We were so excited to try this restaurant however the food

1/5 by 👻 @Monica P. on 04/19/2024

We were so excited to try this restaurant however the food and service were such a let down. Our meal took almost 2 hours to complete as our server didn't know the kitchen was out of soft shell crabs and let 30+ minutes go by without telling us. Our second choice of fish collar was also no longer an option. Our cheese board arrived at the end of our meal as the server forgot that we ordered this item. The simple request of ice for our water was never honored and we gave up asking (we felt lucky to even have water as they never offered to fill our glasses or recognize that our bottle was empty). We even had to flag down someone to ask for our bill, even though multiple staff members had retired to the bar right next to us and were literally ignoring us.... Not the elevated experience we were at expecting at this highly esteemed restaurant.

My mother and I came in after 8pm on a Sunday evening.

2/5 by 👻 @Caroline M. on 04/15/2024

While later in the weekend, they take reservations up till 8:30. This is an important note for this space: if you take reservations and are a honored space, make sure you can keep up the output. Our initial greetings and pre- waitstaff interactions were wonderful. A few ambiance notes: the light from the kitchen is a stark juxtaposition to the amber lighting: it is blinding. With photophobia, we had to switch seats which they did in a timely manner. The lights go on every hour in remembrance of Ahmed Aburey which is a beautiful and important piece of the meal. Our waiter was kind and very obviously proud of where he worked however he was not as attentive and timely as one would hope or expect for this restaurant. The drinks and wine list are amazing. Once we got our order taken, after a bit of a wait, we were informed that they were out of many things- including the dish my mom had been excited for. They did open two options on the tasting menu for us and comped us some side dishes. After the meal we discussed that also in the end the action for them would have been to make the tasting meal options a bit larger instead of telling my mom that she would not like the portion (a single scallop and for me a single lamb chop-very very small) while being out of many many other options...a very small menu to be out of a number of options, specifically in the meal range...in the end our spirits and excitement for this highly anticipated meal were not met. Also, We did get the strawberry cake desert which was deliciously fresh fruit but even with the cornbread layer a bit dry. We however were not given the complimentary ice pops that we saw most other diners getting. Jack our helper was perfect. Attentive and kind. We wish we had opted to grab a drink and some oysters in the very well done front bar room. Pros: The narrative of the space and connection to the local food community is impeccable. The drinks And the food, as long as they don't run out. Cons: The service was spotty They were out of food...food we had waited 2 months for... Felt like a burden at times to expect better service.

I was not expecting to be so bowled over by a meal but I

5/5 by 👻 @Sondra M. on 04/13/2024

I was not expecting to be so bowled over by a meal but I can honestly say I've never had better food! We've eaten at James Beard award winning and Michelin starred restaurants, but The Grey was phenomenal! The cosmos were ice cold and perfect! We ordered the asparagus with a lemon vinaigrette as an appetizer and it was delicious but the star of the show was the ribeye (served by the ounce and shared) with compound butter and grilled lemon). Cooked perfectly medium rare, the steak was mouthwatering! We ordered the smashed new potatoes with it, which were actually crusted and deep fried. If you are hesitant about going to the The Grey, just go! It was without a doubt the best meal we've ever had!

Excellent meal!

5/5 by 👻 @Robert K on 04/12/2024

The Grey is an amazing dining experience. They did a great job communicating from scheduling the reservation through the meal itself. The Grey serves elevated southern cuisine, specifically lowcountry. The food is excellent. I ordered the roasted chicken with escarole, chicken jus, and garlic trencher; smoked collards; the Mango Clarified Milk Punch; Folo de Pubá. The chicken dish was perfectly roasted and expertly executed. The smoked collards were delicious. The Milk Punch was well made and worked well with the rest of the meal. The Folo de Pubá is a Brazilian corn meal cake with orange buttercream frosting and macerated strawberries. It was a perfect cap to an amazing meal!

The Grey is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at,

5/5 by 👻 @Jacques I. on 04/05/2024

The Grey is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at, and I've eaten at A LOT of restaurants, my friends. I'm so glad that we were able to dine at The Grey during my too-short of a visit in Savannah. This is one of the best restaurants in Savannah, the south and the U.S. Eat here! After booking a trip to Savannah, I tried to book a reservation for The Grey, which was very difficult, so had no such luck. So when we arrived to Savannah on Friday, we came right at opening, hoping to at least sit in the bar. However, we learned from the staff that the bar was closed that night for a private event. Therefore, we asked about any openings at all for the weekend, and they were able to book us for a reservation on Sunday right at opening. SOLD. We arrived on Sunday at opening for dinner service and were immediately seated for our reservation. First of all, the restaurant is in an old Greyhound bus depot, so you can see much of this reflected in the restaurant today. Absolutely stunning. Where people would've purchased their bus tickets is a window into the kitchen. Love this! And all of the art deco vibes here. Ambiance takes you back in time. Jordan was our server for the night and he was super friendly and hospitable. He made recommendations for us and was knowledgeable about the menu. Service was phenomenal. It's fine dining, but it doesn't feel stuffy or snooty at all. For the three of us, we started with cocktails and shared all the food. Nothing was short of perfect. Everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered the lamb and beef tartare, red rice balls, fried pumpkin, turnip cakes, whole grilled market fish and beef short ribs. I can't even pick a favorite because it was all delightful. Anything you order here will be amazing. They do offer a prix fixe menu that is a limited quantity. Although we didn't get dessert, we had complimentary ice pops, an homage to head chef Mashama Bailey's childhood and the perfect way to end a meal at The Grey. I would only be so lucky to eat at The Grey again whenever I'm back in Savannah. This was truly a wonderful meal and experience of elevated, local, southern food in a city that I've recently discovered and love.

Best meal in Savannah

Best meal in Savannah! The story of The Grey is great, and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful - you can see the history, but it's been successfully repurposed. The food was great, especially the crab beignets, and it really felt like elevated southern food, based in tradition but with a modern twist. Definitely make a reservation in advance!

Perfect Night Out

5/5 by 👻 @DaisyDot24 on 03/24/2024

We came on a Friday night and opted ahead of time for the chefs table. We were seated at the bar with others doing the set menu as well and it was great. It was very interactive with the bartenders, chefs, sommelier. They had great cocktail and wine pairing recommendations. The food was tremendous! For $125 a person it was a lot of food, we both left full and I had to pass on most of my dessert I was just so full. The pumpkin soup with foie gras and lamb chop were the highlights but it was all superb. I would eat here every night if I could, it definitely deserves to be in the top of Savannah dining selections!

The Grey is a really innovative and cool restaurant housed

5/5 by 👻 @Cam F. on 03/22/2024

The Grey is a really innovative and cool restaurant housed in the old Greyhound bus terminal (hence, the name). The menu apparently changes virtually every night, so there's little point in looking at the menu on the website to preplan, because what you'll see when you go will almost certainly be different than the menu on the website. But it will all be delicious and interesting. Everything we had, from oysters to halibut, was excellent. And we will go back when next we are in Savannah!

Over salted, over hyped and over priced.

1/5 by 👻 @Rebecca M. on 03/21/2024

Disappointed for such an iconic restaurant i had watched the Netflix documentary and was looking forward to great things. The oysters were so small. Never in my life have I seen such a poor excuse for an oyster, seriously! We didn't eat three of them because they were so tiny we didn't bother and just had them cleared from the table. The shrimps we ordered as a starter were forgotten about and so we only received them when we told the server we hadn't had them yet (as mains were being finished). The bottle of rose that they take away to put on ice we were constantly having to stop our waitress to ask to get it and be topped up. Service was lackluster and lacking to the point of being almost non existent. No apologies were made for our missing shrimp, portion sizes were tiny, prices were extremely high and everything that I had contained so much salt I could barely eat it. The atmosphere inside was nice, loved the decor and thought it was very well thought out. That is my only positive

The Grey is hands down phenomenal.

One of the best meals I had while in Savannah in one of the most unique venues I've ever been to. Every element was great, from the awesome and attentive service, the drinks (and the story behind the mixology), the the family style apps and main courses, all the way to the dessert. The Grey did not disappoint. And the experience was elevated by the unique ambiance of the retro surroundings that help you go back in time. Highly recommend adding this to your next night out in Savannah.

All presented in such an ambient venue made it a truly special & enjoyable night out.

I read great reviews - not just on Yelp but everywhere -

5/5 by 👻 @David K. on 03/20/2024

I read great reviews - not just on Yelp but everywhere - but the menu was cryptic, divided into sections "Dirt", "Water", "Pasture", and "Pantry" with not much description so I threw caution to the wind and went for the chef's tasting menu instead. Glad I did; quite an experience. These menus change from day to day so every meal is a surprise. Substitutions are usually not possible on a tasting menu. The waiter asked if I had any allergies or food aversions. I told him I will try almost anything once but I'm not into fois gras (some reviews mentioned they use it on occasion). Wouldn't you know, the second course was titled "Fois Gras" but he told me it was just one component in the dish, a pumpkin soup. Would they have left it out if I asked? Probably. Would they have substituted an entirely different dish? Unsure. I wasn't going to lose out on one course of this rather expensive 5-course meal so I said ok. Turns out it really should have been titled "Dutch Fork Pumpkin Soup" because that was the dominant component. The small slab of seared fois gras on top could have been entirely omitted in my opinion with no loss. But it really was quite good. Don't hate me. In fact, each of the 5 courses was outstanding, without qualification. Which you want to eat slowly and thoughtfully, trying to identify flavors that seem to change with every bite. I was there 2 and 1/4 hours. That's a long time to be sitting at a bar counter. I never got bored or restless even though I was dining solo. I kept busy watching people and taking notes on my iPhone. My neighbor to my left was also alone so I tried a few attempts at conversation. He was also taking notes, the old-fashioned way - in a notebook. I didn't get much out of him other than he was from NYC, needed to get away, and was working on his travel journal. When he left before me I wished him well on his travels and he did the same. I don't know if this is the rule or exception with tasting menus but every diner was allowed to proceed at their own pace. I expected everybody would be served together. But this way is much better in my opinion. An impulsive decision to add the wine pairing turned this to my most expensive meal ever. 5 wines (1/2 glass pours so it was manageable), selected to go with each course. This option exactly doubled the cost. Was it worth it? Well, these were all exceptional wines and which I would have never tried ordinarily, and are never available by the glass. Each wine is delivered a few minutes before the course is served by the sommelier, each in a glass appropriate for the style. He shows me the bottle, tells me a few things about the wine, and answers questions if I have any. I'm no wine expert, so I mostly didn't have any but one I liked so much (Domaine Gachot-Monot, Pinot Noir, Cotes de Nuits 2021) that I asked him where to find it. He asked where I was from (Massachusetts) and was able to tell me immediately the U.S. distributor (Kermit Lynch). Without a doubt an expert in his trade. So yes, it was worth it, but I won't be doing this often. My waiter, behind the bar, also served as bartender for this, the smaller of the two bars. I dealt more with the sommelier and the runners, but he was constantly keeping my water filled (no chlorine taste, whether it was bottled or filtered I don't know), checking up on me, and always available to answer questions. The room: very loud but fun. Very dark. Had to use my phone light often. It's a converted Greyhound bus terminal (hence the name) but so transformed you would hardly know except for some original signs (I was seated near "Gate 2"). Music: Patti Smith, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, etc. As I said, the food was complex and my descriptions won't do it justice. So I'll just copy the menu notes here verbatim. It's not listed online because it changes day by day but will give you an idea what to expect. 1. SCALLOP CRUDO - collard green aguachile, celery, chives 2. FOIS GRAS - dutch fork pumpkin soup, apple, green tomato & okra relish 3. BABA GHANOUSH - smoked carrot, salsa macha, court boullion 4. GRILLED LAMP CHOP - farro & lima bean ragu, zaatar yogurt, roasted scallion 5. BUTTERSCOTCH PUDDING - chantilly cream, peanut brittle (Oh dear, this review is too long to post. Read the rest in the third photo if you're so inclined :-)

Top notch service and menu offerings for a Sunday Brunch.

5/5 by 👻 @Kelly Y. on 03/18/2024

Pricey but expected for the area and a James Beard Chef. Space is unique and well done, inside of an old bus station. Vibe is cool and whimsical yet serious and fun with delicious aromas and serious cocktails being crafted before you. Live music was a bit loud for the space but appreciated and added to the experience. Server was helpful with menu offerings. Look at the detail on the oyster plating with the minuet in a glass dropper. A definite must if you're in the area!

Just to set the table if you will, we had high expectations

3/5 by 👻 @Brian U. on 03/16/2024

Just to set the table if you will, we had high expectations going in. This is a James Beard award winning restaurant and chef, so we expected to have an exceptional experience. It is also one of the hardest places in town to get a reservation. First off, the setting and ambiance is very cool. It's a great space overall with a neat vibe. The bathroom situation is a bit small for that many people (had to wait in line twice), and the tables are very close together so getting in/out was difficult and cumbersome, but overall very nice. The service was the best part. It was outstanding, they all helped, they knew the menu very well, and were very timely with coming around, brining food and drinks. Ok. Now the bad part. I thought the drinks are over complicated, too many ingredients, and so the flavors get blended and lost. We had tried 4 of the house crafted cocktails and did t like any of them. Now for the food, first off not a Gluten Free item on the menu. The grouper was fishy and over cooked (had better grouper at Clive's). The chicken was good, but last night at the Collins Quarter the same dish was way better. I've done better on the grill at home. The presentations are nice, but the flavor wasn't there. The red rice balls were good, as well as the cauliflower dish. But overall I was very disappointed with the food for a James Beard award winning place. So service and space is 4 out of 5, but food was 2 out of 5.

Booked The Grey for a large party in one of their private rooms. We were expecting a lot, but unfortunately were underwhelmed by the whole experience. We received drinks 45 minutes into sitting and had already been given our first two courses. Food came out dry and cold. An hour or so into eating we were told the restaurant had ran out of cups, I'm not sure how this can possibly happen. It seems like they were not organized to accommodate us at all... This whole experience left us a bit shocked as we each paid $178 for the meal.

We enjoyed lunch at the Grey back in November. It was a wonderful time as they were very few people in the restaurant. We had a chance to chat with some of the staff, and they were very friendly and very southern in their demeanor :-) We sat at the counter and enjoyed some great southern chicken, fried sandwich and Fish! I also bought a few shirts & condiments on departure. If I’m walking around downtown Savannah, I will definitely seek them out once more. An Outstanding Dining Experience

WOW! WOW! What a great dining experience. The food was so good, I asked to meet the Chef, Mashama Bailey. I just had to tell her that this was one of our best ever culinary experiences. The restaurant was very busy on the Tuesday night. That may have caused the service to be slower than the restaurant would have liked. However, for me and my wife, we want dining out, especially in this kind of establishment, to last. Just hate to be rushed in the interest of turning tables. Three hours later we left very, very satisfied. The Chef has published a book, which we purchased - 'Black, White and The Grey'. I purchased a copy and am looking forward to the read. Also looking forward to hearing more about this great Chef. No doubt she will write many great stories as her career progresses. A Michelin Star is waiting for her.

We got there at 6:00 for a reservation and the place was almost packed. We were seated quickly and within introduced to Tim the sommelier who led us to a wonderful bottle of Italian wine for only $36. We approached the menu based on dirt water pasture and pantry. We started with ham croquettes.. crispy and crunchy on the outside and a marvelous taste of country Ham on the inside done with a remoulade sauce which I hardly used because the Croquettes were so incredibly delicious. We moved on to dirt ...that is broccoli and cauliflower and turnip... Then we tried our own version of water which was the rice Midlands an amazing mixture of shrimp and broken rice in a in an incredible shrimp stock. Finally we did from pasture chicken country captain... The chicken tomato Curry and almond all mixed artfully. Just when we thought we were done we splurged for two desserts black berry cobbler with drop biscuits and vanilla ice cream and... Butterscotch pudding.... Unbelievable The service was incredible the people genuine who work there genuine and attentive attentive we had a 5 plus evening thank you very much the grey.

We were excited for a prefix tasting menu. $200 here seems a bit of a stretch but it’s NYE so there’s that. The wine pairing at $150 each also seems on the high side so only two of our four (me and my wife) partook. I’d like to think a tasting menu is the best of what a restaurant has to offer but I suspect none of this menu is on the regular menu. Overall it was ok, the grouper was cold and fishy, the lentil balls were dry. Maybe at a lower price we would have been less disappointed.

( amazing local artist). Walked in 1245 pm (event started at 12) and they were out of Oysters. How do you run out of oysters 45 mins into an event where you have to purchase tickets. Terrible planning. They substituted steamed shrimp that were poorly seasoned and steamed inadequately. You could get A plate of food on arrival. The plate of food included coleslaw/white rice/baked beans/roasted pork with a small corn muffin. No seconds. ( did i mention they ran out of oysters at an oyster bake). We were so excited to snag a reservation at 745pm at The Grey during our Savannah visit. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and rich in history. Their bar really makes a statement and illuminates the entire room. Gorgeous. We read previous reviews regarding their service and were a little skeptical of how the night was going to go.Immediately we were sat and our server introduced herself. 5-10 minutes later another server attends to our table and stated that they were helping our original server and took our order. The drinks and appetizers came out promptly (~15 minutes). By then it was ~815-830pm. Around 915pm, our entrees were nowhere to be found. Our original server avoids our table, no eye contact and almost zero service recovery. Around 920pm, she drops off spiced pecans and tells us "the kitchen is a little backed up tonight". Our entrees finally showed up at 935pm. Over an hour and half for food and no explanation. By then we weren't even hungry.I have worked as a server for several years and can tell when they are not honest. A group that was behind us without a reservation sat at the bar (sat about 30 mins after us) and got food before we did. The table next to us sat at 9pm and had their appetizers / entrees by the time we finished our entrees at 945pm. It was sad the server couldn't even be honest about the situation, no manager to have service recovery and just.. disappointing. It's shocking for a James beard award winner when they can't even get their workflow and service down. It's clear from other reviews, we were not the only ones who experienced terrible service. The food was good, but not good enough to sit there for 2.5 hours.

Very Disappointing

2/5 by 👻 @Barbara K on 03/20/2023

The people were friendly but that was the high point. Diners sat very close together, service was slow and the food was only average. We rated the scallops and leeks as good, the chicories salad and red rice balls as mediocre, the mackerel toast as good and the fried shrimp as mediocre. We waited a long time for our food, no bread of any kind was offered and when the dessert menu arrived, the offerings were few and boring. There are many wonderful places to eat in Savannah but this is not one of them.

The only reason I give this restaurant a 2 is because the staff people were very nice. The food was NOT impressive. Charred Mackerel and Trotter Toast (chicken liver toast) both had very little taste along with the Black Bass entree. Not a good selection of wine by the glass. Don’t waste your time trying to get a table.

This was our first visit to The Grey, which we had been

4/5 by 👻 @Sarah K. on 03/14/2023

This was our first visit to The Grey, which we had been looking forward to for months. First, the space. It's stunning! We were happy to be there just to see the place. Ambiance is A+! Service was fine, if a little passive. I opted for the quail but also got to try the oxtail, which was delicious. The quail was good, but I regretted not getting the oxtail (somewhat on me for not brushing up on my quail-eating skills). I also sampled the butterscotch pudding, which I found to be a little grainy, but aside from my personal texture hang up, the flavor was good. The coffee I ordered to go with dessert was unfortunately a little bit lukewarm, but not a big deal. Overall, while we were happy to try it, we will probably not return for dinner. I think we would instead opt for trying the brunch menu.

Overpriced For tiny portions that were mediocre.

Ordered sweet potato entree. $32 for a small sweet potato on collards. Drinks never came. Very disappointing. Not worth it!

I once walked by the Grey during a morning walk around

4/5 by 👻 @Michael S. on 03/07/2023

I once walked by the Grey during a morning walk around historic Savannah and thought it was a Millennial diner. A few hours later, a friend texted that I had actually walked by a great restaurant where I should try to eat. It took a year to return, and a lot of sweating out getting an online reservation for a Sunday night in March, but my friend was proven correct. My son and I enjoyed an excellent meal, very well prepared if not, perhaps, as imaginative as I had anticipated based upon what I had read about the restaurant. That said, the ribeye we shared was a carnivore's delight and the seared mackerel delicious. Our server was attentive and excellent and most definitely enhanced the meal.

Not that great

3/5 by 👻 @Peter T on 03/07/2023

My wife and headed to the Gray for a much anticipated birthday dinner. It was a mixed bag for us across the board. The food was pricey, the portions were small, the service was very good, and the menu was limited. We came in with the mind we would order a few courses as allot of reviews complained of small portions, and they were correct. We started with the tuna tar tar and my wife asked for salt and pepper as the dish literally had no seasoning what so ever. She has never done this in any restaurant before. I had the lobster salad and it was a couple of pieces of lobster claws cut in half, served on some mayo with some strands of celery that were done with a vegetable peeler. it tasted ok but was so basic and small I was underwhelmed. We also beefed up our appetizers with an additional app to be shared which were 3 small red rice balls that were again, just ok. It took some time between courses before the entrees arrived and we got the scallops and oxtail. The scallops are a dish that was made famous by another chef, Gordon Ramsey. It was a "very similar" dish with scallops ,raisins and cauliflower. This version was not great. On the other hand the oxtail entree was excellent. The deserts were simple. A pudding and buttermilk cake which again were ok, but overly sweet to the point we could only have a few bites and we were done with the pure sugar. A very average experience, sorry.

Beautiful restaurant and the service was attentive, but

3/5 by 👻 @B B. on 03/06/2023

Beautiful restaurant and the service was attentive, but they brought the salad first and the appetizer on top of that. I don't like it when you haven't finished one course and they bring the next one. I ordered the quail . The menu said it came with cornbread and turnips. There was one turnip slice cut into 4 pieces. The cornbread was the stuffing and the bird came on a bed of smoked collards. Glad I didn't order the collards as a side , which I almost did. The collards were very tasty. I found the glaze on the quail extremely sweet, and not to my liking. Partner ordered the dayboat, which in our part of the world means scallops, but here we were surprised to find a piece of red snapper for $42. I think they could do a better job with plate descriptions on the menu. Overall we were underwhelmed. They do have an extensive wine list or drink book as they call it and sommelier to help navigate it.

First time at The Grey while visiting Savannah.

4/5 by 👻 @Marwan A. on 03/05/2023

We had high expectations and it did not fail. We had appetizers, lobster salad was ok, squash not-mole and this was terrific. For entrees, red snapper was delicious and oxtail was spectacular. Collard greens was salted enough to pucker the mouth. Split the chocolate tort which was great with side of ice cream. For a 3 course dinner took us nearly 2 1/2 hours and the place was not full. Our server was great but service was not as attentive and sluggish. I may come back, but may need to get up and walk between plates.

To start this place is 5 star all the way! I'll explain

4/5 by 👻 @Dee D. on 02/26/2023

To start this place is 5 star all the way! I'll explain later. The ambiance is warm and lovely. No spoiler alerts here. You will have to go. The chef clearly is a class act. The table and water service is excellent. The time between courses, a little strained. The beer battered shrimp was our starter of choice. The lobster with anchovy salad is mouthwatering. Nice succulent cubes of crustacean in a delightful sauce. We had a failhence the point deduction-- there was sand in the salad. It was a melody of grilled radicchio and endive salad. The endive was the culprit that needed some TLC. It was whisked away from the table. I had snapper in a bouillabaisse. The oxtail dish is divine. I would definitely give this place another try.

So disappointing

2/5 by 👻 @Shari E on 02/24/2023

I so wanted to love The Grey. On a recent trip to Savannah a friend and I ate there because it had such history and good reviews. The reality of the experience was incredibly underwhelming in every possible way. We had a 9 pm reservation - all that was available a month in advance. We arrived a few minutes early and were directed by the hostess to the bar where she would come get us when our table was ready. We sat in the bar for 20-30 where we were served by a disinterested bartender. She took our order, brought our drinks and brought our check, with no attempt at cordiality. We were eventually seated at our table and visited 5 minutes later by our server whose only task on that visit was to advise what they were out of, including several of the 5 entrees. We were eventually able to order our meal when our server came back after what seemed like a really long time. We shared a salad which was essentially nothing more than a few lettuce leaves and some feta cheese. I ordered the "grilled" pork entree which was arguably the worst meal I've been served in a restaurant in years. The presentation was nice but when I put the first piece of meat in my mouth I had to immediately spit it out (which I've never done before in a restaurant! I don't know how to describe the texture other than spongy - not a term I'd typically use to describe a piece of meat. It may have been a piece of fat but honestly it looked like all of the rest of the slices. I did find a few pieces in the middle of the plate that were edible and I ate the accompanying side. You might say I should have sent the meal back and ordered something else - I did not because (1) our server never came back to ask how our meal was (2) it was already 10 pm and (3) there wasn't anything else on the menu I was interested in eating. I have to say the dessert was delicious - it was the high point of the meal. I've eaten at many wonderful restaurants across the country, including many owned and operated by James Beard nominees and winners, and Michelin star restaurants abroad so I'm not unfamiliar with fine dining. This was by far the most disappointing dining experience/meal I've had in a very long time. Even more disappointing because of the hype for this place. Honestly the best part of the evening was our Uber ride back to our hotel. Thankfully we had several wonderful meals/experiences at several great restaurants in Savannah during our visit so I was able to put this experience out of my mind.

Poor customer service and management

1/5 by 👻 @Elizabeth L on 02/23/2023

Heard a lot of great things about The Grey and the history of the restaurant and Chef Bailey. Sorely disappointed with the service and how her staff handled walk-ins. I understood that there is a walk-in option and that you had to come early. We were early and inline. We were four people. Two people were running 5 minutes late. We were able to get 4 seats at the counter. Water was provided and a menu. In that time, while we were waiting, two other patrons were trying to get seats but there were none. We had not received any drinks and the other patron barged her way in and physically moved my friend's purse. The hostess and manager did nothing and allowed her behavior. This is unacceptable and I will not be recommending The Grey to anyone.

Parents be aware!

1/5 by 👻 @Courtney S on 02/10/2023

We visited this restaurant this evening to celebrate my husbands birthday. We have done extensive research and knew that we just needed to visit before our trip to Savannah was concluded! Upon arrival, the staff was excellent—even giving my husband a hand written birthday card to commemorate the evening! Unfortunately, as soon as we were greeted, there was bad news: there would be no high chairs to accommodate our child. We made an early reservation to beat the dinner rush and expected our son to partake in our meal, but ended up feeling completely overwhelmed. We had to find a way at to make him comfortable in a booth seat, which was indicative that this restaurant is not child friendly whatsoever. There wasn’t even a single question for the staff that asked if our boy needed water or food. The staff acted like he didn’t exist—and when he fell asleep, they were glad he did so, as their comments about their praise of us keeping him asleep were frequent. The cherry on top was from the pork dinner entree, which was delicious…until the last half of the pork chop. It was quite pink and had the look of freshly unpackaged raw pork chops from the grocery store. My husband has been so disappointed about this, as the waitress(who was quite nice) told him that all the meat was cooked and temperature tested and even offered up a new pork chop. We didn’t take up the offer, because we have never sent back a food item (this was just so out of the ordinary! A restaurant that is marketed at this caliber should not be making mistakes as this. ) as our son awoke and began to feel uncomfortable. After rushing our son out, we paid full price for a dinner that consisted of raw pork. On top of that, for a restaurant that prides itself on its inclusivity (which we were excited for as we are an interracial couple) we felt highly discriminated against for being parents. I hope this review enacts some change. Firstly—Grey, get high chairs! Secondly—if a guest is concerned about the quality of meat, just have the chef check it. Don’t make the guest feel like they are being a nuisance. This completely ruined our evening, and invited us to write this review—the first review we have ever written about any restaurant…ever.

The conversion of this former bus station is mind blowing! All of the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and above average in professionalism. The oysters were delicious, the scallops were mouthwatering, the sweet potato is a must have, and the ribeye for the table, 40 ounces!, was tender and cooked perfectly. We had to get one of each of the deserts, almost couldn’t walk out afterwards. Do not miss this restaurant!

Each posting on AppointmentTrader shows you which user submitted it and along with that provides a trackrecord of that user which indicates how much experience the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to The Grey Savannah at 6 PM the same day.

He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the The Grey Savannah page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FulfilledThread16, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FulfilledThread16 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FulfilledThread16 for any questions Peter may have as FulfilledThread16 user fills the bid.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* FulfilledThread16 now uses their connections at The Grey Savannah to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FulfilledThread16 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.

4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FulfilledThread16 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FulfilledThread16's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at The Grey Savannah!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
