Uncle boon and Disco fries for the win!!
The line out the door here showed how great it was, so we had to eat dinner here. Highly recommend the disco fries, the som tum papaya salad and the uncle boons crab fried rice for mains. It was all delicious. We also had the uncle boons coconut sundae and the vegan tapioca pudding for dessert. Staff here were so accommodating and attentive. So friendly and we really felt important to them. Great recommendations on the menu. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyGood Food but Cold Service
The food is good especially the Braised Beef Short Ribs. The Crab Meat Fried Rice is fine as the value is not there. The Thai Iced Tea is bad as the tea should be from the powder and lack of ice and milk. The Roti is fine and the French Toast is good. Why 3 Stars? The servers are robotic, efficient, and cannot compare to โdinersโ usual friendly serviceโ without any contacts and forget about conversations. Cart Ching Cart Ching the money is ringing! When I paid 16% tips and not even a โthank youโ or smiley faceโฆ. Manager: Are you paying your staff enough or just push for the revenue?
Be the first to ReplyBuena comida thai
Nice thai food. Just to eat something different than italian or chinese. The place and the table are too small. No intimacy for a couple talk. 2 starters, 2 main courses, 1 coke, one sparkling water tip included $112. I think is too much for a 2 people lunch.

The cucumber salad paired with fried chicken and sticky rice was a delectable combination. While the dressing leaned towards the salty and spicy side, it achieved a harmonious balance with the rice and chicken, creating a flavorful experience. As for the disco fries, they were a unique surprise that I had never encountered before. Seasoned with a delightful curry sauce, they proved to be a delicious addition to the meal. Overall, the dining experience was enjoyable and memorable.

We had an amazing time here! Found it on TikTok. The food was absolutely delicious! Will be back next week! The breakfast sandwich was to die for! And of course the Thai iced tea was amazing!
Be the first to ReplyWorth the wait
My daughter lives in this neighborhood & Iโve always wanted to eat here. Finally made it, and it was delicious. Two of us had the Phat Thai with Chicken, and two of us had the Lobster Omelette Chu Chee. The server asked if we were okay with heat (for the omelettes). Iโm glad she warned us. I thought it was delicious, and mid level heat (the coconut cream was a lovely combination with the red curryโs heat). My husband did sweat through his meal, and thought it was pretty hot. However he ate everything, and said he loved it. The others really enjoyed their Phat Thai. Our server was great, and I also enjoyed the ambience.
Be the first to ReplyTasty Thai spot with fusion options
Some of the best Thai food Iโve had. Came here on a Saturday around 11:45 and there was a 20 minute wait. When we left, there was a much longer line, so I would encourage you to either get a reservation or come earlier. We got the following for the four of us: Thai Tea Babka French toast: this was delicious. It had a Thai tea butter, condensed milk, and dragon fruit on top of a rich babka that came in four pieces. Laab with fried chicken: you have the choice of also getting mushrooms or minced pork, but I think fried chicken is the right call. The dressing had a slightly sour/spicy taste which was interesting and it also came with sticky rice. This was my favorite dish. Kaeng Kieow Waan: this was a duck leg with rice noodles and a green curry sauce that wasnโt too spicy. My friends all loved this one. Crab fried rice: good dish to have as a side. They included a spicy sauce on the side if you want to up the ante, but the rice also has enough flavor on its own. Ice cream sundae: this popped up as one of the best desserts in New York according to the Infatuation, and though it was good, I donโt see how this would be any different from other sundaes. There was a ton of whipped cream on top (more so than the coconut gelato) and it came with candied peanuts and toasted coconut. Indoor and enclosed outdoor seating available. Two single occupant restrooms available inside. Up to two credit cards accepted per table.
Be the first to ReplyAtmosphere: typical Thai setting. Service: OK. Food: OK
My friend and I stumbled on this place, because the famous Deli I wanted to go to had a line a mile long with a wait. It was getting late in the afternoon and we were hungry. Never make discussions when hungry LOL. Seemed good, I looked up reviews and the place was crowded. We got a seat for 2 inside, very crammed with uncomfortable seating. Service was spotty, waited a bit for even someone to acknowledge us. Menu not the typical Thai offering. We ordered a couple beers while perusing the menu. We decided on the Tom Yum Soup (that had shrimp wontons in it), Sticky Rice and Shrimp Pad Thai. When the soup arrived, nothing like what Iโve ever seen, broth, tomatoes and a few tiny dumplings with no taste. Pad Thai was OK, had a different taste, maybe the dried shrimp in sauce. The Sticky Rice Ok too (weirdly wrapped up in plastic wrap to untangle it free). We asked if they had pickled hot peppers as a condiment, didnโt realize there was an extra charge (would be nice to tell us). Just a very OK restaurant. Atmosphere: typical Thai setting. Service: OK. Food: OK
Be the first to ReplyCame for the amazing banana pudding. Overall Visit was so-so
I heard so much about the banana pudding here and I have to say it didn't disappoint. First of all the smell in the place is amazing and I can imagine that the food is just as good. The initial hostesses who greeted us were extremely nice and helpful with constant smiles on their faces. The reason why I gave this restaurant the rating I did was because of our server. I guess since we just wanted to order the banana pudding he felt as though he wouldn't receive a good tip. When he asked what we wanted to order his face showed that he was irritated. Then from there I counted at least 6 times he came to our table to see if we either wanted to order anything else or if we were leaving. It turned into an uncomfortable situation. Once the check came the bill was about $12. I paid with a $20 and when he asked if I needed change and I told him no his whole demeanor changed to a positive one. Very upsetting to treat patrons that way.

The food at this buzzing place is amazing. Be sure to book. The receptionist was extremely grumpy and on the point of being rude. The servers were polite. I would visit again for the food.
Be the first to ReplyFusion Done Right
This is fusion done right! I have to give the owners credit for fusing Thai food and American diner food together, since it wouldn't be the first combination I would have thought up myself. The place is a bit pricey, but it is SO worth the money you shell out. They have traditional Thai dishes as well as fusion dishes, such as Thai tea French toast, disco fries (fries with curry and peanuts), pad thai with fried chicken, and many other options. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor seating, and the mixing of the Thai and diner asthetic is so creative. I can keep going on about this place, but check it out if you can!

Be the first to ReplyDonโt go here
Incredibly arrogant staff. No greeting, no sense of even recognizing that you actually want to spend you money at their worn down shack. I was looking for a simple, quick place to have lunch around 1 pm on a Tuesday. Went up to the door to ask if they had a table for one or even just a spot at the bar. Got no answer from the hostess. She just asked me to wait outside in 30 degrees weather for some "check-in" while another single customer got seated at the bar right away. I've eaten in over 2.000 restaurants all over the world. I know when to call BS. This place qualifies for the worst kind of bad there is. A staff that just doesn't care... Take your money elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyRude Survice
We were first in line and the rest of my family was waiting in the car to keep warm. The lady said she had a perfect table for 5, so I went to call the rest of my family. Within a minuet, we got back she told us that she gave our table away to the people behind us. Bad management, totally unjust, rude.
Be the first to ReplyBest Chicken Sandwich at a Thai Restaurant... Believe it!
Went to this restaurant on the advise of some friends who are NYC foodies. They told me Thai Diner had "the best chicken sandwich" they ever had. In this era of chicken sandwich wars (Popeye's, ChickFilA, KFC) I was intrigued to hear that a Thai restaurant might top this category. Low and behold, it was true!! The chicken was expertly breaded, so tender and juicy! There were some pickled tomato wedges on the sandwich which gave it a very unique taste. There was a mayo based sauce which added a very subtle heat to the sandwich.
I was having lunch with my brother who is a vegetarian. He really enjoyed his fried rice dish topped with egg; said it was outstanding.
If I lived in the neighborhood, Thai Diner would definitely be in my restaurant rotation. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until the next time I visit the city.
Great find
Fantastic little fine on Mott street. Great food and the signature tamarind cocktail was amazing. Lovely staff, especially the front of house guy who kept it all running.
Be the first to ReplyBest Pad Thai
For my NYC trip I specifically made a search for best pad thai and I ended up here. Apparently it was previously called "Uncle Boon's Sister" but when we arrived we asked and we were told that it was the same family and same chefs, they just changed the name.
The Pad Thai was amazing! I ordered it with chicken but they had several more options. It didn't dissapoint.
The service was good and they have a lot of seating options.
Authentic & Delicious
Dined here for lunch last week and it was fantastic. Had the papaya salad and the steamed bass- both were exceptional. Service was friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyAwesome Thai food
I miss Uncle Boon's, but Thai Diner is just as good... It's really hard to get a spot here (at least on weekends), but if you're lucky, it's a good time. The fried rice is a must, the brunch items are delicious, the staples are great (fried chicken is a nice complement), and the curries are awesome.
Be the first to ReplyTerrific Outside Tables!
We were visiting Lower Manhattan and decided to try Thai Diner. Excellent outside tables and wonderful food! Highly recommend if you are in the neighborhood!
