Had an exceptional 10-course dining experience.
Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and the service was top notch, as expected from a Michelin Star restaurant.

I am going to talk shit but I have to say upfront, the food was perfectly executed. The service was incredible. The waiters literally wore black gloves! I can't not give people working that hard anything but five stars. Still, I would absolutely never come back or recommend this place to anyone. It is AGGRESSIVELY Miami Beach. Gold leaf and foams all over the place. It is like A.I. created a Michelin star restaurant. It was the eating equivalent of watching a robot perform a perfect gymnastics routine. There was no soul or story to be found. The food, while insanely well made, conveyed no message and left no impression other than "YES THIS IS GOOD FOOD." As objectively good as it was, I just can't remember a single dish. I can't stress enough how little personality there was in this restaurant. The playlist was like a touchtunes in a 2009 Sears. Decore? Theme? Nothing. The dining room looked and felt like a repurposed meeting room There are hard working people in this restaurant really performing their roles so well. It just feels like this place is being run by the Chat gpt. of restaurateurs. Miami has SO MUCH MORE to offer.
Be the first to ReplyDoes Papi Steak have a Michelin Star?" asked a friend
Does Papi Steak have a Michelin Star?" asked a friend recently while we were at dinner. If that doesn't encapsulate half of Miami's overall knowledge of fine dining, I don't know what does. No, Papi Steak does not have a Michelin Star, my dearest friend. For those lucky not to know what I am referring to, kindly look up "Papi Steak Beef Case" and draw your own conclusion. Do know that, typically, the Miami pomp, circumstance, and chaos of clubstaurants do not necessarily qualify as part of the Michelin quest for excellence. At this time, the newly-opened Tambourine Room is not part of the Michelin Guide Florida either. However, one look into the criteria set forth by the guide and based on my epic first dinner, it practically screams they WILL be. If not for the upcoming publication, then for a future one. Tambourine Room checks all the boxes. What I find most impressive, enough for me to write about them after only one visit, is how it successfully delivered such a glowing experience with barely two months under its belt, and a team of only three in the kitchen.Inside Miami Beach's historic Carillon Hotel, Tambourine Room hides behind large nondescript double doors. Guests are greeted and asked to remain by the lounge and bar area immediately outside the entrance until escorted in by a host. A couple of display cases nearby proudly showcase memorabilia of a glamorous yesteryear. The restaurant name honors the Carillon's past, where a speakeasy bar is said to have once occupied the same space in the late 50s. The Tambourine team embracing the hotel's history, scored brownie points right away from me. And that was only the beginning.A hostess welcomed our party of two, at our exact reservation time, into the dining room and to our table. Before the service song and dance began, I took a second to survey the beautiful interiors. The narrow room, holding just six two-tops and a larger table for six, felt grand. A glass-bricked wall gave off the illusion of additional space and tied in with the many touches of muted gold, navy leather chairs, and sleek wood floors. Above, several overlapping circular light fixtures anchored the space and offered the first of many nods throughout the night to the geometrics of a tambourine.Music by Doris Troy, The Beach Boys, The Supremes, Diana Ross, and The Drifters played along our tasting menu. Don't know who some of those bands are? Good. I am happy to say the DJ, and oontz thump beats part of dinner stayed way down in South Beach, for once. The tasting menu progression flowed in harmony all night. It's not that I was expecting hiccups, or looking for faults. It had more to do with the warm hospitality and genuine care for the smallest detail, like making the water drop from an overly condensed glass or breadcrumb disappear before I even noticed. More importantly, It had everything to do with every composed plate being a stunner, not just on looks. The often rich and savory flavors hit all the right notes, and the unexpected layers and depth in each kept me interested. After finalizing our beverage preference, and right on cue, a small wooden dish appeared with our snacks. Once again, an ode to the golden days of the 50s and 60s. First up, a mini TOAST HAWAII and next to it a LOBSTER ROLL (profiterole with saffron, l. Then, with a gentle hand twist, the dish opened to reveal a lower compartment holding sweet and spicy, crispy pecans. An amuse-bouche followed the snacks. The light dish, composed of a delicate soft-boiled egg, celery, chive oil, and black garlic, was enveloped in a parmesan cloud-like foam with crisp croutons soaking it all in. This set the tone for the rest of the evening. Five surprisingly well-sized courses continued: TUNA, TOMATO, SCALLOP, COD, and WAGYU BEEF. I find it tough to choose a favorite. Each one was somewhat intricate without compromising its main ingredient. Together, they eventually reached a perfect crescendo.Feeling gluttonous and adventurous, we took a chance on both available Signature Enhancements: the BEEF TARTARE and HOMEMADE PASTA. The Petrossian Caviar-topped tartare, and the sourdough crisps stole the show. We shared it as a party of two, but trust it's enough to share for a larger party of four.(THE FULL DETAILED REVIEW & INTERVIEW ARE ON MY BLOG. LINK IN YELP BIO)Tambourine Room offers a luxurious fine dining journey similar to those I've experienced at two Michelin-starred kitchens. While the vibe is relaxed and friendly, the food and service are taken very seriously. The entire team is hyperfocused on the overall guest experience and strives to perform at their best. If you prefer your steak delivered in a suitcase surrounded by sparklers and Bad Bunny tunes about VIP status, this is not the place for you. Dine at Tambourine if you are a food enthusiast who loves, appreciates, and respects the art of cooking, with or without the need for selfies. That last part is up to you. The experience will speak for itself.

When I travel I often do tasting menus or visit Michelin Restaurants. I was very excited learning that a Michelin star chef had an experience in Miami Beach. The room itself is a secret location in the Carillion hotel. You have a choice of a 3 course tasting at 6:30pm or a 6 course tasting at 8:30pm.On our visit, we chose the 6 course and were encouraged to try the truffle pasta to compliment our meal. The staff was attentive though wine and champagne selections were much more limited than most restaurants. They do not have cocktails. All dishes had a creative spin and global elements. All were also inspired by things like Ramen, Mediterranean Salads, and flavors used across multiple regions. The kitchen has chefs who studied until the chef who inspired the restaurant and a pastry chef from France. The menu was served over nearly 3 hours. We particularly enjoyed the walnuts brought before our meal, the cod and Waygu Beef. Our favorite dish was the palette cleanser before dessert. All other dishes were lacking flavor or just missed the mark. I agree with a fellow reviewer that several dishes had foam, eggs, and more bland flavoring. I would not encourage adding anything to the 6 course meal. I would encourage asking for a description of the dishes as there were always more elements in them than listed on the menu. The truffle pasta was not like Italian pasta at all - it included an egg and thin noodles making it more like ramen. It was a very disappointing add and you can likely save time and money avoiding it. Overall, for the experience, taste, and overall evening I would say there are likely other restaurants you can experience something at their price point to better deliver upon expectations.
Be the first to ReplySo glad my husband and I decided to come here.
We have been to many great restaurants all over the world and I'm so glad there is another one added to Miami! We wanted to eat early so ended up with the 3 course tasting menu along with both of their enhancements. Everything was so delicious!! I would love to come back and try the next season's menu.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is absolutely terrible.
We're fans of tasting rooms and this was awful. The space is freezing and not intimate glaring bright lights and the food is repetitive and not palatable. Waiters look like they're serving on a cruise ship with black winter gloves that just spread bacteria from plate to plate. Just use your hands at least that can be washed between courses. Every dish had a purée or foam to the point where we literally could not swallow anymore. We're both insanely nauseous- and this circus cost us over 650$ fir two ppl. Which we'd be happy to pay for a delicious experience.

If you are looking for culinary a journey that will satiate the insatiable, this is it! Chef Tristan Brandt and his culinary team of passionate experts take you through Europe, Asia, and back to Miami with a few delightful twist and turns in between. Your palate will thank you! The service was that of true hospitality. I would finish my last bite, blink, and poof - my plate is gone. My glassware felt as if there was no end, as it was not one less than 1/4 empty. The every member of the staff was well educated about the menu and were proactive in their delivery. The ambiance was also very exquisite. It invited you to come as you are to enjoy this unique experiences. The touches of gold felt elegant while the subtle additions of Asian/ French artifact allowed you to enjoy the root of food experiences- culture. THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE- for all your sense. Highly recommend 10/10! True hidden gem.
