The Catbird Seat Nashville Reviews from The Last Year
I loved everything about my experience dining at Catbird
I loved everything about my experience dining at Catbird Seat. It was a very intimate setting. The food was amazing! Every single course. Each dish, is prepared in front of you and served with care. It's a really sexy experience. The service was spot on to the level of service one might receive when dining abroad. This gastronomic explosion gives me Michelin star vibes and I love it! Can't wait to dine again in the future.
When food meets art
An unforgettable experience involving 18 (!) delicious, carefully crafted and artistically presented courses. Flavours, textures, subtle undertones accompanied us in a 3-hour journey through Chef’s vision of this winter menu. Chef’s extraordinary team prepared dishes in what looked like a beautifully choreographed dance. The staff was so attentive that we didn’t even notice as cutlery changed for every dish and glasses were filled. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, filled with great music. We were warmly welcomed and left with a spring in our step. Strongly recommend.

Each course is distinct with a mesh of a variety of ingredients you would never imagine coming together. I commend Chef Baxter for his expertise in curating the finest ingredients. One of the most impressive experiences. There is interaction with all of the chefs (nice touch btw), as each chef will bring out a course and speak with you about the food you are about to consume and "how" you should consume it. Important information as incorporating all of the flavors and consuming in one bite makes a big difference. Catbird Seat makes me wonder what Chef Baxter will come up with next. The kitchen is simple, but functional. The service, impeccable. Every single employee there is 100% focused on you, and your dining experience. That really stood out. In addition, your glass will never be empty. That's how attentive they are. Be prepared to be enchanted and pleasantly surprised.
The food was incredible.
Such unique combinations - highly recommend doing the wine pairing. We will be back for the next seasonal menu!!!
Best Culinary experience
I have done a number of tasting menus at high end restaurants and this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Sitting at a table watching and interacting with all the chefs including the head chef was such a great. Watching them prepare each course and work together with the front staff was like watching a ballet with lots of moving part all complementing each other. And the food… such I interesting combo of flavours and each one was simply delicious. We found the wine paring to be in point. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
This was an excellent experience.
Very artistic, creative tasting menu prepared by top-notch chefs.
Fantastic!
This is still one of the best restaurants in Nashville. The food is always amazing and so creative. The staff is fantastic. I would definitely recommend it!

We visited 7th September 2023 on one of the couple of Slow Burn (the band) special dinners. We added the curated wine (+ saki) add-ons, and though not an inexpensive option, it is well worth the adjunct to add on to a fabulous dining experience. To have the guidance and description of the courses as you were about to eat them, was simply first class - and then the detailed histories and "terroir" of the wines, was brilliant ! If I were asked, given the overall costs, would I go again? Absolutely, in a Nashville minute!! I found the food perfectly filling without huge amounts of carbs or pounds of protein. Pace yourself, and this will be an experience that i have not had in an overall dinner setting, anywhere in the world.
Incredible experience.
The entire staff was passionate and you can feel it in the food. 100/100
This is a Nashville experience.
Not NY, Chicago, San Fran or one of the other legitimate major cities. The prices are exuberant. You can't charge $600 a couple for this type of experience and expect experienced diners to ever return. I'm certain that Green Hills and Lockeland folk find this place extraordinary, but it's simply put. Not. Side note: why does everyone attempt to serve bear Creek beef cooked rare? TN Beef chews like gum everywhere I've had it.
The price is worth the seat.
Food is out of this world and curated by amazing chefs. Service is attentive and on point making sure you are receiving the highest experiencing. The Catbird is the best fine dining in Nashville. You won't find this experience many other places in Nashville. You need to go to Chicago or NYC to find service, attention detail, and ambience as well as Catbird does it.
Just a pathetic attempt at what many places do so well.
Birdsong in San Francisco is a great example of how to do this. The worst by far is the blaring crappy hard rock music that is nearly heavy metal by the end of the night. I couldn't wait to escape. Wine pairing is crap. They try and do their best but by far falls too short. Skip this and get some local authentic food. Save the fancy meal for another city.
Boring food with blaring hard rock music
Where to begin with this hot mess. Standing outside waiting patiently to be allowed into the building with no explanation as to why a poorly dressed and somewhat indifferent young lady brought each group in and took 1-2 minutes per group. No where to sit and no cover from the weather. Turns out it is a funky small hallway to a tiny elevator to a bizarre upstairs dining bar around a small kitchen. I have eaten ate many places like this and many of them are amazing (Birdsong in San Francisco). Sadly this place is not one of them. The best thing I can say is the food is pretty and served on fun plates and bowls. Some dishes are good most are boring. The real problem with this place is the servers (random cooks) speak (mumble) and with heavy accents... making it damn near impossible to know what they are serving. I leaned forward and tried hard to understand... nope. This became harder as the night progressed as the music shifted from jazzy blues to rock to metallic rock and got LOUDER. Seriously these young heavily tattooed chefs cannot help but blast what they enjoy. I couldn't wait to escape and I even considered simply leaving. If they fix some dishes and change the music and noise levels... then perhaps worth a visit. For now not even close to being a place to eat.

Be prepared to feel like you're entering a speak-easy: the entry door is pretty non-descript and there are no seats for waiting. The bar next door was gracious enough to allow us to wait in their foyer as it was rainy when we arrived. But at precisely 6:00 we were ushered in and given our seats at the dining bar. The food reflects a great deal of thought and technique in preparation and clearly a lot of connections to source their ingredients. Are some dishes indulgent just for the sake of being indulgent? Yeah. If you're not up for a bit of that, this isn't your place. No dish is more than a couple of bites, but we did not leave hungry and we enjoyed every course. We did the wine-pairing and thought some were fantastic and others just OK. I thought the wines showed some knowledge of wines from regions that aren't the premier regions. Is $800 for a dinner two too much? Not to us - it was a special occasion and we enjoyed our foodie night in Nashville. If you can get a reservation at the Catbird seat, take it.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
