Great Sunday Lunch
Great Sunday Lunch at The George. Myself and wife had the roast beef and the quality of the meat was fantastic. Really good choice of vegetables and the whole meal was amazing. Service at the George is always good, fantastic staff. Thankyou!
Be the first to ReplyAnother great experience :)
I have visited The George many times over the past few years. The staff were very professional and attentive during our visit. I had mushroom ravioli which was delicious and came with a nice side salad. The atmosphere and decor really add to the experience as well. I look forward to returning in the summer and sitting out in the lovely courtyard. Thanks again :)
Be the first to ReplyReally good value for food and residential stay
We needed to stay in the area for one night and found this place, reviews good, and price not silly. The room is part of a row of rooms a few steps from the pub and the car park. Inside it is modern, well furnished, warm, comfortable with a modern bathroom and walk in shower . All the usual items, teas coffees( Nespresso type machine for me as the coffee addict) toiletries, and the in-house/room breakfast of porridge to add boiling water or juice and biscuits ( no breakfast served in the pub at all). Bed was good nights sleep quality so basically we were really pleased and impressed and would use it again when needed, Sunday lunch for our family group proved similar quality level, though the size of the plates of food on offer were a little daunting unless you had a “Sunday lunch for afternoon nap requirement” but no doubting the high cheffing level. The cheesecake dessert received high praise and a longing look from myself having no space after the monster main dish. As value it was really acceptable, no silly pricing, and of course the place was full, So. Yes it’s a place to remember if you are in that area , well done to the owners and to the staff,

My wife & i had a really lovely meal at this busy, thriving village pub. which was great to see in todays climate. All of our meals was of good quality, genuinely superbly cooked, perfectly presented & well served. We were highly impressed with the amount of young staff which was employed by the establishment, which again in todays climate is a rarity & a credit to the owners to give them a chance. However, i don't agree with the discretionary 10% service charge added to the final bill ,where we'd much prefer to pay the person dedicated to our table/area, having said that, we didn't have a dedicated person and since it's not a chain business we were happy to accommodate. We would recommend without hesitation.

Lovely Sunday lunch. Good service - a little bit rushed but they were very busy. However I think service charges should be at customers discretion. They will say they can be removed but I really don't like the wording that 'if you think them unfair' they can be deducted. Making you feel that you're criticising the staff which is not the case. I agree they work hard and do a great job but that should be reflected in their salary. I prefer to tip the old fashioned way - direct to the deserving staff.
Be the first to ReplyA lively venue for an evening meal!
Visited this pub restaurant with friends who live locally to celebrate an anniversary. The food was good and the beer was first rate. The only glitch encountered was a second order of drinks that was ignored by the staff. This disappointment apart, the overall experience was a good one.

Be the first to ReplyYou just must go to this just Wonderful Pub
Totally a wonderful evening . The food was delicious and we took my elderly father who said he loved it as doesn’t get out much. We had great service from Anna our waitress. The place is so beautiful and decorated so stylishly, real flowers on the tables / attractive outdoor area - we didn’t sit there but could out on it. Such a friendly and welcoming pub. Would for sure go there again. Infact if we have any special occasions or friends up to visit we will take them. Show some attractive parts of the county- away from Luton There is nothing there TBH

Love this place but the food has be come very pricy and we will only be coming here for special occasions sadly 😢 Not a fan of surcharges I believe that a tip should be down to the guest discretion not included in bill
Be the first to ReplyLovely food but service lacking
Visited on a Friday early evening to celebrate the end of school year and sat in the covered court yard. Food was lovely, chicken burger and beef burger, Daughter wasn't overly keen on her pasta but that's because she's a little fussy, the service however was sadly lacking. Food was delivered to the table, no one asked if our food was ok, if we needed anything or if we wanted another round of drinks. Our Daughters meal included a pudding however we waited and waited but no-one arrived to take dessert orders we ended up ordering at the bar, same with the bill, no one came over with the bill. We'd waited long enough so went and paid at the bar, we asked for the service charge to be removed and weren't even asked why. For the price we paid I'd have expected a better service, shame really as we really liked the restaurant but probably won't return.

Tom was very welcoming on arrival. We had arranged an early check in because we had a function to attend in Flitwick nearby. The room was modern, clean and comfortable. The large shower room was perfect. We were left breakfast baskets as we had to leave pretty early that were spot on. I would totally recommend the hotel to friends and family next visit. Well done The George!
Be the first to ReplyTravel to this gem - totally worth it!
We wanted to meet up halfway between where we live for an Easter lunch, so my brother and I lucked out on this absolutely amazing pub restaurant. Why isn't it Michelin starred? Where did the chef come from? Could he please move nearer to me?!
A lovely pub inside with plenty of seating, and a great beer garden for lovely relaxing drinks. But the service and food was what made this place stand out for us. Sophie (and all the waitresses / manager) went out of their way to accommodate our requests, and came back regularly to check we were OK without being intrusive. They have an "easy" job after that - because the food is so out of this world, that they don't have to make up for anything.......like some places do!
Starters were - potted shrimp (lovely) and baby chorizo - is the chef Spanish, because that was as flavoursome as any tapas I've had?
Then brother had Wild Mushroom Ravioli - for someone who wasn't a vegetarian, it was to die for. I had pan fried Sea bass and the chimichurri sauce set it off perfectly (tho I asked for it on the side just in case!). We were too full for dessert, but it was a shame as I really wanted one!
The whole atmosphere was relaxed and happy, and we didn't feel rushed at all.
Do make sure to visit this wonderful place, but save room for us, as we'll be meeting up again very soon.
Family Easter lunch
Had a Easter Sunday dinner there . Food nice but didn’t have the bread sauce to go with my chicken dinner or any stuffing. Bit disappointed
Be the first to ReplyVery difficult to fault
First time here and for Sunday lunch.
We have tried several gastro pubs with mixed results but this place is right up there.
The staff are super, welcoming and professional.
The roast beef quality was the best I have had and the trimmings perfectly cooked.
The napkins are a cross between linen and paper so a sensible mix.
Sauces arrive quickly and in a little pot.
Now the gravy is always crucial, it comes here in it's own jug and plentiful and good but not the flavour of the establishment close to me.
Parking was good.
The rest room was impressively clean.
A definite return visit awaits
A great place to eat and drink for any and every occasion
Came here for a drink with a mate but ended up getting a table in the restaurant and eating. We only had a burger each but it was homemade and cooked perfectly. The staff were polite, friendly and attentive. Another great place to go in the local area and I’m looking forward to my next visit.

We have been to the George numerous times since being taken their by our daughter. It is consistent, friendly and very professional. Their food is great as is the service. Not the cheapest but certainly good value given the quality of food and service. We will continue to visit with confidence.
Be the first to ReplyHighly recommended local pub/restaurant that is also dog friendly
After a lovely dog walk, we stumbled upon the george pub/restaurant for lunch. Not only is it dog friendly, but the food was delicious and the staff were so attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend it, and can't wait to come back with and without the dog 😂
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and cozy environment
We have been to this lovely restaurant three times, when visiting our family in Ampthill. And every visit has been positive. Their Sunday roasts are excellent. Nieces love their pizzas. At this last visit, we had starters including the anti-pasti sharer plate with the homemade focacia bread. That was the best focacia bread we ever had, crusty and warm.
