Food was delicious, but service was a bit slow.
It took a long time to get refills and even longer to get our check! We did sit outside which likely played a role since most people were inside.

Tavern At The Vogue (The Tav) is not only a great place in South bay, I'd say it is up there with the great pubs in San Diego. There are only a few places that check all the boxes when it comes to Ambiance, Food, Craft Drinks, Beer Selection (and tap quality/temperature), MUSIC, Daily Specials, and Community. The Tav is definitely one of them. When I moved back to South bay after a 20 year hiatus I was trying to find not just a place to hang with friends and have some drinks, but a place to feel at home. The staff, since day one has always been welcoming, helpful, and in great spirits. Honestly, I was just supposed to be living in Chula Vista while looking for a place in Mission Hills, but I fell in love with Chula and The Tav had a big part to do with that.

Great Place very good Vibe specially for Sports TVs all around great local people and staff. Definitely my new local spot!
Be the first to ReplyThe Vogue is a 49ers bar.
. Ahoo Ahoo Ahoo #IYKYK the ambience is also Star Wars themed as far as decor and they have friendly staff, great service and an awesome mixed drink menu and plenty of beer on tap as well. The food is pretty good and they have a mixed clientele of friendly people. They're at the end of 3rd Ave at the corner of E st. in downtown Chula Vista.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I love this place.
The burgers, tater tots, drinks and service! Staff is upbeat and friendly. We love the 80's music and Star Wars decor! Hey our kind of place. We are becoming regulars. Highly recommend coming here if you're craving a great tasting burger and a beer!

This is my absolute favorite place to eat, have a drink and hang out with my friends and family. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always happy with my meal! Staff are always friendly and polite. Can't wait to return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat and have some drink's .
Be the first to Replyevery time I come to this place, I feel like I'm at home.
From the staff to the customers to the atmosphere, it gives me a sort of family oriented type of vibe. You add the great selection of beers and cocktails. And to top it off their food is great. Possibly the best underrated burger in San Diego.
Be the first to ReplyLots of parking downtown.
Good food and drink specials. Good staff and good atmosphere decent pricing, always a good time at the tavern.

Great place to enjoy good food with good friends while having a few drinks and watching sports. Great vibe!
Be the first to ReplyIt was good.
I was really surprised. The owner (maybe manager) was super helpful. Making suggestions about what to get. I got a bison burger and a Guinness. Other people in my party got the same, and the fish and chips. Would I come back and eat? Absolutely. It was kinda pricey but what do you expect. It was good food and with the inflammation they got to make their money too. I don't mind putting my money their way. Great customer service. Great food. Beer was nice, frosty and cold. Thank you for the delicious dinner, cold beer, and evening on their patio with friends.
Be the first to ReplyFood is great.
Lots of good choices from the salads to the buffalo chicken sandwich to the chicken fingers to the tater tots. Service is great and friendly. It's neighborhood place to grab a bite as it's always spot on.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here around 7pm on a Saturday night, Jan 6.
The dining room was about half full of patrons and the game was on the televisions. The place is small and quaint. About 20 barstools at the bar, 6 or so small tables, 2 larger tables that seat 6-ish and about 7 pub tables. Our waitress greeted us and took our order. I had a well vodka with sprite and grenadine, $8. It was just okay, not enough grenadine for my taste. My boyfriend got Dr Pepper. We ordered wings, $9, as a starter, I got the fish and chips, $18, specifically asking for crispy fries, as my main meal and he got the chicken schnitzel, $17. It took a little longer than necessary for the drinks to arrive. I watched the waitress and bartender stand around talking for quite some time before they decided to finally make them. Once the drinks arrived, within ten minutes ALL of the food arrived at once. This is a huge peeve of mine. If you're gonna offer starters then at least space the timing of the plates accordingly. The kitchen delivered it as our waitress gossiped at the bar. The food... the wings are naked but for some reason had a super sweet flavor to them that didn't pair well with the buffalo sauce and ranch. The chicken schnitzel was thin (maybe 1/4" thick?) and according to my boyfriend, extremely dry. The gravy had a decent flavor. My plate was a disgrace. The fries were soggy and the fish was so greasy that the breading squished when I picked it up and grease literally ran down my finger. I ate half of one piece and about 10 fries and brought the rest home for the crows. My boyfriend ran out of drink mid meal, served in a clear plastic 16oz solo cup, and never got a refill while all the employees (4 in total) stood at the bar talking. The bill was $63 which is a disgrace for the quality of food and service we received. We will never return to this establishment as there's plenty of places to try with quality food and service in this beautiful city. I suggest you save yourself the aggravation and spend your money elsewhere. The staff simply doesn't care about this place at all. I didn't take pictures at the restaurant as conversation was flowing nicely and I didn't want to stop to pull out my phone, but I did take pictures once I got home of my fish to show the state of it. Just gross. They get 2 stars for a decent Dr Pepper and the place did appear to be clean with a nice ambiance. EDIT: After posting this review I received a tacky response from the owner and a private message. The attitude definitely explains the terrible food and service by their staff. The owner clearly doesn't care and would rather be sarcastic and offended instead of kind and sincerely apologetic for the poor food and service. Big yikes.
Be the first to ReplyI can't say enough how much I really love this place.
It definitely has a Star Wars dive bar kinda vibe. The food is great from the burgers, the sausages , a tj dog and fish and chips. The steak is a perfect size and done just like you'd find in this place. I miss small bar but this is definitely taking its place. Great beers. Great service and fun decor. You can't go wrong with the tots too.
Be the first to ReplyThe burger I chose was AMAZING.
So juicy and the bacon on point! The tater tots were so crispy and delish. The service was awesome, very friendly and welcoming for it being my first time there. The ambiance is very cool. I enjoyed the Darth Vader art and collection. Would highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyVery much average, dive bar type place.
Bartender looked like we were bothering him by ordering drinks. I ordered the steak and mashed potatoes, jalapeño truffle fries, a pretzel, mango margarita, strawberry margarita and a Paloma. We spent a good amount of money here, my friends ordered more drinks than me but next time we will pick a place that we feel welcomed in.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot for sports and some (delicious) pub fare.
The owner always seems to be there and he is nice and attentive. I'm a beer drinker so I can't really comment on the cocktails, but food-wise everything I've had has been good. I've had the "Sausage Party" (4 sausage sandwiches) more than I care to admit...
Be the first to ReplyFood is always great.
.. the staff is always nice! We love it for a yummy happy hour + the kids always love it here! This spot is how I imagine the show "Cheers" would be like. Everyone knows each other + has a great time! Love that this spot is on Third Ave!

This place is great for beer & a burger! I love the inside vibe & service has always been great! On Monday's they have happy hour ($5 beers & food, selected). It's a nice weekend place to hangout at. Definitely recommend

This place is good for a drink after work after a long day, with some friends. I had their burger with a side of tots and it was delicious. The food here is good for a little dive bar and you can never go wrong having it paired with a beer. The ambiance is ok and the service was nice, overall I'd give it a 3-4 star rating.
Be the first to ReplyThis is one of my go to spots in downtown Chula Vista.
They recently got a full liquor license! Beer selection is always on point. Service is friendly and owners are always present to help out and entertain guests.

This place is a bar setting and they have several options for bar food. The drinks are good, they have drink specials nightly. They have TVs to watch games, boxing, and sporting events. The staff is always super customer service oriented and friendly. We come out maybe every 3 months when we are in the area.
Be the first to ReplyCame in today for happy hour.
I convinced my partner to get the chicken strips because I had them the first time I came here a couple months ago and they were big, juicy, and tasty. Today I felt silly for convincing her to get them. I was served 1 and a half strips that weren't much bigger than the shoestring fries that came with them. What a rip off. They make you feel like you're getting a deal for happy hour by saving you $3 off the regular price but then they serve you half a portion. On the plus side $5 HH pints were nice.
Be the first to ReplyGreat burger, simple and tasty.
They were under staffed, but all in all, I enjoyed my meal and German lager!
Be the first to ReplyIf you haven't been here already, you're missing out.
They have one of the best burgers for the best price anywhere around. Their patties are thick and juicy, never dried out or bland. Their spicy chicken sandwich is fire and so is their shrimp po' boy. Hand to heaven I've always had the slaw taken off shrimp po' boys I've ordered before, but I kept it on when I ordered from here and I was not disappointed. All their food is great, but especially their fried food. Their fries are better than McDonald's and their tots are crunchy on the outside but warm and soft on the inside. The owners are great guys that care about the community. I can't say enough nice things about this place and the people here.
Be the first to ReplyGreat drink options and friendly service.
Food is okay, nothing spectacular but options pair well with the drinks. Giant pretzel is good but fried pickles are all breading. Music and ambiance is nice. Bathroom needs a remodel and they need to add an additional stall for women!!!
