I'll repeat what one other reviews say.
..Overpriced and under served. We sat in the Oak Room. Long waits between courses (we had to ask to get our table cleared between all the courses) and ask where our entrees were. A server came over after the entree and asked how it was "the vegetables weren't cooked and everything was late". "oh" she said. "Anything else"?. And she walked away. That summed up the experience. They basically don't care. Thanks for ruining my 94 year old mothers Mothers Day (let's hope it wasn't her last) and next year we'll go somewhere that actually cares about their customers).....

Room is baking hot. Towel rack is heated and acting like a radiator, which the hotel says it can't turn off 'until the morning.' So we open the windows, which go to the garden restaurant courtyard. There's a group of people right outside the window all smoking! It fills the room in seconds. Hotel says 'that's the hotel's smoking spot.' One star is too many.

We ate in the bistro up top, which was set out like an indoor garden. The staff were very friendly, and we had a good chat with a kiwi lass that was working here. The meal, although expensive, was large and delicious. I was completely satisfied at the end.We adjourned to the downstairs lounge to enjoy tea and coffee. This is a beautiful old style English hotel in a beautiful part of the country. It's not your usual pub faire and is a little more upper class. Well worth it for a piece of history and a nice haddock.

I used to live in Peterborough and the George was thought of fine dining. NOT NOW!!! OMG where do I start?? we walked in and no one ever addressed us. I waited and then we was showed a table. I ordered the duck with sage and onion stuffing. My mate ordered the roast beef. I watched the Manageress Give a waiter a telling off in front of clients!! Not good! Then she dropped a load of menus on a group of flans and then i watch her served them to a lovely lady. Wow! My duck came and it was so dry i swear i saw a camel crossing. The stuffing was as hard as a brick and i had to use my steak knife to cut it. So i didn't bother!! When asked about my dinner, I told the truth! I don't like to fight with my food once its on the plate. The Manageress came and said sorry and Told me that the George wants their customers to be happy. (Hey what about the Flans that had menus sitting on them??) they removed the cost of my dinner. the food still costs 44 GBP for just one meal and two drinks. Never AGAIN
