Date of visit: Saturday 8th February.
My family travelled from Leicester for a special celebratory birthday meal for my brother. There were 11 of us in the party including 3 children and one baby 6 months old. Our table was reserved for 8pm but we had to wait 30 mins before being seated.
We were seated on a round table next to the kitchen. Once seated, we noticed a table of similar size next to us but against the wall. We requested if we could move to the table against the wall since we had children with us including a baby on a high chair. We thought this could be more comfortable for our party. A waiter in our area said that was no problem and sat us down on the table against the wall. 10 mins later an irate waitress said we couldn’t sit there since the table was reserved. We explained we’d asked and had been told this was ok. She then walked away in a strop half way through a conversation!
This left us feeling upset since she was so rude. And not to mention, the original table could seat the same number of people.
Moving on, our order wasn’t taken until 30 mins later and our food didn’t arrive until 40 mins after that! So it was 9.45 before our meals arrived. Kids meals arrived first which was a huge disappointment. The pasta was literally bland pasta with plain tomato sauce. It was inedible!
When our steaks arrived, all of which we’d asked - we ordered grain fed fillet and rib-eye (not cheap at around £50 a meal!) for nearly all of us with sides. We all asked for medium cooked. As you know, with steak if it is not cooked to how you ask, it’s not the meal you ordered and makes all the difference.
The steak was not medium but rather well done. Not pink inside. We mentioned this to the waiter and he called a manager who took 15 mins to arrive and we were so hungry that we continued with our meal but hadn’t even eaten half.
‘Linda’ agreed it wasn’t medium but since we had eaten some, she couldn’t do anything about it. To be honest we were absolutely livid.
She didn’t apologise about the behaviour from the waitress at the start and when she returned again later with the bill, she expected us to be happy that she had discounted £20 from the bill on a bill of £350.
Shame that this is how you value customer service. Needless to say I won’t be visiting this restaurant ever again and will do my best to talk others out of visiting too. There’s plenty of choice in London who value their service to their customers better than this terrible restaurant do!
