We dined there tonight for dinner with another couple.
Atmosphere is nice,, casual Italian theme. We had a late lunch so we weren't extremely hungry. We ordered a bottle of wine and decided to split a Chicken Piccata entree. It was bland in flavor and the Chicken portion was very tiny. Would have complained if we weren't with new friends. When the bill came they had overcharged us for the wine. Waitress stated that prices had changed and refused to do anything about it until I found the menu that stated the price I had seen when I ordered from. They still overcharged me a few dollars and we just let it go. Based on bland flavor, portion size, etc we won't return. There are many better Italian restaurants in Sarasota.
Be the first to ReplyI ordered Eggplant Parmesan to go.
it wasn't even edible. eggplant not cooked. tough and chewy. sauce had no flavor - worse than store-bought sauce in a jar - terrible meal. I would have sent it back if I was in the resta. this place used to be good. no more.

The burrata salad and eggplant Parmesan were delicious. The restaurant ambience is great. It looks like a hole in the wall place but it's not! We will bring our friends here soon.

my husband's chicken marsala was very small like a child's portion and my sauce has so much oil it wasn't good. Last time we went my husband did not get his salad so they gave us a couple of Zeppoli's. The manager didn't seem to care.

Way too much for this type of restaurant. Never go back. Not worth it.

Food is great and awesome give you a lot of food they give you and chicken Parmesan is a plus it's real chicken Parmesan and not that baked meat. All the other food is delicious as well but my favorite thing is chicken Parm so and pasta it comes with and it comes with a small salad, which is pretty good for the price not that it's not too expensive , food is very good. I give it a five star.

I have been to the Italian Grill a few times through the years. It was always a good reliable place. Went on feb.of 24 .They have really stepped up their game. A new look ,service was great and everyone loved their food. Place was packed and now I know why.
Be the first to ReplyA pleasant atmosphere with good service and moderate prices.
However, the food was just okay. The calamari was the star- tender, crispy and not oily. The chicken piccata was flavorful but heavy coated with flour making it slightly mushy and gummy. The veggies were cooked a little beyond Al dente. The blue cheese salad dressing was flavorless. The complimentary zeppolis were heavy and 'dripping' with oil. Friend enjoyed the grilled salmon, another had chicken scarpariello which she enjoyed after ordering a side of spaghetti to balance it. Pricier but far superior ( in my opinion) for Italian food is La Violetta in Sarasota.

Delicious food. Great atmosphere. If you haven't tried this restaurant since the new owner took over you are missing a great experience.
Be the first to ReplyThis is our favorite "go to" restaurant.
It's really 5 star to us but recently they've added very annoying head pounding background music! Who the heck wants that music while trying to relax and enjoy a drink and a meal! Shut it off PLEASE!!!!

Casual, but very popular, Italian spot with a large menu of very delicious food! Both a bar and dining area, but when I came on a Friday night both were packed! I got a personal-sized pepperoni pizza, and it was incredible! One of the better pizza's I've ever had. It was very large as well Servers were a little overwhelmed with the amount of patrons, but they were still very friendly and our food came out quickly. The owners come around to greet every table as well. Complimentary bread, + mini donut for dessert, that were delicious
Be the first to ReplyWent to this place for the first time for my birthday.
At first, we thought it was going to be great. Had our drinks and appetizers right away, and order for dinner was in before our appetizer arrived. The calamari was fantastic. But then, over an hour later, our dinner still had not come. The guy who appeared to be the manager or owner noticed we were waiting a long time and asked us about it. Their excuse was there were several pizzas ordered. But we got there early (5:00) and there was no crowd. The waitress did not check on us but once during this hour. Finally the food came and it was mediocre. No attempt was made to make up for the long wait/horrible service. I would only recommend this place for drinks and an appetizer....not for a nice dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGreat local friendly place where you feel like a family
Great local friendly place where you feel like a family when Marta greets you. She's a fantastic manager! Always asks if you are happy & do you like your dishes? There are many reasonably priced delicious entrées & terrific pizzas. If you love pizza this is your place!! Live music on 1st & 3rd thursdays with J Santi- east listening !! The bartender Sierra mad great manhattans! Too

We just had a very bad chicken piccata, it was tough and when we told the mgr he said they use best ingredients. Also, they charged us for it. We will NOT be backService was good too bad for them, try other placesThis is definitely a once and done, too many good restaurants here.
Be the first to ReplyAte here last night and it was just average.
The owners are nice but the place needs updating and the food was just lukewarm. Our server didn't follow up ask if everything was okay.

We dined at the Italian Grill on an absolutely slammed Saturday night. Even with the crowd, we showed up without a reservation and the hostess immediately found us a table for two. The staff is excellent! I started off dinner with a perfect martini. Kudos to the bartender! An appetizer of Italian wedding soup was nothing really special. I won't be ordering it again. The entrée more than made up for the appetizer! I tried their eggplant Parmesan with a side of spaghetti. The eggplant was crispy, not greasy at all, and very flavorful. The side of pasta was very good, nicely done spaghetti with a very nice sauce. The owner made it a point to stop by our table as we were finishing our meal and treated us to some complementary Lemoncello's. Overall, a very nice experience, and I will definitely be going back.

Service wasn't good because server wasn't paying attention to us. Didn't bring our drink orders right away.
Be the first to ReplyI have been a resident of Vero Beach for a little over 30
I have been a resident of Vero Beach for a little over 30 years. Upon moving here from Queens NY one of the first things on the list was to find a really good Italian restaurant needless to say the Italian Grill became our place to go. I've lost count how many times my family and I have eaten there it became my favorite restaurant to go to. There was a time I took care of a elderly man who lives in a retirement facility and once a week he would have me take him there so he could order their spaghetti & meatball dish said they were second best to the ones he use to eat in NY. The last few years I have gone there to eat but everytime I go I notice a change. Let me explain this restaurant doesn't have to advertise its a word of mouth type of place with many regulars. The food is still good but feel it's time to change or add to the menu. The portions are still plenty & love that usually you will have a to go box upon leaving. My family went there tonight and usually gor large parties they sit you in the back room which is where we were seated. First they need to brighten that room some it's way to dim even wearing glasses not enough lighting. The waiter was a male usually have female waitresses and he barely spoke no personality didn't try the least bit to interact with us on any level I don't even think he asked if we wanted dessert. He never asked if anyone wanted more water or another cocktail. My biggest disappointment was the antipasto dish. I counted 3 rolled pieces of ham and 2 rolled up pieces of cheese and the rest of dish looked like pile of mush peppers & stringbeans. I remember years ago they had an abundance of the ham & cheese on the platter There was 8 of us when the bread was served I knew there was something different right away it was not the bread they usually served the many times I've been there first time I saw where 3 baskets had bread left it seemed like they used hoagie rolls sliced very dry. All in all my dish was good I had tge chicken picata. Maybe it's just the younger kids today who don't really know how to communicate any more because their phones have taken over their lives. They need to change the scenery in that back room and lighten it up some.
Be the first to ReplyWe have always loved this restaurant and sent many
We have always loved this restaurant and sent many customers there since the new owners took over but last night 2 food items were not up to par and I am so disappointed. The best pizza in all of sarasota county except for last night . We ordered the margarita pizza and sandwich tomatoes came out and we're not cooked. They were barely warm. I had their margarita pizza in the past and they used a smaller (Roma?)Tomato which was cooked under an oven seasoned well....wonderful. My husband was really looking forward to the Chicken Marsala.. the sauce was thick and very dark brown, chicken was overdone and very bland. We had guests and didn't want to send anything back since we bragged about the pizza and food. The Caesar salad with anchovies was out of this world good!!! I am told they make their own dressing. I will give it one more try and hope it's back to normal.

This was a find for us. Full bar, ample seating in the bar side or dining room. Friendly and inviting wait staff. We shared the Bruschetta and enjoyed a very flavorful onion, garlic, tomato on a toasted crostini with balsamic glaze. Perfect start to our evening of dinning. Manhattan and Cosmo were great. Luxardo cherries in the Manhattan not maraschino, nice. Small Caesar salads were flavorful, and not your typical. They have a homemade Italian bread served with the chefs secret blend of Italian herbs and spices from with olive oil that was amazing. Don't overdue here save room for your entire.Pasta Puttanesca - spicy was excellent with a light red sauce. Chicken Marsala was another wise choice and equally delicious. We shared a tiramisu finishing with an espresso and cappuccino. We were treated to their homemade zeppole. Rob the owner greeted us on our way out and introduced us to the chef. We will be back and recommend The Italian Grill to locals and snowbirds. You will not be disappointed.

You get a great portion for the price, even for lunch I always leave with food for later. I love the chicken parm.
