell a little bit flat towards the end. Time and Tide - A herby vodka cocktail with mellow citrus to start and a slight bitterness finish. Easy to sip on throughout the meal with not too strong flavors Crispy Brussel Sprouts - Incredibly savory first bite with umami and acid on the first bite! Brussels sprouts are cooked crispy in the outside yet tender on the inside. Tastes like soy sauce, lime, and a little bit of spicy kick. Handcut Pappardelle Pasta - A light carbonara sauce on firm pasta. Seasoned well and the citrus breadcrumbs add a nice depth of tang and crunch to each bite. 6 Hour Smoked Duroc Pork Spare Ribs - Taste and texture really varies on this one. I had an end piece that was tough and dry, but I also had a rib that was tender and fatty. Decent smokiness on the first bite with a mild kick at the end. Coleslaw was creamy and compliments the dish but nothing out of the ordinary. Service and advice on navigating the menu was easy thanks to our server Corina. I could've ordered the not as popular dishes but I wanted to try something different than the seafood items. Maybe I'll come back for those next time.

It was my first time here for brunch, and it was good! We ordered the burrata and the sticky bun to start, which were both amazing. I recommend getting both of those. I got the chicken and waffle for my main dish, and it was good but I think I wanted a little bit more chicken. The cocktails were good! Loved sitting out on their patio in such nice weather.

Beautiful place! Delicious food! We stopped for a quick lunch and were beyond impressed by the scrumptious offerings from the chef! We ordered the oysters (fresh, flavorful, delicious), avocado tartine (delicious), burrata (such a subtle flavor with extremely sweet local strawberries), and shrimp and grits that left me speechless and craving for more southern food! Our server Zach was so great, taking care of everything and everyone at the table! Great hospitality and amazing service overall! We will definitely be back next week to try the rest of the menu!
Be the first to ReplyThank you John for being sweet and relatable.
When it comes to dining, thoughtful recommendations and guidance make all the difference and John did this for us. It was our anniversary and he gave us unprompted complimentary champagne. It feels amazing to be treated well and the food was exceptional. We'll definitely be returning. The Brussel sprouts and mezcal cocktails are a must try!

Our server John must have over heard that it was outer anniversary and brought us complimentary champagne . He was very knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations. Great experience. And amazing service. Get the Brussels sprouts, you won't be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyThe best dinner we had in SB.
At first we thought it was a tad pricey, but the chicken was a good portion size. Boneless chicken thighs breaded to perfection. The fresh catch, tuna, was also delicious.Cornbread was buttery and paired with the chicken- though very rich. Oysters were solid- the selection changes. The sauce paired with them was great. Our waiter was the best. Overall perfect for a date night.

Been here a few times including most recently for a larger group event. First off, it's a very cool vibe located down in the Funk Zone area of town, with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. If you're outdoor it's largely covered and with heaters so you can generally be out in all seasons.Service was very good, especially for the most recent larger group dinner. That can be hard sometimes, but I was impressed how attentive our waiter was and the broader service team.Food is generally very good, but there are some highlights and some meh IMO. The highlights are brussels sprouts, brown butter cornbread (note heavy on the butter!), fried chicken (though boneless) with grits and ahi tuna and the olive oil cake. Not my fave were the pimento texas toast and tuscan kale salad. Definitely one of the best places in SB for dinner, solid recommend.
Be the first to ReplyI'll be thinking about this food for a long time to come.
We were there for Sunday brunch. Pictured: arugula salad, garlic fries, pork belly Benedict, and chicken and waffles.

We were told to eat here from the tasting room worker at Epiphany in Los Olivos. They were so right. Place is amazing. Great food. Have brought people for work dinners here. I consider this a do not miss in SB.

Held a wedding rehearsal dinner last weekend in Lark's private room. The service, food and atmosphere could not have been better. Walking through the main restaurant was a little too-Funk Zone unless under the age of 30, but the private dining room was just right: not ostentatious or pretentious but handsome and welcoming. Eli (the bartender and co-server) was the friendliest, most down to earth professional we met in all of our 5 days in Santa Barbara. The beer and wine flowed and a glass never stayed empty for more than 30 seconds. And the food: wow, just wow. The fried chicken, the kale (I HATE kale but this stuff was terrific!) the squash ... every course was exquisite and imaginative. Special thank you to Megan (special events coordinator) for making this a night to remember for the next-day newlyweds and for us as the parents of the groom. If six starts could be given, Lark would deserve seven.

Great ambiance inside not going to lie!It took 15 minutes just to get water, the hangover fries were undercooked, the sourdough and cinnamon butter was subpar, the shrimp and grits was flavorful but for $34 I would expect perfectly cooked shrimp and more than 4 of them (that wasn't the case for "family style dishes").I want to say the drink was the best part and that says a lot especially I had to remind them of it after all of the food came out.

Received a recommendation from a local to dine at this restaurant. Outdoor seating was not available because of the weather, but it seems like it would be a pleasurable experience. The portions are large enough to be shared. We ordered the cornbread, kale salad and the hanger steak. All of the items were excellent. My wife had a mocktail, which she really enjoyed. This is a great spot to go on a date or take out the family. I would definitely repeat and recommend to friends/family who travel to Santa Barbara.

Maybe this ought to be two stars because I don't think we'll go here again. Food was mostly OK (pro tip: stay away from the hollandaise); service was terrible. They claim the menu is all "shared plates" which it really isn't - that's just an excuse so they can bring respective dishes whenever they feel like it. The patio in the sun was nice, though, which maybe is why they thought they could get away by barely paying attention.
